Screen mirroring issue - Sony Xperia XZ Questions & Answers

Hi I have an issue I switched from is back to Android purely for screen mirroring to my Samsung smart TV and downloading..
But I have an issue it keeps really lagging and freezing on the TV but is smooth on the handset then it disconnects I was able to do this on a previous Samsung and one plus one can anybody help me please Thank you

Anyone it's a bit of a deal breaker at the moment for me as it literally freezes and ends ?

Sorry I can't help you, but I have the same issue as well as terrible WiFi connection stability. Sony don't care, or they don't know how to fix it and it doesn't look like they're going to. We took a risk and went for a Sony, and now we're paying the price. Get a Samsung again. I know I will. Never had any issues with the Note 5, S5, S4 or S3

Hi there, as an owner of a Galaxy S2 i can confirm i dont have any such issues, in the Galaxy S2 specific forum it is very rare to have a faulty phone, i would suggest it is definitely an issue with that specific phone you have. the S2 is the best phone out at the moment, would suggest having it exchanged for a replacement because that is definitely a problem with either the phones hardware or how android is working on your phone.
my hard luck samsung said motherboard is faulty but they said they will replace it or refund it lets see :S even after spending 570EUR u have to suffer as customer

wireless display (miracast)

am i the only one having issues getting my n5 to connect via miracast to my TV (Sony) and headunit (eonon) my g2 connected fine, but the n5 sits on connecting, on the car headunit it shows various steps to connecting and hangs on "waiting for rtsp"
i'm wondering if this is a 4.4 issue, or a n5 issue...
i'm bone stock on the n5 (no root, locked bootloader)

I went from a Galaxy nexus to an N5 and a lot of stuff broke. My voice dialer for one and wifi is wonky for another. Wireless charging heats up the battery so much I've quit using it.
I really like the g2 and thought about returning the N5 and getting one. Only problem is that when the G2 gets kitkat all of the problems I'm having may very well come back. I hope that isn't the case with Miracast as well although LG will probably do better testing.
Good luck with Miracast. Sorry I don't have a way to test it for you.

I tried it on my friend's LG TV and my own Samsung and neither would get very far - hope it's a simple software bug
What TV you guys using for miracast... My LG TV says wireless display but nothing about miracast

so the n4 and n7 on 4.3 work okay but your n5 on 4.4 doesn't?
if so it makes me feel a little better than it's just a software issue that (hopefully) is cleared up soon in an update
Maybe. Both the N5 and 4.4 are different from n4 and 4.3. could be a HW issue. Likely a SW problem.

I think there's a little confusion here - I understood this to mean:
You have the same problem with wireless connectivity - this is the same as I have noticed that with my N5 and my friends N4, neither of us could connect
With a cable the N4 and N7 work ok - I would expect this to be the case anyway, although I can't test my N5 with a cable as I don't have the USB to HDMI adapter (only one for my old GNex which was MHL which isn't compatible).
i feel like it's less of a hardware issue since miracast worked fine on my g2 and my note3 which are using the same SoC as the n5. maybe i'll try to flash 4.3 back onto my n7 and see if that connects.
is there any way to send this issue to google so they can be made aware of it?
and of course when i decide to do a logcat to see if i can see what's going on when it's trying to connect the phone (and tablet) decide not to see the tv at all for some reason.
Mis understood

Not what I meant to say. The N4 and N7 work as a wireless display over WiFi as expected.

Tried to connect my N5 to Panasonic BluRay Model 230 - it finds the device, and then when you try to connect it just sits there, and sits there....
Honestly, where the hell is the V&V testing ?

good to know, so it seems to be a 4.4 issue more than a hardware issue.
maybe i'll downgrade my n7 today to test it out. (i was going to do it before but then the 4.4 update was officially released and of course i had to flash that first!)
i also emailed google support today to see what they have to say. it's frustrating not being able to use it in the car since i don't like the actual UI of my headunit.

Could be the make and model of the TV as well. I have an LG LA6200 and my N5 connected to it in about 3 seconds. Watched some youtube just for fun. It works fine on mine.
Edit: Asylum OMNI and Faux latest.

Hmm if a custom kernel might help it might be enough to get me to unlock the boot loader and have to set up everything again...

it's pretty nice, it matches and fits in my GTI really well and looks very stock in terms of dials and finish, which i like.
i haven't had it long enough to comment on durability, but so far, i haven't had any issues with it. the UI is pretty responsive and quick (i loaded iGO maps onto it for navigation and it's much more responsive than the stock nav that i had before, i'm legitimately impressed with the navigation fluidity.
the radio reception is worse than stock, but the stock HU uses a dual antenna setup, so it's always going to get better reception, but personally i don't listen to the radio if i can help it. SD card mp3 playback is just as good as stock and sounds fine.
A2DP works fine, but you don't get any id3 metadata, which sucks, but it's fine, it connects to the phone very fast and hasn't dropped the connection once.
the dlna app crashes on my n5, i might try the iphone version on my 5s just to see how it works, but i get all my music from google play so i don't know if that will work anyways.
what i bought it for (miralink) i haven't gotten to work on my n5, but hopefully that will work soon and work well enough, because i would much rather use google maps and the play music app through the HU screen. those two things working even 90% of the time and i'll be a very happy camper.
overall for around $300 shipped to my door, it's really not a bad unit.

Awesome man, thanks for the info!
Does miracast work then? I'm thinking of getting a dongle, or should I just use slimport

Anyone else have a 2013 lg TV with miracast? I just got one and there is a 10-15 second lag. Its pretty much worthless.
Is there something I'm missing?

i've tried it with faux's kernel and francos, both don't work for either of my devices. i emailed google and they replied with troubleshooting info but i haven't had a chance to reply to them and try what they have said (really basic stuff, i don't think it will help)
i refuse to go to crappy crappy touchwiz to make this work, but it makes me sad that i can't use my headunit like i want to.

Does anyone else feel like Kit Kat is a very buggy OS and not ready for release?

I love my new nexus 5. The hardware is amazing. But it stops there. Kit Kat is complete junk. Keeps on crashing. Things like YouTube doesn't even work correctly. My signal keeps dropping. So many features missing. It just feels like Google rushed in making the latest version. Anyone else feel this way?

99% of the time all is good BUT you know this is a NEXUS device?! We are the beta testers. There will be issues.
nope.. nexus 5 plus kitkat make the killer android experience..
Everything works well to me, no problems, i think that it's definitely better than JB 4.3.
I come from a Gnex.
I've actually found that apps like Facebook and anything that requires scrolling really works much more smoothly on the Nexus 5. In terms of the OS, I must say I haven't really enountered any bugs myself, apart from Google Services using up 30% of my battery.. but I think I have fixed that now. I am really happy, and so is my 41 year old mother that has one too :silly:
I've had none of those problems.
I too have yet to find a bug. I admit that I do expect bugs, but not really found one yet,.
everything very nice here thank you
My only issue with Kit Kat and the Nexus 5 has been with Location Reporting - other than that Kit Kat feels slick and polished. Haven't experienced anything you of the issues you complained about.
Overall it's been great. Very fast and smooth.
YouTube and Google Now are the only things giving me problems so far. Google Now is worse on KitKat for me.
No issues so far
I've no problems so far. It has captured bug reports at times, but for what I never checked. Feels like an upgrade to jelly bean for me.

Try doing a force media scan. I bet the process will crash...
Try changing radio bands via *#*#4636*#*# under phone information menu. i bet i will crash...
try selecting an mp3 as alarm ring-tone.. using the app best alarm you cant were as before with jelly bean you could...
try watching netflix without earbuds... you can barely hear it..!
the phone over heats when using wireless charging pads.
exchange processes crash all the time
spontaneous reboots galore
speakerphone sound just sucks
colors are washed out...
if its true that this is a phone for beta testers, the Google shouldn't market it for the main stream buyers like me. i just want a nice phone (hardware wise this phone is) that works...
returning the Nexus 5 today and going back to Samsung even if it costs double the money. My galaxy s2 lasted me around 3 years and cant complain about it...

Try changing radio bands via *#*#4636*#*# under phone information menu. i bet i will crash... - That's been broken since 4.1 IIRC
try selecting an mp3 as alarm ring-tone.. using the app best alarm you cant were as before with jelly bean you could... - Using Sleep as Android I can select an mp3 just fine. Seems that app hasn't been optimized for 4.4. That isn't the phones fault.
try watching netflix without earbuds... you can barely hear it..! - No issues here
the phone over heats when using wireless charging pads. - Never used one
exchange processes crash all the time - I've had no crashes
spontaneous reboots galore - Never even had one random reboot.
speakerphone sound just sucks - Speaker is perfectly fine on my end. Coming from an S3, it's a huge step up
colors are washed out... - No, they're not. They're a more accurate reproduction than AMOLED panels or other oversaturated displays.

Responses in bold. Maybe you should re flash the stock image and see if that fixes any of your problems. I have literally had NONE of the problems you mentioned. And this screen destroys the S3s in every single way.

That happens when you push vol up + vol down + power at the same time. There are a lot of issues with cases making this happen. Still trying to find a way to disable it.
ive had force closes. but whatever. it's a very nice phone.
No issue for now whit stock rom, very few FC with custom rom, fine by me
Not at all. Polar opposite. It's the most polished android os yet imo
NX5
Well, my issues are:
a) Screen wakes for no apparent reason from time to time. Cannot pinpoint a trigger.
b) Google Services using plenty of battery, as well as just last night, on airplane mode, 11% 'Device Idle' usgae in 7 hours.
c) Sound on video recordings is EFFED.
Other than these, overall I am happy. I am confident updates will fix these.

not for beta testers per se... but nexus started as development phones and kinda a guide for manufacturers. samsung never followed that guide which has made the development communities rather frustrated, but why should they, samsung make cpu's that do more per clock cycle than the competition, unless you buy a usa phone where they just use the same processors as the competition.
samsung makes fantastic hardware. if i had an i9100 with nfc i'd be using it today with it's low res screen and all. perfect phone. not too big, and basically defined all phones after it, from nfc, to usb OTG, to mhl. it was a great phone then they went all crazy with the rom on the s3 and s4.
even the samsung nexus phones weren't quite what their own line were.
the nexus brand is a bare feature set that manufacturers can work from. and lg makes a pretty piss poor build quality (opinion, some say the same about samsung, those people are wrong of coarse ), but i like the feature set without it getting gimmicky (but s-beam is cool, makes more sense to use wifi with nfc being more of a trigger, android beam seems like they missed out on something pretty obvious.) it's not a bad phone but not a ground breaking device either. the screen does wash out with viewing angle more than some other lcd type screens but for $350 did you expect pixel density as well as a high qulity panel? and maybe you are used to amoled, i am, but i think the nexus screen looks as it should. the phone is delicate, the camera firmware needs work.. these are all true things. but some of what you describe is probably cause for an RMA. the speaker, that's a build defect. not all of them are like that and mine is as loud as any phone i ever owned (louder actually but i never had a "one") so there are 2 things you can cross out because they may take it under warranty. my phone doesn't over heat on my samsung Qi charger, it work perfectly, there is slight heating but that is expected for putting an inductive coil on osmetihng that contains metal parts... no overheating on mine, just comfortable warmth.... are you using a cheap charger? there is a communication standard that is part of QI and the phone regulates the transmitter output with feedback, it's possible that some of the cheap chargers aren't following the Qi standards. as far as the alarm app not working, well it's a new os, interfaces change, things break, deal with it untill the market place catches up. that's like upgrading windows and the printer stops working... if the phone reboots it may be a hardware defect, you should RMA the phone or i'm sure someone will buy it from you.

Samsung Galaxy Core 2 input/touchscreen lag

Hello,
I have just bought my first android phone, Samsung core 2.
The problem is, it works very smooth, but there is very noticeable input lag on touchscreen. During surfing internet or playing a game, when I touch screen there is 0.3-0.5 seconds until it is registered. That delay is very annoying when texting and gaming. I have tried out my friend's Core 2 and he does not have this problem. Many other phones that are lot worse than it have almost instant touchscreen response, yet my phone sucks when it comes to that.
I bought it only like 3 days ago and they won't return my money or replace the phone. Only thing they offered is "we can "do" software on your phone" (I do not know what they meant by that). So I'm stuck with this phone which otherwise works nice but has this horrible touchscreen input lag.
Are there any things which can help me to make touchscreen response faster? Like flashing custom ROM on it or something? Did anyone else have similar problem with it?

Hi,
In your settings menu find Magnification gestures which is triple tap to zoom. Turn it off and then your input, touchscreen and numberpad dialing will be very smooth.

If u state what version of OS are U using and model and if it's stock launcher with purely ported touchwiz for our phones, try flash/upgrade or use the custom roms if available.

S6 Gyroscope problem

Hello guys. Yesterday I bought a Samsung Galaxy S6, the "normal" S6. I bought it from a guy, tested it 2 times everything fine but today I discovered that the rotation is not working properly. When i dial *#0*# and test the sensors, all pass but the gyro test fails. The phone doesn't have warranty, and I wanna know guys if you also got this problem and if you fixed it. If not, I could replace the gyroscope/accelerometer or what the heck is not working in a GSM service?
A friend told me that if the sensors are damaged then the phone can't be repaired. Please help me if you can. ?
PS: Sorry if I typed wrong.
If your friend doesn't repair phones for a living, then perhaps you should ask someone who does if it's repairable....

Changing rom doesn't solve it? I haven't tried this yet..
It is possible that it could be a software glitch. I had the issue with my ex-S6 Edge, I got it fixed by telling Samsung to reinstall the firmware for me.
I now have an S6, I used Samsung Smart Switch yesterday to reinstall the firmware on my phone. It fixed some issues I had along with less heat and better battery runtime. I suggest you do the same, it's worth a try.
Just be sure to charge your phone to 100% and use *only* the original USB cable from Samsung. You could end up with a bricked phone if you use third party cables, other users have ended up with such fate.

I have the original cable, but if I use it there are no chances of bricking it right? I did 3 factory resets already, and I cand replace the sensor with problems, it will cost me pretty much. I also have something with the camera. It looks like it takes whiter pictures, I think. I'm going tomorrow in a store to see another S6, to see if the cameras are the same.

If your phone isn't rooted, if you haven't tripped KNOX. Then you should be good to use Samsung Smart Switch to reinstall the firmware. I used it just about four days ago to reinstall the firmware on my S6. Solved many problems for me. It's worth a shot before replacing the hardware.
