Cracked Screen Need Digitizer - Samsung Galaxy Tab Plus

Hi,
I've scratched my screen pretty deep . I will like to replace the screen and get a new digitizer but haven't found any online.
Has anyone had luck finding a Samsung Galaxy Tab Plus GT-P6200 Digitizer?
Thanks!
Yavila

Sorry to hear that...I would have cried a little. Best of luck fixing it.

Believe me, my soul weeps every time i see that scratch... its end to end

sorry to tell you but i really don't think their will be any for sale for a log time i mean like 5months as this is still a baby device but have you tried claiming on your house insurance that's what i did with my nexus s last year

they have the digitizers on ebay now
I ordered a replacement digitizer on ebay about 3 weeks ago. They ship free from Hong Kong and the sellers all say that it takes at least 3 weeks for delivery. More sellers are there now with the digitizers. I cannot find a teardown video anywhere. Also, some repair shops fix the old p1000 but not the tab plus.
You definately want the tools to come with the replacement digitizer. I'll give it a shot blindly if I don't find directions and post how it comes out.... hopefully from this device!

i fixed cracked glass yesterday
The directions for the p1000 screen teardown pretty much worked. I used a hairdryer an an exacto knife to separate the digitize from the lcd. This was tricky. Of course you know to always push the knife away from you lest you cut your wrist.
An eyeglass cleaning towel worked to clear off the lcd. I didn't want to risk any solutions on it.
Prices on digitizers are dropping on ebay. I paid 75 for the kit and it is about $10 cheaper. Shipping does take long!

You just need to make sure you are getting the correct digitizer from a well rated seller. It's an easy ebay search. Also, you need the tool kit. The concept is to slide the tool around the space between the glass and case to release the catches. YouTube has lots of videos on the topic. It was a while ago when I did mine and used the T1000 directions. There may be a video with the 7 plus by now.
Using a hair dryer to heat the glass is critical. It softens the adhesive and makes it less dangerous. An exacto knife, glass and lots of force is asking for a trip to the emergency room. Let the heat do its job and always work the knige AWAY from your body while supporting the assembly on a firm surface.
Taking your time is crucial. The job's not that hard as long as you stay organized and don't force it.

By any chance, has anybody purchased a digitizer that doesn't have the Samsung logo on it? I'm kicking around the idea of replacing the digitizer to give my tablet a cleaner look on the front.

Thank You.

Thanks for this,
There is a one problem still
The disassembly vid only contains half disassembly!
I'm looking for a video that shows how to take apart the metal front bezel.
Got any ideas?
I had looked into this originally, and had decided to abandon the idea.
It seemed like the glass is glued or taped onto the frame. A lot of the feedback that I got gave me the impression the glass would be easily broken by trying to remove it from the frame.
I also decided to abandon this idea.i'll take my galaxy to the laboratory. They can do the replacement for shure

I am a samsung tech and I order the screen as a whole.
Only bits you save are the mainboard, back, battery and battery cover.
everything else is replaced.
if you find anything else on ebay its a fake part and will void your warranty if anything else goes wrong.

[Q] Replacement Glass

So my transformer took a fall of a little less than two feet and now has a nice crack running across it. It's still useable and even looks normal at certain angles but I'm determined to replace it.
I'd be happy to have Asus do it if it's not too expensive, but they refuse to talk price over the phone or to give you any kind of contact information for their repair centers. If there is anyone who has had their glass replaced by Asus before please tell me: how much does it cost?
Doing it myself would be fine, but I can't find the glass anywhere. I've tried Asus (dead end), Ebay (nothing yet that I could find) and the web in general. Does anyone know where to find replacement gorilla glass for the tf101?
don't break any further or it will transform and kill you
usually repairs for those kind of products run about $150+, which i believe is too expensive.
Thanks for that, and yeah, that does sound too expensive. I think that money would be better spent on a tegra 3 transformer this winter
So now I just need to find someone who will sell replacement glass. Any ideas? Anyone here who has replaced gorilla glass before on another device - who did you buy it from?
Did you ever find replacement glass? Mine just took a tumble last night
SquareTrade is having mine repaired by a company called Professional Satellite Repair in Phillipsburg PA. I have no idea what they're charging, but their phone number is (877) 777-3491. Hope that helps. - sheureka
That does, I'll give them a call and if its reasonable, Ill send it out. Did SquareTrade say anything about charging you?
Any luck with this? These things are more disposable than tampons.. wtf is the tech industry becoming?
I am in direct contact with a local repair guy that just got a hold of a supplier for the capacitive glass for the transformer. Be patient. I'll post any further info when I have it.
I actually have access to the replacement digitizers problem is there making me purchase in bulk. From what info I've gathered these are DIRECT OEM ASUS front panels. I'm not sure how long the wait is if people are interested let me know and ill get actual pricing i'm not always on the board but you can email me at [email protected] for quicker response.
edit 1: I did gather the earliest they would ship is Feb 5th due to the Chinese holidays. They would price around $88 shipped I would need a minimum of 5 orders for that price. I personally need 1 so we would only need 4 more people. Just a thought guys if this is in the wrong section please let me know just trying to help.

Try talking to the following person. He just got a shipment.
[email protected]
I cant contact him using that email i even tried seller search. can you get me more info on his pricing and such
If this replacement digitizer/glass is 100% the same as the original equipment (eg 10 point touch and also gorilla glass), then I'm in for $88. Let me know how to join in the group buy.
His ebay username is gunzz11.
He gave me a deal, but I promised him I wouldn't say. I no longer want to do this. If you want a replacement glass, you talk to him.

LCD is easy to find. Its the capacitive glass that people have a hard time finding.
I don't understand why you guys insist on wanting to know how much he offered me. Just email him and find out.
So my TF101 got a crack. I believe it was from docking it but ASUS has denied my warranty claim (surprise). I was gonna take it out back and torch the thing then go buy an iPad but I think I may want to try and fix it myelf. Problem is now I don't know if I need the LCD or the digitizer. The crack on my screen is under the glass, does that eman I need the digitizer?

Ok, don't say I didn't warn you so.
The TF display has 2 layers, the upper gorilla glass and the lower display panel. The LCD is the lower display panel. The upper gorilla glass is the digitizer... well the capacitive sensor grid is attached to the glass.
The LCD is easy to find for about $50. It's the digitizer (the upper layer, the part that you touch, the touch screen) that people have trouble finding.
Now, here's the kicker. The digitizer glass is held to the rest of the device via very strong adhesives. I suggest using either a hot gun or a hair dryer to heat up the adhesives before removing.
Here is what I would suggest you do to get to this point.
(1) Remove the 2 screws in the bottom near the charging port.
(2) Remove the Bezel. Please let me know if you don't know how to do this safely. If you don't do this right, there's a chance you could permanently screw up the casing.
(3) Remove the necessary crews on the outer perimeter of the TF to remove the back.
(4) Unhook the ribbon wire that connects the digitizer to the motherboard. Should be on the left side if you're looking at the back.
(5) While the glass is facing you, heat up the perimeter of the glass and very carefully remove the glass.
(6) Apply the new glass digitizer.
(7) Don't forget to hook up the ribbon wire connecting the digitizer to the motherboard. Haha, I can already imagine your face (all red) when you put everything back together and then not have a working touchscreen
(8) Write me a check for $2,000.
This is just an outline. If you have further questions for specifics or want some pictures of the parts, please let me know. I know the TF anatomy inside out like the back of my hand.
Added by edit.
Do not skip any step, especially the very last step. Failing to follow all the steps will result in your in-laws camping out at your place for a month.

Replacement Screens

Hello,
I dropped my Nexus 4 and caused damage to the screen. There is a crack in the glass on the bottom half which causes touch not to work, but the top half is fully functional. Do I need to purchase a new screen and digitizer or just the screen?
I'm from Canada, so where is the best place to buy parts online?
Thanks

good luck!

As I know since the touch doesn't work on bottom then you need digitizer.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
The Top Glass is the Digitizer. You will need the LCD+Digitizer set. DO NOT order just the Digitizer glass. It is for Expert Techs ONLY. The Glass and LCD are fused together and requires very careful disassembly. I highly recommend getting the 3 piece Digitizer+LCD+Frame set as that is a quick swap of the Parts that takes about 15Min total. The Glass is glued with an RTV Silicon Adhesive type on the frame (They use the RTV adhesive on the Back cover glass too) and is annoying to remove as Heat doesn't work as well as the normal adhesive most companies use. Plus there is a chance you could scratch up the frame trying to remove the glass shards (and there WILL be shards.) I have done this replacement before on both the Front and Back Glass and it wasn't fun. Just save yourself the frustration and get the 3 piece set. You'll thank me for it.

Nexus 4 of course.
Again I highly reccomend getting the 3 piece with the Frame+LCD+Glass a 1 unit. You can sell the broken one on Ebay and get a few $ back that way. The swap out from that point is VERY easy and Quick. Youtube it or go to http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Nexus+4+Teardown/11781/1
All you are doing is a swap of the MB, USB Port, Cameras, Battery and the Switches. It is really easy and quick and requires very little skill. If you DO NOT get the 3 piece set and just the Glass+LCD then it's more difficult.
AGAIN! ANYONE who needs to replace the glass just get the 3 piece set. Follow the Dissassembly Guide (only need 2 tools a PLASTIC Pry tool and a #00 Phillips Screwdriver) I posted above. I know this is just me repeating my previous post above but I just wanted to stress this as there are sales out that sell JUST the Glass and getting just the glass will be a waste of money. There is also the Glass + LCD set but again 99.999999999% of people have neither the skill and/or the tools to separate the Broken glass from the Frame let alone the LCD itself. The glass has a Silicon Adhesive which resists heat (if you've worked on cars you know how fun RTV is, imagine it on Delicate electronics) and makes it hard to remove.

Hello!
First, sorry to open such an old thread, but I just try to follow XDA rules. And this one match most for what I'm looking for.
On my wifes Nexus 4, after she dropped it, touch screen stop to responce at about 1 cm wide stripe from bottom to top. Everything else is ok, glass is not broken. I'm asking if there is also necessary to find 3 piece set or I could manage to fix it with this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/LCD-Display...317?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e9850f8ed

That part doesn't include the bezel. When you disassemble the phone, the entire front assembly includes the bezel and screen assembly. With that part, you would have to remove the screen assembly from the original bezel, then adhere the new one in. It's doabable, but a bit of a PITA, especially if you don't have a heat gun to soften the original glue. For about $60 you can get the entire front, including the bezel (brand new, without dings in the chrome) and save yourself a huge hassle.

Original screen glass replacement?

Hi. I cracked the glass on my S4, and cant seem to find any replacement parts on the internet which are original.
Is it at all possible to get an original screen glass, and if not - Where would be the smartest to buy an non-original if considering quality?

My kid cracked his phone as well. Went to this lil kiosk in the mall and they cost like 150 to fix. Better off going thru the asurion to get a new phone.
I'm also interested, there's no way to find any information of the screen quality on the Internet as far as I can see.
I'd like just the glass as the phone works well, don't mind trying to replace it with tutorials available.
A friend of mine actually broke his screen and found a place to buy a replacement. He has the Sprint variant... I doubt they're not compatible... I'll ask him and see what I can find!
I have replaced a glass (on a separate phone) and glass+digitizer both purchased from etradesupply dot com. Their stuff seems to be legit OEM. I recommend them.

Good luck. If you are doing just the glass, just remember to take your time. The adhesive on the OEM glass is quite a pain to remove but it can be done without damaging the digitizer. Slow and steady! :good:
I replaced my severely cracked screen with a $6 replacement off ebay. Slooooow, steady process to remove the original screen being stuck to the digitizer with a clear adhesive. There are several videos on youtube to demonstrate the process. The new one works fine, although it is a little more reflective than the original. The touchscreen works well, but perhaps slightly less sensitive than before. A nice touch of the new screen is that the Back & Menu buttons are now blue, which looks good and is less bright than it used to be, which is an upgrade, to me. I'd say it leaves the phone about 95% as good as as it was before I dropped it. To me, well worth it to save $170 to extend the life of the phone until the S6 or S5 Prime or LG G3 or whatever phone is a big enough upgrade to make me jump. I did have a Note 3 for 9 days and it was epic, noticeably better than the S4 in pretty much every aspect, except that it was simply too big to deal with on a daily basis. But it did give me a nice dose of the level of performance I can look forward to with my next phone.
I also broke my glass few days ago and was thinking with replacing it with the new black edition glass that has no texture, just pure black. Does anyone know where I would be able to get my hands on that glass?
Thanks in advance!

If you don't want to mess with the adhesive buy the screen with the frame included. It's more expensive but much easier to replace and keep the phone in perfect condition.

Search eBay for "galaxy s4 screen frame genuine", at least if they send you a counterfeit item you can open a Paypal dispute for selling fake items.
You can buy the screen with the frame or not. I always buy with the frame.
Here's an example of the screen+digitizer (no frame), 132$
Genuine Samsung Galaxy S4 i9500 i9505 i337 M919 LCD Screen+Digitizer Touch Glass
Screen+digitizer+frame, 217$
Details about Samsung Galaxy S4 i9505 4G LTE Black Screen LCD Glass on Frame *GENUINE SAMSUNG*
The screen & digitizer will fit any S4 variant. But if you're buying one with the FRAME as well, there are 4 to choose from.
i9505 - fits i9505 ONLY
i9500 - fits i9500 ONLY
i545 - fits L720 & R970 also
i337 - fits M919 and i9505G also
I had mine done by a guy on Ebay.

Cost be about 65 bucks shipped. He uses the LOCA glue method (OEM style), not the double sided tape like most of the retail stores do. Sent it off and had it back within a few days. I just sent him my phone w/o battery and cover. Came back perfect in my opinion.
my local sprint store was going to repair my damaged LCD for $75... included new glass

Anyone replace U11 rear glass cover?

Has anyone done a replacement on their own? I'm hoping someone's done it and can say simple or watch out for X. I've got a heat gun, all kinds of tools, and have watched the teardowns.
I dropped it a month ago and just the corner was cracked, now most of the back is a spider web.
HTC branded ones are $80 on eBay and aren't the kind of thing you want to go cheap on. Thanks for any feedback.
I too need to know. Didn't even play with it for 6 hours and it tumbled and completely shattered. From the vids, it doesn't look too difficult but ya, if there is anything to look out for let us know. Thanks!
In the teardown videos you can usually see what you have to look for, like if there's something attached to it (NFC antenna for example).
Watch a few different ones and you should be good.
The only advice i can give from fixing a lot of phones is, to not rely on the adhesive which usually comes already placed on the part.
Buy some special liquid glue for it! It will save you a lot of headaches, keep it dust free and preserve the waterproof feature.
With the delievered adhesive you will soon have dust in your camera, and if you don't clean every bit of the old adhesive before
replacing it, sooner or later it will get loose.

Will do. I have a pile of parts for phone repair and glue tape. If a liquid glue is really better for the water sealing, is there a specific phrase to punch into Amazon to get the stuff you use?
Oddly enough, the part was $80 on eBay and they all disappeared. There's only $40 'used' but cosmetically perfect ones. I got the cheaper one and will be happy.
Thanks for the feedback. It should arrive this coming week. I'll post results.

There's no amazon where i live
Quick google search should give you some options
Used ones do not come with the double tape adhesive on the back and I'm not sure you can find that anywhere to buy. If you use some kind of liquid glue, which I did on an S7, because the phone is sealed, all the vapors will affect the internal components and you need to reopen the phone in order to clean them ( mine had a problem with the light on the menu button ) which will result in breaking the glass back.
You have two options:
1. buy some glue that is made specifically for this
2. buy some double sided tape ( best option ).
Good luck !
It actually came with the factory tape on and an extra set of 3m tape. It was exactly the same as the stuff used by the factory. The only area not covered was a section of the lower right of the phone. I cut up some of the extra and stuck it down. Heat it all up and its new again.
Zero complaints, easy. Thanks for the pointers!

I got it from eBay. KK Parts was the vendor. I got a screen a few weeks later from them because they sent what they described. They were honest with a small scratch on the screen I got a few weeks later. When I looked at eBay vendors (all China), a lot had taken pictures from another post. KK was one of 2 or 3 who showed pictures of what you were buying.
Plus... the rear glass had the factory waterproof tape mounted on the back and they gave extra strips. I'd buy from them again
Hi Jimbob,
Do you have a link to the ebay page? I am having trouble finding that vendor.
Thanks for your help.

That's just the glue mate, not the cover, but yea I can fix it.
HTC U11 Life back cover repair
I've seen some repair video online and it seems not difficult. I had a HTC U11 and crack on back cover accidentally, bought a new cover from witrigs and replace it myself, it's quite easy than I thought, just follow the tutorial and heat up for enough time.
