Best way to sim unlock sprint s7--- please view/help - Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions and Answers

So I'm receiving this Sprint s7 from my dad for christmas. he didn't know it wouldn't work he already shipped it and i dont know how this would work here in Canada. He won't be able to request unlock it to sprint because he needs to pay it off first or things like that as i red the internet, sprint won't let it and plus, he just bought it last black friday. Is there any possible way to unlock this because it's a cdma and everyone knows it doesn't even use a sim card. I need help on this one, i don't need 4g LTE nor 3g or any other data capabilities. Just the ability to text and call is fine. I was wondering if there would be a firmware available to flash to unlock it, i don't know if there is i can't find one. I would be willing to do that 3rd party control-my-computer using teamviewer option which im very skeptical to do if there would be no other option. It would be the best chrismas gift to help me out lol thank you! Merry Christmas!!!

Unlocking UK G1 (newbie)

Hi all,
Im due to get a G1 from a friend of mine and Im slightly confused/overwhelmed by the threads here on how to unlock the phone..
What is the best way to unlock the phone? Im assuming I cant call 611 as Im in the UK and the phone is a UK phone, or am I wrong?
Is the best approach to go to http://www.unlock-tmobileg1.com ?? or is there a software way of doing it?
I know this is almost certainly posted here, but Im confused/blinded by all the other entries..
Thanks,
Angelo
i'm not too sure about who to call, but apparently t-mobile offer to unlock it for £15 which is better than the £17 offered by that site (i'd much prefer to trust t-mobile too )
you're best bet is to ring up t-mobile and speak to them about it. make up some **** about leaving the country or something, it will probably work
Many thanks
Many thanks, appreciate the clarity
you should be able to tell them you are going over seas and want to put a pre-paid sim in when you get there and for that you require the phone to be unlocked

Make sure whoever buys it for you in the States, activates it and asks Verizon to unlock it! You may have serious trouble unlocking it otherwise! Please review the threads here asap.
Hopefully you got it from retail Verizon store and not from Best Buy or something. If you already got the phone, see if unlock code you can purchase online works. PM me if you want to know sources known to provide working (if you are lucky of course) unlock codes. Depends on your case, online unlock code may or may not work. We do not know yet what is exactly the issue with unlocking, all we know is phones purchased from Best Buy unactivated do not accept unlock codes (If somebody can prove me wrong - please chime in!!). So far confirmed is unlocking works for the very first batch of phones (sold before non-Verizon stores picked up the phone) and for phones which were activated abd used on Verizon network.

SIM Card unlock?

Hey folks, quick question....I have the SG3 through Verizon, Rooted and Bootloader Unlocked. I've heard that the VZW SG3 has a GSM radio in it, and I'm traveling to Germany, Austria, and possibly Greece in December for a few weeks and would like to know if VZW will unlock my SIM card? I've been with them for 4 years, have 5 lines, always in good standing with them. I asked a Rep in one of their larger stores here in Metro Detroit and he said that he believes that VZW will unlock the SIM but he has no date and suggested that I call VZW before I leave and they will send me a "Loaner World Phone". My brother in Europe also told me that if I get it unlocked he'd give me a T-Mobile SIM card (he's a Store manager for T-Mo in Austria), OR is there a hack available? What about those sites that promise to unlock your SIM card by sending you a code for $34.99? I'd love to take my phone with me, especially because of the Camera....I could leave my camera here at home and use my phone to shoot pics, and my brother and sister-in-law have the SG3 on T-Mo, which would be awesome to do quick share of videos and pics we snap. I have no idea what kind of World-Phone loaner they'd give me.....

I'm heading to Germany in a few weeks and have a co-worker that is there right now. I'd like to have her bring me back a pre-paid SIM (I've read that they are much cheaper if purchased there), but I have no idea which carrier would be best for my situation.
While in Europe I'll be in Germany during the week (meetings and such), but plan to travel to Austria, Switzerland and the Netherlands during my weekends. I'd like to be able to send and receive calls to/from German numbers and a small amount of data would be nice for navigation (maybe 250-500MB for the 2.5 weeks that I'll be there.
Any recommendations?

Vzw S3 SIM unlock and new ROM

Hey everyone,
I hope someone can help me out with this problem. Today I moved from our old company carrier AT&T to Verizon and had to replace my GSM unlocked iP 4S. I don't like what Apple is doing at the moment so I went back to Android after couple of years (I had a HTC Desire and a GS2 back in Germany).
I read here on xda that Verizon promised an update to make the S3 global ready but we are still waiting for them to finally release it. First thing I did was putting my German Vodafone SIM in the phone but the lock wouldn't let me use it. I called Verizon Enterprise Support, explained the whole situation and asked them for an unlock code but they claimed the phone won't work in Europe and that's why I wont need a unlock code in the first place. Well I guess I wanted to try the "official" way and now I'm open for more creative approaches to solve this problem - I'm going back to Germany in 10 days and I really want to use this phone.
Is there a way to get an unlock code from Verizon or should I use a 3rd Party website? Is there something I should say or a different number to call? I tried to pull the "Hey we are a big customer and I'm the IT Ops Manager" card but it didn't help. I found a couple of websites that unlock the S3 for 10-20 bucks or so but I don't like the idea of giving someone my IMEI without checking here on xda first.
What happens if I get an unlock code and decide to root the phone and flash CM? Will I keep my unlock or do I have to do the whole process again? I really don't like TouchWiz, the S Apps and all this Verizon Bloat.Hope that someone can help me. Thanks guys.

Just spoke with Verizon Global Services Rep, who was actually really helpful. First off, any 4G phone is "sim-unlocked" by default. I have yet to prove this out, but will tonight, I have a WCDMA pre-paid sim that is still active.
Second, much like previous (major) android releases (GB - ICS last year), the Samsung JB update, should enable global phone capabilities on the Verizon SIII. We should then see the functionality enabled via the various new ROM's (built off OTA release) enabling said functionality.
Third point, which actually makes a lot of sense. He pointed out that many countries now have WCDMA networks as well as GSM, China being the obvious one. Assuming the native unlocked mode is correct, one should be able to purchase as WCDMA pre-paid sim, install and activate on the phone. Verizon Global Services will then set up a call forwarding service that directs all incoming calls to the PP sim number.
He noted that the only global services plans (discounted rates) offered by Verizon at this time are for GSM networks, meaning that even when we get the SW upgrade, roaming and call charges are going to be astronomical. A PP sim is still going to be the best option.
Anyone have any data to counter this??? Will try the sim card tonight and respond back.

Just got a Sprint S5, anyway to unlock it for the GSM ?

I just purchased a Sprint S5, planed to sign up R+.
The S5 already has Android 6.0.1.
Is there a way to unlock the phone for the GSM carriers, such as T-Mobile or AT&T ?
By law, Sprint has to unlock your phone if you request it. You can just call them and ask them to unlock the phone. I think you can also unlock it online without calling Sprint, but their website is down right now so I can't give you specific instructions. Sign into your Sprint account on the web, and next to your phone, there's a drop down menu that (I think) has an option to unlock.
Idoneapps(.com) do hell of job. I'm using ATT, the only catch is I only get 3g. But I don't really care because I have a 3g throttler in use because of my custom ROM. It's around $30 for the app. But it works.

i can also confirm the idoneapps.com method as working. its $35, but it just works. Plus their support forums is backed by a fellow called NoDial and he is johnny on the spot with regards to responding to queries! also, xda member @stifilz can unlock with no preset cost, but donating to him for his time is always a good thing
