My wifes Moto G occaisionally crashes and reboots. It hasnt happened very often but I would like to know if it is happening to anyone else and if they know the cause? Maybe it's a bug that will be sorted with a future software upgrade?
The same is happening to me right now, I'm running 4.3. Sometimes it becomes very annoying; I already contacted Motorola through, they're supposed to call me later today...
I hope that KitKat solves this issue because I don't want to root yet.

Ah so it's not just us then. I hope that an update will cure it as I doubt that my wife would let me root her phone. Will be interesing to see what Motorola say.

Mine even reboots during the start-up animation, it has become so annoying. A shame since it is a great device
I'll report with the results later.

Same issue here. Got the device, (US GSM) on Dec. 14th, and had it happen a couple of times. I didn't think anything of it, because this phone is for my son, and I was trying out parental control stuff on it. I wrapped it, and it sat under the tree till the 25th, which is when I updated it to 4.4, and the crashing has gotten worse. I get random app crashes, and more reboots now than ever. I cleared the partition cache, which didn't work. I am going to try a factory wipe and see if that fixes it, but I honestly doubt it. Moto chat told me to call in the morning to talk to a level 2 tech.
So, there seem to be a few of us, but I didn't see anything on their support forums....

So far I've had a single instant reboot in the camera app. Hope it doesn't get worse.
The phone is still rebooting sometimes. Is there any way I can check why it is happening like something that will create an error log? Or does anyone have any tips for stopping it happening? It is a very minor nuisance at the moment but I'm afraid it might get worse. Especially if it is a problem with the hardware rather than the software.
I have a UK moto g and it hasn't rebooted on me yet the past week I have had it
Sent from my XT1032 using xda app-developers app
I've got the International 8 GB version from Koodo and it hasn't rebooted since I started using it full time on Dec 28. It remains powered up 24/7.
Often these reboots and crashes are user app related, it may be a good idea to data factory reset the phone and see if the issue remains.
Undervolting the cpu may cause these issues too if you undervolt too much.
I have 120 apps installed and had no crash/reboot so far in the 3 weeks i had the phone.
I have same trouble. My device is crashing and rebooting sometimes at day. Is there any solution??
Moto g purchased in mexico, telcel.
Guys, return it to your phone dealer if you can. Waiting for a fix(that may or may not come) will just increase your pain. If the service center spots the restart, they should definitely repair/replace your phone.

Yes it could be but I think it's most likely Android OS or Motorola's own certain app that's causing this. My device resets so frequently that's it become impossible to use, unbelievably it reboots every 5-10min, even when I leave the phone on standby I see it rebooting it self.
It's no just specific app that I use, it has rebooted while I'm browsing (Google Chrome), in Gallery app, on Play Store and also when I was transferring images from pc to the device!
Motorola Chat support are useless, they just game me links to Moto UK Support contact, that's it. Not much of advice.
So I will be taking it back to Phone4u store and possibly get it replaced if they can.
Kit kat seems to have fixed problem.

My wifes phone seemed to be getting worse. It rebooted four times the day before yesterday. It always seemed to be worst when we were travelling.
Yesterday morning the Kit Kat update became available. The phone hasn't rebooted since. Hope I'm not speaking too soon but fingers crossed it seems to be fixed.
We got 2 Moto G's in our family (one for me, one for my father), both ordered from Amazon.de as 8gb version (XT1032)
I haven't seen any reboots on one of these devices. They both got updated to 4.4.2 yesterday and also no crashes.
Has anyone found out what is causing the crashes? Is it maybe even a hardware failure?

If the Kit kat upgrade has cured the problem on my wifes phone then it must have been software related. Possibly an app I had downloaded was causing it. It's worth pointing out as well that most people didn't seem to have this issue.
BTW I spoke to Motorola chat a few days ago using the help app. on the phone. They told me it was probably an app I had downloaded causing it and a factory reset would sort it. Installing the upgrade seems to have done the same thing though.
Happy to hear it's not something hardware related.
I even had reboots with my nexus 5, 4 on random basis (not often). Must be some sort of app I've had installed on all my devices
I received mine in december (from Amazon [Retail.FR]) and experienced some crashes (almost every day).
I installed KitKat on it and did two factor resets to be sure it was not software related issues. Since then, a week ago, I experienced a crash every day and half (screenshot). Crash happened without any reason or specific context.
My serial number is: TA8900B6##
I decided to return my Moto G to Amazon and buy a new one.
I'm experiencing the same and I decided to try to run a constant logcat in the background to see what's going on. Also is there any way to have a constant recording with dmesg? I'm no linux commands expert.
For logcat (in terminal emulator) I used logcat > sdcard/logcat.txt which is growing in size as far as I can see. Hopefully this brings some news.
Good luck everyone.
Cheers
So I recently started having touch screen lag and was searching around on how to fix it. Unfortunately none of the solutions really worked, but changing theme from stock did help a bit. I have not yet found a solution which is why I need your help. Please contribute anything, anything at all.
So when I restarted my phone into safemode all the lag was gone, I will start to isolate a service or an app that is causing this. Anyone else feel free to help out please !
EDIT: Uninstalled xposed but no changes. I'll try root next.
My OPO is lagging, too. The update to 05Q didn't fix it. It seems to get worse when the phone gets hot, which is what a lot of other people are reporting.
It's getting really annoying. I'm going to try a full factory reset, but I'm not hopeful since the temperature thing leads me to believe that it's hardware related. I'll probably end up getting a new phone.
Keep us updated on what you find. I love this phone so I really don't want to get rid of it.

Well well, I deleted it and I noticed a improvement in the lag, but there are still random lag spikes which just MAKE ME WANT TO SMASH THE DAMN THING!!! Even my moto G can handle touchscreen latency better than this. I'm debating on weather to do a factory reset or not... and yesterday all my contacts disappeared for no reason... For some strange reason the lag is extremely less in safe mode which leads me to believe that it must be some other app as well. I have tried uninstalling xposed but it was not the source of the problem, neither are my root apps. Ill try uninstalling avast next (I mainly use it for a firewall with root). This is definitely a software problem because when I use twrp the touchscreen works perfectly fine. ARGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
Disabling swype to type helped a lot but that is not a viable solution and CM or OPO should fix this.
To be honest my lag problem wasn't that savere it was intermittent. But at times it would flare up and I noticed it not only on my opo but my sisters glx s3 after adblock plus was installed.
Opo is good hardware but the software side is very much to be desired.
On a sidenote.... Update to 05Q yesterday has left me with a very bad network reception :weep: it will just no longer work indoors!!!!!! So will have to downgrade to 44S withba complete wipe.

After that update, I also had reception issues. I had to go back to settings and under mobile networks > APNs, select a different APN and then switch back to the original one.

Guys and girls,
This has been occuring on and off on my OPO.
Safe mode partly cures but not fully
Uninstalling all 3rd party apps, does not solve
Installing Swiftkey does not solve
Problem deteriorates gradually over a few days
Tweaking system/theme settings makes no difference
Running command line into terminal - no solution
The only way I solve this problem is by factory resetting and trying to standardise/keep simple/keep minimal my system settings. I don't install apps that I don't absolutely need. I back up all my data on a HDD so the only thing I lose is my time to reinstall and tweak settings. About an hour.
Infuriating, but feeling of heavy relief sets in once solved!
Hi All,
During the last couple of weeks, with different ROMs I've been experiencing some touch screen issues. I feel like there is a 0.5s delay/lag on the touches which makes using the phone annoying. I can barely type and touches are not really accurate.
Not sure if there is any good app for testing the touchscreen, but I tried one (Test Touch) and as far as I can see, touches are not registered or are intermittently registered when fast touching the screen. (See Video). When I slowly drag the finger, a continuous line is traced.
I couldn't find anyone else having the same issue hence I'm posting this. Thanks for the help.
Current ROM: Temasek's UNOFFICIAL Build, 10.1, CM 12.1 .
Stock kernel.
Edit: Ram use is always lower than 50% and CPU usage is low.

You're not the only one- I opened a thread about this. Seems as something happened as people updated to android 5.x as did with me.
Hopefully someone can figure something out!
Seems more like an input lag- like you mentioned. Really annoying and makes it hard to type fast or use swype function.

I've been having this issue too! I thought it was the ROM, but I am on my second one now with the same touch lag . I didn't have the issue in 5.0, though. I might consider downgrading and hope that that fixes my issue. Any help on this would be much appreciated

I'm travelling in a few days and can't go abroad with the phone in this "working" conditions so I will have to downgrade for sure. Any 5.0 ROM to recommend? A solution for 5.1 would be better

I flashed Slim ROM, touches delay improved a bit but I was experiencing some lag on the hardware keys.
I just flashed last bacon firmware (from April 09) and RobbieL811 ROM and seems to be running smoothly, I wonder if it was a firmware issue. Thoughts?
Right, I have the same bloody problem, and I'm seriously thinking of going back to kit kat. What the hell happened, it worked perfectly. Does everybody have an unlocked bootloader? COS12 worked ok, lagged when hot, only after I unlocked the bootloader did it all go to ****. I just hope it'll go back to normal on KK and it isn't a permanent thing now..

I have an unlocked bootloader and have moved from 11S to 12S and find its a lot better. I've seen people say they find the update better and some who have issues but your boot loader shouldnt really come into it. How did you update, what did you do since unlocking your bootloader?

Went with COS12 for a while, then tried a 5.1 rom and it started going down from there. COS12 lagged a lot when the phone was charging, it got very hot for a while, and then cooled down. I don't know why touchscreen issues started happening, it worked ok for some time after installing 5.1, then for instance the settings app started scrolling slowly, the notification panel as well, some touches stopped being registered.. It's a weird issue, because it's not lagging, like skipping or so, but mostly it feels like the phone is in slow motion.

Same happens to mine.
I flashed 3 different ROMs today, 5.1 and 5.0, it was working fine for a few hours with one of them but after that It started with serious problems, to the point of nearly not registering any touch. After a reboot it improved a bit but it makes the phone unusable. I'm flying abroad in less than 12hrs and really need the phone.
Flashing a stock ROM or going to kit kat are the only options I see now.
Edit: Here I found some useful post, they state it's hardware not software.

we're not alone man, multiple threads are popping up with people suffering from similar issues, including on reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/oneplus/comments/33ky0u/open_post_to_oneplus_with_all_our_love_and/
I am having the same severe issues as well.
The nightmare begun after the 05Q update.
Ever since that update, no matter what I've tried, the touch problem is here.
I've tried numerous Roms + kernels combinations with no use.
OP support was trying twice to reset my phone to full factory reset to both Oxygen & CM11s with no use.
That is so frustrating.
i have the same problem, but only when i go outside and the weather is nice
Anyone gotten this? On international model, can't post pictures from xda app, odd
I've updated today but nothing noticeable, just seccurity patches.
Has the lockscreen password bug been fixed ?
for my device, yes.!
i didn't get any re-asking for the key password after first boot.
before version was make me crazy every first use the camera, it drops me to home screen and asks for key password just like on first boot.
this version. no problem. but very high battery drain accours. i can't fix it.
only 3 hours battery life.
any ideas.?

You know my way to solve it, since weeks not a single reboot. Got the OTA, just bugfixes, but seems to clean up the phone and making it a bit snappier.
Give it a try (full rom over KIES), it worked for me. :good:

I have a lot of customisations that I don't want to have to go through again....
Is it only me or something common? (P7P)
I haven't had any, and my wife hasn't said anything about this happening with hers, either. We've had ours for two weeks today. I'm rooted, hers is with the bootloader still locked.
Have not had a random restart since I got the phone.
Alright, possibly one of the root modules is causing some problems. thanks for the info.
Rooted, no restarts.
I have been experiencing them regularly... Usually right after i try and make a call ...
This is the first time i ever saw something like this.... Does not inspire confidence!

Factory reset and use the phone with little to nothing installed and see if it still happens. If it does try a sim from another provider. If you still get them you have a faulty handset so RMA it.
I haven't experienced it with the Pixel 7 Pro but it happened sometimes with the 6 Pro.
Got one restarts just after freeze for 30 second twice. Rooted kirasakura kernel and despair both happen once
Hasn't happened once in the two weeks I've had it.
Well this is absolutely rediculous.. HORRIBLE support... Google Support wanted me to run the phone in SAFE MODE for a "a few days" to make sure it wasn'ty a third poarty app causing the reboots.. and if it still happens i will have to run around trying to find a service center to "look at the phone" eff that... Take itr back and i will go back to OnePlus or Samsung..... HORRIBLE first experience with a Pixel ... ABHORRENT
I still have one Day on my 14 day return window so i am returning the sucker and getting my money back.. I am not paying 1500$ CAD for a phone that randomly reboots when i try to initiate a call...
I had 1 random reboot during a VOIP call. Didn't notice it till my headphones told me they were disconnected, lol.
This was full stock, unlocked and rooted the day after.

How is that horrible support? 90% of the time it is user error. As a few post above mentioned. Wipe phone and try it with minimal apps installed. They want you to run it in Safe Mode for a reason, if still happens send it in or find a service center. I wouldn't call that horrible support.

Bare in mind this is probably thye first phone i have owned since my nokia days back in the early 2000's that is -NOT- rooted , bootloader unlocked or anything of the sort !(Yet)
I have my P7P now since the 13th of October and I had no random reboot during this time. Everything is running smooth and stable. My phone is not rooted.
I've only noticed phone crashes when using Android auto. When I try using apps that change the font and display size, that's when I run into reboots. My phone is rooted with multiple magisk modules

Just a data point: I haven't had any phone crashes when using Android Auto on the Pixel 7 Pro.
More specifically, whenever I change the screen to large screen on an app like Paramount Plus, or some other video viewing app. This is when I get the phone reset
