The king has been dethroned finally. After Lenovo take up, the company's poor design choices on G4 and G4 Plus. Sad, looks like this will be my last Moto phone

I came from the Xperia Z3, while it's great device, you don't want to unlock the bootloader on that thing. Camera quality goes down the drain and there's not a single fully working custom ROM.

There are plenty. Like our G4 Plus for example, custom ROMs have equal camera quality with stock. Now take a look at the Xperia Z3's camera sample before and after bootloader unlock on the stock ROM.

As someone who flashed CM on my G4, the camera quality deteriorates notably. Much, much more noise.

Im not sure I agree. I think our stock ROM (MM especially) has the best cam quality.
I've tried every custom ROM from the first Slim 6 to RR Nougat and CyanMod 14.1
Nothing has quality that of stock. The devs themselves agree to that bit. I think a lot of it lies in the software processing which seems superior in stock.
And ya the Z3 before/after images is a terror [emoji14]

The point I was trying to make is after Lenovo acquisition, the pace at which Moto operates has gone down drastically. When a custom ROM maker can push updates fast why can't being close to stock experience out do them.
You know a was starting to like moto last year's model was kickass but its a damn shame to say that lenovo s outake and poor decision making that's put me off am out done with moto damn shame.

I also agree on this, last year I bought an Xperia T3, which was born and died with android 4.4.4... so I change back to moto.... but I don't like what Lenovo has made of it
and also competitive prices are very high for sony . main reason for setbacks

Yeah pretty much, since they released their second beta of Nougat for their newest device.
Its embarassing that the Android fragmentation wont get better but worse in 2017 and the OEM were not capable of pushing the monthly Android security Updates to their devices as it was intended at least by their customers ?

I've always been an iPhone user (iPhone 5S 32GB)... but been using the Moto G for a few months as my 2nd (for work) phone.. and it's a bit weird using android as my primary phone now since my beloved iPhone was stolen from me!!
anyway, and since this is my only phone now, I'll be using it until I make up my mind between the Note 4 and 2 or 3 other top notch phablets... yeah I think I'm leaving the bitten Apple for good, and for many reasons..
my question is:
When will the moto G get this LP update.?! why not release it to all android phones at once?!
phone model and other info attached, also attached is something weird I noticed...
why does this phone have 2 IMEI s ?

I have a better question. Why don't you try to read in google and the other 100 posts with questions about LP update? Also about updating all phones at once. Did you even noticed that all android phones comes from different makers? Is their call to update or not their phones

Hi... Do you read the package of the phones you buy man? You have a dual SIM Moto G, thats why you see two IMEIs there.
And there is no news about official L yet. And they dont release at once because it takes time to develop Android, so the dev teams from Moto work to release the update in batches. All you have to do is wait.

Hi guys,
its been a few weeks since I posted this. Happy New Year y'all
any updates on when is it gonna be released?
Finally!! yesterday morning I upgraded my Moto G to Lollipop 5.0.2 and WOW it looks nicer and feels smoother
Just announced at CES 2015 that the G Flex 2 is confirmed to be getting Android 6.0 AKA Marshmallow! Here is a link:
http://www.slashgear.com/android-marshmallow-update-coming-to-lg-g4-g3-not-g2-27399720/
So the phone is definitely not dead, surprised that the G3 might not get the update, for those who was debating between these two phones.
Well, low popularity doesn't mean dead. It's barely half a year old anyway. Great news indeed though.

Well these are great news !
I just got the H959 TWN version. I think I love it more than my G4 H815 except the Camera.
Flex 2 is so much more snappier than G4 and surprising not as hot the G4. The Curve and the RED back cover is nice. I don't really miss the leather back. Now I have 2 devices to play with. Best of the Best LG .......Life's Good!
Ya, I made a post a few days ago about it getting gooey goodness. This phone is a beast. I love it.
Of course this phone is going to get it. It's still new and just came out this year if there was folks thinking the opposite then idk what to say. Now the big question is when do you think this device is planning on getting 6.0? That's the big question, so far I've been running Android M on my nexus 6 for some time and it is great very nice update and I'm guessing it will roll out and be official around October or somewhere around there so I'm curious to know how long from there will it take the flex 2bto get it.
Good news will be when I find this fcking phone on ebay <270$ :'(
Anyway its good, but lock bootloader deprives custom ROMs.
Indeed good news! Some of us that called the phone "dead " we meant the lack of custom roms and in general the lg,s decision of not unlocking bootloader.
Even with m it will be also dead from developers perspective.

Not feeling too comfortable and confident with the list. G flex? That never got Lollipop. And how easily it was forgotten, I wouldn't be surprised if G Flex 2 is also forgotten.
Kind if crazy how the list is so short. LG needs to unlock their bootloaders really. I don't see how it G4 flagship can keep the publics interest at all. Eeesh.

As I know on LG G4 international you can unlock bootloader, but not for the other versions.
So now I'm with G2 and it doesn't get android 6. I hope I will find G Flex 2 for the good price.

I can not get 6.0 if they will unlock bootloader in 5.1.1. There is lot of bad things on stock rom. Small difference between max and min display light, alarm volume and lot of more mistakes!
Hope this is true. Maybe by then we will have an unlocked bootloader figured out

The high minimum brightness is there for reason. Lower brightness = more grainy display.
I doubt LG will fix that in some update. You can use app called Darker - works great but picture gets more grainy..
Grainy display and no manual camera are my main issues with this phone.
Hope our flex2 will get the updata~

Doubt it
Lg is unpredictable..... Lol
All i want is my unlocked blootloader, 6.0 will be cool, but all i can pray for is that Lg blesses us with a unlocked bootloader.
It's their fastest phone, but the chance of M is probably 20/80. Chance of an unlocked bootloader, 5/95. I'm curious about a stagefright 2.0 patch.

The article mentioned that the LG Flex may not get Marshmallow, the LG G Flex2 will get Marshmallow, no doubt about that.

Do you have an LG source for your certainty that the Flex 2 will get M? LG has a pretty poor track record -- the first gen Flex never got Lollipop.

I hope you're wrong about 20/80 for Marshmallow. The phone is only ~6 months old and abandonment by LG would be a pretty miserable business decision. As far as unlocking bootloader, we'll more likely get that unofficially as a result of developer effort (highly unlikely without some LG tech leak) but overall the odds are probably even worse than 5%, especially for those of us with AT&T model.
If there will not be a 6.0 update for this device, i'm gonna buy a freaking iphone and never look back on android ... srsly, i'd be done with it and its fragmentation bs forever. Vendorlock me to apple crap.

Intuitively, logically, and reasonably we should expect Marshmallow and the rumors floating around on the android sites are a good sign, but personally I won't bank on it until LG puts out something official. The original Flex was release only 9 weeks earlier than the Flex 2 the prior year (Oct 27 2013 versus Jan 5 2015) and the first Flex never saw Lollipop.

The Flex and G2 had the same SoC, yet LG abandons it with no apology to users. I can't even find a reason for why they'd abandon a phone with those specs while it still had KitKat. Heck. I don't even understand why KitKat never came to the ATT LG Optimus G despite having the S4 Pro.

I see where you are coming from here, but I think that the flex 2 is much better and more popular than the original flex. I don't fully understand why the deep price cut, but it will dramatically increase sales no doubt.
Sidebar: Thanks again to help me confirm I had bad sensors. I sent the phone to LG for repair under warranty and they replaced the entire screen. When I got the phone back it was updated to 5.1.1, so now I don't have to worry about trying to coerce an OTA (sweet!). Battery life is stellar so far and no heat issues. Marshmallow would be a real treat (pun intended) on this phone, so I will stay hopeful that we'll get it (eventually)
Anyway if LG doesn't keep his word, I won't buy his device anymore
6.0
LG Flex 2 IS getting Marshmallow, U can bet your S'mores on it.

Guys. And gals? I am needing to snag an upgrade. I have note 4 ...The real reason is to get my bill down with the new pricing on easy pay. But on 16th they will go up 10 bucks. So ive been searching hard. 810 rumors are rampid. Id rather ask you users. Has the throttling stopped since the updates? Was this really the korean model? Or? How does the screen look compared to note 4? I ask because i love amoled. I also like the fact the flex is not seen much in the hand around my parts,of town. Lol. I see development is lacking. Guess no loki? Wonder why sprint would sell the flex 2 with locked bootloader? Oh well. 5.1.1 and up should fix all the lag. Please if you feel you might have some front facts on all this i hope u would give me all your opinions based on ownership. Thanks.

hi,
i am very much liking my MotoG2015 as its doing fine despite of facing so many RAINS
if at all, i want to change my phone.. i would never buy a phone without IPXX ratings , i want a phone which can be used even in rain
if Moto has launched any G4 series with it, i would have bought them.. but sadly they lost me this year
... so expecting that they do for g5 , else i should have to look at other brands ,
finally, i would choose IPXX rated phones, not others even though if they perform excellent
I am still happy with my rooted stock G3. Although IPXX phones are becoming more common. some of my other favorite features are hard to come by such as FM radio and a 5" screen. It seems most new phones are becoming increasing large.

Guys, I'm considering buying this phone after almost 2 years with Mot X 2014. My question is "how xda friendly is Moto X 2015?" Unlocking bootloader and flashing ROMs on Moto X 2014 was piece of a cake.
I'm on custom Android 7 based ROM now, performance is great and the only issue for me is storage. 16 Gb isn't sufficient.
Manually flashing custom Oreo ROM eventually on Moto X 2015 would be something I expect to do later next year... if I decide to buy it.
Muito Xt1575 not arrieved the 7.0 yet, the 8 only in dreams.
Android 8 custom roms is real future for moto pure ?

Nougat is still a little buggy for this device. Have no idea if it ever gets unofficial Oreo. Also, it's just a little old. Don't get me wrong, I'm using this phone, but if you want to buy another device, choose different model... from different company.

Manually flashing custom Oreo ROM eventually on Moto X 2015 would be something I expect to do later next year... if I decide to buy it.

Unlocking the bootloader and flashing AICP nougat 7.1.2 was a piece of cake on my MXP, it supports unlocking the bootloader out of the box.

Honestly... Don't bother with a 2 year old device. If you like Moto, go Moto G5 Plus or G5S Plus, 3-4 times the battery life, equal performance, support for probably the next 18 months or so, etc. Or if your budget allows, go with something better, there are lots of options.
I would not buy another Pure, even if I could get a new one for under $100.

Yes, it's all about budget. I can't see right now things I need in a phone for 200 euro:
- nearly stock android
- amoled screen
- SD card support
- and I hate what Lenovo creates now under Moto logo.
Looks like I will need to resign myself to some the points above

Guys, thanks for the comments!

Well there's the Lenovo P2. LOL But it's hard to find phones with AMOLED screens at that price point. I was gonna say just go with the Mi A1 (LCD) when it comes down in price later this year because it's the best stock Android bargain you'll find. Why do you want OLED so bad anyway? The Moto X Style isn't OLED, but it's screen and colours are highly saturated, even for me. I think this is something most IPS panels can accomplish with the right settings. I have to say, though, the Moto's screen is really good for an IPS panel.

I was actually considering Mi A1 as a great option.
I love how OLED works with ambient display on my device. Experience of receiving notifications and unlocking the screen is addictive. When I see how my wife clicks power button each time on her Huawei P9, it looks like something from the past century
