hi Guys,
My Friend cracked the Digitizer/LCD of Mi Mix. Even the housing has suffered damage. The phone works and everything is ok. but the screen is cracked a bit on the edge and the housing frame suffered minor damage too.
The problem is I'm not able to locate spare parts anywhere for Mi Mix except one online shop somewhere in Vietnam with the LCD costing about 300$ which I believe is a lot.
Can someone else guide me to some place where I can buy these things cheaply. I may require other spares as well upon disassembling the cell phone.
I don't think that parts are going to be cheap for this phone being that xiaomi made this phone in low quantities making it hard to get parts for it, so my advice to every one is to take care of this fragile phone carefully.
Search for "mi mix replacement screen" on aliexpress, they have the digitizer for 6 or 7 $'s
What about the surrounding frame?
I need the frame only.

I've checked that too, there are parts found that look like screen protectors. But these are including tools that look like tools you need to remove front glass. And well it looks like holes for the ambient light sensor and the led are missing.
Gesendet von meinem Xiaomi Mi MIX
I emailed Xiaomi inquiring about replacement parts.
This was 3 weeks ago.
They completely ignored my email.
This is the last Xiaomi product I purchase.
What's about asking iFixit? Just an idea. And by the way, i've waited for answers from Samsung 4-5 weeks

I have chatted with the following website: cellspare.com. They informed that LCD would be available after 5 days. So you can contact them on your reponsibility about this matter. I posted this as help for all who have Mi Mix and please check up if the website is trusted or not.
vopmart
I found a cheaper supplier of the front screen, glass and lcd for the Xiaomi Mi Mix.
vopmart dot com /pa1014250.htm
I was unable to post the link, but fill in the gaps and you'll get there.
Here, LCD replacement.
https://www.vopmart.com/pa1014250.html
Hi Guys .... did you get your Mi Mix LCD Screen delivered and fixed from vopmart? Thank you
Oof... drop from 22" and.... poof...
Damn, I swapped to a clear see through vinyl case milken... The phone slipped off a 22" coffee table on to a ceramic floor and I cracked the screen, cracked the glass screen cover, and broke the digitizer on the front right hand corner of screen.
DAMN
I tried ordering a replacement screen and digitizer from several sites, and... Here is the kicker... they say they have the part, you pay for the part, and after payment, 2 - 3 days letter you get an email and full refund saying they don't have the part anymore. I tried to buy from vopmart, and only after waiting 10 days, did they reply to my email with a refund and sold out reason. I even ordered on ebay from a seller in Germany, and was refunded without notice after was told the screens were defective.
And probably the more concerning factor, is not actually finding and purchasing a replacement lcd screen, it is REPAIRING it. I looked at a few online Tear downs for the Xiaomi Mi Mix, and I will be honest, it is pretty involved. You literally have to take the phone to pieces to get to the lcd screen. If I am not mistaken, most phones have the LCD screen stuck on to the phone by an adhesive that is heated up to weaken the adhesive, and then peeled off. NOT the Xiaomi mi mix. Who has the knowledge to repair these monsters!?!?!?!?!
Cheers
I ordered a screen from vopmart and with the DHL express got it in less that a week for $165. But touch didn't work when it was installed. Ordered the $225 one from cellspare which took over a month to arrive but did work. vopmart may have just been a fluke, I paid with paypal and have shipped the screen back for a credit...
Now that's disconcerting that there are parts and the parts that there are don't work.

they have the digitizers on ebay now
I ordered a replacement digitizer on ebay about 3 weeks ago. They ship free from Hong Kong and the sellers all say that it takes at least 3 weeks for delivery. More sellers are there now with the digitizers. I cannot find a teardown video anywhere. Also, some repair shops fix the old p1000 but not the tab plus.
You definately want the tools to come with the replacement digitizer. I'll give it a shot blindly if I don't find directions and post how it comes out.... hopefully from this device!
i fixed cracked glass yesterday
The directions for the p1000 screen teardown pretty much worked. I used a hairdryer an an exacto knife to separate the digitize from the lcd. This was tricky. Of course you know to always push the knife away from you lest you cut your wrist.
An eyeglass cleaning towel worked to clear off the lcd. I didn't want to risk any solutions on it.
Prices on digitizers are dropping on ebay. I paid 75 for the kit and it is about $10 cheaper. Shipping does take long!

You just need to make sure you are getting the correct digitizer from a well rated seller. It's an easy ebay search. Also, you need the tool kit. The concept is to slide the tool around the space between the glass and case to release the catches. YouTube has lots of videos on the topic. It was a while ago when I did mine and used the T1000 directions. There may be a video with the 7 plus by now.
Using a hair dryer to heat the glass is critical. It softens the adhesive and makes it less dangerous. An exacto knife, glass and lots of force is asking for a trip to the emergency room. Let the heat do its job and always work the knige AWAY from your body while supporting the assembly on a firm surface.
Taking your time is crucial. The job's not that hard as long as you stay organized and don't force it.
By any chance, has anybody purchased a digitizer that doesn't have the Samsung logo on it? I'm kicking around the idea of replacing the digitizer to give my tablet a cleaner look on the front.

Hi. I cracked the glass on my S4, and cant seem to find any replacement parts on the internet which are original.
Is it at all possible to get an original screen glass, and if not - Where would be the smartest to buy an non-original if considering quality?

My kid cracked his phone as well. Went to this lil kiosk in the mall and they cost like 150 to fix. Better off going thru the asurion to get a new phone.
I'm also interested, there's no way to find any information of the screen quality on the Internet as far as I can see.
I'd like just the glass as the phone works well, don't mind trying to replace it with tutorials available.
A friend of mine actually broke his screen and found a place to buy a replacement. He has the Sprint variant... I doubt they're not compatible... I'll ask him and see what I can find!
I have replaced a glass (on a separate phone) and glass+digitizer both purchased from etradesupply dot com. Their stuff seems to be legit OEM. I recommend them.

Good luck. If you are doing just the glass, just remember to take your time. The adhesive on the OEM glass is quite a pain to remove but it can be done without damaging the digitizer. Slow and steady! :good:
I replaced my severely cracked screen with a $6 replacement off ebay. Slooooow, steady process to remove the original screen being stuck to the digitizer with a clear adhesive. There are several videos on youtube to demonstrate the process. The new one works fine, although it is a little more reflective than the original. The touchscreen works well, but perhaps slightly less sensitive than before. A nice touch of the new screen is that the Back & Menu buttons are now blue, which looks good and is less bright than it used to be, which is an upgrade, to me. I'd say it leaves the phone about 95% as good as as it was before I dropped it. To me, well worth it to save $170 to extend the life of the phone until the S6 or S5 Prime or LG G3 or whatever phone is a big enough upgrade to make me jump. I did have a Note 3 for 9 days and it was epic, noticeably better than the S4 in pretty much every aspect, except that it was simply too big to deal with on a daily basis. But it did give me a nice dose of the level of performance I can look forward to with my next phone.
I also broke my glass few days ago and was thinking with replacing it with the new black edition glass that has no texture, just pure black. Does anyone know where I would be able to get my hands on that glass?
Thanks in advance!

If you don't want to mess with the adhesive buy the screen with the frame included. It's more expensive but much easier to replace and keep the phone in perfect condition.

Search eBay for "galaxy s4 screen frame genuine", at least if they send you a counterfeit item you can open a Paypal dispute for selling fake items.
You can buy the screen with the frame or not. I always buy with the frame.
Here's an example of the screen+digitizer (no frame), 132$
Genuine Samsung Galaxy S4 i9500 i9505 i337 M919 LCD Screen+Digitizer Touch Glass
Screen+digitizer+frame, 217$
Details about Samsung Galaxy S4 i9505 4G LTE Black Screen LCD Glass on Frame *GENUINE SAMSUNG*
The screen & digitizer will fit any S4 variant. But if you're buying one with the FRAME as well, there are 4 to choose from.
i9505 - fits i9505 ONLY
i9500 - fits i9500 ONLY
i545 - fits L720 & R970 also
i337 - fits M919 and i9505G also
I had mine done by a guy on Ebay.
http://www.ebay.com/usr/thumbstar?_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2754
Cost be about 65 bucks shipped. He uses the LOCA glue method (OEM style), not the double sided tape like most of the retail stores do. Sent it off and had it back within a few days. I just sent him my phone w/o battery and cover. Came back perfect in my opinion.
my local sprint store was going to repair my damaged LCD for $75... included new glass

Where exactly in new delhi? And cost?
I got myself a tempered glass for the Mi 4i yesterday at a mobile phone store in Rohini, Delhi for INR 180 ($3). It took 3 days for the store to finally procure the glass. The quality is decent and doesn't hinder the use in any way. I already ordered the free Mi Screen Guard from Xiaomi's India website, but that is yet to arrive as of now.

I had tried Nehru Place a few days ago but no luck. As I told before I had to cut a screen protector of some XOLO phone to fit mine it costed me rs 70
They had tempered glass but not the exact one for Mi 4i they didn't had any rounded edges one so they were trying square cornered ones which was not fitting in properly so I said I would buy tempered when its device specif I dont want it to look ugly.
I'm glad they really did a good job and it was not simple to cut it for Mi4i, some of them were not even ready to talk when I said that I had Mi 4i.
They said you would have to wait at least a month or so to get all the accessories for the phone

I have just replaced my screen+frame after a double drop smashed it completely. I contacted Motorola Support and while my phone too was under warranty, it doesn't cover accidental damage to the screen through being dropped. I was quoted an eye watering £200 to send my phone to the repair facility in Germany to have the screen replaced and couriered back to me in the UK. Negotiations failed!
This all at the same time the Moto X 2014 was reduced on the Moto UK website to £229 for the same spec and options as my handset. Absolute madness!
By comparison, An Apple iPhone 6 screen replacement directly through Apple costs approx £86.44 without their Apple Care package, £55 if you have Apple care. Motorola are ripping customers off with their repairs.
So what I have done is purchase a genuine screen replacement from a US based reseller on eBay. This cost £72 + £20 postage and £15 import tax, so £107 in total. I performed the repair myself, heating up the rear cover (bamboo) first to make it easier to remove, as there is a lot of adhesive! Thankfully there was no damage and could be re-applied. There are 18 T4 screws to remove, a couple of connectors for the battery, LCD etc.. the whole thing just lifts apart after that. Quite easy really!

There are slightly cheaper options that you can get from China and Hong Kong too. I went for the US seller because of the speed of delivery to the UK and I had slight worries whether the China based screens where genuine or not.

Don't throw away your money in replacing/repairing the screen! It did it twice and highly regret it. Seems like the screen is breaking on it's own!

How is the quality? same as original? what about the colors, contrast, etc?
I recently purchased a Mi Mix 2 from ebay, supposedly in perfectly mint condition and unused. Well I quickly discovered that the glass has 2 small scratches as if something heavy fell on it or as if the seller dropped the phone on its face... I'm getting nowhere with ebay or buyers protection so I'm looking into my other options.
Is it possible to exchange the glass alone (not the entire IPS panel)? Forgive me if that's something obvious, I've never done that before but willing to learn and getting help from friends with more experience.
I found offerings for example on aliexpress that seem to be what I need but still I have no clue whether this would actually work. Also I don't know how to remove the glass, is this process the same for all models? Can it be done?
If you do manage to replace the glass you'll probably be one of the first to do it. The ceramic body would probably make it quite difficult and without a teardown on i-fixit or wherever I personally wouldn't want to go at it.
Can you not just put a decent tempered glass protector on as usually the adhesive slightly fills imperfections and will make them invisible once it's applied?

Keep in mind that you are looking at only the glass. If glass and digitizer are glued together this will still be a tough fix.
