H830 Issues after 20A - T-Mobile LG G5 Questions & Answers

So just recently upgraded to Nougat on the H830 V20A.
Issues started happening right off the bat.
First of all I did an OTA update and not through LG Bridge.
One of the issues is Video Calling.
Its grayed out. Yes, I checked if VoLTE was on. I also noticed that in Settings/General/Apps (Show System) that the [Disable/Enable] button was also grayed out and non "clickable"
Should I reflash the 20A update through LG Bridge? Or should I Factory Data Reset?
Other issues are .. I cant download.pdf files sent from emails using gmail.
Not a big deal but its still annoying.
And Nougat emojis are really not to my liking.
Im not able to root this phone..not because I cant its just that I cant..
Any suggestions?? TIA

I don't have those issues. Try LG if factory reset doesn't work.

[Q] KitKat Update Issues

The OTA update showed up this morning. I chose to delay it because I was going to need my phone. Went to update it later and it just would not download. Did a factory reset and now when I go to system updates it says "checking for available update." for about a minute then says "check for update is not available at this time. Try again later." What am I missing here?

there have been quite a few people with this same issue. i havent seen any direct fix.
if you are locked, i would suggest you wait it out, or wait for the sbf file to get leaked. there is a way to sideload it, but its risky being locked and no sbf to save you if a problem comes up.
if you are unlocked, there are directions in the General forum to sideload the ota. there is no risk if you are unlocked.
if you are locked, the only thing i would suggest to try is re-flashing the stock 9.30.1 with rsd and see if it will pull the update afterwards. there is no guarantee this will work, but your phone will be 100% clean stock after the flash and give you the best chance to grab the ota if available.

Did you download it and then said to apply it later? If so, are you rooted? If so, hook up your phone to your PC and adb shell into it. Type "su" and hit enter to go into superuser mode.
Navigate to the /cache directory and you should see the OTA .zip file sitting in there. Copy it to your external SD card and then you can load it manually via the recovery.
If you're not rooted, then you won't be able to navigate into the /cache directory. Or, if you didn't have it download when you got the notice (or couldn't download it), then it won't be there.
More update issues
My wife & son both have the HD. My wife checked for the update this morning, said it was ready and proceeded to download. Update did as it was supposed to and when it was done, she had KitKat and that's when things went a bit wonky.
If she has Bluetooth turned on, WiFi connection drops after a few minutes. She googled possible workarounds and none really worked. As long as she is not using BT, WiFi stays up
Has anyone else seen this behavior? She refuses to let me root it and install a custom ROM as I have done on my Samsung GS4 from VZW.
In the mean time, we've told our son not to take the update until
we know more about a possible fix.

Android V 4.1.2 worked flawlessly since Nov 1023 upgrade. Decided to upgrade to KitKat via OTH. Had WIFI connection issues right away ( inability to obtain IP or lost connection, etc.) This happened with Bluetooth ON or OFF, no difference. The Signal strength was much lower than when on the previous android version and subsequent indicated connection speed was at least 1/2 of what I was getting previously.
Worked with Verizon and Motorola tech support personnel and did multiple factory resets with no improvement.
Since I wanted a factory solution and had insurance on the phone, I ordered a replacement phone. Thankfully, the new phone had 4.1.2 and worked perfectly. WIFI issues are gone.
Conclusion, KitKat is not ready for prime time yet. WIFI bug needs to be worked out before I will upgrade again.

That's a shame because for me, the FDR fixed the Wifi/Blue-tooth issue as it did for many others. Might have been a hardware issue (faulty radio, etc).

restored to stock (4.4.2) but phone wont see 5.0.1 update

I had to restore back to stock because I messed something up and it went fine, but it says server unavailable when trying to get the OTA for lollipop. Anything I am missing?
tried with att sim, data only, wifi connected...tried factory resetting again.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
Same here. Right in the middle of resetting so I can start on a new ROM/Kernel based on stock 21q w/21q kernel sources too. I just got done bugging LG for them to release updated source for the AT&T D850 and they finally did a few days ago.
Could mean a new update is coming, or more likely someone at AT&T pushed the wrong button and no one knows about it yet. lol
(edit: update server back online, it was down for several other devices I tried also.)

[H955 6.0] Camera stopped working - Possible to Downgrade 5.1.1 / Reflash 6.0?

Hi,
i flashed the 20a version with lgup - everything worked fine so far but all of a sudden my rearcamera stopped working.
now i want to check if its something software related (20a is not a real final sofware) or hardware damage..
"reflash" with 20a and upgrade in lgup doesnt fix it.
is it possibe to get this phone back to stock firmware justin case i have to send it back to the seller or to see if it will work with stock firmware?
or are there any other ideas what to do?
thanks in advance
And my phone is in same situation
I'd start with a reflash and then downgrade if it doesn't resolve the issue.
Ouch.
It doesnt, Camera still Broken :/ But thx

Bluetooth inactive after B399 update ?!?!!

Hi,
I have a really annoying problem.
I updated my honor 8 to B399, and I can't activate bluetooth, the switch move, but stay gray.
I tried multiple factory reset, dload update... I also used the unbrick section of "huawey multitool".
I'm not really sure if I had performed a real complete system reset, this way.
But I still can't activate bluetooth...
Is someone having the same problem?
A way to fix it...
Thanks a lot.
Ok, I finally managed to downgrade to android 6 emui 4, B131, and the bluetooth is working again!!!
I followed this guide :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/how-to/problem-frd-l09-t3596449
Now I will try to apply the OTA B394, automaticly proposed by the system, and maybe after that, the B399...
I'll update the thread...
B394 seems to work well, bluetooth still working...
Bluetooth is already active on startup...before that when I was on B394, I had to reactivate it after restart... Not really important, but I prefer.
Now I Have a OTA B398 available.... Maybe a B399 will be available after this one...
B398 OK, bluetooth ok, no more OTA B399 available...
Next step , unlock Bootloader, TWRP, Root, Magisk etc...
Hope everything will work well.
@Rommco05 Thanks for help
I have issues with Bluetooth also on 399 it works but doesn't auto connect once disconnect, think I'll downgrade and do the official update.

I unlocked my Bootloader, flashed TWRP, Root, Magisk...
Everything seems to work well, I'm restoring my apps, sms, calls etc with hisuite. I think I will stay with the B398...
Well I've reset mine done 3 updates this morning but no sign of 398 for mine, stopped on 394.

Is my Verizon V50 broken?

I have a two year old V50, that was bought new in the box. Has been working great except for the fast few weeks - post Android 12 update.
1. Phone lags like it has an app that is frozen.
2. Sluggish to open apps like the camera.
3. Safe mode does not work
4. AOD display get shifted on the screen.
These are all intermeittent problems and Verizon has offered to replace the phone under a warranty. Curious to hear thoughts if you think this really is a phone issue or something else. I did a factory reset after the Android 12 update, didn't seem to make a difference.
Thx.
why not just flash back A11 with LGup? before u do that though, could you do me a hugh favor? go into EDL mode and backup modem_a and modem_b partitions for me please. Reason being A12 Kdz doesn't exist, only way to get A12 on Verizon is OTA, as I have a 450vm but with EU 40b A12 (which works great BTW) but I don't have the lastest A12 modem for it...
LG rom has now Verizon A12 KDZ uploaded, so I don't need the dumps for the modem partitions anymore! thx anyway
u can still however use LGup to downgrade to A11 in PM as I've suggested.
