is there any alternative to xposed framework? - Moto G 2015 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Xposed framework is not yet ready for Android 7, so i was thinking if there is any alternative to xposed framework. If there is, plz let me know. Thanks in advance.

only thing that can be done now is wait

Wait... and pray they can even make it work. The developers of Xposed Framework have said soon this method will no longer work, in fact, if you remember last year when Marshmallow came out it was several months and the devs almost shut down Xposed and gave up, but got a lucky break. It might move forward for Nougat, or could stop here... either way, it won't last much longer. Better get used to stock Android or custom ROMs.

Thanks for the information, already using custom rom but there are some apps which asks for xposed framework to work.

Ah... I assume you mean Greenify with its ability to hibernate system apps (everything else works in Greenify w/o Xposed except that), but Marshmallow and Nougat really don't need that anyway with Doze mode.
Still, Xposed is a dying thing, security in Android is getting tighter everyday, and that won't stop... And since Xposed is only intended for stock ROMs, as more and more security holes get closed, it makes it harder and harder to keep system-level mods working. Xposed is not intended for custom ROMs.

I didn't know this all, thanks for sharing. There are lot of apps (xposed modules) in play store ,is there any way to make them work in custom rom??

I didn't say it won't work, it's not supported... Xposed is not currently compatible with Nougat, it might be later or may not, just have to wait and see. Xposed was only intended for and supported on stock roms.
Xposed works by modifying the operating system framework, basically the structure of the components and how they are displayed... And most devices share a common, stock (or nearly stock) framework from the AOSP code base, Xposed works by modifying this on the fly to do things like replacing the battery icon or allowing you to hibernate system apps... This is all fine and dandy until you try to get it to make changes to a system that uses a modified framework already, like a custom ROM, depending on what it tries to do it may be successful or may cause the device to come to a crashing halt and be unbootable, or just cause weird little quirks that don't make sense, but it has tried to change something that was already changed causing an unpredictable mixture. This is why custom rom developers won't even look at a problem if Xposed is installed.
So the answer is, it might work, might not, but it's an unsupported configuration on ever custom ROM out there and you are on your own with it. Make sure to make backups, cross your fingers and make only absolutely necessary changes.

CM based roms and Xposed

Anyone know why CM based roms seem to absolutely crap their pants when using xposed/certain xposed modules?

Because xposed created not for just one phone. It was created basically for all phones which running stock (or close to stock) android. Xposed replaces some methods or I don't know what exactly when phone is booting. And if there is some modification (CM is modified a lot) then it can conflicts with xposed. That's why xposed or some modules can crash. CM is based on stock android but there is a lot of modifications in code.

i just get really weird things happening like one of the nav buttons will disappear completely and the home button won't do anything (even though it shows it's been clicked).
it's weird, i never get any issue like that on slim etc, but all cm based ones literally make my phone go bonkers
edit: even after uninstalling xposed on c-rom it's completely cocked! lame....

[Q] How to make locked S3 not look like touchwiz

I really dislike the touchwiz versions of things... they're slow and ugly. I've replaced mail with mailwise, sms with go sms pro, I use a handful of launchers depends on my mood, replaced the dialer...
But there's still remnants of touchwiz in a few places, like the notification tray. Is there a ROM (or I suppose a notification replacement) for those of us with a locked bootlader that while having a TW kernel... doesn't look like touchwiz?

The quickest method would be to install Xposed framework, install the "GravityBox" module for Xposed then customize to your heart's content.
If you want to go the custom rom route, read the following.
There's AllianceRom by Beantstown106 which has always been AOSP themed. Also, there's Mostly Stock by Old&Slow which has an option to choose a blue or white theme for the notification toggles.
If you are on VRUCML1 or VRUCNC1 4.3, then you need Safestrap installed first before attempting to install either. If you are on KitKat, then you are currently limited to stock or rooted KitKat OTA that you accepted only.
If you're on a locked bootloader you are going to have a hard time getting rid of all TW... As you mentioned are the best ways I found before I rooted.
I was wrong. GravityBox is for AOSP only. What I was thinking of is Wanam Xposed. Wanam Xposed is a TouchWiz equivalent of GravityBox. Wanam Xposed is downloaded from the Play Store and installed via Xposed.

How's wanam xposed? I'm thinking about rooting my NE1 via towelroot and then getting the xposed framework and wanam xposed.

Not a problem bud, I have no qualms admitting when I am wrong about something haha
Gravitybox will still work with touchwiz, I'm using for my gs3 on 4.4.2 because wanam doesn't have the option to change battery percent size on the 4.4 update. It did have it on 4.3 but some reason removed for 4.4 but gravitybox works at changing the size for me
Doesn't work on the settings screen and such, but I use Nova Launcher, and then use Titanium to freeze the Touchwiz Home app so save memory. I tried to install the Nexus Dialer APK, but it hosed my normal dialer and I had to reflash.
I've been trying a few of these now... and I can't seem to get them to work. I've tried Wanam Kit, Ex-themer, and Xposed Statusbar Mods - SGS...
I got Wanam to give me text inside the battery, but it won't change the color or anything. None of them give me advanced reboot, the closest that comes is Wanam does an actual reboot on long press.

[Q] Google search and chrome keep crashing

I own the boost mobile XT1031 model and finally decided to unlock the bootloader and root the device. Everything was going fine. But not Google search and chrome wont work. Search crashes and gives me an option to report it. Chrome and chrome beta fail to connect to the Internet even though other apps such as Facebook, REddit and other Google apps connect just fine. When i go to enable now cars it says that i need to check my Internet connection. The only other thing that has changed is the font is different for some reason. I did install a few xposed modules to change the look and feel, such as Gravitybox, Android L Theme, and tinted status bar. They seemed to have no effect on the device in a negative way. I also had greenify but i only had it hibernating apps i hardly used. If anyone knows what to do to fix this it would be very appreciated.
I would like to add that the issues are still persistent even after factory reseting the phone. I am running stock rom, Would it be possible to get rid of these problems by reflashing the original rom or flashing a custom rom? I am also using TWRP. I do have a backup of before the issues started but that is on my laptop which i won't be near until Wednesday. Thank you again in advance.
I would try flashing back to stock or your original recovery and try the different xposed modules one by one to see which (if any) are causing the issues. Have you tried installing a custom rom?

It should, but you may want to update your apps to current versions as well after the restore. I don't know how old your backup is, but updating may solve some your issues.
I would definitely resist the urge to try any lollipop roms on the xt1031, as their are numerous connectivity issues at this point for cdma. But there are some great KitKat Roms (CM11 is one of them) available. I'm currently using PA.

Thank you, I resisted the urge and now there is a soak test zip so ill be doing that soon.
I restored the backup, it was 2 days old, and everything is working fine now. Adaway for youtube was the cause of the crashing, as for the font change, i'm not sure.

[UNOFFICIAL] Systemless Xposed v86.1

If anyone is having issues with flashing xposed I found a thread where there is universal systemless xposed now.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/unofficial-systemless-xposed-t3388268
I'm going to give it a go even though I've never had issues with xposed, but it seems that with systemless root and systemless xposed you'll keep your OTA capabilities, but a few apps like Android Pay will not work. Make sure to read the whole thread and throw them a thank you for making this.

systemless xposed works fine (and seems to make the system lag less then regular xposed) however 86.7 is out and you need to also make sure you have the "material design xposed installer" installed as it's the only version that detects systemless xposed. The regular one will not do the job.

I'm currently on 85.7 as 86.1 wasn't recognized after installation 2 times by the installer. So far no issues with that, but with MM in general every now and then when I leave the phone for extended periods of time it won't turn back on when the power button is pressed. I've tried everything to keeping the cores full bore and it still happens like it's a deep sleep that it can't wake from and I have to restart the phone.

[Rom] [Stock] [Rooted] [Deodexed] [Debloated] [TWRP Flashable Zip] [SM-T350]

The reason I am posting here and not in the Rom section is because I am not a developer. I am an Android enthusiast who, with the help of a few awesome tools, some reading and some help from a couple of great devs, I was able to build a custom rom from a stock first release. I have been running it now for a couple of weeks and battery life is awesome. Just enough Samsung apks left in too call it a stock rom but not so many to cause it to lag. I thought that since it was running so nice, I would share it with you. So, without further ado, this is what I came up with.
"Ghost Project v1.0 6.0.1 t350" This is only for the t350.
With the help of a few awesome people, that provided me with the direction and resources links, I was able to take a stock firmware.tar (T350XXU1BPE3) and make a TWRP flashable zip. This is what I came up with:
I am not a developer..... Let me make this clear.. Lol.. I am not a developer. But I did use an awesome tool that allowed me to make this rom " superr kitchen" .... http://forum.xda-developers.com/chef-central/android/kitchen-superrs-kitchen-t3202296/page26
So first and foremost a big thanks goes out to this developer for this awesome tool.
I would also like to give props to Samsung and Sammobile.com for the firmware.
The kernel is from http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-a/development/kernel-galaxy-tab-sm-t555-5-8-2016-t3433560 and is a stock, permissive kernel. By "[ashyx, http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=4899305 Recognized Contributor]" another awesome dev. This is a stock kernel in every respect with SElinux set to permissive.
I would also like to thank and give props to"{FankieT} of {R3Ds themes and Development}" https://plus.google.com/communities/102477541363210451018 for all of his help and guidance. He was who got me started into Linux through Ubuntu and spent many hours teaching this old dog the ways of Android coding. Just a pinch of coding on my part..lol

Use at your own risk. ********You have been warned..*********
Features:
1. Rooted with chainfires SuperSu in system, not systemless (I hate systemless root)
2. Busybox installed
3. Debloated. I didn't go too far (for reliability) but will work on getting more Samsung system apps removed.
4. Zip aligned
5. Deodexed (I may make one that is odexed later on)
6. Removed Kies
7. Custom kernel
Stock but SElinux permissive (see note on developer in Intro)
8. Some script changes but nothing to change system behavior
9. Added ES File explorer v3.2.5.
This app will try to update unless Play Store settings are changed to not auto update. But if you like the latest than update it.
10. Added Nova Launcher v3.3
I don't like the newer Material Designed updated builds. This will also try to update unless settings in Play Store are set to not auto update.
11. Latest Google Keyboard.
I just don't care for Samsung's and like the theming features of Google's latest keyboard. Samsung keyboard is still in though if you prefer to use it instead.
12. According to the toolkit, Knox was removed. Although I still see it in the settings tab under Settings/about phone. I don't think this can be removed safely however all updates (annoying notifications stating that there is an update available) have been removed so there shouldn't be any chance of accidentally updating to the latest firmware, if any is released. If you want an update than you will have to download any updates ( if the are any) from Samsung and use Odin to install it.
Kernel:
Here is a link to the kernel developer's thread, who is another awesome dev, who's kernel is the heart of this rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...el-galaxy-tab-sm-t555-5-8-2016-t3433560/page8
By "[ashyx, Recognized Contributor]" This is a stock kernel in every reguard with SElinux set to permissive.
A few other small things here and there but mostly stock.
-This is a flashable zip using TWRP recovery and I highly recommend the 2.8.7.0 build as apposed to the 3.0.2.0 build that is also on XDA in this forum.

#####Flashing instructions#######
###MUST BE ON MARSHMALLOW BUILD ****T350XXU1BPE3******####### so, if you are on a lollipop build (5.0.1) you need to update to 6.0.1 and have TWRP installed........
1. Make a backup onto your external SD card or on a PC using TWRP recovery. This is a very important step as things do go wrong. You have been warned.
2. Wipe. I recommend a clean install with all 4 major wipes done (system, Cache, Dalvik Cache and Data)
3. Flash "Ghost Project v1.0 6.0.1 t350" rom zip.
4. Wipe both Cache and Dalvik Cache
5. Reboot to system and profit.
*****The first boot will take a long time to boot. Put the device down and walk away until it boots (could take up to 15 minutes ) but most likely around 12 to 15 minutes. That is because all files are deodexed.
After it boots up Go ahead and set up the device the way you like it and enjoy.
I also have a Google Plus Communitee Called "Hayes Tech Rom Reviews" where you can go to watch reviews/overviews of custom roms for many devices that I own. I have about 20 to 25 devices now and try to do reviews on all the diferent roms out for them. I also have awesome links like the 3Minit battery mod by{made by "gharrington"} for the Nexus 6 and many more things. Please feel free to stop by.

I can't think of anything else..lol.. This is the first time for me so I'm not too sure about proper post etiquette for Custom Roms. I am not posting in the roms section because I am not a developer. I do not have the skills those great people have. We just do not have any stock based roms yet and mine is running great so I am sharing with you all. I am going to try to add more custom features and may even add a pure stock rom for total stock experience, let me know... Enjoy.

Yes it does. I used the kernel that is in this forum to build it with and it is a permissive kernel. The version is v87.1-sdk23-arm made by Wanam specifically for Samsung. I am running it now asking with gravitybox and a few other mods.
Just remember that since it is deodexed it will take a long, long time to boot. I timed it on my last 2 flashes at around 13 minutes both times. My battery life is outstanding.

Just installed this, flashed it and xposed at the same time, took 7 minutes to boot the first time.
Updating, reinstalling and debloating things I don't need now.
Seems faster than the debloated 5.02 rom I was on.

I screwed something up with a xposed module (I guess, everything was fine until I installed a power menu module and told it to reboot into recovery). No matter what I did, It would only boot into twrp. Even if I powered off and plugged the charger in, instantly twrp. Reflashing the rom did absolutely nothing, I had to odin stock then reflash this rom.
Ah well, live and learn with xposed.. I know not to install that power module lol

I hear ya. Xposed is something I use only if I know the module. I never use test version (anymore .. lol) I did the same thing you did a whike back with some other mod.
The only mods I use are Gravitybox, Notify Clean, Xuimod, and sometimes either HK theme engine out Xtheme engine. Gravitybox has most all mods that I need built right in it including an advanced powed menus settings.
Also, when you were in that issue, did you try using the Xposed uninstall zip? That may have got you fixed up too.

Well, even with gravitybox's reboot menu, if i have it boot me into recovery it sets the recoverybit and makes me reflash stock firmware.
so DON'T pick recovery from your reboot menu

I use it all the time. I just rebooted into recovery just before I responded here. Anyways there are also app on the p
Play Store that will reboot you to recovery too, like "Quickboot". I don't understand why this is giving you issues. What version of recovery are you on? There are problems with the 3.0.2.0. I used the other one on this forum 2.7.8.0.
