I have found that if you hold the volume up and down buttons on the phone and press the power button at carrier boot the device stops vibrating.Give it a try I know its not a permanent fix but thought it might help some of you
Does not work for me.

i did this before and some times end up in safemode, just let it vibrate it wont hurt anyhting and i know cause i do that root method for videos and most of the time i work on my phone, do new things, test etc.
I rooted the phone and it was all good.
It started to vibrate after i installed all my apps and set everything up.
Reboot>Vibrate.
WTF ?

The vibrate is only on this device once you root it sucks after you get past the static boot just hold the power button & it'll go away

Am sorry i dont understand what you talking about.
Cant you use some punctuation ? I am seriously confused.
Phone is rooted.
No static (flashed VS995_reStock_v1.2.zip in TWRP, thats what fixes it) and it vibrated thru the rooting process and stopped once rooted.
i went thru setup wizard and installed all apps etc. Restarted the phone and it started to vibrate again.
Not to mention, the big warning sign (corrupted or something) was apearing on the screen at boot, cycling thru LG logo and back until it finally booted. It vibrated all the way and never stopped.
I flashed stock firmware 13A back on it and vibration went away, but so is the root.

my girls volume wont turn on at all? anyone ever hear about this problem? it isn't rooted....
not sure if it will help, but try this: from the home screen, press the menu button, then choose settings>sound>volume, and check the settings for the various volumes, i.e incoming call, media, system, etc. when my phone was stock like hers, sometimes one or more of those volumes got pushed down to 0 for some reason... it was annoying, and it seemed to happen especially to my notifications volume every time i rebooted the phone! hope that helps
I'm having the exact same issue
Hey everyone. So I bought a sidekick 4g on craigslist the other day. I checked it out and thought everything was okay, but I was wrong. So far no response from the jerk who sold it to me without telling me about this problem.
The phones volume up key doesn't work 90% of the time. If I reboot the phone or leave it off for a while, the volume up key will work for a few minutes and then stop again. The funny thing is the volume up key works when I want to reboot (holding vol.up + vol.down and power button at the same time).
So is there any fix for this? Will rooting it and loading a rom fix it? Also I am new to all of this, is it even possible to root and load generginger 2.0 with a broke volume up button? The phones firmware is all up to date.
Thanks for any info and help everyone.
i'd suggest using this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1275116
root the phone, and then go back to stock with the heimdall and see if that fixes the problem. and if it does then you should try rooting it again and install one of the Custom ROMs because the stock OS on this phone is garbage out of the box.
but i'm no expert either, it just seems strange that only when its been on for a bit that it stops working. that it works when you boot it seems to suggest that its a software issue? somebody help me out here guys lol
Hi,
long story short: while trying to install CM on my old one s I first flashed the boot.img as described here: h t t p : / / wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_ville. It appears that the firmware overwrote the custom recovery on a reboot, and when I entered recovery to install CM I got a screen saying "entering recovery..." in pink at the top, htc logo in the middle, and "This build is only intended for development, to not leak from HTC" (something like that) in red at the bottom. Nothing happened.
I shut it down and started it back up, and it went to boot with the same htc logo and red message at the bottom -- and froze there. Only 10+ sec power button restarts it, nothing else helps. Weird enough I noticed that if it's on a cable it won't restart but just stay off, and if it's not connected it will restart immediately, no chance to switch it off.
Here's my biggest problem: my volume rocker is brocken. Up works somewhat, but down is 95% dead. I entered the bootloader through adb before, but since I can't boot the phone anymore I can't get in anymore.
It seems to me like the best solution would be to somehow fix the volume rocker. It's not 100% dead, occasionally I could get a keypress through, so I would just suppose the contacts are a little bad and I could just polish it a little? But the phone seems a pain to take apart.
What would you suggest? Is it too easy to break the whole thing while trying to clean the contacts of the rocker?
Thanks for any help / comments!

Taking it apart is smth you can do. Ik its hard, i tried but if you're confident its your power button then do it. After you reveal the back of our phone, you can access the buttons

While that is my last resort, I'd like to avoid it. I do have a working Nexus 5 after all.

It's the volume rocker, not the power button; and it's been broken for a long time. I'm a little afraid I might rip things apart, but this makes it look outright easy: youtube.com/watch?v=6j25jajIq3g. I'll give it a try.
Hey,
had a weird issue with my OPO for the second time today. The volume-lower button just starts lowering the volume, without me pressing it. If I turn the volume up it goes down again instantly. Tried a reboot, but of course landed in recovery... What could be doing this? Also, Im rooted, with PA installed. I managed to boot into the OS once, but the issue was still there, so I rebooted into recovery again, wiping the caches this time. Now I cant exit the recovery anymore, it keeps booting in there... I really dont know what to do. If this is a hardware issue my warranty would still cover it, but the Oneplus support is terrible from what ive heard. I cant use the phone in this state and i most certainly cant wait weeks for a replacement.
Any help is appreciated!
Hello everyone! So I've had my phone (HTC One M8) rooted and custom recovery and rom installed for a little while now. The latest rom I've installed was Android Revolution HD 22.1. I also have twrp 2.8.1.0 installed. The other day my phone got wet and started to constantly reboot itself, wouldn't shut off and stay off, would never actually start. I put it in a cup of rice for 2 days, then proceeded to plug it in to charge it. Once charged enough I tried to turn it on. It only made it the HTC One logo screen and would vibrate every 10 seconds or so. I tried rebooting several times and no matter what I did with different button combinations I could not get it to load into bootloader. Eventually with restarting different ways and "mechanically stressing" the phone (short temper lol) I managed to get it to loading into the rom itself. From there I opened hasoons all in one toolkit to reboot directly into recovery and recovered to the stock rom. So the phone will now reboot with no problem into this rom. I haven't tried reflashing the ARHD 22.1 rom again because im afraid it'll break again. However, while in the stock rom everything work fines except for the volume up button which does nothing, except for while the screen is off, if I turn my phone to landscape the camera app will open without me even pressing the volume up button. If I reboot into bootloader via the quickboot app or hasoons toolkit, my volume down button with make the cursor go up, the volume up button does nothing, and the power button does nothing. The only thing I can do in bootloader is to hold power+volume up to get the phone to reboot. I also cannot get bootloader to load by holding volume down+power. So, After all that explaining, my main question would be, do you think that the buttons are shorting in a weird way because of water damage, or do you think my software got corrupted because of all the rebooting it did? Any help is appreciated, thanks!
-Tim
Hi,
You could try a clean flash of the rom.... If you're sure the wonky buttons won't interfere with the flash, because if they do... You'll be left with no OS on the device.
Water can affect many things, especially with power on while it was wet. This will be hard to solve, and could get costly. Usually with water damage, you fix or replace one thing, only to find now that something else doesn't work. Can turn into a real money pit.
You're issue isn't so bad, but my usual advice for worse cases are save your money for a new device, because you may never get your device fully working and spend a lot of money trying to fix it.
Ah, I just saw you already asked for help in your device section. Good. ?
Then this thread can be closed, as we're here to help navigate the site, not support.
Thank you.
Dear Learned ones,
I recently purchased a second hand Samsung S7 Edge phone, only to find out that it has a software KingRoot installed in it. I went into kingroot and then pressed some options to unroot it and then deleted kingroot app thinking it would have done the job but apparently not.
Now I have been trying to follow some youtube videos how to factory restore the phone but am stuck. The phone isn't simply going into download mode at all. I tried pressing vol down + power + main button but it simply does not work.
I would greatly appreciate if you can please help me with how do I go about restoring it to the factory mode.
Peace

Hi mate
Sometimes is tricky to get into download mode , when system is not 100% ok timing becomes an issue, keep trying it should work
Once there just flash a fresh firmware
Sometimes holding Volume Down & Home & Power until the phone reboots twice will work if doing it only once fails
Thank you, both for your replies and assistance. I have tried holding all three buttons down for good minute but nothing happens. It feels like that the screen lights up a little and then goes off again. I have been trying it over and over again few times but nothing happens
When I do it few times, it then comes back saying Android is starting... Optimising app XX of 102 and then starts normal again.
Is there a way i can insert two pictures here for you to see the main screen?
