Searching for Stock Sounds - Honor 8 Questions & Answers

Hey guys.
I wanna ask you, if someone can provide me the stock Honor 8 sounds (including alarm, notification and ringtones)
I ask, because without root we can't get access to the internal SD card.
I tried also to extract the tones and sounds from a FW Update which was provide in one of the other threads. But I can't open the Update.APP file with 7zip or any other tool on my PC.
So, if anybody of you has root and can copy the stock sounds + provide me, that will be great.
Big thanks in advance and with regards

Install root explorer, then go to system folder.
I don't remember the exact folder where sounds are but, it's easy to know it from its name.
And before you ask, you can the system folder, you can copy from it using root explorer, but you can't modify without root

Thanks mate. Give them a try.
I know the path, where the sounds will be to find [emoji6]
Doesn't know, that root explorer will work without root.

Got them all. Thanks again @CronaMell

You're welcome

@CronaMell I'm about to msg you about this. I just upgraded to Nougat and I miss the old alarms!

Yeah, that's right. Honor killed the old sounds from emotion ui4.
Which sound/alarm did you need?

grab the rom you want the sound from, open it up and pull out the files you want (they are in system/media/audio/...) and put them in /sdcard/media/audio/... (use the same folders obviously)
Does this need to be done by loading each rom, or is there any way to extract them from my PC and put in SD folder and move to system wih astro? I cant seem to figure it out
Can someon please explain the steps in extracting the audio files, for some reason I cannot get them from my nandroid backup, and I've tried un zipping a rom, and could not find them their either. Sorry for the noob question, thanks in advance

What do you mean open it up? As in loading the rom to the phone or looking at system files?

I tried downloading this, unzipping it to a certain folder (with windows and WinRAR), I open the new folder (2010-06-27.17.58.31), then there are 7 .IMG files in them. I get the same thing when I though it would be as easy as opening up a nandroid backup and getting the files from there.
Can someone fill me in on what step im missing? Thanks!
Anyone know this answer?
What you need is a full system dump. The link you were given is to a nandroid backup. Try this one:

I also want to find the ringtone location so I can copy some ringtones I like from one phone to another. I can't find that location you put there. In my "Android" folder, there is no "system" folder.

The phone that you want to take the ringtone must be rooted. If it's rooted use an app like Root Explorer and go to the root folder (/). There you will find /system.

You can open the rom that you have downloaded using winrar application and navigate to that location.
Each phone is a different ringtone location, but my phone is:settings / sound / phone ringtones

Hi I tried to push that file using root explorer as well as the es explorer. I mounted the r/w and then tried to push it, but when I push it, it gives an error.
In es expoler when I push the file, it copies in the system folder surprisingly it is copied as an empty file.

(LG V20, T-Mobile) Change Emoji from stock when rooted

Thought i'd put this on it's own thread so it doesn't get lost in the sea of comments where i put it originally. Mods, if this belongs somewhere else please move.
For anyone wanting to change their emoji and not sure if you want to use that switcher app, its very simple. Install ES file explorer (i can't imagine most of you don't already have it) and go to system/fonts and locate "NoToColorEmojii.ttf" and rename it to your liking (i just renamed it with NoToColorEmojii_OLD.ttf). Then download a replacement TTF emoji file, i used this one :
http://www.mediafire.com/file/oe85f3h5mj0731k/NotoColorEmoji.ttf
NEW WORKING LINK POSTED
download it and put it in the same folder the old one is in, reboot your phone, and viola, you're good to go.
Hope this helps!
YES! Thank You for doing this.

Can you try that again? I think its just that it looks that way cause you can't preview this file. there should still be a DL button.

Im rooted and still cant edit system files. I re-ran the recowvery script, and when i got to TWRP, I swiped to allow changes to the system partition. Then flashed no-verity-opt-encrypt.zip then flashed SuperSu.
I am certain about root priviliges. SuperSU prompts me when root is required, and I am using a custom rom.
I used a script in the app RomManager to mount system RW to no avail.
I am using ES File Manager. I dont understand this, so any help is appreciated. Thanks

I'm not a noob by any stretch but I'm feeling like one again with this LG stuff so just to clarify this is basically just a guess, but if you're positive you have root access then it sounds like the problem could be with the file explorer you're using. I don't use es file explorer myself so if it is the problem I couldn't tell you why, but I use solid explorer and I haven't had any issues with modifying system files. Anyway just thought I'd throw it out there in case you haven't already tried with a different file explorer. Hope it helps

That's good advice. My first thought exactly. I think the real problem was i had assumed the rom came with Busybox already installed. I installed Busybox when scripts for read/write access wouldnt run in apps that required it. Now things work perfectly.

It's funny because I had a similar problem when I first installed Adaway because it would download the updated host but it kept failing to install, and then it finally dawned on me when I was doing something else that required busybox that it wasn't already installed because for some reason I also had just assumed it was. Anyway I'm glad to hear you got it figured out ?

Okay. I can change the file of the original .tff to *_OLD.tff but cant copy and paste the new one to the /system/fonts directory because its a "read only directory". Yet ES File Explorer says Readable and Writable.
Any ideas i can try?

Need a few more apks, this time is a pretty bad emergency.

Hey guys,
I'm asking for a couple more apks, for some reason, in between trying to update to 5.0 and all kinds of fixes to get root, and then coming back to 4.1, something got borked and my phone app doesn't work.
I was hoping someone could extract the dialer.apk and incallui.apk for me.
If you're rooted, on 4.1, and you're not sure how to extract apks, it's super easy.
Literally install an app called apk extractor, and just choose those two from the list, and it will do the job.
Alternatively, if you have a root file browser, you can navigate to system/priv-app and find the folders that contain both the dialer, and incallui, and just copy both folders to the SD card or some other memory.
If someone could share those with me, I'd be super grateful. Thanks.

You are my personal Lord and Saviour! Thank you very much!
I absolutely needed incallui.apk, I still had Teleservice, but thanks anyway. The other apk was the dialer, but that's alright, I'm using a replacement. Everything is working. Thank you very much!
The NEXT time I have to completely wipe and restore my phone, I'm gonna take some time to backup all of the stock apps, just in case. I've been trying to extract them from a system.img, but it seems to be next to impossible.

Yes, but it's alright. I'm using the google phone app instead. The problem is that it doesn't replace the incallui, so basically I had a phone app, but no way to make or receive calls.
It's all working now, not an issue. Thank you very much.
When I have a chance I'll spend a whole day and make some backups so this won't happen again.

It's not one of those. It might not be under dialer, it might just be under phone.
If you're interested, I can send you the file I replaced it with. It's the stock dialer for Google.

Same idea, just copy it to priv-app and edit permissions
You can pick it from apps/default apps.
