I don't know, what you think, but:
I think that the nexus One doesn't need a Ringtone if it lies on a table.
The vibration makes so much crappy noises and unfunny sounds, that no one can hear some ringtone ;-)
OK, I'm just kiddin...
But:
I like the vibration much. If I have the Nexus in the jacket or the trousers, I need it, because sometimes I can't hear it ringing.
When I'm in office, my Nexus lies on the table. Now I don't need the vibration. Only ringtone.
Now I've to make the changes: I lie the Nexus on the table and change the vibration to off. Going away, I take my Nexus and change the vibration to on.
What do you guys think? Am I the only one, who think that the vibration mode isn't very impressive on the table?
Is it possible to make a setting to swith the vibration off, if the nexus lies straight on a floor? I think of using the G-Sensor for this.

What if you are sitting down and the phone is in your pocket? Wouldn't the phone be horizontal then? Maybe it would need be refined to only disable the vibrate function when the phone is horizontal AND the screen is facing up. I assume most people probably put the phone in their pockets with the screen facing their leg...
Not a bad idea though. It's similar to other phones that will stop ringing if you put the phone face down.
Don't other HTC devices have this capability? Like some have a vibrate only function, or a silence if you flip it over while it's ringing.
Yeah, ringing is okay, ringing must be on, but the vibration is so scary on a table...
I have the vibrate set to "strong" but I'm noticing it's very weak. Almost too weak to notice, does anyone else agree?
I have mine on strong as well and it's not that strong. Don't want to know what weak feels like.
Lol. It vibrates? I must have missed that.

It works fine for me. If I was playing basketball or something, I think the sound alert would be best. But for a meeting, I have it on weak and its ok. I guess I'm more sensitive. The strong in a meeting, other people can hear the buzz.
I just got a Neo, and i agree that vibration is very weak.
I came from a Pebble kickstarter edition, and that vibrated a lot stronger.
On the Neo, i often miss messages because of the weak vibrations...never happened on the Pebble.
Gear 2, weak vibrate here too. I never tried the 1st gen Galaxy Gear so I can't compare the two. But I'm definitely disappointed. The biggest driver for me getting the Gear 2 was because I miss phone calls and other notifications a lot when my phone is in my pocket, I was hoping this was the answer but so far it hasn't been. Making the band snug helps some. I wonder if the people who have swapped to a metal band have noticed any improvement with the vibration?
Can't have vibration and sound at the same time?

+1 that was also my reason for getting the watch - missing notifications. (That and I can answer the phone on it, so cant do pebble) Lets hope on the next software push they have a "super strong" because what they call strong, if I am moving around, cant be felt. Maybe an option for vibration patterns might help too. Like if it would buzz me longer or more times that would be better at least.
having same problem
Gear 1 vibration was way stronger!

Yep, very disappointing. I have the Neo and I sometimes won't even feel it if I'm moving around.

Same here, came from a pebble, have my phone on silent and my watch too, depend on the vibration to notify me of missed calls or texts during meetings, sometimes cant feel a thing, hoping with time some dev finds a way of increasing strength or length of vibrate
See, to me, the vibration is perfect! I was using a ZWatch for a while and that thing sounded like an industrial vibration unit was strapped to my arm. My boss always knew when something came in, so I typically didn't bother with the vibration feature except for wake-up alarms.
With this, I get two very quick buzzes and it's silent. I've set it so the notification doesn't force the display to turn on so I can be more discreet in seeing my notifications.
I see nothing wrong with the vibration.
However, if others require more, then hopefully there's something that can be done to address it.
Hmm.. so the Gear 2 have loud shutter button but weak vibration.

Agreed! Gear 1 was much stronger. I dont think I even used it on its strongest setting it worked much better.
I miss the buzz on my Gear 2 anytime I'm moving around alot, and a lot of the time when Im driving.
Then the fun of the phantom buzz has begun. Im paying more attention looking for that faint buzz that I keep checking it for notifications to find there aren't any. Just like when you have your phone on vibrate and you THINK you felt it. ugh. (Biggest complaint about the watch.)
When I first got my Gear2 I noticed the vibrate anytime it went, but now I hardly notice it and often miss it I made sure mine is set to strong too.
When i was going through the initial setup, I'm not even sure why but the watch vibrated and it was VERY strong.... now "strong" feels like 10% of the vibration I initially felt.
Very disappointed with that, and the pedometer... I swear I sat around the house eating junk food all day and i'm nearing 4500 steps.....
I just went and got a gear 2 since my gear one broke and i have to say the vibration on this thing is much much weaker, the speaker on the other hand is much louder.
I've had 3 Nexus 5's so far due to one RMA and lastly because of a mistake on Google's part. But with all 3 Nexus 5's I have had two bugs that have been driving me nuts. I was curious to see how many people have had the same problems and if anyone knew of a fix. Bugs:
1) Keypad buttons being pressed while on a call. This happens almost every call. It seems that the screen is still active even if the proximity sensor turns off the screen. I haven't been able to reproduce it on purpose, but every single call I take I hear buttons being pressed. Sometimes it's like my notification bar get's pulled down, then the clock is clicked and I feel all these vibrations and ringing sounds and I look down at my phone and I'm in the date/time settings. This happens even if I don't have the dialer keys open. Weird.
2) Say I'm laying in bed and I answer a call. It seems as if there is some sort of setting for the accelerometer that if my head is tilted too much it's as if the microphone stops working... almost like the phone tries to switch to the second microphone (the one not normally used for phone calls). I can't tell you how many times I've been in bed and get a call from my wife (who works night shifts) calling to say goodnight and if I ever put my head back on my pillow she can't hear a word I say. As soon as I lean forward again she can hear me.
These are two problems that I have had with 3 different Nexus 5 phones. I've experienced the same problem with both Franco Kernel and the stock kernel. I don't know what else to do but it's driving me crazy. Anyone else seen these problems or know of a fix?
Thanks in advance.
Try turning your screen off during a phone call and see if there are still key presses being made. Depending how you hold the phone, the proximity sensor might switch the screen on during your call and could register key presses from your ear. The sensor is on the right side of the phone and will "miss" your head if it's behind it.
Unless you're leaving the digitizer enabled (tap2wake etc.) it shouldn't happen.
The mic issue while lying down seems to be common. Your head/pillow blocks the sound and noise cancelation wigs out. You could alter the way you hold the phone while lying down so the secondary mic at the top sticks out more. Personally, I just sit up and haven't had an issue with the noise cancelation since.

Ive just noticed something strange with my phone. I had it placed flat on my desk and was looking at something with my face close to the screen and I can hear a very faint buzzing, like whwn a radio is on but the volume is turned down to zero. It seems to come on and off randomly....
The sound only happens when the phone is on a flat surface and you have to really listen out for it in a silent room.
Any idea what this is? I do have bluetooth and wifi turned on...
Happened to me last night as well.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers.
Glad im not the only one! It almost sound like the mic is being turned on and is recording! Spooky!!

When you'll hear it next time turn off DTS, touch sounds and lock sounds in sound settings and wait a few seconds.
Buzzing appears a few seconds after some sound came out of the speakers.
Anyone knows who should we contact and where to suggest a fix in the next update?

they MIGHT hacking ? or checking our phones spying that we have no idea ..
The Google now function always listens? One processor core Is always dedicated to Google now. You can disable this function. If it is not Google now I am very interested to know too. I am very against Google now do function, I do not like when the phone always listen to what you say. And the voice recognition is so good know days that they can turn it to searchable text in the other end...
Some one did mention it is Chinese. I would be more worried if it was American.

Do you know what it is?
My wife has this to.. Weird

I dont know for sure but I think its the NFC chip in the phone seeking out a connection...it only seems to happen when the phone is on a surface. I could be entirely wrong of course. The thing is NFC looks like its turned off in my settings but I dont think it actually is...
When in vibrate mode, I can't feel any notification !
The phone does vibrate but the vibration is so slight I can't barely even hear it when the phone is close to me on the table.
When the phone is in my pants pocket or on a soft surface, I cant feel a thing at all.
Has anyone experienced this yet?
Thanks.
I can say what your describing is the exact issue I had with my OnePlus 5 and installed EX Kennel to bump the vibration strength but want by much unfortunately.
I have my OnePlus 6 in the OnePlus sandstone case and it cause the vibration much easier to hear sure to a slight restore but not annoying at all. I agree though in my pocket I barely hear it and certainly can't feel it.
Do you mean, it's normal and inherent to OnePlus to have very faint unfeelable vibration?
yeah the vibration on this phone is pretty crappy. They defiantly used cheap parts. One of my cons of this device.

You can adjust vibration intensity for calls and notifications in the sounds menu
Actually it's not cheap parts, it's small parts. The vibrator seems to be very small (see iFixit) probably to make room for other things (which I approve )
That was the first thing I tried.
Before posting this thread.
Yep I'm in the same boat. The awful weak vibration on this phone really sucks. I hope it can be at least slightly improved in software...
unfortunately history shows it's not possible to mend it. Since OPO they couldn't manage a proper motor on any OP phones as I read. The saga continues. (I had OPO, this was my biggest issue at the time, now same with OP6)
so does everyone just keep the ringtones on?
It's a real shame - you don't notice how important it is until it's gone... I'm still holding out hope for a way to change the pattern - if it went a bit longer for notifications I might notice it but the two weak little buzzes aren't doing much. Any ideas?
i sit on my bed the phone stays besides me...maybe only 3 inch away from me.. notice only 3 inch and still I can't feel it or hear it.. it's not possible to always keep the phone in ring mode.. tried ex kernel to increase..it slightly improved but not that much to be felt... it's a shame..and i think I'll have to change this phone for only this reason..this is a pretty great phone but this little thing makes a world of a difference for me
---------- Post added at 12:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:00 PM ----------
it's not quite possible...i had a 5t with same problem.. tried blu spark kernel and it improved to feel at least but with this op6 it's not possible because i tried ex kernel and same sh*t vibration
I've been consistently missing texts due to this. Is there a kernel fix anyone has? I'm thinking of installing one. CleanSlate looks good, but I don't think it does vibration intensity. Darn shame.
Looks like that's what it is.
Maybe we can ask Oneplus support to consider it for some next update?
I had the same issue with my OP5T. Could only feel light vibration and nothing when in pocket. Now the situation is even worse. My phone doesn't vibrate at all in Vibrate mode and I don't find any options to customize it.
Yeah, it sucks. Even coming from an old phone like the 6s Plus, the motor was a huge downgrade.
I was surprised to see that there isn't an option for making your own vibration patterns like iOS does.
Strange because it's usually iOS that abstains cool features.
Maybe some dev can build a magsik module that checks the proximity sensor and if triggered (like the pocket mode), it vibrates way longer, like 70ms.
