Does Nova launcher stop stock launcher process? - General Questions and Answers

If you install Nova launcher and select it as the default launcher, does it stop the phone's stock one running (freeing up resources)? Thanks.

No, it just defaults to your chosen launcher instead of your stock launcher. Stock launcher is still there in the background. Disabling or removing it causes problems.

I realize I can do that, but I want a seamless experience. I want it to default to adw launcher with a theme and completely bypass the standard launcher.
then delete adw launcher

I think you mean delete the default launcher, but I tried that and the ROM refused for boot.
The launcher shouldn't cause boot issues. Does it boot with the stock launcher?

Yes, it boots fine when the stock launcher is there. LGLauncher.apk
But when I remove it and put ADW Launcher in its place it doesn't get past the boot animation.

Hi to everyone,
I was looking exactly for that... but as far as I (don't) read the question is still open. Can anyone give it a point?
Thank you and have a nice Sunday,
Be sure that ADWLauncher is compiled for the 'matching' Android version. Btw. by using logcat while booting up your phone you would have seen immediately the kind of error ...

[Q] What's the difference between launchers and ROMs?

What's the difference between launchers and ROMs?
Will installing a launcher mess with an installed ROM?
Thanks in advance
Launcher is a UI that lays over the ROM to give a different user experience. Go ahead and try them... they are safe. I recommend nova launcher myself

A launcher is an app. A ROM is the whole system of the phone.
The ROM is all the apps and such on your phone. A launcher only has the interface of your home screens.
A launcher shouldn't mess with your ROM.

I found Apex launcher to be good as well, so you can try that one also.
Will try out Nova which Glacierguy recommended later tonight to see how it looks and works.
Thanks guys. I'll go and play around for a bit now

Download an alternative launcher (Nova is an excellent option). Set it as "Default" in Nova Settings.
You will still have TW Launcher but Nova will now be the main default launcher on your Note.
I hope this helps. Please hit THANKS if it did.
NB - if you are using an alternative launcher and want the TW Launcher removed, sometimes you need to go into Manage Apps and Disable the TW Launcher. From there, use TB or Rom Toolbox to remove. it should be "grayed out" in your App List.

I know I suupose to have the option to select between launcher and launcher 3.

Which GApps did you install? I think when you install the full GApps, it replaces the stock AOSP launcher with the Google Experience Launcher. If you want to keep the stock launcher, you have to install a version of GApps that excludes the GEL.

Could you refer me to good gapps that give me the option to choose between GEL and Cm launcher?
Or at least only GEL?
I am almost 100% that in the older versions of cm you could choose between the launchers...

If you do not want the GEL you can delete the apk from within the zip.

FULL MODULAR PACKAGE
This package is identical to the Google Stock Package above except that it does NOT include Google Keyboard, Google PhotoSphere Camera/Gallery, and will not remove your stock/AOSP Launcher, Keyboard, Browser, or SMS App.
In addition, it also includes Google Bookmark Sync. If you don't have a Nexus device and/or prefer to use the stock/AOSP apps, this package would be perfect for you.

Trebuchet limited to 5 shortcuts in App Dock?

Is there any way to add more than 5 shortcuts? Or do I have to use a different launcher?
If you use fewer Dpi,then i think you can have more apps in shortcuts.
The mod is called nova launcher ?, just kidding, I also would like to have a mod on this.
