Is there any way to receive in the notification app also the photos when whatsapp arive?
I succeeded geting images for several times but most of the time i am only get a message that a photo is attached without the ability to watch it.
Any ideas?

Same here, sometimes the photo is viewable but most of the time it just shows a photo attachment.

Hey,
After a few tests I think that i found the issue.
It seems that only PNG files are able to show up in a notification of whatsapp on the Gear S3.
Yust had contact with Samsung to report this.

I received a text/picture via hangouts which I opened to expand. Then someone else sent three pictures in the same conversation converting the message to mms however when I click on any of the second set of pictures it opens briefly and then the first message picture takes over. The only solution I found was to delete the original picture so that I can open any other picture. Is anyone else seeing that issue?
YES! I have the same problem! I do not want to delete the first picture. Hangout is broken for MMS! Yet after the last update.
How many people still use hangouts? A lot of the free sms/mms apps do everything better and more efficiently
yea is a mms bug. annoying one at that. i side loaded the original 4.3 sms just so i can view and save MMS slideshows. Google is apparently working on it. fastest send/receiving mms app i ever used tho.

i tired your way, but deleting the first pic deletes the whole set for me.

What app do you recommend? I've been reluctant to try anything else because as much as this bug annoys me, hangouts does a pretty good job at what I need it to do.
I use Hello. Beautifully minimal but not for everyone.

Not from what I have read about it so far. I believe it has the same notification system as the original gear, which means I am just hoping it will give me my work Outlook emails on the watch, which stopped working after the latest update
I was able to recieve pics via MMS, unable to send any at the moment. Share button is shaded out.
As for emails. Still havent been notified through the watch and cant send anything as of today.
Update: (Some) emails come through but only text shows up. Still can't send or forward.

I have received emails with pictures/images and the pictures have not come through on my Gear Neo
When I get pic messages...they show up on my gear 2

Not yet to my knowledge but I'll see if there is anything that can be added to the coding to allow for contact pictures. Knowing how samsung is about this they probably have this hard wired in the watch to not be able to be modded.

Thanks. It will be good if that is possible. Other smart watches show contact pictures in whole screen when receiving calls
Some contacts has pictures, some doesn't ... Why?
a full uninstall and reinstall of gear manager and reset of the watch fixes this. I know its not what you want to hear but i just did it and it works

Mine now is showing pictures of the contacts that have pictures when I get a call... I have it paired with my LG G3.

My Gear 2 sometimes displays the pictures and sometimes not for the same contacts. Issue is still present after re-installing gear manager and resetting the watch. Anybody else is seeing this?

Today, 16 jan 15, I resetted my Gear 2 from recovery and uninstalled/installed Samsung Gear-app on my Gear 2.
Contact pictures are shown again!
I have performed two full S% and Gear 2 resets recently and still no contact pictures.

I don't use Whatsapp... and I actually dispute some of the info in that article (Hangouts works just as good as FB Messenger and Whatsapp from what I understand)... but I think I can clear up the confusion.
On the Gear S2 there is no Whatsapp app available to download and use. However, when you get a notification for Whatsapp on your watch you can still view the message in your notifications window and reply to the message with an emoji, a dictated reply, or a typed out message.
What it comes down to ultimately meaning, you can reply to messages, you can not initiate them.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, as I've said before, I do not use Whatsapp.

For me it never shows, but the person pic profile sometimes shows, others don't

I noticed the same thing on my gear S2, wherein the images show up sometimes but not always.. the same for the person's display picture as well..
Any fix to this??
There's a problem with the WhatsApp notifications, it only shows the last message for each person, instead of each and every message.

One can get WhatsApp notifications and even reply from Gear S2 but not start a session from Gear S2 or any gear at all. There is no app like the messenger app.
When I receive a WhatsApp message, I can see the message and read it,
but I cant reply to it vwith the Gear S2, it only shows me the option "open on phone"

It is not a bug. Even witch Samsung phone it is not straightforward.
Look at the app Chat Hub, it does allow you to answer WhatsApp and other social services. It is not free though...

So the only way to get it work without a Samsung Smartphone is to download that App?
The most recent Whatsapp update did something to gear s2. Now I don't see the "read more" icon. Sigh..
That's more than Handcent will do. If I get a message in handcent, the watch just displays a message to check phone. Doesn't show the message, or who its from or give us a way to reply to it. I've written to handcent and they have completely ignored me. I have since quit using handcent and went back to the stock messaging app.
