MTK Development Team - Need Devs! - Blu Pure XL

MTK Development TeamDear Devs and Users from Pure XL community
For a year I was trying to get Android 6.0 working on our devices but without luck. There were always problems with booting.
Now I want to work in a bigger team so I've started a new GitHub organisation called MTK Development Team.
About the project
Why?
The goal is to make a working (booting!) Android 7.1 custom ROM. With the power of the team it will be much easier than working on my own.
Custom ROMs
You know the best custom ROM to start a big adventure with was CyanogenMod. Since it will not be supported (read more here) we will be focusing on Lineage OS.

Supported devices
As you may know BLU Pure XL is just rebranded Gionee Elife E8 which is also the same phone as Allview X2 Soul Xtreme - there is no difference in making custom ROMs for them. Personally, I have the X2 Xtreme, that is why there are repos mostly for this phone. There is android_device_mediatek_mt6795-common repo which is the base for mentioned phones.
Keep in mind that these repos are still in the development and may be incomplete but I will update them as soon as possible.
Being part of the team
Just before application
It would be very helpful if you had Allview X2 Soul Xtreme/BLU Pure XL/Gionee Elife E8 on your own or had an access to it. Then you could test every changes you have made to the repos on your own device.
Application
If you wold like to be a part of the MTK Development Team, please fill this form:

I would like to invite every developer or savvy user who would like to help me making this real.

That's pretty much it. Thank you for your attention and I hope some of you would like to take a part in this project. This thread will be updated.
Thanks!

I would like to send special invitation to:
@Moyster
@zrgravity
@root-expert
@acheron1502

Well thanks for the invitation Bem. I actually don't own any of these phones so I don't know if i can help that much.
I can contribute to the project if you want though.

I know it will be hard af but I want to try. I bought this phone because of decent specs so I can't loose my chance.

Well that's not going to be a big problem we will probably be missing a lot of symbols but we can always shim our libs and get past those errors.

Bringing that tree forward, and applying lineage 13 or lineage 14 patches, should be able to compile a workable rom.

Oh, ok, I tried to take the high road in this, but if you want to be an asshole:
Heavy pressure on a guy to send a $350 phone to you so you can "have a go at it." Forgive me if that sounds extremely suspicious. THAT was what I thought better of and wrote "ignore" for. So go **** yourself.

[ROM][4.4.4][Unofficial] CarbonROM Source Build

Hey fellow Atrix 2 users, here's my first ROM built from source: Carbon. I realize that there is s port already form the hard working A2EPT (and much faster than myself!). I built this a few weeks ago and thought I'd share it anyway (with their consent). It runs prettys smooth and has been trouble free for myself, hopefully it's the same for you!
About
CarbonRom is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project.
We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.
Please feel free to look at, build, and use our code on CarbonDev GitHub.
We would like to thank CyanogenMod for their device trees, framework/settings mods and their code that was incorporated into this project. We also extend our gratitude to the devs whose code that we have incorporated. Proper authorship has been maintained and can be viewed on our repository.
Special thanks also go to Slim Rom for some of their features, AOKP, and anyone else we may have borrowed commits from that hasn’t been mentioned here. If you feel you have been unfairly left out, please – let us know.
While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! If you have questions, ask your fellow users or ask us in #teamcarbon on freenode IRC.

It is using CM's kernel but I read that altered was making more changes to it over the last couple of days so I might be missing some of them. My machine is syncing some sources for another ROM at the moment, I'll rebuild it this afternoon and post it.

I ran it with jbx for a bit and it worked fine. I think it's on par with the other roms for battery life. It's hard for me to tell though as my battery is terrible. I ordered a new one last week.

You wouldn't see it in other ROM's because it's specific to Carbon. I believe it's related to their OTA updates. I just disabled it on my phone and everything is fine. Maybe I can look into disabling it out of the box.
I used Link2sd to freeze it and everything works ok. I'll keep it frozen for a few days just to make sure.

Custom ROM and Kernel

A9 owners speak up!! This is for all A9 owners and would be A9 owners who would love to see development of AOSP and CM based ROMS. GPE port from the M8 and any other ROMS. As well custom Kernels like ElementalX. Thanks to @jcase we have S-off, modified boot image for disabling forced encryption and allowing root and @Chainfire we have SuperSu and @Captain_Throwback and @Dees_Troy we have TWRP. A million thanks to all involved in the development so far. I would just love to get a feel for how many users out there are waiting for and would help support the development of custom ROMS and kernels! Let the wishful thinking be heard :good:
Also love to hear from developers! Progress, status updates etc etc
UPDATE: First ROM is now here! Thanks to @Captain_Throwback Located here!!! http://forum.xda-developers.com/one...9-base-roms-recovery-flashable-t3282335/page4
I wil definitly would love some customs kernel
I am waiting for this from Beginning. Can not wait anymore. .

Well, one thing I don't like is that it now requires your pattern or pin to unlock the device after a reboot where as before after a reboot it would unlock with the just the finger print reader It can now read the new 6.0.1 emoji-cons but still cant send them. They just don't show up in the keyboard. I want to pop my verizon SIM into it and see if anything changed there. Still testing otherwise. Haven't noticed that much else.

Soo, no changes on verizon.. Still shows LTE logo with no bars and LTE data works but to voice or text. With AT&T however, VoLTE seems to now be working on all calls, not just other users on AT&T on iPhone 6's and 6s's which is very exciting!! LTE works during all phone calls.. See screen shots.
What about a bounty for a custom rom ?
Why do you think we are here on XDA?!?! Of course we want custom Roms and Kernels!!!!

I thought I was the OP of the A9 TWRP thread, not @Dees_Troy?
(or course without him, we wouldn't have TWRP at all)
I'm surprised there aren't at least any stock rooted ROMs floating around the Development forum. I did post one earlier today in someone else's thread, but I'm not sure how much exposure that's going to get. As far as AOSP ROMs go, the good thing is that there is a bit less Sense on the A9 than on previous devices (more like a GPE device), so hopefully that'll make porting CM to it less cumbersome.

Yes, I definitely appreciate the more stock google look and feel of the A9 but its no substitute for a pure GPE or CM ROM!

TL;DR ?? Here is the interesting part
We are also announcing that with the help of Sony and their Open Devices Project we will be able to support all 22 Xperia devices on the SonyXperiaDev GitHub Instance. This initial Sony release is for the Shinano family, but the Rhine, Yukon and Kitakami platforms are expected to follow shortly. This is really exciting news for us and it allows us to give you the Android experience we all love on a much wider range of devices.

i admit, this is a little off the subject but...any idea of how to build a caf rom? or any idea of how to make sense of the caf tree names? I tried to compile some 'frankenstein' roms, combinations of caf+aosp but without success...i mentioned aosparadox, there is some guy, TheQuiche that supposedly 'maintains' the device tree for eagle for aosparadox but he only appears once in every 2-3 months. Have you seen/tried to build? I have tried but failed miserably every time Is there any point in trying anything with caf? I've read that it is the purest source/kernel for qcom devices
and this for example: https://github.com/AOSP-CAF? any idea if it is worth trying? (i already tried but failed )

Hi there!
We (the AOSParadox team) were indeed working on bringing CAF to eagle. A friend of mine owned the device and i found the stock ROM really bad and the available ROM options at the time (i don't know how it is today.) were lacking aswell so for a while we were working on it but then my friend dropped his device and it broke, thus we didn't work on it anymore.

Since the moment you decide to read and install stuff from this post your phone warranty is lost. Im not responsible of any damages or whatever happens to your device. All this said enjoy and remember post any bugs you find.
As i have seen PixelExperience here aosp based i wanted to share another AOSP base rom , this time ( more coming for sure....) GZOSP. As far as i have tested ( i do not have much time to test cuz of studies) everything is working. As i know all of you are willing to test it i´ll go to the point.
Download the rom
IMPORTANT - I have used mindthegapps and its working. I havent tested with opengapps so..if you try tell us if its working.
Device tree is from PsyMan ( Thanks a lot for your work ) , kernel is from PsyMan too , Vendor Too .
It works with opengapps too.
Since all is from psyman and pixel experience, what makes this rom different?
Im asking in a curious kinda way, not a condescending one
Does proximity sensor works?

With all due respect, devices, kernel and vendor might be from PsyMan but the whole rom source is different so... Totally different rom. As alike and as different as any other aosp rom out there I guess...

It´s from the same team that has tesla , validus and etc...Mostly AOSP roms use gzosp repos so...it can be said that this rom was meant to be a base for the rest of aosp based rom.

Exactly
Sorry to go off topic but Evangeline: would you care to tell me if you plan to release here your Atomic builds? I have it compiled and working too but would be glad to forget about them if a real dev goes for it

Yeah , i have planned to do it . Rhong told me to release it here too so i´ll do it. I´m going right now to build a new one with some fixes i did (remove some lag and better battery use) so if you wish to wait ill finish building it asap.

Uh no problem Wasn't planning on releasing just yet anyway as I'm working on Xenon and updating Cardinal too and having some build problems there. So if we have your Atomic soon that'd be great. I will try and compile some new one

Not easy to implement on an AOSP rom... Needs qcom/audio-caf project from lineage and several things can be broken. Also needs a provisional not merged modification in kernel, otherwise you get soft reboots from doze...
I am not implementing in Cardinal yet either
Anything new coming to the rom? Like custom tweaks etc?

It's been a long time, but I'm gonna see if i can get back into the XDA/Devices game. We got some work to do still to get us a killer tree, but we're off to a good start. This build is rock solid stable and has been my DD for months. We still gotta bring in some stuff like EAS but we'll get to that. Any feature requests, compliments, complaints, or general trolling, feel free to post up.
Thanks!
Please can we have some screenshots and a small list of features that is included? ...

Thank you for the kind words. Honestly, the OP3 is a pretty mature device at this point. I've still got some work to do on the device tree, EAS for example, but it's stable. For the most part, I'll be doing platform development writing fresh original features. At the same time, i haven't been too active on XDA but I thought I'd get my feet wet again by opening a device thread.
Nice. Looking forward to the developments

Just because a OEM think the device is to old doesn't mean it dying. Just look at the Samsung Galaxy S2. This device is still getting love by the Community with recent TWRP and 8.1 ROMs.
Anyways: It's always nice to see a new ROM here - Time to flash
Thanks for this ROM!
Has anyone been able to apply a substratum theme to Android System, Settings, and System UI?

Ive had no issues applying any themes (pitchblack, bigblu,Valerie etc. All apply fine after reboot ofc
Rush, what have you done to the ROM that makes phone calls sound louder? I've used your ROM since the last update, but now I'm on pixel experience. I can tell that there is a difference in the sound quality from Invictrix rom to other ROMs
