Mi band 2 on honor 8 - Honor 8 Accessories

Hi, i have an honor 8 since 1 month, and i can't recive notification from whatsapp whit the miband 2. The normal message's notification work perfectly, but not for whatsapp. Someone has that problem? Any ideas on how to solve it? I use mi fit app and mi band tools ( an app that is compatible whit mi band 2 , downloaded form play store) bat both aren't working. Thanks

Hi,
I have same configuration + I am Czech translator of MiFit, so I know this app deeply You need to set app, which you want to get notify from in Settings>Band Alerts of MiFit. Also, you should add MiFit to expections list ot not kill by EMUI (settings in battery).

Do you have enabled MiFit in exceptions, so it not will be killed? Also, what is notification settings of WhatsApp? I am recommending to uninstall WA and install it again. Then, enable it in MiFit again.

Yes, i set the app correctly and the normale message are correctly notificated by miband, now i delete whatsapp and instal again but that not solve my problem

Let me know the result, hope it will be fixed by reinstallation.

No, still no notification... I don't know how to solve it

No, still no notification

Wow, in that case, Factory Reset must help. If not, then I am out of advices.. Maybe... What about DND (Do Not Disturb) mode? Isn't it still on?

Did you check notification center in settings to check mifit and miband tools and see what the apps settings are?
I had a similar issue using both the mi fit and mi band tools app for notifications and I had to play around with both notification center and battery settings to get them to work properly.

Notifications issue?

Hi there
I have a question for the international users of the Magic 2. I have not yet owned a Honor device but had several Huawei Mate devices in the past. The ones which I had from China always had the issue with delayed/not syncing notifications, for example Whatsapp etc. It only got better with the international firmware on it.
Does the Magic 2 also have this issue, seeing it only comes with Chinese Firmware?
Thanks very much!
I have the HM2 and I haven't experienced any issues with notifications, using Whatsapp, Telegram or whatever.

I have had a different experience unfortunately. Some apps only seem to sync and receive new notifications when I open them.
I've tried adding the problematic apps to "unrestricted data access" (despite it saying this should not effect notifications) to no avail.
Hope someone else has a solution!

That's exactly what I was afraid of, I also know this from my previous Huawei Mates.. well I have placed the order now already for it.. so I guess I will have to see.
Go to settings->apps->apps->WhatsApp(for example)->power usage details->app launch.
Change to manual and enable all. I think you can then switch it back to automatic.

These problems usually originate with power consumption settings and launch settings, if you let it run in the background and launch itself, it should work perfectly.
In any way I use Whatsapp regularly and it seems working fine with the default settings I had when installed.

And this
Most people that are having issues with notifications are totally unaware of the the aggressive battery saver on Huawei devices. You need to manually allow apps to run in the background and not be killed by the battery saver. Unfortunately the settings are but hidden and some time there are more than one option to were to do so.

So for some people notifications from 3rd party show in AOD and other people just don't know how to set it up. Classic
Classic? Or just quite rude considering it's been asked how to set it up...
As in no real info for these things you cannot really try before you buy. On person saying it works, other it does not.
There isn't a way to set it up as far as I know. Should just need to install an app and it will do the rest.
Which rom base are you having issue with? On the Chinese Ron?
Which app do you install?! I'm on the global ROM I believe.
Have the same Problem, no Notifications on the AOD.... Global Rom!
Solved with the newest update! Working notifications now! ?
Is the update live? Do we get them on the AOD? Can you please check Hangouts specifically for me?
Sorry but i dont use hangouts, but i can confirm gmail and whatsapp!
On, here is my problem.
My phone right now is on stable MIUI 10.2.1.0 (phone bought in Poland). I'm using Facebook, Whatsapp any many other apps, like you all do, and I have no idea what to do if I want to have notification icon visible on always on display, but I noticed something strange. When I'm using Whatsapp app on PC, I have the notification from phone on PC, BUT if I wait a little phone will start to vibrate about unread message and then the icon will appear on always on display. This in the only way when the Whatsapp notification icon is visible.
My question in - what can I do to force Whatsapp unread message icon on always on display?
Same problem here! No notifications at all! So i'm really keen to know if some of you have notifications from e.g. whatsapp on the AOD!
Any solution for this? I'm on latest xiaomi.eu ROM and I don't get any notifications on the AOD.
Thanks!

Inconsistent notifications

Hey guys,
So have the Chinese version with the Chinese ROM still.
I have noticed that sometimes apps no longer give me notifications unless I open them.
For example, if I do not open Gmail it does not auto download the emails and does not notify me of new mails.
WhatsApp does not always tell me I have new messages unless I open it etc.
I have tried to check the power settings and such and cannot find anything.
This happens regardless of whether I am on mobile data or WiFi.
Any ideas what may be causing this and how to stop it? I'd like to get my notifications as I receive new WhatsApp messages and emails etc.
Sent from my Redmi Note 7 Pro using Tapatalk
I can't find the source or any helpful guide to fixing it, but I swear I remember seeing something about how MIUI prevents some notifications from reaching you by default for some reason.
I'm pretty sure there was also ways to get around it as much as possible, but another solution is to flash a custom rom.
Hmm, I did a quick Google and saw something about battery optimization but could only find MIUI optimization.
Will keep looking, hoping the global ROM will fix it though?

For emails, I suggest turning on auto sync. Maybe other notifications will get fixed too. Do note that turning on auto sync will result in more battery usage.

It is and has been on from the beginning. So that's not the cause.

(I'm assuming most of the settings in MIUI 8 are still available in MIUI 10)
MIUI is VERY aggressive when it comes to controlling apps running in the background (when in this phone is completely unnecessary given the massive battery), I would do 2 things to fix these problems:
1) Look in "Battery and Performance" > "Manage Apps battery usage" look for the app you want notifications to work properly select it and select "no restrictions", or you can just turn off power saving mode completely and every app will show notifications properly
2) Look for a setting named " about this phone" or something similar, in the "MIUI version" tap 7 times till you get a message "you are now a developer" .
Go back to settings, select "additional settings" and look for "developer options" , go to the bottom and disable MIUI Optimization.
These two actions should fox notification problems and also RAM management, you apps won't be suddenly closed when running in background.
Quick note: after a few years, when battery starts showing it's age and your phone starts rebooting randomly , turning on MIUI Optimizations might come handy, it will work similar to iOS, slowing the performance a bit and limiting the amount of background processes to lower the battery draw, your phone might run a little worse, but it won't have random restarts.
Again, I currently use MIUI 8, so some names might have little variations, but the steps should be similar.
Hope it helps and sorry for my english

Here's a possible solution.
Open Security App > Manage Apps > Select app
> Enable "Autostart"
> Notifications > Enable "Show notifications" and "App icon badge" > enable the following toggles for all notifications found under NOTIFICATION CATEGORIES > "Show notifications", "Floating notifications", "Lock screen notifications" and "notification light" (also "Sound" and "Vibration" if needed).
> Battery Saver > No restrictions
In order to prevent MIUI from killing specific background apps you need to do this:
> Open each app separately > Go to "Recents" menu to see the apps running in background > long press on each app separately and lock it by tapping the lock icon.
> Reboot the device
Please report back and let me know if this has solved your notifications problem or not.
Thanks guys, I will give the above a try and see if it works and if so which setting(s) fixed. Y issue.
Will report back once I've had a chance to test it all.

2 things under settings u adjust. i solved mine via these 2
1) go App. under App launch. select "manual" and tick all 3 options for Google framework, account manager , huawei mobile services and whatsapp. i did that for google map too
2) again go App, under permission. select special access on the drop down list on top right hand corner. choose battery optimisation. i select whatsapp as well as those apps mentioned as above 1) and choose "not allowed" so that these wont be killed . Just adjusting 1) under App launch does not work. its the battery optimisation that kills the app after a while.
u need to perform these 2 adjustments so that whatsapp will continue to work behind .
this 3rd step is optional. I've also enabled locking whatsapp under the task it so that it won't be close even if i clear all app in the background. click on the square icon at the bottom most of the phone menu, scroll to whatsapp and swipe down to lock it. swiping up kills the app
make sure u enable data for these app.
hope it helps. i did it for my 5G set from china.

Smartwatch Notifications stopped working

I have a Pebble Time that was working well (under the new Rebble alliance) with my old PocoF1 (running LineageOS)
Since I've moved to the X3 MIUI Global 12.0.2 (QJGEUXM) I think I have received about 2 days of full notifications, and then.. only reminders come through to the watch! no SMS/Whatsapp/email notifications.
I installed a 3rd party Notifications app, that also worked for 1 day and then nothing. (Notification Center for Pebble).
When I go into the app now it says "Notification Service Not Running - you must enable it"
It takes me to the Notification Access, where both Pebble and Notification Center are both ticked.
I've tried unchecking, rechecking. restarting... etc. nothing seems to get the Notification Service working
I've been to power settings and ensured that neither app is being restricted.
What am I missing!?!

ok, open "app info" on app which is not working correctly, check section "permissions", open "app behavior", in log find out which app operation is restricted or denied, then allow required permission, it should help; also allow autostart and disable battery saver (set "no restrictions")
I find very questionable this "new" policy in MIUI12 - "deny everything" from the start (maybe not new but for me it is, this is my first phone with MIUI), around 70% of my application (that worked on Android 10 without any hassle) would not work correctly, unless explicitly allowed autostart, disabled battery saver, plus rechecked/reallowed every needed permission... soo hope this help ... I spend almost 2 days in finding out why on earth my apps wont work anymore correctly (as they did before MIUI)

I did just find an "app timer" option with I have now set to "no timer set". that might be something that lets the first 30mins of notifications through then stops? t.b.d.

I have a Ticwatch Pro (Wear OS) and had it always disconnected after night.
I created an exception for 'google play services' in DND settings, and since then there were no more disconnects.
If you are using DND-mode, maybe this helps for other watches too.

Very annoying i need to force close the Fitbit app 2x a day or more to get notifications back

The Miui Menu is a bit confusing... And ambiguous in german - we have 2 menu entries 'Datenschutz' which would translate to 'privacy'. In the first one we have 'special App Access rights' or something like that. There you find exceptions for DND.
I think you should probably best try the search function - 'exceptions' or 'do not disturb' should show you the way, i suppose.
Tried all of that.
No joy.
Still have to force close the Fitbit app 2 or 3 times a day to get notifications back.
Very annoying
