Edit:
==========
With Cyanogen Mod 7, you can choose which Gapp you need when you set up the first Gmail account, as a CM 7 user I no longer update this gapps package.
By the way, the gapps package is only to be used with CM6.

If you have already installed your ROM and have been using it for a while, you may also try this more convenient way to move updated apps from /data/app to /system/app if you have Titanium Backup installed :

or you could manually move the files with Linux commands.. both options, IMHO and no offense whatsoever to the effort put in to these packs, are better than waiting for update zips.. use the market as it was intended

Thanks to Carig for providing the above procedure

By the way. It's easy to make an update package by yourself!
Here are the steps that I used:
1. Download any gapps update pack
2. On your phone, update Google apps
3. Find your updated google apps' APK files in /data/app, copy & paste them onto your SD card
4. (optional) if you Want to immediately apply your update pack after making it, uninstall updates of all your updated Google apps from Market
5. copy updated APKs from your SD card to your computer
6. use any Zip file manager (e.g. 7-zip, a free one), open the old Google apps update package (the zip file)
7. Carefully re-name your downloaded APKs to the names in the update package (e.g. rename com.google.android.gm-1.apk -> Gmail.apk)
8. copy and paste your new APK files into the Zip archive
9. (optional) sign your package, using Zip Signer (freeware on Android Market) or using this tutorial:
http://www.londatiga.net/it/how-to-sign-apk-zip-files/
Thanks man, it's so useful to me everytime I flash a nightly : )
Thanks a lot!
Thanks very useful
thankyou very much
I would love to see a program which can work with exchange Group adress lists. That together with a nice email widget is moving me towards sense all the time.
Good Stuff! Thanks
what abt market?
If it's not already on /data, will this move it?
Prob a stupid question...
What if we already have GApps installed and we don't want to wipe?
Maps 4.7 is out.
Thanks guys, new pack is now up, including updated Maps, soundback and Terminal Emulator, rebased on CM's gapps-hdpi-20101114-signed.zip.
This update package will not automatically remove updates which you already done in Market, but it's easy to remove them. Just go to Market and "uninstall updates" to all your updated system apps.
I'm currently learning how to make update script, I hope I'll implement that feature later.
Thanks for your work, I'll keep an eye on this thread too

I prefer market apps not be duplicated in /system
Facebook 1.4.1
Twitter 1.0.5
Maps 4.6.0 (note that there is a system framework component/jar that needs to remain)
Street View 1.6.0.6
Youtube 2.0.26

Thanks a lot,
Now I'm on holiday so I'll give them a try I'm very new to Android development.
I had few problems with the Terminal Emulator, I can not simply replace AndroTerm.apk with newer version, it will force close if doing a clean installation (flash rom then immediately flash the update package)
I'll look into this problem....
Hey guys
New pack is now up
includes updated Google Voice, Voice Search and YouTube.
thanks, keep this updated
Thanks very much.

ABOUT
One of the biggest things I missed about the TouchWiz gallery was Picasa support.
I'm putting this little guide together basically to save a few headaches. Took me a while to figure out what I needed.
INSTRUCTIONS
Download CyanogenMod 6 Do not download any version of 7! The gesturelistener code is different and makes the gallery crash!
I used the Droid Incredible file HERE
Use Winzip or 7zip to extract the ROM
Go to /system/app and copy Gallery3D.apk to your SDCard
Use your favorite file manager and run the Gallery3D.apk and let it install
Once installed, you'll have 2 gallery apps showing in your app drawer. The new one should be listed second.
When you first run it, you will be asked to give it permission to sync to Picasa!
NOTES
Confirmed working on CyanogenMod 10 Official Nightlies
This should work on any AOSP rom. Let me know if it does/doesn't and I'll update the OP.
All credit goes to the CyanogenMod Team
You can also purchase Gallery Pro for a couple bucks.
Gallery Pro on Google Market
Thanks for the workaround. It works fine. However, if you have more than one google account attached to your phone and want only one of them to sync picasa, the gallery app will ask permission to sync picasa from the other accounts each time you launch the app. A lil bit of an inconvenience but not a major deal breaker. Just throwing this out there.

Allow it to sync to that account, then go to settings -> accounts and uncheck it on the account. It won't ask again.

Hi,
I want to mod Whatsapp on my own without using third party apps such as GBwhatsapp , Whatsapp plus, parallel space apk, appcloner apk...etc. I want to know how they do it.
What i Found
I tried using an android application that clones whatsapp and found there is two methods used:
1. Workspace Method: Parallel Space installs whatsapp in the root folder of the Parallel space application it self without changing in the code or any thing. There is several apps that do the same. ( I am not interested in this method)
2. Apk editing method: Appcloner apk, it clones whatsapp to a different name and allows modification to the app, but on one condition the original whatsapp version must be installed in order to verify the whatsapp number. (This is what i am trying to do manually) but i need to solve the problem where i dont need to install the original app in order to work(gbwhatsapp solved this problem but how?)
What i tried:
A.
I tried decompiling the whatsapp using (apktool, ApkEdit) then signing the app using zipsigner. The app gets installed but the problem is i cant get pass whatsapp verification number it gives an error and returns whatsapp to the first page:
"Something is wrong with your version of whatsapp. Please download the latest version from our website: https://whatsapp.com/android."
This is the error that i face and i want a fix for it.
B.
I used zipsigner on the original whatsapp apk file and signed the apk with new signiture then installed the app. I found that it gave the same error as above.
Conclusion:
Changing whatsapp apk signature prevents you from verifying the whatsapp number.
Can any one provide us with a fix how can we do this and mod our own version of whatsapp. I presume there is something to do with exposed since i found exposed modules in the decompiled folder for the cloned Whatsapp apk by appcloner and the apk gbwhatsapp.
Thanks

Hey community,
hope I'm in the right thread.
I flashed my pixel 6a with lineage 20,0 with root access and Gapps
Sometimes if I open apps who needs Google Service ( because I downloaded it from playstore ) it will be crash.
Other Apps like fdroid who doesn't have connection with google runs stable.
After I delete the Data from Google Play Service the app is running normal.
Do you have same experience?
ps: the Log comes form Logcat Reader, hope it helps, I just start dropbox and it crashed
pps: I upload the log file but it is not uploaded, so I paste the log file on this page:
logcat - Pastes.io
logcat
pastes.io
You probably want to post this in the Lineage thread or whatever support group they have for it, if any.
THREAD CLOSEDAs suggested by ctfrommn, post has been moved to existing Pixel 6a Official LineageOS thread HERE. Thus, this thread is closed.
