I'm using the beta N on my honor 8.
When I'm using Netflix or Amazon I don't get the cast sign on the apps.
I can cast via the Google home app so the phone can detect the chrome cast then but no other way.
Is this a bug in the beta N program ?
Does anybody else have this issue ?
Or any solutions ?
John
This is probably due to the fact that you are using a beta of Nougat. So it doesn't have all the features yet.

I thought that might be the case.

I think it's just a bug in beta, I casted YouTube directly on TV (on MM)

I'm using b320, and casting works in all the ways I'm aware of, netflix, full screen, etc. I guess I'm not aware of any other way to cast. Is there some built in applet for this and if so, where is it?
NM: I see "mirrorshare" which works for me fine in nougat with only Roku, not chromecast. It doesn't sound as if it's meant to work with chromecast from reading the docs online.

What I'm taking is the cast sign that is ment to appear on the top right hand of the screen when using Netflix.
I found out that Amazon doesn't include the option to cast as it wonts u to use of fire stick but with Netflix there is the option with the other phones that I use just not this Honor 8
I'm putting it down to it being a beta.
I can cast with the Google home so I will survive.

I recently pulled the Wired Magazine .apk from a cousin's Kindle Fire, and have found that it works well on the Nexus 7, and presumably other tablets. The current version is ̶2̶.̶7̶.̶0̶.̶1̶1̶.̶6̶0̶2̶0̶1̶ 2.9, and the only downside is that it seems like the magazine itself does not fill the entire screen while in viewing mode.
Some prerequisites:
-both Adobe Air and the Amazon Appstore must be installed (you must be logged in, too) for the app to function
-if you have an ad blocker installed, you must add any any websites that include adobe to your whitelist. Mine included "broker.adobe.com" and "stats.adobe.com". This might not be necessarily, but it is a good precaution. If you ignore this and the app crashes, uninstall it and add them.
Just install the app normally after checking the first two things. Also, you must have already purchased the magazines (at least in my testing). If you have a print subscription, I would advise creating your account on a computer, not in the app.

Thanks for this, any chance of pulling the latest version? I believe it's 2.9 or so.
Thanks! Works great on my N73G.
Just wanted to say thanks. I also have the problem of the app not filling the screen on the Nexus 7. Funny that it (presumably) works on the Kindle Fire HD, which is the same resolution.

The Kindle Fire HD is the same screen resolution, but the regular Kindle Fire is not. It's 1024x600 vs 1280x800, a short coming of ~200 pixels in each direction. This could explain the black edges. Maybe it defaults to the 1024x600 resolution unless it sees some indication of being on a Fire HD (ie: build.prop or other file). If so, I imagine there could be a fix for this to mimic the HD and get the full resolution.
OR, Wired could just release the damn app for all Android platforms. :silly:

I think you're right, but I unfortunately don't have access to a Fire HD. I think they use different versions on each different model, so that might be why. That is a complete guess, through.

Yeah, F* that. Wired will give a free interactive digital issue to iPad and Kindle owners, but charge existing subscribers extra for some crappy PDF version that I could download for free from a number of places.
If Wired doesn't change it's tune, I'm planning on cancelling once my current subscription is over - just on principle.

On N7, Wired app says "App not owned" and redirects to amazonappstore and there I get the "App is not Compatibile" message.

I used to get this error on my Nook Color but was able to successfully ignore it. Make sure you have the Amazon App store installed, logged in and updated. I think you also need Adobe Air. If you haven't already, "purchase" the Wired app in the Amazon app store via the web. It won't let you download the app and will say your device isn't compatible, but maybe it will get rid of the ownership message. I'm guessing here, so no promises this will fix anything.
Still not working on my n7. I've gotten it to work on my cm7 nook color, but I've tried everything on my n7. I've even re-installed the amazon app store and adobe air. I've also tried the previous version of the wired magazine apk. I get everything to install and open normally, I just can't log in to download my subscriptions. Anyone have any other suggestions?
The messed up thing about this is that it was a wired article that I was reading on my nook color that made me want to upgrade to the n7.

Make sure you disable any ad blocking software or changes made to your hosts file to block ads. This prevents you from logging in to the app.
Thanks, but I'm not running any ad blocking software (unless there's a native app on the n7 that's doing this and I'm not aware of it).

If you have Adobe Air installed, then I don't know what you can do. Try uninstalling Air and the Wired, and then re-install them. If that doesn't work, I don't know what to tell you. Wired doesn't offer ANY support so you're just out of luck.
Hoping someone can help. Running paranoid android on a note 2. Installed Adobe air and Amazon AppStore (logged in). I am able to open app, sign in, download, and install an issue...but when I go to view the issue it crashes/force closes.
Any advice?

Google play finally allows you to sign up for free subscriptions using your existing print subscription. As of today, there is no longer a need to do the Wired app dance with Amazon.

Just updated to the LJ02 firmware on my AllShare Cast Dongle and have noticed a few improvements
Video and Audio quality are noticeably improved
I no longer have to reset the dongle in order to re-connect. However I still have to reboot the phone before connecting.
I have not tested this myself, but according to Steve Kondik (Cyanogen), the update makes the dongle compatible with 4.2 miracast.
Only negative is that I feel like there might be a slight increase in lag.
Here are the steps to update the firmware on your AllShare Cast Dongle.
To install this update you're phone must be running a TouchWiz ROM with AllShare Cast. It appears that Verizon is blocking the update (of course) so you will need to follow either of the following to update.
You can download the AllShare Cast update apk.
OR
You can modify your build.prop. I set mine to the Sprint S3 and it worked no problem.
Modifying your build.prop requires root access. As always, I recommend running a Nandroid backup of your system partition before modifying your build.prop.
And of course, I'm not responsible for any damage you do to your phone/dongle from following my guide.
Backup your build.prop file (system/build.prop).
Modify your build.prop to the below values (I use build.prop editor)
ro.product.model=SPH-L710
ro.product.name=d2spr
ro.product.device=d2spr
Reboot your device
Download the AllShare Cast update from the Google Play store.
Connect your phone to your AllShare Cast Dongle and accept that you wish to install the update.
Restore your build.prop file or manually set it to the following:
ro.product.model=SCH-I535
ro.product.name=d2vzw
ro.product.device=d2vzw
You may need to reboot your phone in order to connect to the dongle after the update installs.
I hope this helps somebody out there. Good luck and enjoy your new firmware!

Up to this point I think the attitude has been more "wait-and-see" with Miracast. It still is a little buggy, but I am really liking it so far. Being able to watch content on my TV from my phone without wires is a real game changer imo. For example, a couple weeks back my wife and I wanted to watch Lord of the Rings in order to get psyched up for The Hobbit. I have all three movies on my PC, so I was able to stream them to my phone via DLNA and watch them on the TV with AllShare Cast. It was a real round-about way to watch them, but it worked great!

Or allshare cast dongle fixed.
Just install "ScreenMirroring Patch" from Google play.

Wanted to put this out there because I could not find a fix searching Google. Hope this helps.

If anyone is using the AllShare Cast Hub device, can you tell me what output resolution your device is using since KitKat. Mine which are on old firmware (no way to update the firmware with S4 or Note3!!), output 1080p/30 which is an unusual resolution and my Panasonic TV doesn't support it. Prior to KitKat, it was still 720p on the hub device even the phone is of course 1080
Resolution is 1920x1080 full hd.I tryed now a movie i am on uk 4.4.2 and is working.

Yes the 1080 bit I agree...its the refresh bit thats the problem. At 1080, you can have 50/60Hz (most common), 24p (blu-ray) and 30p (weird things). Samsung is using the 30p connection which is what is causing me all the problems
for those who can't search or just can't be ar**d!

Well, you can stick it in your pocket and take it anywhere. Hotel room or work. Bluray player stays at home. The allshare/screen mirroring is way better with my LG tv. I can plug my headphones into the phone and watch the tv. The cast hub will disconnect if you keep the headphones plugged in.

Just switched from the V20 to note 8. I just found out last night while I was trying to mirror an Amazon show from my phone to my TV through the Chromecast that apparently the Note 8 is not optimized. Also tried it with Netflix just to make sure it wasn't an isolated thing with Amazon. Does anyone know a workaround for this. Generally not an issue because I use Showbox or one box for most of my shows.
Sent from my SM-N950U using XDA-Developers Legacy app
I read somewhere that Amazon video isn't compatible with Chromecast. I believe there is a workaround by watching in a browser and casting the browser to the TV. I haven't tried it myself.
I have no issues with casting YouTube, but haven't tried anything else.
Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
That's true it isn't compatible with Chromecast. However on other devices such as my v20. I could open up the Chromecast app select mirror screen to TV. And I can play Amazon movie or show on my phone and it would mirror it to the TV it wasn't ideal cuz there was some lag sometimes. But with the Note 8 it just puts up a black screen with sound will also do the same thing with Netflix so it's more than just the Amazon issue
