Hi Folks. For those of you who are coming from a Note Edge or 4, 5, etc and feel somewhat eviscerated because you no longer have that mighty stylus readily available, have you tried some writing and drawing apps as a substitute to satisfy your need to write on screen shot, take notes, and so forth with that magical human touch provided with the stylus? If so please comment on your experience and perhaps the type of stylus you are using. Also is there a handy way or case that allows you to keep the stylus near by when you need it? Thanks!
Just ditched my beloved note 7: the mate 9 is a good device but compared to the flexibility of the note 7 stylus suite, the mate 9 is like wearing a straight jacket...if only the software resembled note that of the note 7.........wishful thinking......

Hi. Looks like a nice informative article. Since it is not very long perhaps you can make an English version. Then again there is always Google translate! Thanks!
EDIT: BTW, I purchased INKredible pro. It's very good for notes. Looking into Salute Stylus. Thanks for the tip (no pun intended!) I also have used Image Editor in the past which has some nice features and fairly good options for pen.
Is there an app that allows you to make an oval shape (or some random shape) crop of a photo or screen shot using, say, an active stylus? For example on my Note Edge I could make an oval shape crop of a picture and save it to paste on another image.
Thanks!

Thanks! Coming from a Note Edge I never thought of trying the knuckle touch. It actually works! I then tried a hard tap with a stylus and that also did the job. It can be a little more precise in selecting the area you want to crop. Although, I have to admit I find it a rather odd or a little clumsy way to do things using my knuckle. You have to tap the screen pretty hard for it to work. But it is ok for a first cut or crop. I'd prefer just having an app with menu that has the option to crop image. Been checking out a few apps to do this. There is one called Background Eraser which allows you to crop with some precision. But ads are annoying. Perhaps there is a "pro version" without ads. Any other suggestions out there?

Thanks for the suggestion. The app Picart is a very good app for cropping and has quite a few features. So I think I'm in pretty good shape in regards to editing images with stylus. Now is there a case that allows you to easily attach a stylus?

I have the exact same problem and I'm using 3G version.
I was thinking to take my note 10.1 to warranty replacement.

With your finger rhat is supposed to happen. Normal capacitive touchscreens aren't as accurate. The S-Pen is using different tech and is not communocating with your normal touchscreen. The pen should be pixel accurate.

That. Doesn't. Help. How hard is it.
I actually went back to the store and the show model and a new model which he got fresh out of the box for me all had the same issue. The Note 10.1 is a poorly made tablet. The pen should be pixel accurate, which it isn't. I actually got an ipad mini instead as Apple offers the best normal capacitive touchscreens on the market.
Hello my friends and welcome to samsung.
Here is how "well" the disgitisers of my note 10.1 N8000, grey, italian with 16GB + 3G, work.
FINGERTOUCH DIGITISER:
S-PEN DIGITISER:
I noticed the issue of the s-pen digitiser first, and just like you, went back to the store to check if the other notes they had there had the same issue. Result: all had the same issue. All in the same screen position. Knowing that the s-pen digitiser is very sensitive to electromagnetic field, and after watching this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUyI74c0DhE&feature=youtube_gdata_player I came to the conclusion that the issue is due to poor screening of the s-pen digitiser. In fact I bet that what we see is the field distortion caused by the electrical current flowing along the vertical battery wires running underneath the screen in that position. That's why the issue appears identical, at identical position on all the notes, because it is an hardware issue due to how badly this tablet was engineered.
The other issue, the one of the fingertouch digitiser, I have discovered it today, after having noticed that scrolling in my tablet was not uniform if i was sliding my finger slowly on the screen, and after having asked myself why so often I was missing to hit the virtual keys on the websites, even though I could swear to have tapped precisely in that position. Well... it appears that our nice friends at samsung equipped our beloved tablet with a digitiser with a ridicoluos resolution of around 40 x 25... (!!!!!!!) This means that we can forget forever precision touch input and smooth scrolling.
I was quite happy of this tablet when i bought it. Now I feel so pissed off that I would like to throw this piece of **** out of the window.
Another thing I noticed is that the Galaxy tab 2 10.1 of my friend does not have the fingertouch digitiser issue. Looks like in order to earn even more money than usual, samsung have introduced this feature into us starting from the latest, very acclaimed note 10.1....
wow....
kind regards, Luca.

now try that but slower and you'll see the squiggles
that's true!!!!! it's like if there's a magnetic interference along a diagonalline in the center of the screen, going from top-left to bottom-right
but only if you draw slowly on that points
Well, yes but not exactly. The inteference is vertical, and as I said, I bet my bullocks it's caused by the battery wires.
The resulting effect is just like when you put a paper sheet over a coin, and you scratch over it with a pen (never done it when you were a child?). As you know, you get the image of the coin underneath.
The "scratches" here are the oblique lines that we draw slowly, and the "coin" is the field distortion caused by the electrical current in one of the wires (of which there are four, but for one reason or another, one must cause more interference than the others).
This being a magnetic induction interference, it affects only the s-pen digitiser.
The issue of the capacitive, fingertouch digitiser (or whatever its name is, sorry but I am not native english), I guess is simply due to the fact that it has a very small resolution, due to samsung deliberately wanting to piss us off

Why would I do that if I want a straight line? Pen on paper it's the same, if you go slow enough you will not go straight...
I'm not arguing with anyone, you may be right regarding the interference, but I don't think this device was made to replace a dedicated pro digitizer.
And I did get the general impression that on other tablets the touch is a little more accurate than this one, just to be clear, I'm not saying that is the perfect tablet because I've got one lol. A used 3 tf700 for a week and the screen resolution and touch responsivnes are great, but otherwise is a P.O.S.
I think this note is a decent enough gadget for the price.

It also might not be the display itself. I got my S-Pen wet and when it dried it started to behave erratically. Sometimes it would work perfectly and other times it would be off from the position I had it placed on the screen. It was random. Replacing the pen fixed it.
Don't have this issue with pen or finger using Lecture Notes on Korean made GT-8013 bought from Amazon.

Purchased direct from Samsung Italia. Made the switch from an iPhone 6s+. Very happy. My only complaint is having to recalibrate the compass after each restart. Still unclear to me if an isolated problem or one shared by many others. In another thread is sounded like some had the problem, others not. And, it may have been an issue with the Galaxy 6. Overall, glad I made the switch.

The problem with compass calibration affects GPS accuracy. I noticed the issue when driving along Lungotevere near Testaccio and Google Maps claimed I was in the middle of the Tiber - about 500 meters away. Once calibrated, all was good.
I like the greater flexibility to modify and adjust the Edge to my preferences. The camera is, IMO, significantly better, especially the fast focusing. I do miss the integration with the Apple ecosystem as I use a MacBook Air and have my music in iTunes. Still looking for a good music player. I have lots to learn although I have owned many Android devices in the past.

Positive. The simple way to recalibrate is to enter the HwModule Test by entering *#0*# on the phone keypad Then, select Sensor and look for Magnetic Sensor. There you will see a circle with a number inside and a red or blue line. If the number is 3 and the line blue, you are calibrated. Anything else indicates your phone needs calibration. It's easy. Rotate the phone slowly around each of its three axis. You should feel a vibration and a green screen flash when each axes calibrates. Whole process takes 10-15 seconds.

Hi guys, i would like to know two things:
1)intelligent standy, which prevent the screen turn off when you look at it, does it work in a dark environment too? Because mine doesn't.
2)when i use an app and i receive an iconized call then the little window stays on my screen and i can't "iconize" it on notify bar (when I'm using speaker phone obviously). I have to open the phone app and then press the home button. Is there a way to avoid that?

Hey All,
Just received my EVR-L29 today.....man this is SEXY!
I was shocked as I was setting it up that Face Unlock came up. I hadn't read or seen any reviews that mentioned it and it seems fairly accurate. Pleasant surprise that I wanted to share...hope there wasn't another thread already!
I also never thought I would use a phone that made my Mi Mix feel small ?
what does the codes mean at the end of the phone? i.e. EVR-L29, CLT-29, HMA-L29, LYA-L29 etc? which one do I need to buy so that it works in the UK?
Cheers
KK
I own the Chinese version of the Mate 20X but I'm agree..
the Huawei facial unlock had amazed me since the update on the old P10, here I use it as favorite unlock, though Google Smart Lock is missing.
It recognizes even in low light and with glasses

Honestly depends on many things. I can adjust to just about anything.
As of now, I'm torn between the OnePlus 6T and the Mate 20 X. Size wise the 6T is so much easier to use, and with GCam development coming along, the pictures the 6T takes is simply amazing. I hate to say it but the Mate 20 X doesn't have great portrait modes. I've been testing both the Mate 20 X and the 6T extensively and while I was drawn to the Mate 20 X for its camera, size, battery life, etc. It looks like the camera is letting me down a bit for certain situations.
I could ramble on, but if you're genuinely only interested in size - you get used to it if your hands are of decent size. I've been told I have slightly above average hands and I can use it very well. While holding it with one hand, I can type and reach the "q" and "p" on the keyboard with a slight stretch.
My only gripe with the size being the actual software.. Huawei has poorly optimised the space available. On a 6.3" screen, I have 6 quick setting icons on the 6T. On a 7.2" screen, the Mate 20 X has 5. The icons look cartoonishly big.
The face unlock is very fast but I think it's less secure. On Galaxy phones they let me choose face unlocking speed and say the fast face unlocking is less secure. I guess it's because face scanning requires much complicated calculation than retina and finger print scannings.
The finger print scanner is so quick! Quicker than Samsung GS8 and GS9.
I too am supprised with face unlock in good light it's fast and works well, at night it might need a second attempt.
Having come from a mate 20pro in would say it's almost as good during the day (for ease of access) at night though the pro was a lot more reliable, probably because of the infrared camera etc in the notch.
Where did u buy the l29 ver.?
Have you had any updates so far?
Did they help?
How is the battery life with the dark mode?

left to right? meaning on landscape, its normal because its the sliding behaviour.
but when it wiggles on both sides when in landscape. then its the sliding mechanisms fault.

Same problem here... Very annoying but don't notice it with the case which is always on. Can't really send it back to China with a custom rom and get a new unit.
Just received mine and same issue. Not sure if I want to return it or not. I'm concerned it could get worse over time.
...its a slider phone...it slides
Haven't noticed that it gets worse yet. Constantly fiddling with the slider. Using a case you don't notice it at all.
Honestly can't believe this is actually a topic, it's a slider phone and for the ability to slide there can't be any friction (basic physics). So of course there will be slight wobble as is the nature of the design.
The Honor Magic 2 seems to slide without any wobble.

Hi,
Right there in France, my Mi Mix 3 wobble out of the box. A gap can be guessed between screen and body when hold through the light, may be half a millimeter.
Many people outlined this on Xiaomi forum, but not everybody knows this, others found it few weeks after use while fixation might loose a little.
Nevertheless, right now I can compare my Mi Mix 2 and my Mi MIX 3. The new screen is so gorgeous compared to the more yellowish and a bit washed Mi Mix 2 screen, and better balanced with its elongated shape. I am already in love.

Such a great device! Didn't take long to get set up how i wanted. Typing on the front screen is a joy compared to the Fold 4, and the inner screen is fantastic. I love, how it just feels like the S21 ultra I had to hold.

Yeah, every other foldable has a better outer screen experience than the Fold series... Hopefully, they fix that with the Fold 5 as dealing with Chinese only Android phones is getting old very fast...
Fingers crossed! I'm also interested to see how the pixel fold looks (if it arrives)

I was also excited about the Pixel Fold but it appears to be more of a Surface Duo form factor with a quite wide outer screen and smaller than ours inner one. On the bright side, once the Pixel Fold is released, someone will surely port its software to every other foldable out there including the Mix Fold 2.

Ah, is that similar to the OPPO Find N2? Except a bit larger.
