The design looks like 2 speakers but it's only one in the right, and the left is the mic.

When you turn the phone crosswise, the earpiece turns as a stereo speaker.

Hi guys,
I accidentally got some liquid in the bottom speaker of my mate 9.
The sound is now distorted and muffeld. I tried to clean out the grill and it seems as though I've pierced the protective cover on the speaker grill.
Help please.

[Q] Speaker Question

I noticed today that my music is all coming out of the LEFT speaker on my phone. If I cover it with my hand to type, I can feel it heavily vibrating on my hand and the music gets heavily muffled. I tried covering the RIGHT speaker, and noticed no difference at all to the music volume/quality. Is this normal? What is the RIGHT speaker used for?

This is totally normal, the left speaker is the actual speaker while the right is a dummy that i believe houses the microphone.

Nexus 5 speaker lint, or mono sound?!

Hey folks, I was messing with my phone today and inadvertently covered up the left speaker on the bottom which reduced the volume by 90%. I covered the bottom right speaker, no appreciable change.
It looks like the right speaker is full of lint! Any pointers on how to get that out of there? Maybe I should pull the case open rather than jamming needles in there?
Then I was reading this article
http://www.forbes.com/sites/gordonkelly/2014/01/29/nexus-5-review-the-long-term-owners-test/
And it said the Nexus 5 has a mono speaker. Waaaaaiit a second. There are clearly two speaker grills in the bottom. Doesn't that mean stereo sound? I thought I had a lint problem, and now perhaps they're just fake holes?

Nope, just one speaker. The second grill is only for aesthetics. Sucks, I know.
Ghetto!

This thread made me laugh LOL. But on a serious note yes the right grill is a microphone. It's the phones main microphone for say when in a phone call or recording video that's what it uses.
Yes it's funny. There are a million threads about this, yet no one uses search before posting.

Z3 top speaker metal

Can you please quickly look at the top ear piece and tell me if you can see some flat metal thing partially under the speaker grill mesh? is that normal?
thanks

well I haven't ripped one if these apart yet but my guess is that they had to suspend the speakers in their own little chamber in order for the acoustics to work with the waterproofing. I think that metal thing is the speaker itself.
I have gone through 4 Z3s for one reason or another and all had the same appearing top speakers so I'm guessing it's normal.
I can see the same with mine so I'm guessing it is normal for these devices

I have replaced 3 Z3s (Cosmetic defects) on my 4th, I can say its normal it's on every one I have seen.
Same here on my Z3.

K1 Speaker may be faulty

Just wanted to ask if anyone who has the K1 about their speakers
I feel on my unit the sound coming out of the top speaker is louder than the bottom speaker is that normal? for example at max volume I can feel the vibration of the sound from the top speaker but not the bottom.
Also I can make the bottom speaker frame click by pressing on it like the plastic is slightly separating (This in particular is concerning) but I wanted to see if it was a manufacturing thing I cba RMA'ing for a replacement just for that to have the same issue.
It happens when you press on the top of the bottom speaker with your thumb kinda like jiggling a tooth you'll hear it and feel it move.

speaker are ok for me..
About the clicking it depends..
On mine it's not the speaker that move but a little click came from the rear tablet panel...but it's definitively not faulty...only normal plastic assembly

I've got the clicking when pressing around speaker grills on both top and bottom edges. Not sure what to think about it but I don't like it. Might return it and keep the Dell 7840.

Doubut about speakers repair

Hi,
This xperia have 2 speakers, one in the top and one in the bottom, they are the same? Because I changed them but they have the same size and I'm not sure if I putted them in the right position. How I can know if the speakers are in the right place? Like how I know what speaker is for the top
PD: the speakers work but the sound of the videos and music are a bit low
Yes, both the speakers are the same. Just that top speaker is more loud and the bottom one isn't that loud as the top one. That's because the bottom speaker is fitted inside the antenna module and to see that it's waterproof the bottom speaker isn't as exposed than the top one. :fingers-crossed:
