notification when fully charged? - Android Apps and Games

hello everyone, happy new year.
is there an app to notify you through an alarm or something like it when the battery is fully charged when plugged? just trying to avoid over charging the battery and make it last a little longer as i usually just plug it for a long period of time when i get home at night and most of the times i end up sleeping and the cellphone spends the night connected.
Thanks

wesome, ill give that a try

You could use an app called "Automate" and setup a flow that will ring a notification once the device is charged. I've built a few flows that do just this.

I had installed gsam:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gsamlabs.bbm
which has the option to throw a status bar notification with sound,
but I don't know if it's worth installing (after cm install in my phone) again
for doing just that..

TodayScreen which monitors the time how long my PPC charges?

Does anybody know if there is a Today Screen plugin which monitors the charging uptime?
History for my question:
I changed my car and the new Board Computer (BC) doesn't show the time from starting the engine (my previous car BC did it). It was a nice feature and so I thought this could be done by my PocketPC (MDAc) starting the uptime clock when I put it into my active Brodit holder in my car....
You could try this
You could try this software.
Looks good. Will try it. Thanx for your quick response.
I could find any setting in this application to start the clock when charging. Only reset the counter to zero when charging.
Any other apps?
No software available for my request?
sounds like a pretty specific program you want
maybe you should have somebody custom make it for you
seemed to be so.
but is a today screen which displays the charging time such a special thing?
donno never heard about it before
nor have i ever wanted for it before
Contactor-E - it could be written easily enough, but I'm afraid I have no time right now, setting up my website and finishing off another ton of stuff for you guys.
I assume that someone's written one, but I really can't think of one...
V
I will try to start programming my application...
I'll report here about my success.
Some of what you want may be displayed with Beemer's TodayWarrior:
http://personales.ya.com/beemer/todaywarrior1.htm
There are various toggle icons that show: battery %, elapsed time from last charge, charging, estimated remaining battery time, time to 100% charge, battery volts, current (mA), consumption (mW), temperature. There are also icons for power off, always on, etc.
However, I had problems with its WiFi monitoring side (this can be disabled). It would detect the WLAN, but then hang the application and Xda Exec. The extra WiFiKnife utility didn't work, however, my problems may have been because I ran it from SD-card - haven't had time to test further.
Thank you, but TodayWarrior does not support showing the charging time. Only "Charging" is displayed when connected on power.
here's one
it shows the charging time as well as the time running on batteries. also shows battery indicator and device active time (time the device is turned ON and not sleeping).
it can hide or change its size when running on batteries/charging to save screen space.
you can customize it separately for charging/batteries
see screen shorts
have fun.

Slight slip up here, this file is actually a RAR-archive and NOT a ZIP-archive. After downloading it, rename the extension from .zip to .rar.

thanks, RAR did what I told it to do and not what I wanted it to do
Tried this on Windows Mobile 5, on the O2 Exec (Universal), and couldn't get it to do anything at all.
Hi zfiser!
Works GREAT !!!!!!!!!!! on my MDA compact !!!!
Wow!!!!!!!
Just installed but seems that this is the application I looked for!!!!!!!
Whrer did you find this app? Did you program it?
Do you know what the plugin number is for?
Thanks again!!!
Yes Works great on my Qtek 9100 under WM 5.0
Thanks for this app
The plugin number is to indicate the height you want for the plugin on the today page.
UPDATE
all right guys, since actually 3 people got it and 2 even got it working, I decided to spent some more hours on it. it's quite fun actually.
so, what is new?
1) AUTOSIZE - the plugin automatically decides its height based on your setting. You can still manually override it.
2) ACTUAL CHARGING TIME - now showing time it's plugged in to outlet and also time the battery was charged for. when the battery is fully charged the time stops and you can see how long it took to charge it.
3) ICONS! yea! I think that's pretty cool, saving you a lot of space on the screen while showing everything, plus it looks freaking awesome!
4) more options - the plug can turn itself to color red when the battery level falls under a certain percentage, set by you. now you can't overlook that your battery is almost dead
5) BUGFIXES, yea, that nasty bug not showing minutes, I noticed too, some minor tweaks
Checkout the screenshots! And have fun. And if you still miss something in this plugin (tetris, nude women, etc), let me know
IMPORTANT NOTICE: You MUST disable the plugin in TODAY screen setting (uncheck the checkbox) BEFORE upgrading. Make sure the plugin does not show on the Today screen before you upgrade!
I made the upgrade this morning => no problem
I just want to say that I had to make a soft reset after installation otherwise the plugin didn't show on today screen.
You've done big improvments since the first version
- good idea the icons to save place
- thanks for the autosize
- I'm going to test it this wee-end but no bug at this time
- what about a log file to keep trace of every data that zfTCT record ? Could be useful I think.

[Q] G2X "Fully Charged" notification overrides alarm notification?

I'm test driving a G2x for a few days, considering an upgrade from the Vibrant S. One thing I find that is kind of annoying is the "battery fully charged" window stays at the forefront when my alarm goes off, which doesn't allow me to use the screen swipe to mute or snooze my alarm. Since I stick my phone on the charger on my nightstand each evening, and use the phone alarm every morning, the alarm is always going off when the phone is fully charged.
If I press the volume down button on the side it quiets the alarm, but I'd prefer to use the screen if possible. Any setting or fix for this?
Thanks for any guidance you can offer.
What? When does the battery fully charged use a popup window? I know the Galaxy S 2 does this, which is one of the current bugs.
But I've never seen this on the LG G2x unless you are using a special Alarm app.
Every morning my alarm goes off and I choose Snooze or Dismiss from the Alarm Popup. Never have I seen a battery popup, that would be stupid.
My stock G2x pops up a window that says "Fully charged, please disconnect your charger from the wall to save power" which has nothing to do with the alarm, and which must be dismissed first to interact with the alarm!
Exactly! Makes for a fumbling start to my day as I first unplug the phone to dismiss the alarm.
On the plus side there's no "alarming" notification when the phone is fully charged, like the Vibrant belches out. Talk about a ridonkulous "feature".
Weird.
I never experienced it. I don't think my battery ever reaches 100. Always says 99. Of course I'm on CM7 so maybe that was their "fix".

How To Extend Battery Life

So, i managed to get 21 hours out of my battery and that was with quite a bit of usage and with the WiFi turned on all day.
I'll share what i'm running.
I'm no expert so i'm only posting what is working for me to help new people out.
Juice Defender
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.latedroid.juicedefender.beta&feature=more_from_developer
Ditch your charger - increasing battery life has never been so easy!
Always carrying your charger around? You don't need to!
JuiceDefender intelligently and transparently manages for you mobile connectivity and other battery-sensitive components, greatly improving battery life.
I have this set to aggressive.
Android Booster
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.netqin.mobileguard&feature=search_result
Android Optimizer. Make your droid faster. Save battery power. Monitor traffic
Android Booster FREE is one of the most powerful apps that can improve your Android’s performance!
You will find all the following productivity/utility solutions in this app:
Task Killer + Battery Saver + Memory Booster + Uninstaller + File Manager + Settings + Network Manager + Process Manager
These can optimize your android phone via task managers, battery manager, one-click turn on/off wifi, mobile network manager, Bluetooth manager and so on.
The Coolest thing is the Android booster Widget. It’s totally one-click optimization to manage WiFi, Bluetooth, mobile network & power display.
I placed the widget on the screen and after every use of the phone, i always click the optimize button.
APNDroid
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.google.code.apndroid&feature=search_result
Control your phone's internet connection. Pay less for data. Save battery life.
Prevents your phone from connecting to the internet over the mobile connection - 3G/EDGE/GPRS. Saves money for the data plan and also improves the battery life. Adds suffix to APN names and types to disable them.
I use this because i noticed that even though i connect through Wifi quite a lot, my phone is still using my data plan also. To make sure i don't use my data plan when i don't want to, i've placed the widget on the screen.
Other
Screen Brightness set to Auto
Bluetooth off unless i need it (AndroidBooster can sort this also)
Same applies to Wifi.
As i said, this is what works for me and i'm just sharing in case it helps anyone here.
Thanks

I'm not a power user.. but I'm getting ~2 days use simply by using Timeriffic with a schedule such as
11pm - turn on Airplane mode (ie. shut off all radios).. I'm in bed and dont want to hear from you
6am - remove Airplane mode
7am - enable Bluetooth while I drive to work
8am - disable Bluetooth, set ringer to vibrate
5pm - turn ringer back on, enable Bluetooth for drive home
6pm - turn Bluetooth off
rinse, wash, repeat (the 7am,8am,5pm events are only on weekdays).
There are multiple apps which support this kind of thing.
I've gone through this with every Android phone I've owned. Juice defender etc just isn't for me. In my opinion it just takes away one of the main features of having an Android phone in the first place.
With a few battery cycles, the battery life will improve. Once we have custom roms it will be even better.

One thing that many people forget about is how often email syncs, how often you have your weather syncing, and any other apps that sync.
Menu / settings / about phone / tell HTC / remove V on both settings and i dropped down to 38ma with wifi on in standby.
5 minutes later i got 6ma.
If this is what was taking all power from the phone i will have a super phone with the best battery

Remove V on both options? huh? I see: Report Errors to HTC checked and two dropdowns.
See if just don't get you people. If your just using your phone for bluetooth vibrate rinse not repeat etc? Wtf why do you have a Sensation 4G? It's a powerhouse phone so if your attempting to get 48 hours of battery life(which basically means your phones screen is never on) Why waste 250 on a phone. Get a dumbphone with bluetooth and your battery can last you a week. Now if your a regular person with a smart phone you simply accept that your battery life will be shot your trade battery life for perfornance. If your emails aren't syncing, facebook, twitter, weather, google music, etc. Then a smart phone is pointless. I use my phone white a bit and i've been getting about 9 hours usage with my phone which is greatttt I play angry birds every thing syncs facebook twitter gmail aim Battleheart etc you name it and I get over 9 hours on a single charge that is great.

Haahaa....very true!!!!
People get Obsessed with battery usage.
What is the point of having this or any superphone if your gonna cut it's balls off from day one.
If you condition the battery properly from day one, you can use it heavily and still get easily a full day....and that's more than anyone should ever ask for from a device this powerful AND beautiful

Sorry maybe you missed the point of the thread..........
There's no such thing as a regular user as you state, everyone does things differently. The point of this thread is to contribute methods that extend maxing out our perfomance, game playing, and all productivity on our devices. If you have nothing to add besides rants and flames, I suggest you just hush, watch and learn.
Right now we can't access/disable some programs that really drain juice. So every little bit helps til we get root.

I'm sorry, but this solution was not working.
It was down to 6ma for a while, but after some minutes it was back to draining my battery with up to 200ma in standby.

What are you using to check your battery MA? I use battery monitor widget and it never shows less than 200ma and I know those numbers have to be off a bit...my battery went down 4% overnight but the widget showed 200ma the whole time! Anyone know a battery ma widget that actually works?

ok i emailed the developer for battery monitor widget and he sent me an updated apk. but i think it was a simple option that he added that has seemed to fix the problem. Now im getting regular readings like 2ma and so on. i would email the developer and tell him your having the same problem as jahmezis45 and see if he can help. Hope this helps!
i have same problem with battery monitor, it is allways over 200mA

yea its reading the information from the device wrong. email the developer, email address is in his program on the android market
I dont know why I bother having a smartphone, it spends so much time in the charger, I might as well call it landline
First thing, I stopped using all battery and current monitoring apps when I realized they were a part of the problem and not part of a solution. They are simply drawing power and keeping the phone awake and are not really accurate anyways. Only actual usage time matters. Can you use it throughout the whole day with "normal" (for you!) usage patterns?
If you have something draining your battery over time, it is likely to be an app keeping the phone awake so it doesn't go into deep sleep mode.
Connect the USB cable to the phone and PC and run this command:
Code:
adb shell dumpsys alarm > AlarmDump.txt
Then have a look at the file, towards the bottom you get Stats. In here is the breakdown of what's causing the device to wake up. (h/t catnap)
The screen may be the single biggest drawer of power, so I usually suggest disabling auto-brightness and setting the brightness to a level you can work with, for me around 25% works. I also edit my build.prop and change the supplicant timer from 120 to 900 to prevent WiFi from pinging my remembered networks as often, turn off open network notification, and run the mobile network on 3G instead of 4G since it uses less power.
Some other things to do include turning off pocket mode under the sounds settings (turns off proximity detector) and disable vibrate feedback.

[Q] Time to charge app?

Is there an app that either within the app or by use of a widget would estimate and allow you to see how much time remaining to fully charge your phone when plugged in?
I've searched and can't seem to find anything.
Whenever I plug my phone it to charge I'd love to be able to take a quick look at an app or widget to see an estimate of how long until a full charge.

Battery Monitor Widget does that and loads more. Free too.
Checking the app out now, and indeed it does have a great deal of info, but it's not jumping right out at me where/how to tell how much longer to a full charge.
Update,...
Never did find what I was looking for in Battery Monitor Widget, but stumbled upon an app named Battery Spy that shows the time to charge among other things.

Clock using considerable battery

So i just got my phone and set up my timer to wake me up for work. I don't like using an alarm because due to not having a set bed time(I work nights).
Before I went to bed I finished charging the phone to 100% and set the time for 8hr and 30 minutes and to not disturb. When the timer went off I looked at the phone was at 57%. I looked at the battery usage and it showed the clock had used over 25% of the battery.
I've never noticed this being a problem with other phones till this one. Is this normal?
I'm guessing the timer is preventing the phone from going into dose / sleep mode, or keeps waking it up regularly while it counts down
You can hold the home button to activate Google assistant and just say something like "Set an alarm for 7 hours", assistant will say "Done" and your alarm will go off in 7 hours
Try clearing it's data. Start over.
Also possible battery usage is being misreported as another app may be responsible. I've seen this happen occasionally.

Wait....you set a Timer or an Alarm? I don't think a timer would allow the phone to sleep but I wouldn't expect it to use that much batter power. Was it background or foreground usage?
I set a timer. If I read it correctly it was active usage
