New Vulkan API on Exynos 7420

Hello everybody, I don't know if you all are familiar with this new API, it seems like is very promising and I have read that it will bring mobile gaming to a new level. Look for more info on google, its pretty interesting.
Now, the Galaxy S7 is the first phone that will come with this API, my question is, do you think that our phone will support it? For now we have OpenGL ES and Vulkan is gonna be way faster, hopefully will get this, since is just a software update. What you guys think?
So, no body interesting in this matter?
This place is always pretty dead...
I have the new Marshmallow update on my Nvidia Shield TV which has the new Vulkan API. I have not had a chance yet to try a game that utilizes the API but from what I read on the topic, it makes a big difference less processing power required, higher frame-rates, etc. There's a few examples of the API in use on YouTube also that show some side by sides.
According to this article, these are the current games that support the API with Marshmallow. "Real Racing 3, Oddworld Munch’s Oddysee, Minecraft Story Mode, Metal Gear Rising Revengeance, and Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories."
So, now that we have marshmallow, is there any way to get Vulkan on pur phones? Anybody?

It's not available yet
Most likely not. Samsung, I doubt, will be issuing any more updates to this phone that aren't simply minor incremental updates or security patches. I don't believe a developer can make this into a stock rom as well but I could be wrong.
On the extreme side of things, from what I have read, N will is being built with Vulkan in mind or at least to a degree. It might be easier to add it then to a phone on N if the manufacturer doesn't include the API.
I wish I was wrong but given Samsung's track record and how long it took for MM to come, N is going to be a Note 6 and up deal.
Now if we had a viable aosp rom then I would say it's possible but that definately won't happen anytime soon or likely ever.

Aosp COULD happen...RaymanFX has been working on porting cm13 to our device and there's currently folks looking to get him a exynos 7420 dev device in a fundraiser thread that has quite a few donations, and about 2 days ago (maybe 3?) he just merged the pd1 source, if you follow his github, you can maybe decider a little more effectively than myself just how close he is to a booting compile...

Any news???

For anyone interested there's a booting unreleased version of cm13 out...it's buggy and early but it boots! RaymanFX has done a great job with truly uncharted waters!

CM has always had issues, even using Qualcomm SoCs that have the developer documentation behind them that the Exynos does not. I doubt there will ever be a stable CM or any other AOSP build. Stable enough for daily use, maybe, but things will always be broken.

Resurrection Remix vs Dirty Unicorns-which one is more customizable?

Hello dear XDA members!
I have been trying out a lot of ROMs recently and among the ones I tried,I found Resurrection Remix and Dirty Unicorns to be one of the most feature packed ROMs,but can't decide which one is better.
Although Resurrection Remix is official for Moto G3 and DU is unofficial,I would like to ask in general, which ROM works better for you?
I generally like feature packed ROMs which offer lots of tweaks and wouldn't settle for simple ROMs...but it is only my personal opinion.
If you have tried any other ROMs with more customizability than the ones mentioned above,do let me know.
The only thing that makes me prefer RR is Live Display, which wasn't present in DU when I tried it some months ago. But apart from that, I don't find anything else, they both offer a lot of customization. And there is an app in Play Store that does the same as Live Display, but I prefer having that option baked in the ROM.
And being official or unofficial doesn't change the way the ROM works, they are both excellent ROMs in my opinion

[BEST ROM] Best custom rom for s7 and s7 edge

Voted RENOVATE Note 2.0.
I don't want to take anything away from the other ROMs, but RENOVATE Note has been awesome for me in the last ~2 months.
It's in the small details I guess (VoLTE working, Vulkan APIs working, Private Folder working, useless/broken stuff removed from Settings, regular updates, responsive developer, etc.)
I can't wait to see what "RENOVATE Nougat" will look like
Wait, what? I though "Best ROM" threads were not allowed.
What is the best touchwiz s7 stock debloated rom and the best N7 port. I have heard they are all the same
Not to stir the pot or anything, but is this poll just if you do not have all the roms up in the poll? I can think of two very popular rom (one being the most active thread) not listed up there lol.
@nitrous² You will be slightly correct on that, I have seen moderates give leeways when the conversation is adult. Than again, I have seen 99% of those leeway threads closed because it goes from adult to well ya....lol
It'd be good to have a comparrison of features in each rom to determine which is most feature rich, not that im going to do it, i dont have time, but would be nice haha.
Currently on SupermanRom myself
Basic Plus V2.1 coz it's the most battery firendly rom I have even used
Basic Plus
Why is there no superman rom on the options? That's the best one for me.
+1 for SuperMan!
King Rom & Efficient are more great choices
Phoenix Rom

Agreed, I'm not touching mine until official LOS drops. The stock rom is surprisingly good, tons of great features. Huawei did a fantastic job on this phone!

Hi. Agree about sticking with stock for now. Is there a link that describes in detail what features are on Lineage roms. I've looked around and all I find are download sites but little description of rom itself. Thanks!
My opinion is also this is the best stock rom i ever used!

I'm kind of surprised that there isn't any builds or projects going seeing as how Huawei actually released the sources. For many less than popular phones that I've had in the past, not having source codes and drivers was usually the problem. Sadly on this phone, the problem is that so very few people especially devs know about it's excellence Our best and pretty much only hope is something getting ported over from the OpenKirin projects on other Kirin powered phones.
I do agree with the others though that the stock software on this phone is very good, fast, lasts long and isn't obnoxiously skinned liked TouchWiz and LG phones. So it's not the end of the world. I do hope the Mate 10 takes of though seeing as how great the 9 was, I'm all over a 10 when it drops relatively soon!!! :fingers-crossed:

I think this is the problem, HM9 have a great stock ROM, and it is hard to devs to bring something better without compromises.
I tried Mi Mix last few days with different ROMS, and now I'm coming back to HM9 because, it is a better phone overall, the software is very fast and responsive and have little tweaks that are usefull, such as blocking internet access per app (wifi and carrier). The camera software is also very good in my opinion.
I just read that there's a new Reserrection Remix (aosp based rom) for Honor 9. It's the same Kirin 960 chipset.
From https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/development/rom-t3654876
Kernel GPLv2 compliant : This custom ROM, uses a stock EMUI 5.1 (B130) kernel image !
Very sad that there is no Lineage OS, even that now the kernel source is available.
I just bought a Mate 9 L29 second hand (can't take it back now) and I am very disappointed by that damn ugly (G)UI called EMUI 5.1.
I had a EMUI 4 device in the past and I made a MIUI like theme for it combining icons and existing themes. Then I had some Xiaomi devices, and MIUI really is eye candy.
Seeing the damn ugly EMUI GUI (and all those bull**** themes available) I wish I could have an AOSP or Lineage ROM for it.
The hardware is quite good. Display is OK, SoC is kinda fast and the sound system sounds nice.
So, f**** Huawei for messing up that bad regarding the look and feel of EMUI 5(.1) - I had a look at EMUI 8 - it's damn ugly too.
Shame on the Huawei product design team in that case. They had some UI designer from Apple for EMUI 5 (she quit then), and
I wonder how things could have gone so damn wrong. Have a look at pure Android, MIUI or flyme OS or even ZUI or discontinued IUNI os, that is eye candy.
EMUI makes me wanna vomit.

Well, sell it or put a different launcher on the damn thing then, that's one good thing about Android, you're always free to change it. I don't like EMUI either so I run the pixel 2 launcher on mine. As far as lineage goes, unless a developer decides to pick it up you're sol, Huawei might have released the general source to the OS but there is a lot of closed source drivers for the hardware that is not released and unless those drivers are open sourced lineage is out of the question except for the individual developer

What exactly is the problem with the camera in the kernel source released by Huawei?
And how'd you get to know about this, did anyone try to compile the kernel.... or maybe even a rom?
I might try it, but first I want to know this piece of info, to get the picture completed
You can trust me, and if you don't. Just check my profile, I've even made Android 5.1.1 for the S1
So, please give me the needed details, and I might be starting tomorrow
:EDIT:
I have had a quick look, and it looks like the Mate 9 Pro and the Honor 9 uses the exact same rear camera setup (So, both camera's on the back )

Razer phone + Resurrection Remix = Best?

Am I the only one here thinking that resurrection remix would be the best custom rom for the razer phone?
I've used it constantly with my nexus 6p before and it was my favorite rom by far. Sadly since it's a heavy Rom with multiple modification and tweaks and such my nexus had a hard time running it.
Now with the Razer Phone in hand, I simply cannot wait for the custom rom community to burst into motion hoping that RR takes my device once again!
I'd wish beans would do Pure Nexus for razer! It's sleek, powerful, and still has all the features I needed, yet still daily lightweight! Throw on Franco's kernel and the 6p was a beast long past its shelf life.. I can only imagine what the pair would do for this phone
