Plugged in my phone today, Kies states that there is an update available. I go through the update, no issues, it then states there is a firmware update available as well. Phone starts to do that update, but then stops, and has issues. Phone is stuck in download mode (yellow android guy in caution sign) I stupidly unplugged my phone, and it went into the phne!computer mode.
Looked all over in the forums, and it all says that I have to open Odin3 on my PC. I searched my computer, and can't find it anywhere, but I am rooted, using a procedure found on the forums here.
I have removed battery, and entered back into the download mode, but now have no idea what to do.....!!!! Help!!
You have to download Odin3 and get your phone to the stock firmware.
Head over to Galaxy S forums. Which Galaxy S model do you have?
Model number is SGH I897. I'll go there and try to get it.
Hey friends,
I have am H950. It was previously rooted, but I unrooted it using SuperSu.
Whenever I go into Download Mode, the phone says, "Updating Firmware -- DO NOT disconnect USB cable." It then stays at 0% and doesn't do anything.
I need to get into Download Mode to flash the phone back to stock but this Firmware update is preventing me from doing it. I used LG Mobile Support to try and manually update the firmware, but it says that it's already up to date.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Try using lg up to flash you don't need to put it in download mode........
Are you sure your device is unrooted? As far as I know SuperSU is not the tool to unroot for our devices...
It is download mode, just start lg mobile support tool..
Previously, I've talked about how I bricked my G920T by using an apk to try to root my phone.
Then I tried to do a factory reset with the stock recovery but it wouldn't even go into the stock recovery. So I flashed TWRP and wiped the whole phone including the system partition.
Then I tried to flash a stock 6.0.1 firmware to the phone but doing so did not improve the situation as my phone still won't boot. Even worse, when I power my phone, all I see is the blue LED indicator, no Samsung logo, nothing.
Then I tried to flash a custom ROM like XtreStoLite but that didn't fix anything either.
When I use TWRP or the stock recovery, the error "failed to mount /efs (invalid argument)" comes up on the log. I tried using the ADB method to fix it but my phone would not get recognized by ADB probably because USB debugging isn't on by default.
I cannot shut down the phone without having it charged to a power source then holding down PWR+DOWN VOLUME+HOME until the screen shuts off.
When I enter download mode, I don't see the warning screen, I enter the download mode directly.
It will warm you when you enter download. Or use TWRP and reboot into Download.Once in download flash the ROM using Odin. Get the latest one from SamFirm.
P.S. Next time root using CF Auto Root

It doesn't warn me when I enter download mode, that's one of the problems.
I tried flashing the official ROM using ODIN, it still won't boot because of the efs error.
1) Download the latest SmartSwitch
2) Click on more -> Emergency software recovery and initialization
3) Go into Device initialization, enter your model name, search for it and proceed as advised by the assistant
That should fix everything, otherwise:
1) Download the latest official firmware for your model, the 4-File (or 3-File) Version
2) Use latest ODIN, check repartition in options
3) Select all the files and flash it
If EFS or DRK is corrupted, flashing roms, custom or not won`t help, it can be fixed via repair box maybe (Octoplus/Z3X)
Try to flash CF auto root for your model, if it still won`t boot, then find someone with a box to try to help you remotely or not.
But Smart Switch emergency initialization with phone sn would be the first thing I would try.

Which mode should I be in when using SmartSwitch? No devices are shown when I have it plugged in during the bootup, and is so too in download mode but shows a not supported message.

Well if you know someone who have a box, it doesn`t have to be remotely.
If not, it is possible to fix it remotely, with help of usb hub (FlexiHub or similar), tunneling (TeamViewer or similar) and box software (you connect phone to your computer, the other guy connects box to his computer, both of you are connected through a gateway to a wonderfull thing called internet, and everybody is happy ) .
Same as on site, just with few more things in between the phone, and the box.

The S/N sticker on the back of the phone is long gone, is there any other way I can find it besides from going into settings because I can't do that?
EDIT: I am able to borrow a friend's serial and got the firmware installed.
The Samsung boot logo is back now, however, the device still won't boot. The efs error is still there but the download mode warning sign came back.
EDIT #2: Okay, I flashed TWRP now and ADB is working once again. Can I utilize this to fix the efs error?
I tried to flash another country firmware, but I failed, and my phone got soft-bricked and it is stuck in bootloop. When i switch on my phone, it keeps coming to the "use PC smart switch for emergency recovery installation", and i tried using PC Smart switch but when i typed the model and serial number it shows some unable to... message. Can someone help me to fix this, and am i able to change the whole phone to international standard, as it is running in South Korea Region?

Hi. I had rooted Galaxy S7 (SM-G930F) then I switch off all of Programming Options (including Enable OEM unlock and Debugging USB) and restarted phone. I got "custom binary blocked by frp lock" red message and I couldn't run system. Then I wanted to install clear firmware, I downloaded one and tried to install by Odin. After 5 hours with 95% bar status I restarted my phone. Now I get "An error has occurred while updating the device software. Use the Emergency recovery function in the Smart Switch PC software". Is this end of my phone? Please help.. (sorry for my english)

Hi
No there is hope still...
How did you root your phone?
Explain what happen with odin , what files did you use and how you flashed.
Options
1 Smart switch you could use it and try to restore firmware
2 Download a different firmware and try to flash with odin again
3 Flash TWRP , root again , flash a custom rom , set OEm unlock , usb debbuging and now try to flash a stock rom again
For root I downloaded Odin and "CF-Auto-Root-herolte-heroltexx-smg930f.tar.md5". Then I switched phone to Download Mode and load AP in Odin, Then clicked start.
After that phone works great, I had root permissions. But then I switched off "Enable OEM unlock" and "Debugging USB" and restarted phone. Then when I tried to start system I could see "custom binary blocked by frp lock" message. I downloaded "AP_G930FXXU1DQB3_CL10422490_QB12410562_REV00_user_low_ship_meta.tar.md5", switched phone to Download Mode and loaded AP in Odin. The progress stopped at 90-99% for few hours, so I switch phone off and unplugged cable. After that I got "An error has occurred while updating the device software. Use the Emergency recovery function in the Smart Switch PC software". Now I can do nothing. Only switch to Download Mode. I used Smart Switch but after putting Model Name and Serial Number and downloading files, I always get error.
/// I use Odin and CSC option (and load "HOME_CSC_OXX_G930FOXX1DQA1_CL10357061_QB12200735_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5"). Now I'm in Recovery Menu and can see recovery menu and "E:failed to mount /system (Invalid argument )".

Hi
Go to Sammobile and select the firmware according your country ( not necessary , any one will do)
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-s7/SM-G930F/
Use AP , BL CP and CSC ( not home_csc)
when using CSC follow this instructions (step 6)
https://www.sammobile.com/forum/showthread.php?t=30800
this will format all partitions
also as a guide check this thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/how-to/official-stock-firmware-update-odin-t3369431
If any error copy Odins log and show us
If this does not work try what i said , TWRP-root-custom rom then back to stock
Ok, I will follow that, but I have to wait becouse downloading from sammobile.com is slow. Please tell me how to turn off phone. I can't do that. When I choose Power off in Android Recovery, the phone restarts. I also tried to click power button for ten seconds, but without reaction.
Under options like "reboot system now", ....., "run graphics test", "power off", I can see:
"No support SINGLE-SKU
Supported API: 3
dm-verity error...
E:failed to mount /system (Invalid argument)"
/// Ok, I should unplug usb cable. Now I can turn off device.
The problem has been solved! I followed your advices (first way) and my phone isn't brick now. Thank you very much!
