I saw several reviews from Mate 7 and I loved it, It´s an incredible phone, but some important aspect for me is the community development. I like to get root, flash Roms and get updates to be in the last version
But I found that this forum has very little development
Is it because Huawei launches few updates?
Do you think it will be the same with future Huawei phones like Honor 7, ascend S....

Its mainly because its not a mainstream device which is sold far less then fi Samsung, LG, HTC etc. and scource codes are only public in a limited form afaik. Most development is done for Qualcomm CPU based devices.

They ar no interested in Huawei phones so much ... they need to be popular to get devs. think oh yeah it is worth now..
If it could be possible at least decompile apks from stock rom maybe there would be more development
But for sure the different soc and the fact that it's not so supported by updates are relevant aspects in this kind of issues
Understand.. It's a pity, because that might be the reason why I won't buy phones like ascend mate 7 or honor 7. If we pay these high prices we deserve the phone to be updated, I think

Actually you are right, it's really cheap compared to LG, Samsung etc.. But I was comparing to other brands like Xiaomi, Umi, Elephone or Ulefone, which is what I'm gonna buy next, that's why I called the others from Huawei or Honor 'high price'

am pretty sure u won't go for those a little bit ''amateurish'' phones .. only two chinese brands are for me reliable and trust-able Huawei and Vivo
I have Vivo X5Pro too and it is very nice slim phone .. with Eye ID scan
Thinking of switching to a mate 8. What are your guys opinion ? Also if anyone would be interested in trading me for my 64gb 6p . Also how is the camera quality in other apps such as instagram, snapchat ,etc? I remember on my old lg v10 it looked horrible due to not being optimized. thanks
Only thing this phones missing is pure aosp or cm Roms. Other than that, this is the phone the 2015 nexus should've been
cm roms wouldnt offer much more than the huawei roms, theyre already choke full of functions and extra settings as for aosp looks, u can adapt those easily via themes or custom launcher, no problem there.
im actually very happy that i didnt go the 6p route, the mate 8 is definitely the best phone ive ever had!

mate 8 is much faster and smoother than the nexus 6p
the cpu is a beast
but the camera is crap
I just thinking sell my z5 p and get mate 8. Still can't decide it is worth or not
If the nexus 6P was six inches and had a 4000mah battery I would have gotten that. It doesn't so to me the Mate 8 is better. If a manufacturer doesn't put in a large battery, I don't buy their device.
Mate 8 is better then nexus 6P as well as Z5.
I.have used both for some time.
Battery life is amazing

I can live with that since no other phone out there now suits me better. The screen, battery life and the fantastic audio with headphones I can not be without.

Hey everyone,
Really thinking about getting the Mate 8 in 32gb black. I use tmobile in the USA, is LTE and Volte enabled and working or no?
Also which version should I get?
Thanks
Don't think it matters too much which version you get. T-Mobile should be fine with International version (29) but I'd rather someone confirm as I'm relatively new to the device.
It's a very smooth and fast phone. Loving it here (UK)
Only major annoyance so far is the lack of themes which theme the full system for EMUI V4.

Awesome thank you! Where is the best place to buy the L29?
Check out Aliexpress. Just having a read around and both the AL10 and AL29 models should be fine.

Using the L29 model here in USA with T-mobile. I think this phone is very underrated and it's one of the most powerful phones I have used. I have been using a new phone every year since 2008 but I think Mate 8 is gonna break that pattern for me. Either I may get mate 9 or continue using this as long as I can.
Things I like about this phone
- Battery life (easy 2 days with about 6 hours of screen on time)
- Its super fast
- Mocha brown looks sexy
The only downside for most people will be the EMUI(I have started liking it though). It will be nice if there is some CM development for the device which seems unlikely at this point. But IMO the combination of EMUI and the hardware makes all the difference in Mate 8. I am not sure if battery life would be same if I put CM onto this.
I'd suggest you checkout ebay. I got mine for around $575 (with $50 in ebay bucks) making it $525.
for cpu .battary.screen .smooth yea
for cam no
Hi everyone,
I have been in this forum for a long time, so for this I would like to ask your advise of where to go next.
I want to buy a new phone, OPO will stay with me of course, but I want to keep with all the rom stuff, updates all time, improving software guys I mean that I want to flash stuff all the time.
So I know already that I will not buy a pixel, they went crazy with the price, so for me I was thinking op3 or nexus 6p.
So this is the question, what to buy and why? Any other option?
Thanks guys
Sent from my A0001 using Tapatalk
rocking my OP3, flashing roms daily
Also still flashing stuff on my OPO and OP2
OP3 best choice as u r used to be flashAholic
Waiting on the Xiaomi Mi Mix, that thing looks sweet
Thanks guys, we'll this is the things. There is so much to choose from that I don't know. The worst is that op3 will be upgraded now. Rumored that it can be an is display but 2k. Well anyway I still don't know what to buy

Lol so what if theres going to a upgrade, theres always going to a upgrade mate. The oneplus 3 is a GREAT phone even if there is a upgrade, how many people will switch from a op3 to a 'mk2 op3'? Not many, especially not developers. Dont worry about it. This is coming from someone with a OPO as well
I read somewhere that nokia is gonna release 2 android phones Q4 this year.
Iy would be a dream come true.
Not surprissing I guess...

No rootles, no update -> adios huawei !

As much as I like the hardware Huawei's support sucks. The NA region is still stuck on 8.
Next time I will be getting a samsung tablet as much as I hate them.
US user, and this will be the last Huawei device I buy. One 'major' release, and virtually no security patches. North American market was sold a bill of goods. At least Sammy supports ALL their consumers.

Agree 100% Huawei can take there tablet and shove it as far as I see it.
Will be getting a pixel c or slate when I can justify it.
Hmm lol....well gonna pass on the "no more Huawei for me" train. I have found over the years most that say this never keep their word. I can show you the posts where M5 will NEVER get EMUI 9. And the post "no more Huawei for me". I've had almost all the name brand tablets over the years and the only one that STILL gets updates is one I could really careless about. Amazon
All I knew from the past, what I read about the M5 pro was, its on 8 and will never be updated. Some were people saying they talked to customer service. Yet when I asked them yesterday they said don't worry yours will get 9.1.1. And if 9 is Just coming out.. then 10 will be awhile. I do love Samsung but.. man as each day passes.. more AD's are being seen in programs than never before. As if my $800 was not enough. Its silly and just me I know but when just downloading a new theme I had to watch 14seconds.. things like that. And rooting on top of that was night mar. Unless you bought it out SIDE the USA (different chip set). I already know slow they are Huawei when it comes to updates.. I have p30 pro phone. And.. so.
At least many other OEMs that stop support for their tablets after the first major update, allow the bootloader to be unlocked. Thus I could use Custom ROMs to keep my tablet alive. With Huawei this isn't possible as well. So there's even one more bummer.

Don't forget Samsung explosive battery. It may come back with tab s7.
If anything, I've found Huawei better than most for updates. We've had a lot of discussion about the situation with Google and the US, at which point I changed to a Xiaomi phone, but still pleasantly surprised to get updates on my M5.
A colleague on the other hand, had hardly had any updates on his old Huawei handset, but still liked it enough to replace it with a P30 lite. So they're still doing something right.
You can thank that cretin trump. The M5 was android enterprise certified, with at least 2 major version updates, and 4+ years of support. That went out the window when Huawei got too god at making 5G hardware that US companies were left in the dust

The same happened to my previous Samsung Note Pro 12.2 tablet
I've just had M5 8 May security patch here in UK plus on build 9.1. For me I'm impressed with the updates.
On the other hand I have a M5 lite 8 and this is on January security patch.
Biggest problem with Android these fractured updates.

I had a major update to EMUI 9. I actually see on firmware finder that EMUI 10 is also out there. I'm not just sure if it has been approved for distribution. I also don't know if I want to test flashing it in case Huawei breaks root (again).
