Amplify - Google Pixel Questions & Answers

Anyone get Amplify working on their rooted Pixel? When I try, it says the device isn't rooted.

I don't use amplify, but I downloaded it to see if it worked. It asks for su permission, which I granted, but once it is running says no root. So, same result you're finding.

I'm pretty sure it requires Xposed which has yet to be released

Does anyone know????
Look, I have nothing against SuperUser, I just don't use it. I prefer SuperSu. I recommend grabbing that from the playstore.
You'll have the current version and then just grab joeykrims root checker basic and verify root access. I'm willing to bet that will simplify
things for you.

That's what I use and on the update it's saying that you have to re-root
Oh, gotcha. I just assumed you meant specifically the SuperUser app. Ok. I vaguely remember seeing that message last time I updated it but I didn't have any problems. I just updated and it worked. I think its only a problem in some situations. So I still say use use rootchecker and if it verifies root access then you're good to go. IF it says you do not have root then you should do some more reading and see what other people have done to fix it.

[Q] Isis Wallet workaround for rooted G3

So I have my G3 rooted and when I open up Isis Wallet, it tells me that its not supported with rooted devices. So I did some searching around and found the app Root Cloak that will disable that notification. So installed the app and then opened up Isis and it worked perfectly. But its seems like the workaround only sticks for a couple of hours and then when you try to use it again it gives you the same error about not supported by a rooted device. Does anyone else have another solution or mod that they have done in order to get this to work permanently?
I'm doing the same thing and it hasn't failed yet. what root method did you use? I'm using towelroot

you just add isis to root cloak then force close isis/reboot, profit.
not sure why it's not working for you

Root Cloak ISIS
I'm using a LG G3 (ATT - LG-D850), and towel root. I can't get ISIS to ignore the root.
I've followed the instruction. repo xposed info/module/com.devadvance.rootcloak, but to no avail.
Anyone have the similar problem?
I'm assuming you have xposed installed and working? installed rootcloak, enabled it in xposed and rebooted? then open rootcloak and add isis to the list, reboot once more and all should be good.
if not, try deleting the cache/user data for isis, perhaps it marked you as rooted and doesn't check again, this would fix that.

[Q] Weaksauce2 Failing to Root

I'm brand new to android so excuse my lack of knowledge but I recently attempted to install Weaksauce2 and Supersu. I tried checking if it was installed properly with Root Checker but it says it was not. I don't understand because when I open Weaksauce2 and click "I Agree", I get a notification that says "Root Activated".
I'm sorry if this is a very simple issue but I don't want to destroy my new phone and couldn't find anything about this on the forums. Thank you in advance.

Still on 4.4.4. I installed Weaksauce2 after transferring it from my computer and then installed Superdu afterwards. I thought the root was successful but then I got Root Checker and it said it was not installed properly.
Is it safe to uninstall Weaksauce and try installing it again?

Yes. You're not going to hurt anything by reinstalling. It took me a couple tries. Just make sure that you don't attempt to update the su bin when you install supersu. The update will fail, but the installed version will work.

You should check if sunshine will work on your device by running it. If you are able to use it.. your root will be permanent.

I tried it a couple of more times and it worked, so I thank you for the information. I wasn't sure if there was some steps I needed to take before uninstalling it.
As for Sunshine, I'd like to ease into rooting and feel around a bit before I pull the trigger on purchasing it. I'm sure I'll find some ROMs I'd like to install, so I'll probably grab it soon.
You can't install ROMs without it right? I don't think you can get a recovery tool without being in S-off, although I'm not sure.
Also, as a follow up question, if I install a third party app, will anything bad happen if the device shuts off? I know Weaksauce is temporary so I'm not sure what would happen if the device shuts off while an app that requires root is installed.
Again, thank you for all the help.
Hmm, it seems the issue actually hasn't been solved. When I used Root Check, it said it was successfully rooted, but Root Checker said it was not. When I tried to run Titanium Backup, an error message appeared saying it could not acquire root privileges. Busybox also says it could not get permission from SuperSU, even though SuperSU asked me to grant permission for it and I said yes.
I'm really not sure what's going on.

Okay. I can still use Titanium Backup though right? Regardless, I can't achieve root access so I can't use it anyway. I was looking for a guide on how to use WeakSauce but it really does seem as simple as installing it, running it, and then installing SuperSU. Again, this is my first day on Android so if there's something obvious that I could be missing, feel free to let me know. Sorry for all the trouble.

I'm VZW M8 4.4.4, Sunshine fails but I am TempRooted with WS2. Pounding away since getting the phone I had ChainfireSU installed but it could not update binaries. I also installed BusyBox. I uninstalled both thinking they were screwing up SS. It appears I still have the SS SU Helper APK installed. RootChecker shows me rooted with SU in /system/xbin/su and BusyBox installed in /system/xbin/busybox. Either WS2 or SS 2.8.4 re-roots me at each boot. I think WS is included in SS and will give TempRoot too. I do have redo any changes I've made such as renaming the HTC update files as they get replaced by HTC. Things like TiBU and ES File Explorer root requiring options work. Things like Xposed don't.
Don't know how I got here as I tried all sorts of combos until it sunk in that SS 2.8.4 just was not going to work on my phone.

Android Pay not working

Anyone else have an issue getting Android Pay to work? I keep getting a message that it might not be compatible. Maybe because the device is rooted? Mine is a T Mobile unit.
Same here. Not sure what to do. I tried disabling root from superusersu with no success. Some people are saying to disable xposed but I havent tried that yet.
Yeah, I got it to work on my rooted n7, but not my phone. First it was a network error that I solved by uninstalling play services, but now it can't see the android software type or whatever.
Disabling root maybe doesn't work for us because of using a rooted rom? Idk how that works...

Yes, disable Xposed.
O\I'm on a Lg G3 with a custom rom and disabling Xposed and then disabling/hiding root allowed me to add cards.
Once that was done I put root and xposed back and used the cloak module.
Now I can use pay but can't add new cards unless I disable Xposed and root.

I just uninstalled Xposed and unchecked the box in SuperSU and it didn't work. I restarted to be sure, and I tried using the RootCloak module in Xposed.
I don't know what xposed is, and I'm pretty sure I'm not using it, so that might not be it.

Just curious if you used kingroot. I did and I think it may be why even though I disable root it's still not working.

Actually, I hadn't fully uninstalled Xposed. I also used Kingroot, but used one of the flashable zips to install xposed, which I needed to use the uninstaller zip to completely remove. Once xposed was properly uninstalled and SuperSU was disabled in settings I was able to set up Android Pay.
Tried again and it allowed me to add a card while SuperSU was disabled.

How to hide root?

Hi everyone,
did anybody manage to hide root for some apps (banking - pushtan)?
I've read about suhide but i cant make it work, im not even sure if systemless supersu is working (if its really systemless or not).
Other apps like root cloak dont work..
Thanks in advance
LS
The only solution I found so far is Magisk v6 (v7 does not work). It works for some apps (but not for Pokemon GO any more), but I think it will not work any more at all because of the latest changes with SafetyNet.
You can try SuperSU v2.78 R1 with suhide, but you will need Android 6 with TWRP 3.x or FlashFire.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/suhide-t3450396
Are you using one of the said 'solutions' to hide your root? Idc about pogo, its all about banking apps.
Well i tried magisk v7, but no success.
I have 2.78. SR1 installed, but im not sure if im systemless or not. I also have Android 6 and TWRP 3.0.2.0 but i cant flash suhide.
I've read some (or alot) about hiding root, also with phhs superuser but i cant make it work on my H6 L04. Thats why i'm asking here . I know that Huawei devices like it the hard way..

You really should have read the Magisk-Thread, there is clearly stated for v7 in the changelog: "Remove root management API; both SuperSU and phh has their own superior solutions"

AFAIK there is no fully working TWRP 3.x version for the H60-Lxx, that's the reason probably.
Since you have Android 6 maybe you can try to flash with FlashFire.
Hehe, you're right i did not fully read those Magisk threads but what you quoted was only about the root management - the apps supersu and superuser itself - so v7 should work.
I'll take a look at the future goings off those apps.
There is a 3.x TWRP for our Honor, its also on the official TWRP website. I never had any problems with this, except the bug where touch wont work anymore till reboot in recovery.
Also no success with flashfire, so i guess its (supersu) just not fully systemless, eventhough the app says so.
I've hoped (or thought) that its just a huawei/emui 'problem'.

It's been a long time for me to use honor 6 (soft bricked it beyond repair ) so don't remember exactly, but for my honor 7, this trick always works no matter what.

Well i just flashed paulobriens RC3 which should be the same as on the official TWRP website,as hes the maintainer.
So now i managed to flash suhide 0.54 on top of systemless 2.78 SR1, but im bootlooping. Maybe because of tops xposed 86.2.
This combo shouldnt need any magisk so i'll take a closer look when i got a pc on my hand.
Bump it
Did you try Magisk v8?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445
Magisk wont help much if suhide & xposed makes it loop, i guess .
I would rather not use magisk atm to be honest.
Was hoping someone made it work on honor/huawei.
In the end i'll have to try but when i read the supersu/superuser tgreads it seems like google is doibg oretty "well" anyway.

No, I think banking apps just got better recently. I've made lots of experiments and never managed to hide root from those apps. That´s my big gripe with root.
