How to hide root? - Honor 6, 6 Plus Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
did anybody manage to hide root for some apps (banking - pushtan)?
I've read about suhide but i cant make it work, im not even sure if systemless supersu is working (if its really systemless or not).
Other apps like root cloak dont work..
Thanks in advance
LS

The only solution I found so far is Magisk v6 (v7 does not work). It works for some apps (but not for Pokemon GO any more), but I think it will not work any more at all because of the latest changes with SafetyNet.
You can try SuperSU v2.78 R1 with suhide, but you will need Android 6 with TWRP 3.x or FlashFire.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/suhide-t3450396

Are you using one of the said 'solutions' to hide your root? Idc about pogo, its all about banking apps.
Well i tried magisk v7, but no success.
I have 2.78. SR1 installed, but im not sure if im systemless or not. I also have Android 6 and TWRP 3.0.2.0 but i cant flash suhide.
I've read some (or alot) about hiding root, also with phhs superuser but i cant make it work on my H6 L04. Thats why i'm asking here . I know that Huawei devices like it the hard way..

You really should have read the Magisk-Thread, there is clearly stated for v7 in the changelog: "Remove root management API; both SuperSU and phh has their own superior solutions"

AFAIK there is no fully working TWRP 3.x version for the H60-Lxx, that's the reason probably.
Since you have Android 6 maybe you can try to flash with FlashFire.

Hehe, you're right i did not fully read those Magisk threads but what you quoted was only about the root management - the apps supersu and superuser itself - so v7 should work.
I'll take a look at the future goings off those apps.
There is a 3.x TWRP for our Honor, its also on the official TWRP website. I never had any problems with this, except the bug where touch wont work anymore till reboot in recovery.
Also no success with flashfire, so i guess its (supersu) just not fully systemless, eventhough the app says so.
I've hoped (or thought) that its just a huawei/emui 'problem'.

It's been a long time for me to use honor 6 (soft bricked it beyond repair ) so don't remember exactly, but for my honor 7, this trick always works no matter what.

Well i just flashed paulobriens RC3 which should be the same as on the official TWRP website,as hes the maintainer.

So now i managed to flash suhide 0.54 on top of systemless 2.78 SR1, but im bootlooping. Maybe because of tops xposed 86.2.
This combo shouldnt need any magisk so i'll take a closer look when i got a pc on my hand.

Bump it

Did you try Magisk v8?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445

Magisk wont help much if suhide & xposed makes it loop, i guess .
I would rather not use magisk atm to be honest.
Was hoping someone made it work on honor/huawei.
In the end i'll have to try but when i read the supersu/superuser tgreads it seems like google is doibg oretty "well" anyway.

No, I think banking apps just got better recently. I've made lots of experiments and never managed to hide root from those apps. That´s my big gripe with root.

Android Pay not working

Anyone else have an issue getting Android Pay to work? I keep getting a message that it might not be compatible. Maybe because the device is rooted? Mine is a T Mobile unit.
Same here. Not sure what to do. I tried disabling root from superusersu with no success. Some people are saying to disable xposed but I havent tried that yet.
Yeah, I got it to work on my rooted n7, but not my phone. First it was a network error that I solved by uninstalling play services, but now it can't see the android software type or whatever.
Disabling root maybe doesn't work for us because of using a rooted rom? Idk how that works...

Yes, disable Xposed.
O\I'm on a Lg G3 with a custom rom and disabling Xposed and then disabling/hiding root allowed me to add cards.
Once that was done I put root and xposed back and used the cloak module.
Now I can use pay but can't add new cards unless I disable Xposed and root.

I just uninstalled Xposed and unchecked the box in SuperSU and it didn't work. I restarted to be sure, and I tried using the RootCloak module in Xposed.
I don't know what xposed is, and I'm pretty sure I'm not using it, so that might not be it.

Actually, I hadn't fully uninstalled Xposed. I also used Kingroot, but used one of the flashable zips to install xposed, which I needed to use the uninstaller zip to completely remove. Once xposed was properly uninstalled and SuperSU was disabled in settings I was able to set up Android Pay.
Tried again and it allowed me to add a card while SuperSU was disabled.

[ NEED HELP] Root Shield k1Wifi Nougat april 1st securety patch

Hey there im looking for a while now but i cant seem to find a legit/trusted way to root my shield. I realy want to root it because i like fully customizing my devices and modifying apps. Please leave links to the right working software versions. I prefer: twrp, super su as the software to root my device. Also adb and the drivers are needed. Im not realy familiar with the new way of rooting. The only device i have ever rooted was a samsung tablet on 4.4 kitkat with a 1 click root app. All help is appreciated!

I don't think you really need them. Pretty sure I rooted the device without installing the Shield drivers. If any issues connecting to the device, than try the drivers.

Magisk is really cool. Magisk Hide works well, although it's turning into a real cat and mouse game, where Google has been updating Safety net to break Magisk Hide, but then topjohnwu updates Magisk Hide to work again. It's a bit annoying, but topjohnwu seems to have a good handle on it, for now.
Magisk also has a bunch of cool modules. Those are mods that can be toggled off and on, so no need to dirty flash ROMs to "uninstall" mods, etc. You can check out the Magisk module collections in the Magisk forum section.
You might also check out the new suhide, if you don't want to switch to Magisk. Apparently suhide will pass Safety Net. But I haven't checked it out, personally.

Depends on what customizations. Depending on what exactly you are doing, yes you might trip Safety Net.

How are you trying to install? After downloading, try to go to "Modules" in the menu, then tap the + icon, and select the module to install.
Also, go into Magisk Manager settings, and make sure "Magisk Core Mode Only" is not selected.
Not all modules work with all devices, and I also think a lot of the modules have not been updated to the new template for Magisk 13, so that might be causing the problem also.
You might try to download a module(s) from the Magisk forum section, and see if you can install it. Once downloaded, I think it should appear in the Magisk "Modules" section, if you tap the + button (as suggested above). Or alternately, I think you can flash in TWRP. The forum has a lot of cool modules that don't appear in the "Download" section of the Magisk Manager app, so I often download them from the forum threads, anyway.

I know nothing about that particular device, so you should post in that device specific (Nexus 5X) forum, for the most accurate info.
In general for most Android phones, rooting should not affect service through your carrier. They might give you some baloney about not providing tech support for rooted devices, or not being able to "activate" it on their network. But as long as the phone already works on your carrier, rooting will not affect your cell service.

Is magisk on my phone systemless?

Hello. I am new to the xda forums. I have successfully rooted my Coolpad catalyst 3622a Android 5.1.1 with kingo root. I then downloaded magisk manager and upgraded to magisk. I used kingo superuser app to remove root which got rid of kingo 14 su and left magisk allowing me to pass safety net with magisk hide so I could play Pokemon go. I was wanting to get systemless Xposed framework on my device again but am not sure I can and play Pokemon go. Is it possible that with magisk 13.3 I can use flashfire in order to flash the Xposed framework on my phone and still play Pokemon go? I can pass safety net check from magisk manager and from saftynet check online. I do not have a custom recovery and am running rooted stock rom. I have had Xposed on this phone before. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

You havent successfully done anything. How did you make #/System R/W? You didnt, it may be "rooted" but you cant do crap with it. All you did was install bloatware and add on your device. Even with the OEM Bootloader unlocked in Settings>Developer> you cant remove any System apps, and that device is JUNK. I had one I tried fixing for a friend. Sell it, and buy a Used S6, or Nexus 6, they are BMW's to the Coolpad's Yugo. Stop playing Pokeman and learn how to use ADB. Your time will be better served.
* About 20 people asked for a copy of the Coolpad 3622a stock firmware and not one of you lazy bastards helped them out? I remember XDA being a site with integrity. Maybe noone intelligent owns a Coolpad...

I can and have uninstalled system apps on my device. Also have Xposed framework. As per your first question even I'll admit I don't know. I used a one click root app and then magisk manager. I do not know how to get the info for the stock firmware or I would gladly post it on xda. I know I can use my root functionality because titanium backup, link to sd, greenify, and Xposed framework and modules for Xposed work perfectly for their intintion.

With lollipop, you have to flash Xposed framework via TWRP. If you're rooted, you can try using Fireflash or Flashify to flash the framework but there is no guarantee that it will work, some devices can flash via the apps and some can't.

Thank you.

I used the app from XDA to install exposed on my cp3622a. Worked great.

which ROM for as close to stock android as possible for SM-G930F

I see a lot of custom ROMs on https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/development but I am not sure which to use. My main goal is to remove all the builtin Samsung apps that I cannot disable/uninstall like Calendar and Internet. I started looking at SuperMan but then saw it has a lot of other enhancements too. I also want to avoid my device being rooted because I have to install apps that won't install if my phone is rooted (GFE/BlackBerry Work).
LineageOS or Resurrection Remix.
Just disable the Samsung apps you don't want. That's the only remedy for you.
SuperMan is probably the closest you'll get to stock. If that's too far off, I'm not really sure of any other options. You could temporarily root and try removing the offending apps, I'm not sure how much the system depends on them.
There's also the option of Magisk (Systemless) root, which shouldn't effect root-adverse apps.
I have rooted stock G930F rom with Magisk and removed close to a 100 system apps. No bugs, no crashes, and it is the best rom there is, if you tweak it right. Btw, you can hide root with Magisk and install your apps.

This is awesome. Any details/links/help on how to install remove those 100 system apps? I I see lots of articles on how to install Magisk so I can probably figure that out but not sure about how to install the system apps.

Please take my advice:
Do NOT root your device.
Cause that has some side effects and nearly no benefits:
You won't be able to encrypt your phone again.
You'll have to install magisk to get some things to work
Do NOT install an AOKP based ROM cause there are severe bluetooth bugs.
Just install "BK Package Disabler (Samsung)" on stockrom and get rid of Samsungs bloatware.
PS:
I'm back to stockrom after installing LOS and I regret that step, cause it tripped the knox-bit.
Perhaps the BT bugs will be fixed in future; then I'll give LOS another shot.
Lol @ this lad above, get your facts straight.
On-topic: I followed root instructions from galaxys7root. For the debloating part, there is a topic called "Debloat your S7" or something like that, which helped me uninstall most of the apps, and the other ones I just uninstalled cause I didn't need them.

Laughing isn't very polite.
On-topic:
How did you get your phone encrypted again?
What are the benefits of being rooted nowadays?
OK, TB would be one thing for me.
And... tinkering.
Do some Google-ing, should get the answers.

Everything I have read says that there are no issues rooting. Lots of folks have done it w/o issues. Maybe yours was a one-off?

Rooting went flawlessly.
I took the TWRP / Magisk way.
OK, loosing all the data is quite normal, when formating data, to get rid of the encryption.
But it trips your knox-fuse with the following consequences:
S-Health does not work anymore. OK, there is a build.prop hack to get it working.
OTA updates will not work anymore.
S-Pay (and others) is said to not work anymore.
Encryption does not work or is risky (look at Chainfires post):
forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72204306&postcount=978
No one knows, how long safetynet will be covered by Magisk. Btw.: Magisk is great!
If I am wrong at any point, pls correct me.
I only rooted to use LOS. But there are too many errors atm.
So I returned to stock and have to live with these issues.
So it depends on your usecase.
If you just want to debloat your stockrom, use BK- disabler.
If you want more, root it.

Can BK disabler disable or uninstall some of the built-in apps like Calendar and Contacts?

Yes. That is the purpose of the app.
And, in my opinion, it works reliable and comfortable.

Yes, that's good, so Samsung won't remove my root or any system apps I am using or adding system apps I removed.

S-Pay doesn't work in our country, so what? It's a fail project anyhow.

Root access

hello to all of you,
So i know there are probably many threads about this, but i just cant get my xz premium rooted. i've been trying for a while now.
Last time i rooted a phone was in the windows mobile 6 time lol.
So i tried to unlock the bootloader with the official sony guide on their site bit it didnt work.
i tried some apps like kingroot and oneclickroot but i quickly found that kingroot only gets adware on my phone and oneclickroot is payed and hell i aint paying for nothing.
I tried some manual methods but also these i cant get to work.
So is there any simple thread on how to root my xz premium ?
side note:
my volume up button is broken but i still got it into fastboot so i got this far.
thanks in advantage.
So now my kbc bank app says my phone is rooted and i can not use it anymore while my phone isnt rooted
