[Completed] Moto G (XT1033) 1st Generation - Bricked - XDA Assist

Hi
I'm not able to boot my Moto G (XT1033) 1st Generation.
Its in bootloop, stuck at the M logo screen. I believe its called softbrick, not sure though.
Before my phone got dead it was updated with latest OTA updates.
Anyways I have installed Motorola drivers on my system, setup Minimal_adb_fastboot/mfastboot.
Downloaded the Moto G stock firmware (XT1033) from your forum. (RETAIL-AS_FALCON_KXB20.25-1.31_cid7_CFC_1FF.xml)
I have unlocked bootloader through the Motorola website.
When I run the command to restore the firmware to stock I get the below error.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot>fastboot flash logo logo.bin
target reported max download size of 536870912 bytes
sending 'logo' (619 KB)...
OKAY [ 5.073s]
writing 'logo'...
(bootloader) Failed to erase partition
(bootloader) Failed to flash partition logo
FAILED (remote failure)
finished. total time: 10.103s
Is there some step I'm missing? Any information is needed, please let me know.
Looking forward to hear back.
Thanks.

MOTO G: Help for going back and changing firmware from XT1032 to XT1033

Hey nerds,
Could you please help with step by step guide on how to go back and change my UK firmware XT 1032 (for MOTO G) to the normal XT1033 firmware.
I changed my MOTO G XT1033 to XT1032 as was given proper instructions on the web however when I tried searching for instructions going back to XT1033 I didn't find any proper instructions. Please help. I'm kinda in a hurry as I want to sell this phone and need both the sims card tray working.
PS: I have already downloaded the firmware "fastboot_falcon_asia_ds_user_4.3_14.10.0Q3.X-84-7-LCG-4_4_release-keys-cid7-AsiaRetail_03.tar" and per instructions found in the net I got this message

And over the phone this is the message:
Fastboot Reason: UTAG "flashfail" configured as fastboot USB connected
cmd: getvar:max-sparse-size
cmd: download:00008000

Please help. I'm really desperate.
Will keep a lookout for your reply.
You are flashing 4.3 firmware on 4.4, downgrading doesn't work and might even brick your boot loader!
Try this firmware (it has different flashing instructions)

MOTO G XT1032 almost bricked

Hi all,
I have been seeking for infos to solve my problems for days and so, eventually, I come to you, begging for your help.
My device is a Moto G 2014 XT1032 (Europe), unlocked and used to be on android lollipop stock (I upgraded it manually during Easter).
Following a wrong attempt to restore a backup, I have (almost) bricked my phone.
Here is what works : Fastboot but NOT adb, acess to recovery (clockwork) and that's it. The usb debugging is not activated.
Otherwise, the phone is stucks in a bootloop.
Here is what I get when I try to update the phone :
Code:
C:\>fastboot update pa_dlx.zip
archive does not contain 'android-info.txt'
archive does not contain 'android-product.txt'
error: update package has no android-info.txt or android-product.txt
C:\>
And when I simply try to flash the sip (in order to install it from cwm) :
Code:
C:\>fastboot flash zip pa_dlx.zip
target reported max download size of 536870912 bytes
sending 'zip' (205116 KB)...
OKAY [ 6.461s]
writing 'zip'...
(bootloader) Permission denied
FAILED (remote failure)
finished. total time: 6.508s
Voilà. I would warmly accept any help you could give me.
I thank you in advance,
M.
EDIT : Thanks to this guide : GUIDE Moto G Restore Stock Firmware, I managed to solve my problem.

Was the Losing Signal Issue Ever Fixed?

The reason I ask is that mine is still buggered.
I had an xt1039 originally, drove over it in a 44 tonner and broke the digitiser. 2 new screens later and neither worked.
Bit the bullet and bought a used xt1039 one off eBay. Tesco version, already unlocked, but it was already upgraded to 5.02. Soft bricked it trying to restore to stock 4.3, sorted that by reinstalling stock 4.4.4, downgraded that to 4.4.3 but couldn't find a 4.4.2 Rom before I tried 4.3 again. Flashed different fsg and HLOS-NON files clearing the two modem files each time but to no avail. I have hunted high and low trying to get to the bottom of this reading through various threads on here, and I found theories along the lines of it only happens to those with O2 or Vodafone Sims or those networks who piggyback on them.
I did find a useful snippet that if I selected 2g I would at least get a stable phone signal which has worked fixing that, but I am on talktalk mobile(Vodafone) paying for 4 gig internet every month but ATM not using anywhere near that obviously. Vodafone's 3g coverage of the motorway network sucks anyway but something is better than nothing.
Before I give up and rip the motherboard out of my old one, is there any definitive to fix this? I am quite happy to supply any required information and answer any questions, and obviously any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Ta muchly.

Trying to find out which exact model I had, just though maybe it wasn't an xt1039, but in the regulatory information it says xt1039 but the information is for india! How does this relate to the UK? Do all of them say SAR information for India or is this country specific?
Just trying to find a way forward peeps.
Cheers

If I install cyanogenmod and cwm or twrp will this cure the problem?

I had just tried flashing a 5.1 Tesco Rom to see if it worked, but it is just doing the same. Was originally trying to get 4.3 Tesco rom for the 4g, but I am not sure what the LTE version on Tesco was originally released on, 4.3 or 4.4.x.
Thanks for the reply

With Moto G Falcon - Motorola made it impossible to boot 4.3, after upgrading to KitKat. It's probably the same case here. I would be careful with the file: motoboot.img (Bootloader) - it's unnecessary and dangerous to repeatedly flash it.
Provide a fastboot log of what happens when you try to flash the 5.1 Firmware Image. You can flash either Tesco or Retail GB from here:

Hi lost101
This is the firmware I just tried this morning, took two full flashes and a force shutdown before it booted properly. First time it got stuck and fell into dead android screen for recovery. Rebooted into bootloader again and reflashed, then it booted past the changing planet pic to the blue M, then hung there. Forced restart and it booted to optimizing apps and started fine. Turned it off, then restarted and deleted all the apns, installed the one I got in a text from Talktalk, selected network, and restarted again. Unfortunately, unless I select 2g in the preferred network types, it just keeps dropping signal.
Should I try the retail version rather than the Tesco Version?
Cheers

Show me a fastboot log. The tool is in no way user-friendly - it can fail to flash completely, yet still appear as if everything was an amazing success.

By Fastboot Log, do you want me to reflash and post the results that show in the command prompt, or what appears on the phone, or am I getting mixed up?
Thanks

Yes, reflash the firmware image files. Do the commands manually, one at a time. Copy and paste the entire process into a post here. Try to skip flashing motoboot.img.

OK Will do, I will skip the partition and the motoboot and start at logo. Both these files flashed fine allegedly, but I will go through the rest again and post them up.
Thanks

@Jalipero - The log is incomplete - are you flashing 4 sparsechunk files? in the correct order: sparsechunk.0, sparsechunk.1, sparsechunk.2 and sparsechunk.3?

Yes it did, oddly. Took an age, but I remembered seeing somewhere that it can take up to 8 minutes for it to initialise after flashing, so I left it at the planet with the M in it, and it booted up to start procedure fine. I was just about to restart it, then erase the cache again and reboot to clear it out if that is ok?

I was looking for the APN utility Tweakker but appears to no longer exist. There area alternatives on Google Play - if you want to try to make sure your APN info is correct.
Yes the biggest problem I have is that if I select anything other than 2g it just keeps dropping signal. Other than that the phone is great. I will have a look for a similar app to tweakker and see if there any changes to be made.

Stuck/bootloader 41.1A*/XT1032 can't flash any rom or blankflash again.Help please.

Can somebody help me?
After blankflash bootloader 411A* i can revive
my phone with any rom.
XT1032 moto g 2013.
Every time it gives error with:
Preflash validation failed or permission denied
I've try to blankflash again by forcing drivers
in win 10 to see it.
The device is seen (device manager)as qualcom 9008.
It doesn't do anything said waiting for device when i try to blankflash again.
So i am stuck in a crazy locked bootloader with
no partition on phone nothing.....
I've try to flash almost all available rom for it.
Same result, every time failed with permision denied
or partition downgraded for gpt
(blue letters warning)
or Preflash validation failed .....
Any idea how can i flash a moto or boot image of
any rom to revive it?
I am tired of trying so many.....
If i can make the phone be seen
by RSD lite i can try to flash thru it.
But is not recognize by any of
the RSD Lite versions....
I think i'm gonna bin it.
Thanks for any idea........
Oh,and the story behind....
Original:moto g 5.02 tesco firmware....
Unlocked bootloader.....
Flashed 4.4 GPE....OK
Updated OTA....bricked....
only seen in
PC as qulcomm.....
Next...bankflashed.....ok
Bootloader shows status locked
Phone booting in fastboot and that's it....
'Preflash validation' error is normally due to having a locked Bootloader and trying to flash an older firmware than previously installed, i.e 5.0.2 over 5.1. You may have corrupted the Bootloader by applying the OTA Update after flashing 4.4.4. You are breaking every rule in the book and seem intent on completely destroying your phone.
Flash the latest XT1032 Factory Firmware Image using Fastboot. If this is not successful, it would help to see a log of the flashing process. Copy and paste command prompt screen. Take screenshots if necessary.

Use mfastboot to flash. However, ultimately, you may need to apply the unbrick method - http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/help/how-to-unbrick-moto-g-falcon-t3394788
Thank you!
I have try all above....
It looks like the blankflash locked the
bootloader (previously was unlocked)
and is not responding to
unlock it....even with the proper unlock key....
(permission denied)
That why i need an idea how to
blankflash/rewrite bootloader again.
I will post later on some screenshots with getvarall.
Yes,i sort it out, if other people having same problem need to flash only gpt.bin.
And this one extracted ONLY from 5.1 brazilian rom.
Any other procedure will not restore bootloader
to initial state.
After that you can flash any other compatible rom...
Thanks to all especially to Chalkydri who point me
to the brazilian rom.
Google * unbrick moto g*. You will get a xda thread dated june 2016. Follow the steps worked for my hard bricked moto g might as well work for you.
when I flashed falcon_502_partitions_nomodem.zip on my moto g XT1028 and then I reboot to bootloader nothing is there and when I tried to restart my devices the screen is black and the fastboot mode is also not visible and I'm not able to flash anything to make my device work.

Try some 5.1 brazilian rom.Google for it.
You must have XT1032 moto G for this to work.
And try flash whole rom.
Even if it gives you some errors you might be able to unlock bootloader to previous state....

I tried several ways to install the stock but without success, and I also tried to unlock the boatloader and also failed, I tried to install another version of the boatloader and without success. I'm sorry for my bad english, I'm using google translator to talk to you. And sorry if I did something wrong, this is the first time I participate in a forum here.
This smart is my main device and I really need it, if you can help me, I thank you very much.
Hey guys, I've the same problem with the XT1032 model. My phone was bricked 4 days ago, and I tried to flash a 5.0.2 Retail US with a 41.1A Bootloader, after to flash this motoboot.img, I can't flash anything. All the times appears this same message:
(bootloader) Failed to erase partition
(bootloader) Failed to flash partition
My bootloader is corrupt :crying:
I don't know how to solve this problem, I've tried flashing with 9-10 ROM's for my model, and all times appears this message, I tried in 3 different PC's. Anybody did solve this problem?

Thank you!
I have try all above....
It looks like the blankflash locked the
bootloader (previously was unlocked)
and is not responding to
unlock it....even with the proper unlock key....
(permission denied)
That why i need an idea how to
blankflash/rewrite bootloader again.
I will post later on some screenshots with getvarall.

Same here and what's intriguing is that now the BL version is 0.5 with unknown Baseband. Whereas before blankflashing it was 2.7 with a baseband. Tried everything like you but without a working baseband, I can flash ROMs but no cellular connectivity. SIM cards turn out disabled

Problems flashing twrp

Hi, I'm new to Moto G forum but have followed TF300T forum to flash my Asus TF300 successfully with custom roms.
I am having problem flashing twrp, when I flash TWRP twrp-3.0.2-2-falcon.img or twrp-3.1.1-0-falcon.img flashing reports
C:\Users\Mark> fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.2-2-falcon.img
target reported max download size of 536870912 bytes
sending 'recovery' (9526 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.329s]
writing 'recovery'...
OKAY [ 0.546s]
finished. total time: 0.889s
Seems ok I thought, but when I try to reboot into recovery all I get is a dead android with message No command.
Phone is Moto G 1032 running stock 5.1 Android. It does still boot into system.
Unlocking bootloader seemed to be incomplete,
I tried to unlock my Moto G using the standard way suggested on Motorola site, by passing the command - fastboot oem unlock <unlock code> to fastboot screen via command prompt. Got the below messages on command prompt.
(bootloader) Failed to erase partition
(bootloader) General Unlock failure!
(bootloader) OEM unlock failure!
FAILED (remote failure)
finished. total time: 10.225s
After that, screen on phone showed the message - UNLOCK...
& got stuck on that. I switched off & started again in Fastboot mode. On the screen it said - Device is UNLOCKED. Status Code: 3
However anther user had same problem but was able to flash TWRP successfully.
Thanks in advance
SOLVED
Used Moto G 2014 ToolKit, Tool/Utility for the Moto G 2014 by luca020400 and this worked.
Not sure what I did wrong but many thanks to luca020400
