My Mi5 constantly reboots in pocket. Is there any case (non-wallet style) that makes power button pressing harder, and would solve my problem? With silicone-case or without it power button is way too easy to press, and that's why my phone reboots in the pocket.
I had the same problem after getting a $1 TPU case. My solution? I cut a small slot/hole in the case where the volume and power buttons are, and problem solved. It is not that difficult to cut the holes, as the TPU is soft and the button locations are clearly defined in the moulded case.

I did have that setting on, but it didn't stop the occasional rebooting and volume changing in the pocket. The physical method was the only reliable solution for me.
hmmm i cant change volume if screen is locked, even if I press power button to wake display and then use volume rockers nothing happen so how volume can change in your pocket ?

I don't know for sure as it was in my pocket.
My guess is the power button got pressed so long that the phone rebooted, at which point the volume buttons worked. Indeed I occasionally found my phone in recovery mode when I took it out of my pocket.
I haven't spent too much time investigating further, as cutting holes in the case solved it once and for all.
I just bought a Nillkin Frosted case and a ASLING tempered glass protector for my mi5. the glass is awesome with smooth rounded edges and the case gives good differentiation between the side buttons while they still are recessed so they won't be pressed in your pocket.
The only problem I had was that the case would lift the corners of the glass protector, I solved this by sanding down the inner lip on the case. Working great now, but I have only had this combination for about 2 days.
I got a cheap soft case with the phone that was horrible and the buttons were hard to press.
Using a Ringke Fusion case, never had any accidental button presses in my pocket. It also has built-in dust plugs, which is a good bonus.
I just cut hole for power button and problem is solved. Thanks for tips!

Can i post link to aliexpress here? I got a very good hard silicon/plastic back cover from there for my Mi5. It will help a lot with your problem, because it actually harder to press side buttons with it.

I had the same problem, it's because those cheap TPU covers depress the Mi5 buttons halfway then the slightest touch causes a reboot. Now I got a hard case (that's soft to the touch) that's much better and I don't experience any reboots.
It's called MSVII and is available for about $5-8.

I second this, i bought nillkin frosted case since i bought my phone in august and it still look like brand new
I am using a XINKSD brand black hard mate case from ali. It's thin, covers the phone very well, nice to the touch, perfect button presses.
pzoz casing is not too bad either
Best to get any hard case with button cutouts and not a cover over the button. My favourite type of case is Spigen Hybrid style, with hard back and soft edges, but then that would make the buttons too easy to accidentally press and hold. My favourite ones are the Nillkin Super Frosted or MSVII Hard Frosted (sorry can't post links yet)

however, this function is for the screen. it does nothing for the power button.
I cut the rubber on top of the power button on my silicone case and it is harder to press now. Also harder to find, sometimes. I still accidentally press the volume buttons sometimes and end up mute or full volume
Try cocose casing, it's rubber and cover all the edges and buttons and have thick corners.
And until now i don't have any problems with this case

I just ordered the spigen glass screen protector, the 0.28mm one. It just hit me that if the glass was thick, then I'd have difficulty hitting the home button.
Does anyone else know of this? Do I need to buy the home button attachment for this?

My spigen case came with with 3 different colored home button stickers. makes the home button stick out, I would think they would send those if you are buying the glass screen protector.... check what is being sent in the box
It comes with home buttons, and you don't need to use them. It's all up to you if you prefer an inny or an outy. My home button fell off and I was able to use the inny no problem.
I was actually going to unmap my home button to wake my phone because i was always waking my phone up pulling it out of my pocket when i didn't want it on. But when i got the MIME Ghost Glass screen protector and installed it i never hit the home button by mistake pulling the phone from my pocket. The Ghost Glass comes with 3 gel buttons (orange white and black) but it's easy to press the home button with it recessed slightly.
So like he said it's all if you want an inny or an outty... i prefer the inny as well.
on my i9505, use spigen thicker glass protector without extra layer for home button.
but, I don't really use home button cause use screen buttons, which are much more efficient.
p.s. dream when Samsung stop put any buttons on front panel.

Well its completely your choice.....as you have an option to use it or not....when I got my glass screen Protector...I also got three home button stickers but I have not used even one as I felt its not necessary to use them on home button.....
I personally have spigen aluminum home button (silver) put on my home button. It sits flush with the glas.t and gives it a real nice finish look! So, it's not necessary but if you want your phone to look sexy, it's a must! Hehe

Yep, was going to say the same thing. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the aluminum home buttons that can be purchased from Spigen. I have the Glas.TR Slim and the aluminum button sits perfectly flush with the glass.

I have a jelly button on mine with the glass screen protector, honestly, I like the color (orange), but its irritating to find my battery draining becuase the home button keeps getting pressed whenever I sit down, bend over or whatever. Phone gets crazy warm at times too. I'm debating on ripping it off, lol.
I have a .4mm thick glass screen protector I got off ebay and that makes the home button quite recessed. Even so, I don't have any problem using it naked.

Generally I have had good experiences with case-mate. However, this case features metal (plastic?) buttons on the sides to press the power and volume buttons on the Gs5. While the buttons work fine, and the case does protect the phone, my case fell apart. Specifically, the button that presses on the volume button fell out. It stayed in if I put it back and then left the case on the phone; however, if you take your case off with any frequency, the button apparently will fall out every time once this becomes loose.
So, I would not buy this case again.
I recently purchased an Element Eclipse phone case and am having problems with it. The TPU Power + Volume buttons are integrated so they do not stick out for easier pressing. Which is a problem because everytime I press either buttons, they don't activate unless it's with more than enough pressure. The main reason I bought the case was for the "SBS" (sound boost system) and am looking for any other possible case that features something similar to it. SBS is Element's way of bringing the sound from the rear speaker, to the front towards you so you can hear it better and have an overall better sound experience. I have yet to come across another case like that and was hoping somebody here knew of one. Thanks.
I don't know about alternatives, but I fixed the button problem on my Element Eclipse with some careful knife slits. One slit in the crevice to the right of the power button, two slits in the top-left and bottom-left corners of the crevice to the left of the volume buttons. Completely unnoticeable visually and significantly easier to press the buttons. I based this off of the built-in slits that are on the Galaxy S5 Element Reacon case.

Funny you mentioned that because I researched hard to press TPU buttons and I too have found suggestions to do that. I made slits along the edges of the Power and Volume buttons and it made a huge difference. Thank you for posting that tip though for others to see. :highfive:
are the button pieces that press the actual phone buttons close enough when the phone is in the case or is there a significant gap?
ive had cases that have needed a little strip glued to the cases buttons inside the case.
ive also had others that needed some material trimmed off of the cases buttons as they were too easy to press as they were too close to the phone buttons. they would get bumped and go off cause they were actually pressing the buttons partially at rest

Does anyone else who has one of these cases have a problem with accidentally powering the phone off or hitting the volume rocker? I've always preferred a bumper case (especially for this fatty - anything with a back would just make this thing too thick) but didn't realize until now how important cut-outs are rather than buttons on the case. Every once in a while I feel my phone vibrate in my pocket and pull it out only to see that it is restarting. This never happened with the cheap OEM case which had cut-outs. I'm about to take an exacto knife to it and cut those raised buttons out, but am afraid it'll be too hard to reach the buttons.
Maybe try shaving the case buttons down a bit.
I've had the Case-mate naked tough on since day one, haven't had a single problem with it. Although when I first installed it I had to reinstall it twice to make sure the buttons line up.. Awesome case, just a lil slippery on the back side, but overall I'm very happy with it.

Actually, I can press the power button just by pressing the case near the power button. It appears they didn't recess the case enough near the button, so shaving off the outside isn't going to help. It would probably be best to shave it down on the inside, but that would be very difficult. I think I'm just going to cut the button out.

That's a totally different case than this one.
I have the Vena and liking it. It shows scuffs and scratches but still shows off my custom back fine. No issues with buttons. They work flawlessly.
I don't have your issue above. The side of the case with the buttons is kind of loose, so I emailed the company and never got a response. Then I emailed them back and still didn't get a response. Then about a week or two later I randomly got a brand new case in the mail. They never contacted me, but gave me a brand new case. So I'm happy about it lol. I would suggest contacting them because that should not be happening.
Have your problem in spades.

Whenever I touch the phone, I always seem to brush the power or rocker and either turn it or crank the volume. Time for a little surgery. Love it otherwise.

Half the time when I try to turn the volume up on my phone (using the volume up button) the volume goes down, or the volume 'bounces' between going up and down. Many times when I have attempted to turn the volume down (using the volume down button) I have inadvertently turned the screen off, due to accidentally engaging the power button. Ultimately I don't think that the button placement on this phone is particularly well thought out. On future phones I will always check to make sure that the power button is nowhere near the volume buttons. This being said for the foreseeable future I will be using my new HTC One M9 phone so I am wondering if anyone can suggest a good cover that won't cause my buttons to 'play up'. My preference is for a gel cover, or similar, essentially anything that doesn't cover the screen (e.g.: flip covers).
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

After doing a bit of research (I just picked up this phone the other day), I decided to order the Spigen Neo Hybrid, I was going to go with a casemate because I had one a while back and really liked it, anyway. I've had my M9 for nearly a year and have the Spigen Thin Fit cast on it. I don't drop my phones regularly and have never shattered a screen, so my criteria was just to get something that would give better grip, add as little thickness as possible, and let me use the buttons without issue, and this case has been the perfect solution.

I had that problem (the volume 'bounces' between going up and down) with the spigen ultra hybrid case, it has some bump to reach the buttons, all did was to cut those bumps with an x-acto and now it's perfect
I've used many cases with mine. The ice view always tears at the hinge, the rugged ones were very cumbersome and one led to my phone dying from water damage (rain collecting in the top part of the case and leaching through the irda blaster)
Spigen neo is my current case and I really like it apart from its far too easy to press the buttons. While driving with the phone in my pocket it often turns itself up or down but I like the case

Cut a little the inside of the case , the buttons in the inside have a little rubber to reach the phone but it's too much. I did that to mine
I have M9 since a week and i have bought Baseus case for it .
Fits perfectly with my M9 . It is also very thin and smooth .
