Sorry if this has been posted before....but is it possible to flash a T-mobile ROM on a Verizon note 5?
I left big red for T-Mobile and bought a unlocked Note 5 that was originally on Verizon.
It works fine with T-Mobile and I am overall happy with the network.
However I travel a lot and would like the option of WIFI calling and also to be able to use the free in air txting on GOGo inflight.
In order to do that it seems I need the T-mobile firmware? Or is this something I can flash?
As the phone is now I have no option to turn on WIFI calling in any of the the settings.
Thanks!
Nope. If you try. You will soft brick it. Only way to recover is Odin back to stock TMO firmware. I attempted with and s4 and s6 from Verizon. I eventually caved and ponies dup for a TMO note 5. The lack of volte alone killed me.
I have a N920V as well and am now using t mobile with great Lte speeds. You 1)dl BK Package Disabler app for Samsung, 2)give it admin permission and disable all Verizon packages (except Mobile Hotspot And Tethering to keep that function), 3)input APN settings for t mobile manually, then reboot. I am unrooted and have great network functionality that rivals Verizons so called superior service.
For in flight free texting there is no need for TM firmware. I have international Note 4 (N910F) with generic rom for TM plan. GoGo works fine during my frequent Delta flights.
I have s7 verizon and have used many verizon galaxy on t-mobile. Wi-Fi calling cant be added. I am able to use the internet intermittently whilst talking but on 3g. On some verizon phones it was nothing while talking.
I have the nexus 6 on Verizon. I really would like to have the note 5. Will the T-Mobile note 5 work on Verizon?

What exactly are you trying to accomplish? My sprint note 5 runs great on t-mobile. I get faster data on my sprint note 5 than on my t-mobile note 3.
exactly what you have , how did you get it to work on tmobile
The download booster feature is not on Sprint rom

Hi 954wrecker,
I also have a Sprint Note 5 (SM-920P) which is running perfectly on Ting.com using GSM.
Why on GSM instead of Sprint? I changed jobs and GSM coverage is better than CDMA at my new location.
Anyway, What DOES work. . .
1. Calls
2. Automatically Switch between GSM LTE and GSM 3G (when needed)
3. Send/Receive Text (but need to use Textra with Port 80 to send Receive MMS)
2. WiFi
3. WiFi Hot Spot
What does NOT work is. . .
1. my VoiceMail Notifcations icon. If I get a message, I never receive the "Voice Mail" Notification icon at the top.
Question-1: Does your VoiceMail notification icon work? (when you get a new VoiceMail message)
Question-2: Would flashing the SM-920T(T-Mobile) Stock ROM on my SM-920P(Sprint) brick my phone?
Thanks ! !

Don't know about voicemail. There was a little voicemail notifier applet around somewhere that might work if you can find it. You might try just removing all sprint voicemail apps.
You cannot odin other phone firmware. You could try flashing a tmobile custom rom with twrp but you also have to flash a sprint kernel along with it that matches the bootloader/firmware you are running or it probably wont run. I recommend one of the beastmode kernels.
Sprint phones need a sprint rom for the cellular radio to work. If you want a wifi tablet you can flash any gsm rom. Try visual voicemail see if that works, i dont use tmobile anymore just ringplus.

I'm looking to see if this is possible too. When I got a Sprint Note5 in exchange for my T-Mobile Note5 because of issues, it works but I lost a lot of good functionality. Video calling, download booster, just to name a few...
Just seeing if this is possible. I'm on AT&T and had the Note 3 and 4 previously. There is no way I'm getting a Note 5 which can't be rooted, so I'm thinking of getting the Tmobile one. My only issue is that I need WiFi calling at home, where I get crappy reception. AT&T WiFi calling has been a lifesaver.
So, any possibility of getting AT&T WiFi calling on a tmobile Note 5? I don't mind rooting and changing rom, although I have a feeling the issue is with the lack of hardware bands.

Due to the hardware differences in the att and
the tmobile phones tmobile's wifi calling will not work on an att phone even if the att phone is unlocked and rooted.
Good luck,

AT&T currently only supports WiFi Calling on the iPhone 6/6+/6S/6S+.
The software installed on our phones is configured to work with T-Mobile's implementation of WFC, and would most likely not work even when AT&T brings WFC to Android.
I spoke to a technician in Sprint and he told me the S7 only has one antenna the note 3 has two.
That is the reason why I cannot talk and internet at the same time.
Anyone has any experience on this or can verify this?
Thanks

Guys anyone can shed some light on thus issue? I spoke to a samsung tech guy and told me the reason why the kote 3 can be on data and voice at the snaw time its because the way it connects using g2 and g3. The s7 its using lte and the carrier is jot ready yet to provide that kind of service. Any one can help on this issue?
Also is there a way to force the s7 to use g2 and g3 only?
Thanks

I1 founs this article:
Unfortunately you cannot do this anymore on Sprint. I will list below as to why.
The older phones had two CDMA radios put in them (such as the S3 on Sprint). One dedicated to voice -- another dedicated to data. Therefore you could do voice and data. GSM has always been one radio .. because that one radio can do both tasks at the same time. They got around it on CDMA by simply adding another radio in there and dedicating each one to one task.
Now a days they're getting rid of that second CDMA radio. So therefore you can only use talk, or data -- not both at the same time. Now if you're using VoLTE it will allow voice and data since the call will be going through LTE (as data) and .. data will be data. So it is technically then all data. Verizon can get by since they have VoLTE ... Sprint doesn't yet so .. No other work-around except to just use WiFi while on the call.

Alright... I'm so excited for my 2nd note to come. This is also my 2nd sprint but who cares right? My last note was the Note 4 from at&t and i kinda miss it. But the battery kept overheating and I couldn't flash a rom on the phone. But I know I can if I have a sprint or a tmobile galaxy. Lol I seen YouTube and XDA.. So What's the Best Rom for this note?
I need everything for this thing.( Recovery,Rom...(S8/Note 8 port), everything). I'm using my s6 edge on tmobile and the signal is really low. I mean I still get good 4g lte signal but around 1 to 3 bars. Especially when I'm on the phone with somebody. Wifi calling is included. Hotspot is included. Almost everything works except binge on and visual voicemail. I can get the phone unlocked it's been paid in full.. I just need this thing to run like it's successor (note fe or note 8). it be cool to have the sprint 4g lte icons and the sprint boot up screen and make it feel more authentic with Better speeds and everything and I think that's what sprint has one up on. But I love tmobile so thats why I want this to run as a sprint phone using tmobile. Especially with extended range? I need help and input.
I'm not sure n920p is going to work well for you from a WiFi calling standpoint. Sprint WiFi calling isn't compatible with TMobile's system so the ROM will have to be tailored to work. I had a similar issue with Mint Sim with my Sprint Note 5.
I'm a boost customer and absolutely need wifi calling because I live in the sticks. My daughter is using my old Sprint Note 4 that I had activated on Boost and she has wifi calling working. So I'm wondering if I buy a Sprint Note 5 and activate it on Boost will I be able to use the wifi calling feature as well. It's not offered on the Boost Note 5 so I was thinking of buying the Sprint version. I bought a S7 from Boost a year ago and was guaranteed that the wifi calling would work only to get home and not be able to enable it cause it doesn't exist on my phone. After many calls to Boost and lots of searching I realize I'm out of luck with my current phone.
FYI, I'm not a techie so any abbreviations that I can't google will go over my head!
Thanks,
Jen

If the device supports Wi-Fi calling, it should work, I don't think it has anything to do with who the carrier is as long as the carrier itself also supports Wi-Fi calling.
