How install root in lg v10 h900 - AT&T LG V10

I want to install root on lg v10 h900 6.0 mm
Plz help me

Read any of the 73 threads that reaffirm that there's no way to root the v10 on MM. And, more than likely, it will never happen.

i want to root too.
the new update (Software Version H90021X) is came out, maybe is the time to have root of h90020j~

V10 issues...
I have a lg v10 from at&t. Cricket is my carrier. The software version is h90020I. I can't do the hotspot or bluetooth tethering. My internet is shaky and it will jump off and on my wifi saying the signal is weak but all of my other devices show a strong signal. Anyone else have these issues?? Also my phone has so many apps from the factory that I don't use anyway to take this mess off?? I'm new to this but willing to learn if anyone can point me in the right direction. Also what are the " must have" apps or mods??? Thanks in advance!

Your software version is h90020i? Are you sure?Because my v10 is h90020j.
And the wifi jump off maybe cause by the case~
My phone is also jump off some time

You are right typo on my part I have the h90020j.. Sorry! I'm new to this and couldn't figure out how to edit the post after I posted it!

This is the problem smart phones have and PCs dont. If my PC's wifi stops working, i change out the wifi adapter. In smart phones, they have a thing called an SOC or (System On Chip). Now what this does is shrink vital and non vital parts of the phone and put them in a single chip. So like i said about changing my wifi adapter; that adapter is not a single piece of hardware, its built into that single chip, along with the cpu, gpu, usb controller, storage, ram, ect. So when they pick a chip to put in the mewest flagship phone, they cant just pick the best of each function. They can get a great cpu that includes horrible wifi capabilities. So some of these problems go back on the chip manufacturers. Thats why alot of chipsets that are thoughouly checked and rated, they are rated by every thing the chip can do and how well each function operates. We need a new breakthrough in chipsets that will also allow faster cpus, gpus and ram without sacrificing other functionalities like wifi and bluetooth.

I update my lg v10 h900 in LGUP from 90020j to 90021w. I lost many things even I can't uninstall any 3rd party apps.. if I try to uninstall my mobile rebooting automatically.
When try to open fingerprint and security so getting error ( unfortunately the process.com.android has stopped. ) it's make me crazy.. don't update urgent mobile otherwise u will face many error like I'm facing and it's no Samsung were we can use Odin to any ROM. It's a f****ng LG we can't go back to lollipop version. Hell

[Q] skyrocket tethering without root

Just got the "skyrocket" with AT&T absolutely impressed with the download speed in northern jersey more than7mbs. is that because the LTE is up here without an official announcement. I use to get nothing more than 1-2 mbs.
Now my main question is (are):
Can I tether for free without rooting?
Can I do that wirelessly?
Also would want to just using usb cable for one pc and pdaNet software so wifi signal would not show on my pc, is that possible?
Thank you.
You can share your phone's internet connection with your PC or laptop, yes. But to properly do so, you have to root it. You can use Super One Click to do that. Once rooted, you can download tethering apps from the Market...
Thank you BKALAAS
My main concern was HOW would I go about to do the tethering without rooting?
If I have to root, shouldn't be a specific program for the skyrocket or just use Superclick as you suggested.
Thanks again
What kind of phone do you have? HTC phones support this by default with the WIFI router tool and there is an tethering option by default to. This option is, as mentioned by bklaas2, available through the standard internet sharing option in android when you connect your usb cable. But please tell us which phone you have and more importantly, which OS
Hi, I have the just the just released today Samsung galaxy skyroket.
I am looking to tether data from AT&T wireless provider to my pc. preferably without unlocking with and without cable.

can you do another speedtest?
if it' 7mb again, i getting this phone too!
i'm in San Francisco bayarea, no LTE.
I suggest to root with superclick. And then install a tethering app

Thank you,
I will wait till someone could figure out a way for tethering without rooting the phone, thank you, The thank you btton on your profile not working.
Also for the person asking abot the LTE, it only shows 4g, no LTE, getting a speed from 3 to 8 mega bit per second which is something I was not getting on the other phones.
Go ahead and root it, you can always go back. Ultimately all your doing is unlocking phone to have it do what you want. You'll have access to more apps and utilities on the market.
The only way I know to do what you're asking is with PDAnet. They charge a 1 time fee, and it works pretty well.

I also get these speeds on just 3g in washington.
The current 3g networks are capable of these speeds. LTE would be much faster, I would hope anyway

ATT charges extra for both unltd. data and tethering for general retail. (I have a corp. discounted account, and somehow still have unltd data, but I had that since before the change - I threatened to leave with the other 2 lines if they didnt I couldnt keep it - I dont have tethering since that was a feature that came later.)
At first tethering was free if you could do it. That was true even in the time of flip phones. With the right cable, and understanding of how the devices worked with each other, could do anything from upload media to (with the right drivers) set up a dial up connection in XP using the phone as the modem. GPRS was not fast, it was only practical in limited applications. 3G in general changed that. Once the average user was able to do their variety of average things, which really does use a lot of bandwidth, not like heavy torrent user, but still, enough if they use it often, carriers started making the software to support charging for the ability. The problem is that each phone has to do it differently since they dont have easy ways to delineate; carriers arent allowed to look at the data to truly know what it came from, even based on protocol alone, you cant tell anymore. So now they are slowly working out ways to lock down their devices, which come from too many manufacturers. Some of whom just dont get it. Really. (*cough* HTC)
I have been using the Samsung Captivate for a little over a year, which in itself is a small miracle, I mean, a YEAR, actually 14 months!
The reason why is that the hardware is great. This is the unbrickable phone! And I don't mean through handy gadgets, or ripping the phone apart and doing microsurgery, I mean no matter what stupid thing you do playing with roms, including pulling the USB cable out mid-process, the core BIOS is still fine 99% of the time. Whats more, is that when the phone first came out the tethering was totally open, and ANY user could just use KIES to get online. Soon after that a firmware update for the phone included the pieces necessary to charge to tether. Then I started trying the different ROMS, or was it before? I use Serendipity 6.3 because it seems to be the only thing that works reliably, and doesnt look like crap. Which is really a shame! But it is the lightweight ROM with root access, and innate tethering, and honestly, I never wanted anything else but some angry birds. Ok so the google platform, and my exchange account had to all work too. Serendipity it was, and no, could never seem to get 7 working well.
The thing is, I dont like having even to use another app to tether, which is a bit ideological. I basically refuse to pay more to use the phone when its connected to my computer. I dont want to compromise in any way on this, and using an application that is not the phone's OS uses other resources when it otherwise would not (RAM + CPU = battery use = ). And because ehh, Samsung/Att bloatware isnt that cool, custom boot ROMS are. Although no gf ever thought it was that cool waiting for me to get one of them on... Well I would be annoyed if that was a compromise, but who would want to go look at leaves anyway? #Winning!
Seriously though, to me it comes down to its has to be simple, and I dont want to charge my phone 8 times a day for simple! Have you guys seen the size of this screen! Thats not even practical. Id hate to walk around with that in my pants. But since I am due for an upgrade, Im just going to wait until the thanksgiving sales to see if anything else comes out (which I doubt). Looking at the Skyrocket, it's a beast. For one thing this phone has "4G speeds delivered by HSPA+ (with enhanced backhaul)" which means it can go REALLY REALLY fast like 1-2mb/s not mbps, Mb down. Thats like little fios in my pocket! and theres a 1850 mAh battery stock (better if your going to make me carry around a small table top!) which there really is no way around with a 1.5ghz dual core, 1gb or RAM and a WVGA screen.
Personally I really liked the concept of smaller handset with a tablet/netbook to dock in, but apparently I was alone there. And HTC just doesnt make nice devices, sorry, but Samsung is just a much larger company, and it seems the better motorola phones are still coming out for V so for Att, Samsung it is.. At least they're easy to root.

Potentially HUGE BUYER'S REMORSE!?

Hey guys and gals, Please advise.
I've been a Sprint customer for 2 years my contract is up. Had an HTC hero which was an amazing phone considering it's age.
I bought 2 VM phones; the optimus V for the wife, and the Motorola Triumph for me. Owneed them both for 12 hours and I'm a bit concerned.
I've rooted them both and removed some bloat. I looked online and see nothing but praise for the optimus V and the MT looks like a lemon based on reviews! I noticed some lag on the touchscreen (I tried to ignore it but the killer is the GPS, the optimus found location in 5 seconds, and the MT was still searching after 5 minutes.
Should I return this thing? Is it a software problem or hardware? Will a custom ROM help?
Please tell me if i should exchange it for the optimus.
Had the same feeling back in August when I purchased the phone. Do yourself a favor and install CM7. You will notice an insane difference; it’s more like owning an entirely different phone. That thing they call an operating system that’s installed out of the box is an insult to both the user and the phones hardware which is actually very good. It took me a few weeks to get the guts to install the Rom but it came to either that or throw the thing in the Delaware. Now a days you could not rip the device from my cold dead hands. I use the TG reloaded build and if you’re not familiar with Roms CM7 is for the most part the closest thing you can get to striate up Google's Gingerbread with a few tweaks and no Virgin Bloatware. Anyhow with the correct software the Triumph is a beast and runs circles around some of my friends higher end phones using their stock Roms. Also, the processor used on the Triumph is used in other devices as a 1.4g processors, including a few tablets so don’t be afraid to crank it up a notch or two. Also the TG Reloaded edition uses a 64 MHz minimum frequency when idle compared to the 246 MHz minimum used in the stock Rom, literally doubles the battery life.
Yes, give the CM7 TG-Reloaded ROM a try. The Motorola Triumph is based on Huawei Ideos X6 reference design, which is sold as different variants world-wide. The hardware is very capable, but either the Motorola people or those responsible for getting it to work on VM were very sloppy, so all the bugs in stock ROM. Most have been addressed in CM7, but still some remain.
As for the better battery life, the 61 mhz low freq helps only a little, other factors include less junk running in the background, battery-optimized interactive governor, and wakelock bugs in the stock kernel that prevent phone from entering deep sleep mode (common, but hard to track problem on a lot of Android phones).
I love my MT running miui [email protected] there's a agps fix somewhere on this site. I personal don't have any issues with this phone

Thanks for the replies.
I agree that CM7 makes this phone waaaayyy smoother than stock. I still get an occasional lag on the touchscreen and the 4 "buttons" on the bottom are sometimes unresponsive; but this thing is awesome. The only reason the Optimus V is more popular is because it's cheaper. The MT is sexy :^)
The thing I miss from my HTC Hero was the ease of wireless tethering. I didn't really use it much, but it was nice to know I could run any piece of hardware without any mods.
Does the CM7 TG reloaded ROM have an OC kernel built in or do I need to flash one?

I may be close to fixing the touchscreen issue, it bugs me too. CM7 allows built-in wireless tethering, and you can add it to be a quick toggle in the notification bar, along with other options. OC kernel is built-in, check out the first post on the ROM thread to read up about all the features.

The first few times I tried to connect it may take a long time for the client (PC) to recognize and go through to the internet, give it a few minutes & try to refresh a webpage. It works for me & others.

I was really excited when you said the CM7 native wifi tether worked...but I couldn't get it to
I even factory reset and wiped everything to make sure it was a fresh attempt. Still nothing. Both my PC and Hp touchpad can find the signal but neither connect/keep the connection. After attempting the connection (and saying it's connected for around 3 seconds) the touchpad will no longer reads the wifi signal.
Any threads on this for me to research? I looked to no avail.

Nevermind, I just tried wireless tether for root users, after about 10 attempts with the native app, and it works! Better to be lucky than good.

VM doesn't support 3rd party Voicemails so getting a visual one may not work... You can ask VM about it and see if they can let you but it may just be a network thing with them...
And the MT is in a low activity section because no one is here there all at android forums...
Triumph has a few hardware issues that won't go away, like GPS and touch response puking randomly.
Also while CM7 does bring extra functionality, it is less stable than stock.
Optimus V is basically the only solid prepaid phone on VM.
Hopefully Sprint learned their lesson to not rebrand POS phones and instead, use existing phones that have proven themselves. We will likely see much better phones by end of 2012 based on what was said at CES '12, so just hang tight.

Yea... by the end of 2012, well its the beginning right now and if they don't start getting newer phones, I may have to switch to another company... I heard Straight Talk is getting the LG Optimus 2X so that may be incentive enough for me. VM needs to get a dual core and not just keep bringing in more and more phones that have 600mhz or 800mhz processors with 3 inch screens...

Yeah that phone looks really promising, but ST is expensive - paying $25 on VM vs $45 for ST, unless you need the higher end plan on VM anyway.
If you're willing to go high end, you can grab a Nexus/GS2 and use it on tmobile's prepaid instead, it's what I'm doing current with TMO's $30/mo plan.

That's what I've heard. If you buy a used/unlocked TMO phone, you can get the TMO activation kit for something like $7 ( it's just a SIM ) and put it in your phone and your good.
This is what I'm thinking about doing myself. I get ok coverage with VM on my LGOV, but not great.
My wife has a TMO Exhibit2-4g and it's a great phone and the service is good as well. She's on the $50/month plan, I'll opt for the $30 I think.

i had both of these phones! i liked the V better. but the MT was newer and bigger so went to that. but still have the V.

The Worst Android Experience Ever: LG

OK guys. I don't know where to start. My first Android based LG Phone was GT540. The phone came with 1.6 and was later updated to 2.1. Although it was able to run 2.2, the update never came...
Updating the firmware with KDZ Updater was also as always pain in the arse. And I don't even tell how crappy the phone was.
Thank god I did not pay for it, it came to me as part of a project.
Now I have this Optimus 3D. Normally, I would be using 2.2 because 2.3 Update is still not released for my country (February 2012!). Anyway, I have updated the phone to 2.3 after struggling with about 20 nonsense step via KDZ Firmware updater. ( Update process failed 3 times just because the firmware filename was wrong.)
Now I have to mess with hosts file and sniffers and other struff to get KDZ Updater to work again.
To downgrade, I have no other option but to use a 10 year old OS, XP. Again not to mention pressing thousands of button combinations again and again to get the phone into download mode, which can be done with just 2 buttons with other phones.
I have updated to 2.3 but now I can not recieve calls. A phone that can notrecieve calls! Congrats LG!
I can not call others either. When I call, after about 3 seconds talk, the phone strats buzzing to my ear and voila, the call ends. When I tried to call back quickly, the phonesays: "Wait! I am doing some internal work". I have no people in my SIM, but it checks them every god damn time...
Also another isue is with 3G. It connects whenever it want's. I have to disable it, enable it, disable it, enable it and hope for it to connect.
Also due to this baseband problem, when someone calls and you are not near the phone, the call does not end. Phone keeps ringing until you dismiss the call. You can not imagine how fast this draws your battery. Sometimes, when you come back to your phone, the battery is over due to this problem.
I can not root it either. I am stuck with this firmware now. So, basically, I have to wait for the ICS, which is told to be out in Q3 2012, whic means I will get it in Q1 2013. B!tch please!
I believe there is nothing more to say.
I feel I am really lucky that I did not pay for O3D either.
I will never advise LG Mobile phones. I want to thank LG for ruining such an open and good platform like Android and closing it down by every means.
True to the last word! I wasn't lucky enough to have the Optimus 3D for free! I actually paid for that crap, so I am twice as disappointed. I'm never buying another LG product again unless I have evidence their support policy has changed.

ok first of all LG support does actually suck. I mean they delivered gb late and with some bugs but flashing a fw which is not for your country and then blaming LG for having missed calls is lame. Lots of people report SOME missing calls but the freq you seem to imply (not getting almost any call) seems it has to do with flashing wrong version of fw for your country. Plus I have not even one missed call so far (being on the fw version for my country) and so do many other people. As much as you and I and everyone else wants to have a rooted version of the phone, rooting is not something that any company has to deliver. What each company tries to do (and lg achieved either by dump luck or by wasting good programmers in patching root instead of fixing gb probs or deliver ics) is to blok root so as to have as little work as possible on their service centers by people who f*@*d up their phones also because rooting itself means there are security isues with the phine which can be exploited. Samsung, sony and all major companies would prevent users from having root if they could I think.
Actually, this is not related to flashing an incompatible FW. People with offical updates are also reporting problems...
You got the phone for free. Stop being such a *****.

I have to say that I too am dissapointed with LG. My optimus 3d worked just fine when it was on 2.2.2. I patiently waited for the official update to come via the LG update software, and after months of waiting the update finally came - unfortunately, I have to say. The first thing I noticed was worse battery life. The battery is draining at least 20% faster than before. And today I experienced the ghost call issue. I hope LG responds to these issues quickly or I'll have to sell my phone. Last thing I need right now is an unreliable phone.

I don't mean this in a nasty way but there is no way you can do that. Your a normal user like all of us except you seem to have the enviable superpower of getting lg phones for free
I'm on stock rom and its fine, no ghost calls or any problems you describe but if your going to mess with roms etc you have to accept that doing so can make the phone worse.
Are you now on stock rom for your country? If so you should still be able to root phone, if not well to be fair to lg its not their fault if you are using non lg firmware and they certainly have no legal duty to you unless your on stock non rooted rom for your country.

I agree with you.
I paid for O3D, paid for unlock, switched from iphone 4, really like 3D, really like android, then suffered missed calls and missed sms, with no notice or warning whatsoever. Tried to get passed it, but after missing an important call and sms from someone the same day, I switched back to my iPhone 4.
I am hopeful LG will at some point resolve the ghost issues, and if that happens SOON, I'll try again, if not - I'll try to sell on ebay or CL, or may get stuck with it and burn my cash............................................
I just love the whole i hacked my phone now it dosent work so its lg's fault i personally love my Lg i have had no troubles other than it came unable to connect to my 850mhz 3G but that was easy fixed maybe flash back to stock?

I have never rooted my phone, nor have I ever installed a custom ROM, or any ROM whatsoever. I used my phone for making phone calls, sending sms, surfing the internet and playing games. Then one day LG PC Suite tells me that there is an update available for my phone. I clicked update and things were never the same again.
Next time inform yourself before you start putting everyone under the same hat.
Same here.. with lg p500 i said LG NEVER AGAIN! 3 times to the guarentee and the same problem every time... now i have a nexus s rooted with ics rom and, what a happiness... i love android and hate ios... here, we are free... but understand what u say, but just because i read LG in yout post...

When I got my O3D I was excited since it was my first dual core phone. I had and HTC Desire(CDMA) before. The phone was great at first, didn't bother rooting the phone or anything. Then I started getting random restarts and found out that I couldn't send email using LGemail with exchange as I would send 3 emails from my phone. So I decided to root and install cm7 nightly my email worked but then not having hdmi or 3D defeated the purpose of even having the phone so I installed GB then ghost calls so I went back to froyo as getting phone calls/texts was more important then my email issue, and paid $20 for Moxier Mail. Which has worked out fine but still having to deal with random reboots which kills my battery.
I know the issue with my phone isn't all LG's fault since my carrier sucks when it comes to working with android. Since I had issues with their other phones Milestone X, Samsung Fascinate(replacement for Milestone X), Galaxy S2.
But I just bought a Dell Venue Pro(WP7) unlocked and it has been working great so far had it for almost a week. No problems yet a couple of annoying things with the OS but a lot less annoying then my O3D issues.
Im thinking of changeing LG 3D, to LG 2x, because of the richer development stage on LG 2x.
They are about he same value in the market. Thought about the nexus S, but that can be the step backwards in the terms of cpu. And it is hard to get, and price is about the same as for new LG 3D, but Nexus S are second hand mostly. New ones are even more expensive than the new LG 3D.
What do you think people ? Is it worth to change to LG 2x ? I want fast and stable custom roms, cm7/9, miui, ICS, all of this

I personally wouldn't change it for the 2X. I would go for the Samsung Galaxy R or something like that. If the ghost call issue isn't fixed in 3 to 4 weeks tops I'll be switching over to WP7 (HTC Titan to be precise). I'm not only getting tired of all these problems, but also getting tired of android too.
Galaxy R is rare in my region. Only nexus s, lg2x, atrix, sensation counts. Sgs2/R is too expensive in my region. If not it would be obvious choice, cause of the development of custom roms.

I also wouldn't do it, not with quad core phones on the horizon. I finally spend few hours today and downgraded my O3D to froyo with acura rom and believe me there is day/night difference now. No more freaking ghost calls, getting all calls, sms, installed all my apps from titanium and it's freaking fast and default clocked at 1300Mhz since they also undervolt it. I heard the GPU is at 400mhz as well.
only prob with camera as it resorts back to lowest resolution but i'm checking into it.
believe me it's brought back life to my almost useless phone.
I would wait for SGIII in near future when i'll swap o3D and iphone4.

Straight talk lg optimus dynamic

Hey guys,
I'm having trouble finding any resources on how to root my Straight Talk Lg L38C Optimus Dynamic. I've used the search function on the xda app with no luck. Could anyone point me in the right direction?

Very little info
I too have found very little info on this phone. I don't own one but my brother picked one up and he is having problems installing apps. The problem is that apps go to "System memory" which only has 160MB. There is also 1GB "Internal memory". Some apps can be moved to internal however it only takes a few apps that can't be moved to fill the meager 160mb system memory and now you can't install any more apps. Mean while the 1gb internal memory sits nearly empty. Anyone got any advise?
I agree. That is the same reason I want to root! By far a great phone for the price, but moving apps to the sd would be outstanding! Once again, any advice or a point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

rageagainstthecage exploit works
Rooted this phone with rageagainstthecage exploit.
Can either do it manually, or using SuperOneClick 1.65. Google is your friend to find a guide.
Coming from a Samsung S950c; this LG Dynamic rocks on basic functionality (root-ability, network download speed (newer ROM radio, me thinks), to name a couple). Screen resolution isn't that hot, though. Love the size, though.
I have pulled all 22 partitions to my SD card via dd command. Can make available as needed.
Has anyone found a working recovery (CWM or TWRP)? I am too chicken to try out the one out there for the generic L3 E400.
And, has LG released the source code for this phone (I could not find it on LG's site)?

Probably a super naive noob question. However, does App2SD not work on this phone? MUST I root the phone in order to move apps off the system memory and to the SD card?
I ask because I have just found this phone at a Walmart about 60 miles away and am planning on buying it. But I am not understanding some of the terminology in the instructions at http://androidarea51.com/***-all-th...ck-root-recovery-superuser/msg10550/#msg10550. And it is not clear to me if following those instructions -- once I understand them -- will work on the Straighttalk LG-l35c , since the "one-click" root is designed for the "g" version of this phone. However, I suspect there is no difference in the basic software and hardware between the two models other than that which has something to do with GSM vs. CDMA and which should not in any way be affected by rooting the device. (Art least, seems that way in my limited understanding of all of this.)
Can anyone confirm that:
-1- App2SD does not let you move apps off system memory?
-2- That the "one-click" solution I provided the URL for earlier works without complication on the CDMA version of this phone?
Thank you very much.

Apps2sd works non-rooted but some apps still can't be moved /the root method for the logic works for dynamic as well i am using rooted dynamic now

Thank you, Momerat99, for clarifying re: Apps2SD and for confirming that the One-Click root works for the Dynamic as well.
Have never personally rooted a device and so am a bit wary of trying. But am recalling that in my early computer days (early-mid '80s), before Mac and long before Windows, we worked at root level almost all the time. So I shouldn't be so wary, I think.
My current tablet was delivered to me rooted and with Uberoid installed. I've enjoyed the benefits of the "rooting": but did not gain the understanding or experience of doing the actual rooting.
Live off the grid and the only phone service available to me is cell via Verizon working off the old Alltel tower. Have been waiting and waiting for Straight Talk (and related America Movil companies) to offer a smart phone that would work on Verizon. So glad that such an affordable one is now available. (Likewise, only real internet available to me is via a wireless co-op with speeds limited to about 1 MB/s up and down.)
Am tempted to tether to the Dynamic and see what speeds I can get. But don't want to risk getting booted off Straight Talk for doing so since then I would be without phone at home (from which I also work). No landline here. Phone company wanted $35,000 to run landline cable to me in '02 and I opted not to pay that. Back then, Alltel was in business and delivered strong, reliable 5-bar cell here..
I actually may not get great speeds via the phone at home. Will have to find out. Before the wireless co-op, I was using a Verizon "aircard" for internet. It delivered speeds faster than typical dial-up but not fast enough to stream a YouTube video or allow a Skype conversation. That was in '03-'04 era. Same card, same laptop, in major cities while on the road, delivered what I considered blazing fast speeds back then. Think I clocked it at 800 kbps then in New Orleans and Phoenix and in several other cities. It MAY be that the Verizon data signal still will be poor here on my land. Will have to find out. My property is 12 miles from the tower, but I have clear line of sight. I notice no difference in speed here and in town using Verizon's funky, very slow "mobile web" on Straight Talk on my current non-Android phone.
Looking forward to finding out and to making a Dynamic work like it should. Will probably be back with more questions as I begin fiddling with it. Going to pick it up next trip to Albuquerque -- sometime in the next week.
Grateful for the help.

im sorry for the mix up but the only way i have sucessfully rooted the lg optimus dynamic and lg optimus logic was following this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1963232 i have not personally tried the one click method on this device but the tutorial in the link is pretty straight forward and worked like a charm as far as tethering goes i am also in a situation that i have to rely on my phone for primary internet source i have not been kicked off the network but they have throttled my speed quite a bit but after me downloading large files like crazy so i kinda get it im going to refill the card in a few days and well see if my speed is also renewed as far as tethering apps go i have been using pdanet / foxfi [wifi dosent work but bluetooth dose] / easytether [you have to pay to get full feature ] /and after root android wifi tether works i use this everyday getting on xbox live downloading and surfing and i feel like for once i am getting what i pay for from a phone company although like i said if you get too crazy they will throttle you i was watching crackle on xbl with no buffering when i first got the phone but once i was throttled i have found streaming anything is nearly impossible so im just hoping that they reset my speed when i renew and im gonna not get so crazy on the downloading this time and see how it goes once again sorry for the mix up and i hope some of this info helps
Source Code Released
Thought I would give folks the heads up that source code for our device has been released.
Go to http://www.lg.com/global/support/opensource/opensource-detail.jsp and search for "Mobile Phones" and "LGL38C".
Now all we need is a developer to take an interest in this phone. Meanwhile, I am going to see what I can do on the kernel front (most glaring need of this phone, IMHO).

Another root method
For those of you who like to carry your root solution on your phone with you, giantpune has adapted his "Poot" rooting solution from the LG Optimus Elite to the Huawei Ascend 866c Straight Talk phone, and this poot-debug.apk works on our LG38C (Optimus Dynamic) as well (even though the screen is wonky due to the resolution issues with our 240x320 screen).
For the .apk, please go to http://androidforums.com/ascend-y-a...root-huawei-ascend-y-h866c-3.html#post5418113 (and donate to giantpune at his link, if his solution helped you).
For directions on how to use giantpune's Poot method, there are lots of guides out there on how to use Poot, but I summarize briefly below (and I mean BRIEFLY):
1. Install poot-debug.apk (make sure Settings -> Applications -> Unknown Sources is checked on; also, may want to make sure that you have Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB Debugging checked on too)
2. Install Ministro II (from Google Play market; there are links out there for those who don't have market access).
3. Open Poot on your phone. The GUI will look wonky because of our phone's weird, small screen resolution. Allow Poot to download its required libraries.
4. When Poot has downloaded its libraries, click on the button (only left half of button will show due to screen resolution) that says "Poot"
5. Close out of program. Reboot phone.
If you want to check on root, you can use Poot's built-in rootchecker, or you can download rootchecker from Play Market.
First thing you will want to do after rooting phone is download Superuser (from Google Play Market), and update the su binary (under the "Info" menu). Once that is done, you are updated and good to go.
If you want to use SuperSU instead of Superuser as your su managing GUI, then do all steps above, THEN download SuperSU (from Google Play Market), then run SuperSU and allow SuperSU to update the su binary when it asks, then close out of SuperSU and uninstall Superuser (to avoid any conflict between su managing GUIs).
If the above helped, then please do NOT thank me, but please consider thanking and/or donating to giantpune at the link above; without his hard work, this solution would not have been possible.
Oh, and though I haven't tried it, I am pretty sure that the above method would also work on the LG Logic (L35) Straight Talk phone. If anyone can use and report, that would be great.
EDIT: Tried it on a friend's LG Logic, and it works on that phone too. Yay!

[Q] Tethering for the XT1032

Oy, lads I have a USA XT1032 I bought from Cricket a little over 2 years ago. Just cut off my home WiFi and decided to use my phone as a Hotspot (since its cheaper) but to my surprise there was no Tethering option available in the Wireless settings. So according to what I've read Tethering should be available by default on the XT1032 since its based on the Global version but it seems Cricket modified the OS to disable it. Any way to enable it? Perhaps there's a hidden way to enable it? So far it seems I need to root it and install a 3rd party app to get tethering working but from what I've seen the process seems tedious particularly because I don't have access to a computer. I tried using KingRoot but it failed multiple times so I assume its not possible to root it via the phone itself. What about non-root options? Does anyone know of any viable solutions that do not require root?
Thanks
Sorry if I may have missed some obvious issues the phone has, I've been out of XDA for years now and didn't keep up with development.
I think root is mandatory for this option to reenable it.
Anyway there are some open security issues with latest XT1032 official android version, so it is time to switch to an aftermarket OS anyway.
Just my 5 cents ...
Oh sad! So it can only be rooted using a computer? I've got a laptop I bought coming in today but it has no OS installed so that wouldn't help my cause at all.
Jfc, so I can't unlock my bootloader because the phone is from cricket which means I can't root it. Holy **** dudes, so U can't do **** on this phone what a mess. So I am currently stuck using ClockworkMod's Tether app but it can only use USB and its really really unstable, the connection will drop at times and I'll need to buy it after 6 days if U want to keep using it. What a sham. Does anyone have any workarounds or an alternative?
Sorry to hear that. I am also out of ideas. Without root there is probably not much you can do with this device.
