I just got my nexus phone and im looking for a good rom to use as my daily driver. Do you have any recommendations ?
Krexus 7.1.1 OMS7, has great customization. google camera working recording, animated navbar
RR is most feature rich, but google camera is buggy
Dirty unicorns latest RC, google camera working, Great customization, inbuilt DU updater, OMS7 (I use latest RC version with working camera)
Your decision
What's the status on the latest pure nexus 7.1.1 for nexus 6p?
Thank You

I am using krexus 7.1.1. The rom is awesome.
But can you recommend any custom kernel for krexus 7.1.1?

The best clean & smooth ROM with Extraordinary combination of battery life and performance is DARK ROM
Includes all Pixel features and you can feel it.
Working Google assistant without hot word enrollment problem (Google beta)
Available in CAF and AOSP
Just give it a try. I am sure you will fall in love with it .

So what is the difference between pixn and carbon rom. They are both aosp? I am thinking about flashing aosp but there is too much to read about pixn
For now pixn is better because of working Camera, otherwise they are almost identical
Pixin pure aosp
For me device 53) camera works better in carbon, but flashlight not works. Some other mods included. Carbon is zip install and works better
Does fingerprint works on both pixn and carbon rom for you guys?

Miui 8 except camera error
- MIUI 8 is good for moderate use, great battery life and no heating issue(Camera flash bug). Rom is bit slow.
- RR 5.8.0 is good but it has heating issue and battery problem even with Caesium Kernel. It has data toggle reboot problem.
- My recommendation Cm14, CM13 with VoLTE and LineageOS without VoLTE (Best rom for our device as per my view), hope LineageOS comes with VoLTE.
1.MiUi is one of the best roms if you want simplicity and a few customization, the theme store is very well maintained and the music player is beautiful , additionally they have the best animations in the game!
2. RR rom is pretty stable and quiet polished..but it has battery issues, camera issues and a lot more..But it has a vast amount of settings available..so if you love flashing customizing and all that developer stuff then go for RR
3. The other option is Aosp ..it has one of the most polished UI and the everything works pretty fine! The battery life is great..and the customization is to its peak.
(AND IF YOUR FLASHING ANY 7.1 ROM MAKE SURE YOU FLASH A CUSTOM KERNEL)
Hello, As stated in the topic, looking for a good and stable ROM. Version doesn't matter - camera is a priority.; also I hate lagging and so may want to avoid Android 7. Will the official build (Oxygen OS) be the best?
If another ROM like Lineage is good, what would be a good and stable kernel?

Camera wise, the difference is unnoticeable.
Slim7, plain and simple. Doze works well. No lag.
Candy7, just like slim7 but with more customization.
Carbon, overall fantastic. No lag. Good battery. Weekly updates.

If you want the best camera and stability sure goes to jgcarp cm13 its literally the best rom with colour os camera and performance also are good highly recommended
Camera is a priority. Well, Sultan's Lineage 14.1 build is the only valid answer. ColorOS camera blobs and some other optimizations. Front camera full hd recording, very fast autofocus, high framerate video recording etc.
Also you are getting fresh Nougat rom, not old Android 6.0. Strongly recommended.
Thank you all. I have installed the Sultan's unofficial Lineage OS. I haven't installed the Google Apps yet, and so far the system is fast. Not sure I need Google Apps, as this phone is intended to be used as a media consumption device + camera.
EDIT: Probably YouTube would be required on the device, hence Playstore and Services would need to be installed. Let's see how much it impacts the performance.
best camera you can get is from cm13 jgcapp recomended build is 15th October build

Sultans rom doesnt have color os blobs mate it uses its own which to be fair is much better than the standard cm blobs, i find color os to be the best though ! I'm personally on aospextended sultanized because its PERFECT and on linage, however if you dont mind what android your running i suggest jgcaaps cm13, i lasted nearly a year with it !

Afaik unmodified color os blobs don't allow 4k recording.
Thanks all, yeah Android version is not very important for this device. Is jgcaaps cm13 / color OS better in the camera department than Sultan's? And I don't use 4K video recording - files are too big and storage space is limited. Videos are mostly 1080p and sometimes 1440p.

Nougat roms do not support color os camera plugins ( 50mpx eg.) .
I also use a lot the camera. My sweet spot is marshmallow resurrection remix with color os camera, since it allows me to shoot long exposure , raw , 50mpx.

About camera quality is only a question of different opinion. I'm my opinion, is the best camera from nougat ROMs.
See SS about plugins working on onmirom
About performance, you just have to change CPU governor (interactive for example) because default governor doesn't give the best user experience.

Ok...so now I have tested all the roms based on android 8.0 oreo and they were pretty awesome but were a bit laggy and unstable...
My question to the developers is that is it possible to develop a stable rom (like pure nexus or dark rom 7.1) for nexus 5 based on android 8.1 OREO??
If it is in development then pls let the nexus 5 users know when the rom is going to be released
BTW...best of luck devs for making this phone still alive in its 5th year?

ETA's are just about impossible. Especially since I don't a developer who doesn't do this on their own time. Keep checking the deployment sections as I'm sure there will be more to come.

AICP Oreo (based on Android 8.1)
GAPPS Link
There you go. However, please note that there a some major glitches with this ROM. I've already reported these bugs on [ROM] Hammerhead Oreo ROMS Not Listed On XDA channel.
1) There is no audio at all.
2) None of the Google apps can connect to internet. Eg. YouTube, Google assistant, Play Music, etc. The only thing that works is PlayStore and web browsers.
3) Mobile data does not work.
Performance however isn't an issue. It's smooth.
However, I've great hopes with the future builds of this ROM. It's under the hood changes are fantastic.

By the way, nice home screen setup. Looks similar to Pixel 2.
Oreo ROMs are compatibility slower than Nougat ROMs in my opinion. I really wanted to continue using AICP 13.1 as my daily driver. However, it has started to lag a lot.
The smoothest Nougat ROM I've used till date is SAOSP ROM based on Android 7.1.2

You'll never get any good shots with the stupid potato camera on what otherwise is a great device. But if you insist, then go with OmniROM. The last build is five months old now, but it's the most recent rom with ColorOS blobs, which are considered to be the best.

Dirty Unicorns with Thunder kernel absolutely. Amazing smoothness and battery life, the kernel also supports any kind of customisation so you can fine tune it to your liking. I tried a lot of Oreo ROM and definitely recommend DU + Thunder kernel. You can find everything you need on Dirty Bacon Telegram group, ask me in PM if you need the invitation link.

I've been reluctant to try out Oreo on the OnePlus One due to stability concerns, but I saw this reply and I love Dirty Unicorns roms, so may I ask how is the stability? Does everything work?
Also, what is your screen on time?
Hi everyone!
i also prefer roms with ColorOs blobs because of the long exposition, does anyone know of a way to avoid the upside/down videos recorded on roms with ColorOS blobs, fv-5 camera has a setting to "invert" on photos but i've been unable to find a setting on its "sister" app "cinema fv-5", has anyone managed to solve this issue?
Is it possible to have ColorOS blobs on sultan's lineageOS 14? if yes, which version of lightning kernel should i install? i know i could use darkobas or jgcaap roms but on those roms the playstore wont let me install some apps like gps or photo/video apps, i could use something like aptoide etc but i would prefer not to.
For me the best roms are the "sultanized" roms for video recording, for photos i recomend the ones with coloros blobs

There are no major bugs, everything works or, at least, everything I tried (WiFi, mobile data, Bluetooth, microphone, camera, GPS, hotspot, you know, basic stuff). About stability I can tell you that I had some freezes and app crashing now and then but my OPO was undervolted so it's almost certain that the problems came from that (I gave up undervolting today so I can update you about stability in a few days). My SOT is actually insane given that my battery is at 80% of its original capacity: more than 4 hours on 3G with really bad reception and screen brightness <50%. Mind that as I said in my first answer I'm not using ROM's built in kernel but Thunder kernel (from the same developer) and I achieved that SOT using battery saving profile set in Spectrum (no lags or bad performance in everyday use anyway) + Greenify + Amplify (both in free version).
I'm glad to say that After updating for the new build omni rom (12.08.2018) getting more battery efficiency and stable.
