Fingerprint module disassembly - Honor 8 Questions & Answers

Hey guys!
Unfortunately, my Honor 8 battery cover broke a few weeks ago. Now I've received my replacement part.
There are a lot of dissassebly-guides around, but none of them shows how to remove this module from the battery cover.
Can anybody tell me how the fingerprint sensor is connected to the battery cover?
According to this picture it seems that it is fixed just by adhesive:
http://www.myfixguide.com/manual/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Huawei-Honor-8-Teardown-10.jpg
So I am not sure how easy it will be to get it out (and in again).
Any guide or ideas on that? Maybe anyone of you already had to deal with it.
Thank you.

If you are not sure yourself, better to bring it to service center.

if u r not sure , dont do it ur self , u might brick something . give to pro of service center .

Thank you for your answers.
Well, I understand your advices, but this is not the first device I repair. I have experience in fixing broken displays, ect.
Anyhow, before I start, I always want to get an insight of what to expect. For honor 8 it seems quite easy to remote or change the battery cover, the only uncertain factor is how to swap the fingerprint sensor, because I've never dealed with something like that before.
So I appreciate any information on getting the fingerprint module from one battery cover to the other. If there are high chances to brick it while removing, I would buy a replacement module beforehand just to be save.
Thanks.

Nexus One dead = spare parts

Hi guys.
Well, i break my n1 while trying to clean the display, following a unmount video found on youtube.
Well, it's not totally break, but i cut a little the flat cable that let work the touchscreen and i break the flat cable that connect the volume regulation button.
So...i have original spare parts to give, if someone need, like display, chassis, battery...and other things.
Display and phone glass is in perfect condition.
No scratch, no dead pixel ( is it correct for amoled display? ) and even zagg shield on the phone is still there ( not on screen, just on the body of the phone ).
I can send high quality pics, if somone of you need particular view of it.
Pics:

Hi.
Well if you can send me an 'how to' for disassembly that part i'll do.
I'm not familiar with internal component of this phone.
Anyway, i'd like to send the entire phone first at all, so the final user will unmount the part that need.
It will be more easy for me.
Or else, just wait that i'll give other 'simple' part of the phone ( display, battery, chassis ) to people that need and after i'll can send easily the remaining part to you.
i can build a queue of the people here that need parts with priority to who will take all the phone.
This is the actual queue:
1- teihoata: display
2- bingoz : power button circuit
How much for the whole set? Does it still have the accessories from the box?
100 Euro?
Im from the Philippines
send me a PM with your price along with shipping
for me it's ok.
i have the full box with everything.
shipping cost amount at 63 euro.ì, with assurance option included ( 5,68 euro ).
you can check also by yourself at this website ( postal service ):
http://www.poste.it/online/paccocelerein/application/privati/index.html
so the total it's 163 euro.
i think it's the cheapest way.

i prefer to sell everything if it's possible.
if tomorrow i will not complete the transaction, i will start to give the spare parts to you all asked already, and we will set a price toghether.
ok?
thanks to everyone.
I'm interested in the battery/chassis if you end up parting out.
I want the aluminum frame ((the lighter gray portion)) if you part it out.
my apologize, but as i wrote before, i prefer to sell it all, i mean entire phone not some parts at time.
i sell it already some days ago.
thanks to everyone anyway.

[Q] Cracked my Screen! Looking for replacement

Hey guys my screen has been broken brutally.. My younger brother just threw it away!
So the touch doesnt work now but i guess everything else is fine. The volume and power buttons work fine. But the tough or the capactive buttons dont respond.
From what i have researched since the touch and the lcd are glued both will have to be replaced together. So i researched and found an estimate of 65$ for a new digitizer + LCD. Now the problem is even if i order the tough and lcd i dont know how to fix it. I saw the ifixit teardown but dont really understand much since there are no detailed steps in it.
I am not going to repair it myself, will repair it from a local repairer but i am pretty sure around here people dont even know what this phone is, so i dont wanna risk directly handing over it to them. If anyone of you all could guide me with a step by step procedure it would be a greattt help! Please help me guys want a good solution for this precious phone!
P.S i dont wanna send it to Oneplus since only the shipping would cost me around 100$ and 100$ more for the screen replacement.
and please dont advice about how i should have taken better care! I had applied a nilkin tempered glass protector but since it hit the wall at the sides it dint really help!
I should have had a case! </3 i was on my way to buy one
Step 1: Open The Back cover
Step 2. Remove the screws
Step 3: ...... please guide me about how to proceed with detaching the screen.
i would b glad to share one of my sharable invites with you if you help me with it or a video would be just paradise! :good:
I
Where do you found LCD + digitizer for only 65$??
The less expansive i've found is on ali and it's around 125$...
I'm interested too as i broke my oneplus as you did... Except it wasn't my little brother who thrown it away, it was only me letting it down to the floor...
I think, about the procedure shown in ifixit, it is doable fixing the broken screen... It just seems to ask proper tools ans patience... And a heat gun... (Or hair dryer!!)
Procedure?

ifixit doesnt show any procedure.. m pretty sure you dont need to go through the first 19 steps before you an finally dettach the screen. As far as i know most of the steps mentioned in the middle are not required. So i want someone to assist me with the required steps.
heat gun? i dont think its needed that would be needed if the digitzer and lcd were seprate. Since thats not the case it should be even easier. Oh yes we need the right tools but i guess a local repairer would have them anyway. i would just want the procedure so i could guide him since he wont know about the procedure, about this specific device
I got the 65$ one from ali express too,
go to the site and search for oneplus one digitizer. There are a list of options. Cant post links!

I don't think that you will find someone who can help you. You will need detailed instructions and images, and I don't think anyone has documented a thorough disassembly yet. You can check on YouTube, it's been a while since I've checked myself. I did disassemble one of my OnePlus One's a few weeks ago because the motor was malfunctioning, but instead of trying to fix it I simply returned it for a refund.
I just need to know how is the screen attached

i dont wanna know all the steps. I just wanna know how is the screen attached. I think it should over all be pretty standard for all phones. So should not be much stress for a local repairer. And from what i have read when the digitizer + lcd are glued it is a very easy job to replace them together. I just want to be sure from my side that say the screen needs to be attached the same way that a Galaxy S2 display is attached to the phone. Then i can just ask the repairer if he would have known how to repair a GSII.
I really cant ship it back to OPO its gonna be almost as much expensive as buying a new One!

Did you only buy the digitizer? You should have bought the screen and digitizer that are already fused. It is absurdly difficult to take off only digitizer and broken glass cleanly. Believe me, I've been repairing things all my life and this is one of the hardest things to fix.

But even attaching to the phone is also kind of a challenge right?
guys,
Anyone please suggest regarding how durable and trustworthy are these digitizer +lcd combo that are available on ebay.in?
Can i purchase them? I broke the screen badly and waiting for a replacement. Found a replacement on ebay.in for apprx 100$. Thats fine with me but need suggestions from users who already tried using these screens...? can i go ahead and get it done from a repair shop?

Thanks for the reply, followed those instructions and nothing.
Try reaching out to Support (from within the phone)? They should offer some help.
Or, see if there's any service test menu available for the pixel? (Google search not helpful, I'm afraid).

Spoke to support they said they was going to send out replacement details in post etc, Followed to tell them my screen had a slight crack in ( Just glass ) which apparently voids all warranty ?
Oh fudge... And I suppose there's no insurance to fall back on.
This is annoying.
No luck with the service test codes?
Tried factory reset?
Don't tell them it these things (slightly cracked screen).

Yeah tried everything still can't get it to work,
Is there any sensors on the front of the screen that could be affecting the cameras function at all? I can replace the screen but it's no good if my camera won't work.

Have you asked google if they will honor the warranty if you have the screen replaced? They were willing to do that for me when I came across my microphone issue, so that may be an option for you.

Yes likely it would, paying to replace it and have a fully working phone would be better than replacing your screen yourself and still having issues no?
I was going to say spend fifteen bucks and grab a camera from ebay, would be a cheap and easy possible fix, but I can only find one camera online and they want $90 for it. pfft. My next suggestion would be to take it apart and disconnect/reconnect the camera(s). Last Resort of course, but it sounds like you might be there already. You can nuke a ziplock bag of water to soften the glue tape around the screen. And get a micro torx set from whatever your walmart equivalent is (you will want at least two torx t5 bits) Teardown vids all over youtube.

Thanks for the reply, Can't take my screen out as it would literally fall apart from the top right now. Just don't see how this could effect the rear camera when the front one is inside the screen damage area, And front cam also works on third party apps just not the rear one.
Was going to unlock the bootloader and reflash the ROM but as it's on 7.1.2 it's impossible right now so it's just a matter of replacing the screen then cleaning/ reconnecting the camera

anyone else got their phone wet and :( ?

I dropped my magic 2 in water for a microsecond and it hasn't started up again Anyone experience this and know what would most likely have happened and if repairable?
I was thinking of asking Huawei to take a look at it given they have an office local to me but asking first on the off-chance someone has cracked one open. And as a warning to others not to dare let there's near water
:crying:
Honestly, while some very nice aspects to this phone - especially the screen and the Dex-like functionality which is very impressive the first time - the lack of Assistant support, inability to modify much, along with the weight of it and mediocre camera, I don't mind going back to my dinged-up Note FE. But it would be nice to fix it if possible.
You need to be sure is dry inside before power on. Just wait some days and then try it.
If u already did start it may some parts are broken and u should visit Huawei Center and they may have a look at it. Maxbe its easy fixable...

Hello XDA community, anyone knows if fingerprint sensor can be replaced?

I would contact Poco or Xiaomi via their website for this. I'm sure it'll be under warranty if you didn't intentionally break it, considering how new the phone is.

Yep, this is the way to go. Use your warranty, by the look of things I'd say there might be a short circuit somewhere inside.
Return the phone to the place where you have purchased it. Instead of getting the single component replaced, just file for a replacement.
Unfortunately I am in the same situation, fingerprint stopped working after a fall and I had to open the phone and unplug the flex cable (goodbye warranty), impossible to find a replacement part as for now, I looked everywhere

Look at the attacched picture, don't mind the red circle, focus on the green one, that's the flex for fingerprint, to access it you have to:
1) remove plastic back cover
2) remove motherboard and camera's cover
If in the future you want to replace the fingerprint sensor it's not hard, I removed it to check the flex cable integrity so I can tell it's easy
WARNING: the motherboard cover screws have seals so if you remove them warranty is gone!

Man, sorry to bother you again.
I was talking with my friend (who's gonna open the phone) and he was telling me that he thinks if he removed the GREEN cable the POWER BUTTON will not work, so I'll not be able to turn on screen. Is this true? This cable only disconnect the Fingerprint Sensor? If not, how can he be able to keep POWER BUTTON working and only "disconnect" the sensor (even if he needs to cut some wires on this cable)?
Thanks for any help!

The power button uses a different flex cable which is not shown in the picture, don't worry, removing the flex i mentioned will only disable fingerprint scanner, power button will still work as usual
I compared Redmi Note 9 Pro and X3 NFC, fingerprint sensor looks identical (connector, cable and button looks the same) Im going to order sensor from 9 Pro and install it on X3 NFC and will report back if it works. Hopefully it does...
Update: Since there is some code on fingerprint sensor cable, I run that code on Google and from search results I found that this sensor is actually used on both Note 9 Pro and X3 NFC

Interesting, thanks for reporting!
Codes on the flex cable are not identical but are really similar, anyway i tried to order it too (ordered it 2 weeks ago on aliexpress), as soon as i receive it, i will report back.
F3626WL is written on both X3 and 9 Pro
RA1 xxxxxxx is different, that's probably serial number or something like that, so its probably dfferent on every cable. Report if it works if you get it earlier than me.

Bought from same seller, ordered blue button, I think it will look neater instead of black.
Well, dropped the phone in water, been in water for 15+ minutes. Had to disassemble it immediately and dry it out. While removing back housing, I damaged the cable...Should've been more careful...
Everything major was completely dry lol, but water got inside screen backlight so there were bunch of marks on screen, luckily after drying it out, there are no marks...Even if this phone is just water resistant, it survived fine in bucket of water for 15 minutes.
Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences, I'm still stuck with the fingerprint broken, and I'll wait @marko.dnb and @fonz93 to reply, so I can buy the Redmi Note 9 Pro sensor.
There's a similar experience from another Brazilian which did that replacement with Redmi Note 9 sensor (in this item: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001506489551.html in comments section)
