Do you guys think Pixel will have the same amount of development if not more as compared to Nexus devices?
I am thinking of buying one and would like to clarify that before buying.

This might not belong here and should perhaps go in the Galaxy S subforum but I would like to get the opinions of more than just those who have the phone in general.
I am wondering what people think will happen regarding the hacker and dev community with regards to the Samsung Galaxy S. Samsung have put in a good deal of effort to the market the phone. They might even be embracing the hacker community, leaving the phone relatively easy to root when compared to previous Samsung phones. This suggests that they have realised the benefits that come with a good dev community behind their phone and are trying to pull people towards it.
The question is - will the community take the bait? Currently the community favours phones from rival companies such as the HTC Desire. Generally, the subforums for the Desire are filled with new releases while the Samsung Galaxy S' subforums are still relatively empty. Do you think people slowly gravitate towards the new Galaxy S and its new hardware and develop as many apps as they have been for the Desire and other HTC phones before it?
The reason I am asking this question is because I am going to buy a new phone at the end of August and am picking between the Desire and the Galaxy S. I really like the new hardware on the Samsung but am worried that if the community doesn't embrace the Galaxy S, updates will stop coming (Samsung are notorious for not supporting their own phones for very long). If people think devs will slowly move to the Samsung Galaxy S, I will almost certainly get that phone. If not, then I might stick to the Desire.
i am considering getting the new iphone but am skeptical that the capabilities are not worth the price. Is it worth it and what are the specific capabilities that are significantly better? Thank you

Hey guys, im currently using an HTC One m8, but im thinking about getting a secondary device to thinker with, i want to spend around $200 USD
i mainly be using this phone to try out roms and use my secondary sim card, i was looking to get a Xiaomi Mi3, but it seems to be a little more expensive here in the US, i was also considering getting a used Nexus 4, what do you guys think would be a good option?
I'm using a nexus 4, and a used nexus 4 would be great for tinkering, it is a fantastic device. Lots of ROMS and great support from the developer community.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Free mobile app
maybe s3 or p6

Hello all. I am unsure if this question belongs in this sub-forum. I have been through the QUESTIONS DO NOT BELONG IN GENERAL post, but i think this is not a Q&A.
So the reason i have this question is that im at a standstill. I was set to buy the Nexus 6, but the size and price made me change my decision.
Anyway, now i have rethink and im undecided between the Nexus 5 and the Oneplus one. The main reason im undecided is related to roms and software.
By looking at the N5 sub-forum here in XDA i see thousands of posts when compared to the OPO. I am worried that even though being a bit less heavy spec-wise the N5 might keep more developers working on it then on the OPO. Therefore more roms and software for the future.
Related to hardware i know the opo has better specs. Rounding up the HW differences what makes me undecided between the two is the RAM and the better battery life.
So iam currently stuck between these two phones and ill have to make a decision soon, i will be buying one of these in about two weeks.
Thank you for everyones help.
Best regards
you can go for samsung note 4 it`s so good
personally, between those two, I'd go with the Nexus 5 (just barely) for the exact reason you said: dev support.
Now if it was Nexus 6 and Oneplus One, I'd go Oneplus no question because of the price difference yet great specs on the One.
not matter what ,if i want to buy a new phone ,i will buy the latest
model for certain brand,if the latest model cannot satisfy my needs with their
price or size ,i will go for the latest model of other brand .that is my suggestion,
guessing samsung latest model is good .

The One Plus One is an exceptionally good piece of kit for the price and runs cyanogenmod which is a fantastic OS
Hello everyone and thank you for the replies.
I have decided to go with the One, i have been going through lots of forum posts lately reading from persons who changed from N5 to One, and in the bigger picture most ppl are calling it a good decision and a improvement.
It seems to me that the N5 is really a good phone, and imo its a better looking phone then the One, but following all my readings, the screen and the Ram in the One make a solid improvement over the N5.
Regarding my biggest concern, the software devs, well im just going to have faith in the One community. The device already runs one of the most popular roms and i have recently found out that the One is a supported phone for the franco kernel.
All in all i think im doing a good decision.
Right now im crazily sourcing funds to buy it, while i wait for my invite...
Choose OnePlus , it's a monster .
I personally like the Stock Interface more than custom UI's .
Hello XDA!
My faithful Galaxy Nexus is finally showing its age and is starting to malfunction, so it's time to look for a new one - and I'm continuing with the Nexus family. I can afford a new Nexus 5X or a new Nexus 6, and I'm leaning towards the Motorola, but I am worried that the LG is a better choice in the long run.
To make it clear, I don't care for the latest Android. I know the 6 will stop getting updates before the 5X does, but there are always custom ROMs. My question is whether the 6 will start having technical problems (signal issues, battery death, camera & OS issues - like my Galaxy Nexus has) before the 6 would, considering both of them are mint condition. Does the phone stay in "cryogenic mode" until it's used by someone, or is there some sort of "planned obsolescence" that will make older phones fail sooner than new ones?
Thank you!
P.S.: If it is off-topic/forbidden, please ignore this. If you prefer the 5X to the 6 due other reasons than being newer, please let me know why. I'm not 100% sure which one to get. AND, the Nexus 6P is out of budget.
There's a dedicated thread for such questions here,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1620179
You will get far more opinions there. So I'll close this thread.
Thanks,
