I've only just noticed this but when I set my ring volume using the Ring Volume slider in settings, you hear a quick preview of how loud it is when you let go.
Also when choosing the Ringtone with Sound Picker, you again hear the Ringtone preview.
What I've noticed is that when I actually ring the phone myself, the volume is noticeably lower than the preview.
I tired the same test on my XZ but that rings at the same volume as the slider control.
My Z3 has not been in water, or dropped, or anything like that. Both speakers are working when previewing and when ringing.
Has anyone else noticed this?
I even tried a factory reset but it's still the same.
P.S. I am running pre rooted 23.5.A.1.291. It's the CE 1288-7914 firmware.

Hello All,
I always want vibration only on ring with no sound. When I set ring to vibrate, that also turns off the sound on the included media player which means no sound for hearing voice mails. To hear voice mail, I have to go to the volume control rocker on the left side of the device and turn up volume. Now I am out of vibrate mode for the ringer, which means I have remember to go back to set the rocker to vibrate. Yes, I have the phone set so that ring and system should be individually adjustable; it does not really work that way, but that isn't the point here.
The Point. Can anyone recommend a cab, registry tweak or adjustment so that my media player volume is disassociated with the media player volume? I would like to have volume for my media player while never having ringer volume.
Thank You,
Ndmand
settings/sound & display and turn single volume off. You will now have separate volumes for ringer and sytem.
it does not work. that was the point of my post
Not so.

Maybe Volumex?

I'm not sure (I'm currently back on my Blackstone), but couldn't you select a "ringtone type" at the sound settings? e.g. "ring"; "ring+vibrate"; "ring, then vibrate"; "vibrate only";... and just select the "vibrate only" option?
I have this options in my Blackstone, but I'm not 100% sure if it's still present in HD2...

Thank You, Coincidence
Thanks for your reply. I really do appreciate it. As fate would have it, I happened to have figured this out yesterday, and it is exactly how you say. The ring tone type is now set to "vibrate" and it seems that I can use the volume key for the more useful purpose of making sure I can hear voice and music. Thanks again for your help.

Sorry, I missed a couple of your posts. I think my problem is fixed, but thanks for the cabs. I am new to Windows Mobile and am excited about the cabs yo posted. I may want to install them just to check them out. Again, thanks so much for your response and your obvious willingness to help others through this forum.

I am a little confused. Happy your request was answered. But maybe you can enlighten me to why the dual volume doesn't work. Or exactly why it didn't work for you. On my T9193 I set it to have dual volume. I keep the ringer volume on vibrate and the system volume turned up. Nothing else is affected by having the ringer volume on vibrate. Texts, emails, all notification sounds come through perfectly except for phone ringer. Did I miss something?
is it normal that if I set ringtone to "vibrate" from settings tab-phone settings I have sound on other apps (e.g. music player) but if I set ring to vibrate using volume button (double volume on) all device get silent ?
I have tried searching, but my G2X will not ring. I can see the call coming in, but it does not ring. I have looked at all my settings and even changed some trying to get a sound. I am rooted running CM nightly. I have wiped, can hear music from music player, but no sound for ring. I feel it probably is something simple, but can not figure it out. And yes, I have checked the ringer volume.
Anyone with ideas would be greatly appreciated
Only thing i can tell you is to do a complete wipe and flash again.
Did you check the ringer volume? It has a separate volume slider than the other sounds. While the phone is ringing press the volume up key and see if that makes a difference. You can also see the ringtone volume slider in the sounds, or when you are choosing a ringtone the volume keys will adjust the ringer volume. Sounds like it got set to no volume by accident.
I did another wipe and it worked. I had checked the volume slider.
Thanks guys for the help
Glad to see it's working!!!

lol nice. Will keep this in mind next time i flash my phone.
I'm rooted on latest a11. I set my Phone ringtone to a ring sound. When I slide the Phone volume slider to change volume, the alarm ringtone rings. I may need to reflash factory image if no one else has this issue.
Edit: NM, Dumbass here. Thought Phone volume should be it's ringtone, but Ring and notification volume uses it.
The volume of ringtone and notification sound can not be adjusted seperatly. At itself not a problem except for the fact that notification volume is way higher then ringtone volume. If I set the volume lower then the ringtone cannot be heard anymore and the notification volume is still to high.
If I set the volume higher then the notification will become a disturbence.
I have tried some 3rd party apps to manage volume of ringtones and notifications seperatly. But those do not seem to be capable off manageing notification volume and ringtone volume seperatly either.
For now I have decided to turn off notification sounds because off the volume.
I have had an OP6 before the OP Nord. There the volume of ringtones and notifications could not be managed seperatly as well but at least the volume of both ringtone and notification was in sync (equal loudness).
Anyone else noticed this? Any ideas on how to get the notification volume in line?
Do you use own file for ringtone? You can edit it, increase volume, e.g. in Audacity on PC, so it will be louder than notification sounds, and then lower ringtone volume.

Yeah, it is not a OP ringtone.
Strange thing is I have been using this ringtone on my OP6 previously where I did not have this "volume" problem.
I will give Audacity a try.
Thx.
Hi try this app, This might work for you.
It will increase ringtone volume to 100% before receiving normal call.
P.S tested on galaxy devices.

I use a bluetooth headset almost all of the time. Sometimes, the volume of the notification sound gets very quiet. Inaudible, really, unless I turn up the headset volume and the ring and notification volume slider to the maximum volumes. Even at the maximum volume settings, I can barely hear the notification sounds. I am able to reproduce the problem by going into the settings and changing the default notification sounds. I can just keep selecting different sounds, listening to the previews and suddenly, the volume will go quiet.
I am totally stock, not unlocked or rooted in any way. It was happening on Android 11 and is still happening on Android 12. Can anyone help me fix this problem?
