How is the headphone jack socket quality? - Sony Xperia XZ Questions & Answers

My earphone jack sits loose in my xperia z3 compact. Causing random pauses when listening to music and crackling noise in the microphone. This will be the third time that the socket fails. If this issue still persists with the XZ I'll have to think twice about my next phone.

Oh yes it is loose now... After almost 2 months.. Damn this is cheap quality by Sony

Mines fine so far.

Mine is fairly loose fitting compared to my tight iPhone socket. It works though but I have seen a few reports of premature failure.

No problems here on my Xperia XZ Dual (admittedly only had it a few weeks), nor any problems on my Xperia Z2 (had it for 2.5 years). One single device is finicky with my Xperia Z4 Tablet, but I'm guessing that's down to the device itself as cables seat firmly and all other devices work fine.

earphone not working

i have two htc official headphones,
first headphone problem
when i connect the headphones to mobile or laptops etc, there is no sound from speaker of headphones, but sign on laptop and desire hd shows that headphones are connected
second headphone problem
when i connect the headphones to desire hd or laptop. Voice is very low and distorted.there is some kind of noise coming from the speaker.
Any suggestion how to fix the headphone
Jack of laptop and desire hd is fine. I have tried other headphone they are working fine
I guess that the headphones as a bug, it feels that you did all the tests.
i think both are broken
i guess some connector are break
Unfortunately, the headphones are a bit fragile. 2 of mine got issues on their own
It makes more sense to get new ones
can you test it on another device?
Else the keys are wrong, i had it some time too on a costum rom
Check the pin on your earphones for any damage like deep scratches

I have a similar problem: After updating to IceColdSandwich, my original HTC headphones don't work, but Bluetooth Headset is fine.
Anyone know how to fix that?
Same for me... Think its caused by IceColdSandwich... It worked perfectly before on RunnyDroid... Maybe it will be fixed in next Version?!
why do my calls sound different (bad) than music or other audio?
I had the same problem with mine HTC headphones. I just threw them and bought new ones. You could try to get them repaired but I dont think its worth it. You can buy better headphones.
If you call up HTC and give them ur imei they'll send you out a new pair.

Using headphones on charger port

Can I use the charger port to listen songs via headphones that could fit into the port on tipo
My previous phone's headphone matches my charger port on tipo,so I got this doubt when I saw the headphones today?

I think it's impossible. Because hardware support not available to do like that.

Can anyone tell that an ordinary headphones (i.e. headphones Without microphone) from philips or panasonic be used with Xperia J, or it will damage the internal hardware?
Thanks

How to make DIY charging dock

First of all sorry for my bad english
The things that you need to fabricate charging dock are as follows:
1) Old CD case
2) Old sony ericsson data cable
3) Some fast glue
1) Disassemble CD case in order to use only the back side
2) From data cable remove plastic fixing legs
3) Mesure with the phone and mark the correct position of the cable ( the picture of the cable should be upwards)
4) Using some fast glue bond the connector to de CD case and voalla the dock is ready
And hese are the pictures. Maybe tomorrow i will make it like stand but for now is working ok for night charging
ht
Yeah, nice work!

There are other DIY charging systems.

Ok if possible delete my tread i will continue posting in another
It works! But, what's the voltage? Isn't it low?
Why would the voltage be low? USB is a standarized port so there's no difference between chargers when it comes to voltage.
The other thing is the current that varies from 500mA (USB 2.0 port) and 900mA (3.0 port) up to 3mA. The current depends on the charger not the cable.
I tried making this and the charging time takes a long time. I am gaining about 10% per hour. Is this normal?

Depends. Which charger do y use, more precisely how many amps does it output? Maybe you contact surfaces are to small. A pic would be welcome

I don't think the charger has any effect, I believe the pins are set up to draw a maximum of 1A, probably due to it being a dock, it wants to "slow" charge.
As for it taking a long time, I found that the cable had a huge effect, switching to a better cable made it charge correctly.

I am using the stock charger. It would probably be the contact point. I don't want to scrach my XZ so I didn't push it all the way down. I'll try again when I get home

Ah, correct, wiring, to small section causes more energy loss. So taking a thicker wire isn't l luxury. But standard usb wire should work.(I used a Sony Ericsson fastport data wire)
Could also be the soldering, if it isn't sold properly you get bad contracts.
I'm using a 750mA charge ( from the x10) and it never takes so long to charge even over my custom system running a sleep taking app over night.

The connector was called FastPort, so look for something like FastPort usb data wire

Does anyone have any ideas because I found an old DIY speaker and I was wondering if anyone had ideas for a dock in which it could be used.
Sent from my C6603 using xda app-developers app
I wanted the same dock+speaker end result so I ended up using my BT speaker and using tasker (but can use smart connect) to auto on BT when docked which it then reconnects to speaker when in range then turns BT off when undocked. Obviously totally different than wjatbtou have to work with but I already had the speaker so it cost me nothing to do.

Hi, I would go with something like the attachment. Using a sbh20(or similar) for wireless sound transmission. Speaker on the side. ( if you thing is stereo, one on each side), and the phone in landscape mode on a inclined surface with the pins on the bottom.

Awful charger for the Sony SW (1st gen)

The charger lead for the 1st gen Sony SmartWatch is dreadful! Barely makes contact unless you physically squeeze the watch and the back-clip together. I'm guessing there's no better alternative, due to the fact it's a non-standard connector, but thought I'd ask??
Same for me but they had changed the design in smartwatch 2 because of awful design in first version. I have the same problem while charging.

It's rubbish isn't it!
Thing is, I don't use it enough to warrant upgrading to the Smartwatch 2 - which I'm aware uses a standard micro-USB port - as I only use it when I go running which is very rare, so like I said no point me upgrading.
Just frustrates me how flimsy the connection is, it never gets a proper charge because of it.

You can solve it by rubbing the hole gently with some none sharp metal. No need to squeeze your watch so hard. It will charging normally.
There was in this forum explained a way to make the charger as mini usb but I'm not able to found it now :S

I clip a clothespin on it when I charge it. It's not pretty, but it's simple and it works.
I also have the Smartwatch mn2 and the charging connection is not very good. You can say what you like about the Live View but at least it uses a micro USB connection.

Recommend a bluetooth mic recording app

Hey
So I wanna record the audio through a bluetooth headset mic I have while shooting video and since i haven't found a way to do it in standard cam app I'm looking for a good app that let's me record audio through bluetooth with good audio quality settings if possible.
Thanks

I'd be surprised if a Bluetooth headset mic would do better than the mics on the S9+ themselves.
The camera app WILL work with a regular mic plugged into the headphone jack, but not a Bluetooth one.

Right.. thanks man. Yeah I would imagine one would need to buy a specific external mic to really benefit.
