The latest official TWRP version is 2.6.3.0 and the device is no longer maintained.
Where did you find the 2.8 version?

Yes, you can upgrade your version of TWRP as long as there is a newer version of TWRP for your model number.
If you get it in .img format you can flash it in TWRP(TWRP can flash .img files) or with Flashify.
Or
If you get it in .zip format you can flash it in TWRP also.
Just remember, after you flash it in TWRP you need to find the reboot option at TWRP main menu and choose "reboot recovery" and it will reboot into the new TWRP, if you fail to do this step you won't keep the new version and it will revert back to the older version that you already had.

Well if you look at this thread the rom is for TF-700 and TF-201 and the pre requisites require TWRP 28.0.0. While The official release for TF-201 Is 26.6.3. This Confuses me. How Do I flash it???

When you see a thread that says a ROM requires a certain version of TWRP, it means you need "at least" that version and not a version older than that. Best bet is to always use the newest, most up to date TWRP then you don't have to worry about it because newer versions of TWRP can flash older ROMs with no problem but older versions of TWRP can't flash some newer ROMs. As ROMs become newer they require newer TWRP because partitioning structure changes with each new version of android so the recovery has to be compatible with the changes made in partition structure, that's why older recovery can't flash some newer ROMs, because the older recover doesn't have the necessary changes to keep up with changes in partition structure.

There isn't much to explain other than the fact that "KANG" means they created that recovery using work someone else did, it means they probably ported that recovery from a different device.

@QuadTurbo
Good advice: READ! As much as you can find about what you're going to do. XDA + google will help you to find nearly everything...
KANG TWRP is a unofficial TWRP, its built for a unofficial bootloader (ported from another device) (included in the Hairybean Rom Thread)
Latest TWRP 3.0.2.0 + Hairybean Bootloader 4.2.1 + instructions can be found when you click the links.
Make sure to READ and UNDERSTAND everything before you proceed flashing a modified bootloader to your device, as you can easily (hard)brick it by flashing a wrong bootloader.

So you're implying that i can actually flash an unofficial version of TWRP Recovery.

OK, let do one step at a time, go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1795156 and download the unlock tool app, then run the tool to unlock your device, it's very safe and you need internet connectivity while unlocking. Give it a try and report back. If sucessful, we will take you to next step.

OK, you are set, now you have many options:
1. Stock with rooted
If you want to keep stock, then just download the SuperSu and use twrp to flash "install" the zip package can be found here http://download.chainfire.eu/310/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.04.zip?retrieve_file=1
2. Custom rom and custom kernel.(use TWRP to flash the rom or kernel zip file).
They come with pre-rooted, so you don't need root. Here is the best rom which compatible with both the tablet and dock:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2049274
I would take option 2, option1 is pointless.

You already on .25 JB right? then you don't need to flash any bootloader. Here is the best setup:
Cromi (cleanrom) 3.2.2 ODEX with _that_stock kerne. During the setup select:
fsync disabled and seeder.(with seeder, you can download later on so no big deal).

Question for the master: I am on CROMI 3.2.1 and still have TWRP 2.2.3. Should I push TWRP 2.3.1.0 or 2.3.3.0 before I flash CROMI 3.2.2?? I've been reading posts about conflicts between outdated recoveries and bootloader. What's outdated? At the same time, the latest TWRP builds seem to be buggy and sdbags wrote he went back to CWM? What's your advice?

Update to TWRP 2.3.1, it works for most of us. I don't know which version was the first to be compatible with the JB bootloader, but 2.2.3 sounds quite old - and if you choose "wipe data" from the bootloader menu or use any "boot to recovery" tools with an incompatible recovery, you risk turning your tablet into an expensive paperweight.

TWRP Update gone wrong

I am on the new 4.2 bootloader and TWRP 2.4. Last night I went to upgrade TWRP. I chose the TWRP file named twrp-2.5.0.0-tf300t-4.2.blob. I renamed the file twrp.blob and pushed it out via fast boot. When done I rebooted via fastboot, and then rebooted into recovery.
Now something is not right, twrp is split into two screens horizontily and shows the lock picture on both. I have to power cylce to get back to Andriod. Where did I go wrong? Should I have chosen the .img file?
Ok I think think I realized there has been a second 4.2 bootloader update from Asus and that's my problem. Is that right?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2
yes.
A lot of people have soft bricked their device because of this.
Yeah from what I've read twrp 2.5.0.0-4.2 will only work correctly on JB bootloader 10.6.1.15.3, not sure yet if twrp 2.4.4.0-4.2 works on 10.6.1.15.3.
I have no issues with twrp 2.5.0.0-4.2 on JB 10.6.1.15.3

So I have 10.6.1.8 and installed 2.5.0.0 and am experiencing the same problem (the noob proof guide wasn't very noob proof apparently). How would I go about putting on the correct version?
EDIT: So I just took the plunge and reflashed the correct version which I found http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/tf300t/openrecovery-twrp-2.4.4.0-tf300t-4.2.blob here. I was initially worried because I wasnt sure if I could just flash over and downgrade versions...it worked for me, and TWRP is currently making a backup and is full screen and running.

Impossible to install TWRP 2.8.6.0

First of all sorry if there are some solution in other thread but i was searching a lot and found nothing. Also i cannot ask this on the twrp thread because of the xda system that don't allow me to write there or on some other development thread because my account have few than 10 messages (very frustrating this).
I tried to install the twrp 2.8.6.0 and it's impossible to have it working, when i install it always i have a bootloop that don't allow the phone to enter to the recovery.
I tried all the ways to install it (app flashify, app twrp manager, app kernel adiutor, cmd, toolkit, through twrp 2.8.7.0, 2.8.4.0, 2.8.7 multirom) and still without luck. It's very strange because is THAT specific version (2.8.6.0) that don't work, when i flash other version like 2.8.7 works perfectly.
Anyone knows what's the problem?

The problem isn't flashing the ROM correctly its that you don't have the correct firmware so it gives an error and refuses to flash the latest Sultan builds. TWRP 2.8.6.0.6 or 2.8.7.0.5 both in that directory I posted earlier can flash the correct firmware. You'll need to download the latest CM13 flash that wipe again and then flash Sultan to have the latest baseband version

I did that you told me and now i have the Sultan cm13 working perfectly.
I didn't know that, thanks.

TWRP downgrade works but strangely.

Okay, many of us don't do this everyday but I flashed TWRP 3.0.2.0 on my OPO and needed to go back to 2.8.6.0 to use jgcaap's MM build.
So i tried flashing 2.8.6.0 img file from 3.0.2 and guess what happened? No. It didn't downgrade it self, instead I lost my recovery. My phone rebooted straight to system after being stuck on Bootlogo for a while. So I flash the recovery AGAIN via fastboot, flashify, RashR, Flashfire, Mobile Terminal whatever I could think of. But nope, same result whatsoever. Flashing other recoveries doesn't work either. Same errors return.
Then I thought of flashing 3.0.0.0 instead of 2.8.6.0 and yes, flashing 3.0.0.0 from 3.0.2.0 worked indeed. Then I started to download all the recovery files till 2.8.6.0 and started flashing them one after another, step by step climbing down the number and it kept downgrading but ONE version down at a time, if I try to skip it returns the same bs as before. Then flashing down until I reached 2.8.6.0 and then flashed that too via RashR. And surprise! Surorise! The recovery version I needed was not working. It would be flashed then the recovery would disappear and it would go into a no recovery state like before again. Then I'd flash 2.8.6.1 and get recovery back. And now finally after all the endeavor I'm on 2.8.6.1.
Anybody might know the reason of this stupid anomaly? And why it doesn't work?
And also why I can't flash ANY OTHER recovery?
Unnecessary screenshot attached :good: enjoy~

You don't need to be on TWRP 2.8.6.0 to flash jgcaap MM build. Just use 3.0.2.0 it flashes modem and does everything the older one you're trying to get to can do.

I'm guessing they insisted because of the previous problems with flashing modems for TWRP. Flash the latest 3.0.2.0 and I guarantee it'll work for every ROM only issue that still exists is if you want encryption on CM13 and that's present on all current TWRP versions

This is an unofficial port of TWRP Recovery for the Oppo F1F on Project Spectrum Bootloader. Much Thanks and credit goes to the TWRP team, Lineage team, and brinleyaus for making this possible. This will allow flashing of modification zips (eg. supersu, magisk, xposed, etc) over the top of Project Spectrum or flashing spectrum based ROMS.
Instructions:
Already running Project Spectrum
- If you haven't already unlocked you bootloader you will need to go into SETTINGS > ABOUT PHONE and tap BUILD NUMBER 7 times to unlock DEVELOPER OPTIONS, Then go into SETTINGS > DEVELOPER OPTIONS and enable them, also enable ADB DEBUGGING and OEM UNLOCK. Now reboot into fastboot (adb reboot bootloader) and run fastboot oem unlock.
- Install this image file through fastboot (If you are unsure of this step follow one of the many tutorials about installing TWRP through fastboot)
On ColourOs with TWRP
- Do a full wipe first or the install will fail. (In TWRP hit WIPE then swipe to factory reset.) Do a backup first as you will lose data.
- Flash this zip file through twrp and then hit "wipe dalvic and cache", then hit HOME then REBOOT then RECOVERY. (rebooting to the new recovery will ensure the recovery sticks) then Flash any Spectrum based rom or restore any Spectrum based backup. NOTE the ColorOs system and boot.img will still be there but wont boot so you MUST flash or restore a Spectrum based rom before you reboot to system.

Which file are you talking about, I just checked the links and the flashable zip was actually pointing to the full ROM which defiantly has the 3.1.1-0 version. (I just fixed the link to point at the bootloader, firmware and twrp zip.) Are you rebooting to recovery after flashing to make it stick?

OK, I'll download it and check, maybe I uploaded from the old folder. Hope not 6.5 hours to upload it.

No one. If you don't like it stick with ColorOs or Lineage.

Not just yet, just got to work out the ramdisk changes needed to get ported roms to boot properly with spectrum kernel, then I'll share the info with you and then let the porting begin.

No, Read the OP of this thread. There is a zip (and instructions) to return to ColorOs Bootloader, firmware and TWRP. From there you can flash any TWRP flashable ColourOs based Rom (ColorOs or LineageOS) or restore backups from them.
Which root method will be used for this?
