I also want to find the ringtone location so I can copy some ringtones I like from one phone to another. I can't find that location you put there. In my "Android" folder, there is no "system" folder.

The phone that you want to take the ringtone must be rooted. If it's rooted use an app like Root Explorer and go to the root folder (/). There you will find /system.

You can open the rom that you have downloaded using winrar application and navigate to that location.

Each phone is a different ringtone location, but my phone is:settings / sound / phone ringtones

Why not just put them on your sdcard in media folder? I think all roms read from there too as long as the paths are the same (minus the system folder)
Yeah, make the below folders on the sdcard either on the root, or within a folder called media:
notifications
ringtones
alarms
The phone will then present the contents of these when you are selecting one (eg/ the notifications contents will be visable when choosing a message alert).
i am familiar with the media folder on the root of the SD card, however, there are 2 reasons why i dont use it:
1. sometimes, the response is slow, so when someone calls, for a second or 2, the phone lights up with the contact calling but does not ring immediatly.
2. some files get duplicated.
thanks for your quick responses!

Strange, never noticed this happen to me. I've had it play a default ringtone while my sdcard was mounted, but never noticed any kind of delay otherwise.

Good point. I have a similar audio collection on my sdcard but I manually removed the ones that appear in CyaogenMod so they wouldn't duplicate but that could be a pain if switching between roms.
Anyway, here is the update.zip you requested
Crap, just over the 8meg attachment limit even with maximum compression, so here ya go:

[Q] No ringtones and music

Hi,
I recently updated my Sensation to newest ARHD (7.0) without wipe and my ringtones and music is gone. Also for many of apps if I open them, I'm getting FC, but in this case if I delete data for that app, the problem is gone, but I don't know what I should do in case of lost ringtones and music? When I'm trying to select ringtone all I got is empty list.

Unzip the attachment and copy and paste it into system folder in the root of your phone. And try to set the ringtone again from setting. See what will happen.

There was other problem. The sound files were present, but system couldn't see them, but I've fixed this and other problems by fixing permissions via recovery.
But thanks anyway!

[Q] Selecting Personal Ringtone & Notifications?

Well I've read a good number of articles online about setting your own ringtone on the Apollo - none of which work on this G3 Modded phone for some reason?
I cannot write a new folder called media on the internal SD card - it will not let me.
I can write a new folder called media on the ext_SD card but it will only allow me to put one folder inside....
No matter what I try, the phone will only look at reading the media folder in the system for the default ringtones...
So, does anybody have any idea how to choose your own ringtone and notification?

If you have root you can push your ringtones to system/media/audio/rintones (or system/media/audio/notifications for notifications).

Try using root explorer, at the top right corner there will be mount R/W button just press it when you will be in system/media/audio/rintones and you should be able to copy. The same with notifications.

Well I managed to get Root Browser installed onto the phone - then although I could transfer the files finally, the system wouldn't see them as .mp3 files.
Converted them online to .ogg and the system still couldn't see them...when selecting ringtone etc.
Rebooted phone as a last effort and all is now well :silly:
I'm not so sure why this is so difficult really - it was all very simple on the previous non-Smart phone from ZTE :cyclops:
Thanks for the help
You're welcome

[Q] Settings-->Themes

There is this option called Themes in the settings menu. consider me a complete newbie and tell me how that works(Like does it help in changing themes if so how do I do it).
There is no option called themes on the stock Rom. What are you running?

A custom ROM dev may choose to add the new CM theme engine to his/her ROM. If you were to install a theme (via Play Store or .apk from XDA, NOT themes that you flash or where you modify files) you use the theme manager to use the theme.

You deleted a symlink that linked to your internal storage, thus it deleted everything. You can't see the symlink in a file explorer while in Android but while connected to a PC, you can.

wow never expected it to be so complicated. Does this symbolic link show up only in custom rom's, if no then normal users like myself would probably mistake it for an empty folder and delete it.
Thanks for the explanation.

It exists in any ROM. You shouldn't delete anything if you don't know what it is.

Searching for Stock Sounds

Hey guys.
I wanna ask you, if someone can provide me the stock Honor 8 sounds (including alarm, notification and ringtones)
I ask, because without root we can't get access to the internal SD card.
I tried also to extract the tones and sounds from a FW Update which was provide in one of the other threads. But I can't open the Update.APP file with 7zip or any other tool on my PC.
So, if anybody of you has root and can copy the stock sounds + provide me, that will be great.
Big thanks in advance and with regards
Install root explorer, then go to system folder.
I don't remember the exact folder where sounds are but, it's easy to know it from its name.
And before you ask, you can the system folder, you can copy from it using root explorer, but you can't modify without root
Thanks mate. Give them a try.
I know the path, where the sounds will be to find [emoji6]
Doesn't know, that root explorer will work without root.
Got them all. Thanks again @CronaMell

@CronaMell I'm about to msg you about this. I just upgraded to Nougat and I miss the old alarms!
Yeah, that's right. Honor killed the old sounds from emotion ui4.
Which sound/alarm did you need?
