I was doing some research and i was wondering how to install Android on a pc/laptop with root. Any suggestions would be great
Do you want to run Android as main OS or running as emulator?
You can install that via. Nox Player
I havent really decided yet but leaning more towards as a primary OS

If you're planning on installing an android is on windows, a good one to check out is Remix OS. I personally haven't used it before but its apparently the only fully functional Android OS for pcs.
Might be worth giving it a look!
Ill probably run it as a secondary at first to get an idea of hardware/software compatibility first

What would all have to be done to get the Danger OS from the Sidekick to the Android operating system on the rooted G1? Would it be too much work to actually get it up and running?
I don't think it's open source, and it's a giant piece of crap. What the hell would be the point of putting a garbage OS on an Android device?

If you wanted the Danger OS you should have bought a sidekick. The g1 can only run linux and Android is THE BEST linux distro out there. I can't wait until HP makes that netbook with android

You simply can't install a new android version of the original (Stock) Rom for your device unless your phone manufacturer gives the update for that particular device. But if your phone is rooted and bootloader is unlocked, you could search for custom roms for you device which could be flashed to your device use clockworkmod or by any specic flashing software for your device

so in order to get a higher version of android the carrier you have has to accept a update from the oem (Original equipment manufacturer) or you can root it and get a custom rom which is pretty much the same thing only its less professional and opens source so people can do whatever they want with it. i found a guide on xda on how to root it and get a custom recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2215966

actually my phone is already rooted and im already using teamburst rom.. and there is no other rom around there so what iwanted actually is to maybe install or developed a kitkat for my device cause it says that kitkat can run smooth even at a low spec phone like mine. .anyway as for the update from my phone manufacturer it seem it will never gonna happen they seem dont care about any of that , what important to them is to sell the phone and that is that.. most people here seem dont mind that but i do. .i know the answer to my question i know also what to do. .i just dont have the resources for now. .a lot of people use the same phone as mine that looking for the same answer as i do if only we could unite to do this project. .but maybe they just buy new device
Hey guys I am fairly new to android and really new to this rooting and custom rom thing and I've been doing my research with what a rooted android w/ custom rom could look like and what it could further do.
I was hoping that my rooted phone is compatible with Custom Roms like Cyanogen Mod, AOKP, etc. Unfortunately my phone isn't listed in any listed devices in the well known Custom Rom Sites but I still proceeded with installing Cyanogen Mod since everyone seems to be using it. I don't even know if there are more of these eye candy useful mods that makes the ios look miserably locked up while hoping at least one of these custom rom is compatible with my crappy awesome phone. But upon installation process of Cyanogen Mod WITHOUT awareness that it really isn't compatible, it stated in that page that I could (STILL)use their Custom Rom at my own risk. Beyond that I stopped the installation process in fear of destroying my phone.
I was wondering whether you guys could enlighten me about the compatibility of Huawei Y220-U10 to Custom Roms. I've seen Huawei Y210's on youtube that's using a custom rom but unfortunately ALL of them who's demonstrating their phones are speaking in Spanish. I also installed ROM Installer but I can't seem to see 'FEATURED'? Maybe because it's the free version?
Now I am willing to take the risk, starting from the bottom meaning derooting my phone, wiping it clean, rerooting it and flashing that Custom Rom but I'm seeking advice from much more experienced users because if you guys tell me that it is a BIG NO NO I guess I'll just have to stick with the Go Launcher and wait until I get a much better, stronger, faster android smartphone which has a friendlier compatibility to everything android. And how come I can't access facebook nor yahoo from any web browser in my phone? is it a virus? Please clarify my theories.
Much Regards, Jom
P.S. Phone is running at 2.3.6 and rooted with Kingo Android ROOT
Hello @Jom Apa Welcome to Android / XDA!
"BIG NO NO!" You can't flash ROMs not made for your device because of the underlying hardware incompatibilities. You might completely kill your phone.
Give me a few minutes while I search for ROMs you can use
UPDATE: Unfortunately I haven't been able to find any custom firmware for your device nor Github entries for the chipset used. Seems you'll either have to stick with stock or create your own custom ROMs there are a lot of support here on XDA, Let the learning begin!
Cheers!
Hi
I have installed many custom roms on my LG G2 VS-980 and enjoyed alot, I was thinking that if there is any way to install windows as a custom using TWRP, if there is than it would be really great for any one who wants to switch OS without compromising their own devices...

No, smartphones are designed to work with certain Operating Systems , it's the same thing as wanting to install the Apple OS on the phone. Each Operating System will be looking for certain hardware components in the phone that it's designed to work with. Though it is possible to theme roms to make it look like a windows phone.
Please press thank button if I helped you.
I have an old OnePlus One that still works, and I'd like to repurpose it for a child. Which stable ROM do you guys recommend? I see a Lineage 18 out there with Android 11 for the OnePlus. My only requirement is that I'm able to get updated Google apps so I can install Family Link. It currently has the old stock OS. It's been a long time since I've messed with TWRP or flashing a ROM on a phone (like 7 years). I remember some of the basics but I need some real hand holding to remember how to get through the whole process. I found https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/bacon/install which seems to be pretty helpful.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
