rooting, will I lose OTA Updates? - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

Hi Guys, just a quick question... if I root my Stock Marshmallow rom, will I lose OTA updates from Samsung even though the rom is still Stock?
Thanks guys.

Yes, knox will be tripped and no more updates, you'll have to flash the newer firmware manually.

Keep in mind, that if you determine that rooting / installing custom roms is a good option for you many custom roms offer OTA abilities. It's not as straight forward as stock OTA's however if you've determined root / custom roms are for you, you probably have decided simplicity and comfort come after the beneifits of customization & modification.

question about rooting and ota updates

im on my stock rom and stock everything just rooted... i do have clockwork recovery though. question is does this prevent me from getting ota updates or not? i have read various things saying that if you have a custom recovery installed it will prevent the install of the ota update but you still get the file ota.... Also, if it does work to install an ota update will i lose root? thanks
Its always recommended not to flash an OTA over a rooted ROM as it can bugger things up
you are able to receive the OTA, but it is strongly recomended not to
thanks guys , anyone know when 2.3.4 will be released for US version???

I highly doubt anyone does. We don't even know the date of the maintenance updates yet.

About OTA updates now that root has been released.

Hey all,
I immediately blocked any OTA updates since I got my G4 in anticipation for root.
I have three questions
Do the AT&T OTA updates have that anti-rollback feature? I didn't see it confirmed in the thread regarding the anti-rollback but I'm not sure if the info is current.
Is the latest OTA for AT&T the 10g version? Should I enable OTA on my LG G4 now to get it prior to rooting?
Thanks.
So far as i know..no anti-rollback features..
As stated of some members here, latest ota updates doesn't affect rooting...for now

10g is the latest as of yesterday (before I rooted and blocked OTA). If you absolutely can't wait for root, then unfreeze the update apps and get the 10g OTA. If you're on 10e, there's a strong likelihood that you will softbrick your phone if you try to flash the rooted system.img (at least a couple people already did). If you can wait a couple of weeks, just hang tight and wait for codefire to release their one-click unroot since we still don't know about rolling back the bootloader or future unlockability of the 10g bootloader.
I'm on 10g and rooted. I have no intention of running a non stock rom on this device, so blocking updated with Tit back up now, removing bloat and coasting with what I've Got till we find out about a method for custom recoverys yet.
Could someone link me to the thread on how to disable the OTA function? I remember seeing it, but can't find it.

Can you or someone else please list the app(s) that need to be frozen in order to block updates? Thanks in advance.

Should I really update my S6 ?

Should I really update my S6 (actually on 5.0.1 ) to 5.1? If yes, I want to know if I can still root it? What is the new features? What about battery life?
How can I update without losing data / application and keeping the apps order etc.. ?
PS: Can I have xPosed on 5.1?
How can you ask so stupid question?
Of course, less bugs, glitches, more features
and ye you can root, install xposed and keep apps if you install via ota
-.-

Its not a stupid question - for one a changelog would be helpful. Lastly, its not unheard of for an upgrade to introduce bugs/glitches that are worse than those in the previous firmware.

I'm not saying that it does have more issues, I'm saying that it is possible and that it is also possible that Touchwiz has issues with 5.1.1 that are not present with 5.0.1. The only way to find out whether that is true is to try the update for yourself or to ask someone who has updated.

Do the MM update by downloading from Sammobile.
Don't screw around with OTA updates. . . . too much chance of an error.

It seems your phone is a little different due to the bootloader.
I did find this though:

Do a little research on the web and on this board.
You'll probably find some good answers.

Install Android Pie (One UI) on my phone

Hello
I have a somewhat strange question, is it any way to install/flash rom or update my phone to android Pie whiteout Root my device and whiteout void the warranty?
I am asking because i want to keep the warranty and i am not the best at this TWRP flashes stuff.
Thanks.
Flashing unsigned software like TWRP or a custom ROM will good the warranty as far as I know.
Not possible as there is not and probably never will be an official Pie Version for the S7. I'm hearing a lot of talk about a One UI Rom recently, where can that be found?

Not as far as I know.
Starting with the note 2, flashing non-Samsung files would change the Knox indicator to let Samsung know that the phone had been flashed with unsigned files.
