Just wondering any new radio loads i can do to get better reception
by far this lg h990 man i miss so many calls, and people tell me they call me and i do not answer, what the hell it seems the reception and antenna is really the worst among all my phones I ever owned
You are alone there buddy, its either a faulty device or bad carrier. I havent had a single missed call with the V20 - or with any other device for that matter.

Anyone else notice poorer reception in their Verizon TP2 versus a regular TP or Touch? The Imagio/Diamond 2 is out on the 6th and am thinking of making the switch or swapping out my TP2 depending on other people's experience.
In particular the lunch and conference rooms at my office always had poor reception but I still always got calls on my previous Touches but this one I actually miss calls. So I am comparing apples to apples in a very repeatable test area and the TP2 appears worse.
I've read of several peeps reporting this issue, but fortunatly for me my tp2 is very good RF wise and most every other which way as well. Lovin' it.
I am trying to ignore it and hoping a radio flash (when HardSPL gets done) will help but my VZW TP2 is borderline for being able to complain about the radio. My wife is a long term user of VZW and I in the past. What I have noticed is that on the North side of my house I have dropped a few calls in the last week that I have owned the device (my wife NEVER drops calls with her VZW phone and I only dropped once in a blue moon with ATT).
So network or phone ?? I think it actually is phone but this borderline behavior has been solved for me in the past by radio upgrade/change with other devices.
After a few more days I have to say I have missed even more calls. I am going to swap it out for another and see what happens.
my sprint TP2 has better reception than my sprint TP
i wonder if we got better transceivers than yall since sprint has all radios.
First, I'd like to point out that I'm aware there are many threads here about this here at XDA alone, but this isn't a typical "phone vs phone" thread, so don't attack me about it being everywhere. I've seen a lot of people do this, but one thing that a lot of people don't ask about (that bothers me because these ARE phones...) is signal strength.
I've owned an Atrix 2 before, but it seemed to have a weak antenna and had relatively bad signal. Now, in my area, I don't really get good signal, BUT I recently flashed the newest Infuse modem to my Infuse and noticed that I had better signal (not good, but better). Thing is, it's making me wonder if my Infuse and Atrix 2 just had a weak antenna or a "weak" modem firmware for lack of a better term. In my room, previously, I could barely use up any data (like go on the market to download apps and use Facebook) and now I have almost no issues doing that whenever I want. CRAZY. One day, my phone's just sitting here racking up a relatively high bill for a phone when all it does for the most part is sit there on my night stand and now I can actually USE it and don't have problems while talking to others on the phone. In fact, I was close to leaving AT&T because of how bad things were, but after flashing this new modem, I'm honestly having second thoughts. You may be thinking, "Why not just buy an amplifier/repeater/micro cell?" Yeah, thing is, I kinda have bad signal almost everywhere I go, both with Atrix 2 AND Infuse - that is, I HAD bad signal with the Infuse until I flashed this new modem. I'd like to get more signal EVERYWHERE I go, not just at home.
On another note, I watched some Infuse vs SGS2 vids on YouTube and noticed that on each one (from different people), the SGS2 has roughly 2-3 bars more than the Infuse. Yes, bars can lie, but given that the SGS2 is a newer phone, you'd figure it'd have newer hardware, including a new antenna which generally means better signal strength.
Tl;dr: Does SGS2 really get better signal or should I just stick with my Infuse? I don't ask this in neither the SGS2 forums nor the Infuse forums because I figured that chances were, I'd get biased answers.
Little recap: I do NOT care about all their specs or anything. I just want to know which one would have better signal strength by default. Even then, I'd root the SGS2 and put in a "better" modem anyway and make that even better, but yeah...
Thanks!
There is no general answer to that question.
You will have to take both phones somewhere, try each one with your sim card and compare reception.
If you're using both 2G and 3G networks the S2 has a small advantage. It uses 850/900/1900/2100 of HSDPA compared to the Infuse's 850/1900/2100. So when you're in an area with only 900 HSDPA frequency you'll have signal if you have the S2 while no coverage if you have the Infuse. If you're always on 2G to save battery and bills then they are just the same, both works on gsm frequencies 850/900/1800/1900. Both have plastic builds so you won't have Signal issues similar to what you'll experience with other phones with metal parts interfering with the Antennae.
Here's a link from gsmarena so you can see for yourself the difference in signal reception. You can also check out their dedicated reviews to see if the reception is good, bad, or whatever. You'll also see the call quality if you're also interested in that.

I hope this helps!
That makes sense. That's the kind of reply I was looking for. Thanks!

Glad to be of help! I hope you don't get dissapointed with your purchase BTW, thanks for the "thanks"!! That was actually my first
I was wanting an opinion, this is signal reception question. Which device has the better signal? I currently have a s4, and thinking of getting the Nexus 5 or possibly LG G2. Which one would likely have the better signal. I read many times that Samsung doesn't have good radios in them, though I don't know about LG
If you want phones with a good signal, avoid nexus devices.
Search the internet about signal issues.I dont think that the G2 had any signal issues, the nexus 5 did though and it was made by LG.
So as far as I know, both of these choices arent good. I am surprised that the S4 has issues, maybe you should compare it with something else, and find out if the problem is not the phone itself. Metal body phones have also weak signal strength.
I have heard the n5 signal was fixed with a recent update.
If I can't get the n5 then may get the g2 if it may have decent radio in it
Go with the G2.

Hard to say with how cheap N5s are / or are going to be soon. I guess I don't leave the city too much, but N5 has been fine.

Yeah I know, I have been told that the N5 signal issue has been fixed with the Lollipop update.
I just wonder how LG's radio stacks up against Samsung
carrier makes bigger difference
Hi
So I recently upgraded to the standard S6, and I've been experiencing very, very bad cellular signal reception. At places I would have good (or sometimes even great) signal with all the LTE phones I've owned throughout the last months (iPhone 5, Xperia Z1, Lumia 920), I'm getting very poor or even no signal at all. Not to mention mobile data basically not working at all.
As far as my research goes, I'm definitely not the only one experiencing issues like this. Even a friend of mine who bought the same S6 on the same carrier with the same contract has experienced similar issues. Though there seem to be a lot of "affected" phones, there isn't really much of a solution available online, so I figured one of you might be able to help.
Would really appreciate any tips and workarounds, or even some more people having issues like that with their S6's.
Cheers!
I've just purchased a Galaxy S6 and it is without doubt the worst phone for reception I have ever owned.
My 4G signal at my home on my old Galaxy S5 was always 3 to 4 bars on my S6 im lucky to get between 1 to 2 bars.
It would help if you told us where you live, what carrier you're with, what model s6 you have, is it carrier branded or international unlocked, have you talked to your carrier's customer service, etc. Without any info it just sounds like Samsung bashing.
I get less bars than with my moto x2014 but I get 4g+ instead of 4g and 4g+ is faaaaassssst
Mine is exactly the same signal bars as every phone i've owned but has much faster data and clearer calls.
I would say you either have a bad phone, bad network, or issues with a mobile mast in the area etc etc.
Comparing to past phones is useless because what worked yesterday might not work today. Intermittent issues anyone?
Mine is currently in repair for poor signal. I doubt they will fix it, I think they designed the S6 antennas extremely poorly.
Forgot to update this thread, sorry. I recently sent it in (ofc covered by warranty), and it is far better now, but still not quite as good as on the other mentioned phones, HSDPA is still pretty slow right now and I rarely get LTE. So if you're facing simmilar problems, even though I always hat to do it, I recommend you send it in to Samsung. Also, consider asking your carrier to give you a newer SIM-card since that could be a reason to from what I've heard.
I live in an area with very spotty reception, my Motorola G5S copes well but I'm after a new phone and finding reviews that particularly look at reception quality isn't easy.
Any thoughts please?
I've recently tried a Samsung Galaxy M31 and a Motorola G8 Plus but both are poorer regarding reception that my old Motorola G5S.
The phone must have GPS, this is essential and is one reason why I'm after a phone that's not too expensive but which can match up to the reception of my old G5S.
you can contact your service prodiver and ask them to build more cell site on your area ...
Or, far simpler, I could buy a phone which has as good a reception as my G5S, hence my initial query.
well you already nullify what you had said " I live in an area with very spotty reception "
blaming it to the phone having poor reception and not your area reception is incorrect way to approach this issue
And yet my G5S copes very well with the spotty reception so my reasoning is that other phones should be able to do the same. If one can manage it then why not other, even newer phones?
