I was able to add my Debit card (Chase) just fine. No issues whatsoever. I tried to add my Discover Card and it keeps telling my Gear is not responding. I've tried restarting the Gear, Launching Pay from the gear, and I still get the same issue. Upon carefully reading the Gear App setup from my phone, it states Debit and Gift card only. No credit. Upon digging, it says Samsung Pay does in fact accept credit, as well as discover. Is this a limitation of the Pay app for Gear or is this because my phone is rooted? I sadly don't have time today to test to see if it's due to my root (Note 4 Maximum overdrive ROM) and will have to test later, but can anybody confirm or deny if they are getting issues adding Credit cards or Discover cards in particular?

The app for the gear is more restrictive than on their phones. I think it's too allow others who haven't bought a Samsung phone to sway towards their devices for those that like how Samsung pay works. As for root, if the phone detects it then Samsung pay will not work at all, you can't even open it, add any cards, etc.

That may be the actual Samsung Pay app FOR the phone. But the Gear app for the phone and the Pay on on the S3 works with my rooted device. I've already made a payment. I'm confirming it for all of you. Perhaps Samsung will rethink their approach for the Phone app and follow suit.

Yes, I meant for the phone itself. The Gear will still work with root. I'm sorry, I wasn't too specific when explaining that. Root on a phone and using the gear for Samsung pay will work just as well as not having root.

There here is to Sammy realizing this is a good feature and fixes this, because when I decide to trade in my Note 4 for a more recent device, I plan to root; using stock rom, just rooting to debloat. Seeing as the wearable has MST, I suppose it wouldn't be too bad if the phone variants didnt adopt this, as long as the wearable doesn't get patched to prevent this feature.

Where did you read that Samsung Pay supports Discover cards? AFAIK, Discover isn't supported.
On my Gear S3, I've successfully added my Chase and Citibank Visa cards.

Has anyone gotten ISIS working?
My local Verizon store swears that even though jellybean just released today that today they also revoked support for ISIS because of problems.

Google Wallet works better. You should root your phone and try that
Yes I have Google wallet. Wanted to try it ISIS since I live in one of the test areas. Compare the two. Verizon fail all over the place.

You have to have the special NFC sim cards for ISIS to work.

So I picked up an nfc sim. Still nada. Can't see ISIS in mobile market and through Web says my SGS3 is incompatible. Oh well guess I won't compare and I'll just stick with Google wallet.

Incase anyone else is interested Verizon fixed the problem overnight. So you can now install ISIS btw you don't need the nfc sim installed to install the app. Not sure about actually using /setting it up. I believe you will need that sim to do anything in the app.

I'm In Michigan and I installed the app but it would not let me set it up. So I tweeted to verizonsupport and they sent me a SIM card that is compatible with Isis. I received the SIM card today and setup the account. I also recieved the free ten dollars. So now i have to see if it works at a store.
I encourage everybody to pass on ISIS and the carriers bull****.
Help a n00b out... where can you actually use Isis? I have Google Wallet working on my Nexus 7 and have used it at a few places...much to the astonishment of employees and customers... but even there, very limited support.

ISIS supports the same services (paypass, paywave, etc) that wallet supports. So basically you should be able to use it at the same locations.

I just got the OTA from VZW last week and since I saw ISIS in the change list I figured I'd give it a go even though I'm in NY not SLC/Austin.
I called Verizon and they sent me a NFC SIM, and I still had trouble getting it to go but I got it eventually. It was a pain in the neck to set up and add cards but I got it going. On Amex's page about ISIS it says: "Use it where American Express contactless payments are accepted.* Just look for the universal symbol for contactless payments or signs that say "Isis Ready™."
by saying "or" it seems to imply not just in ISIS ready places like SLC/Austin, but anywhere AMEX ExPay is accepted, which is all over the country! I didn't see the same about Chase.
I'll give it a go today in NY and I'll let you know if it worked.
Overall, I must say so far, I like the app better than Google Wallet. It seems like they charge the card direct as opposed to Google which has a system of charging their virtual MC first then charging you, (This could be dis-advantageous regarding benefits that the card would give you, like bonus points at certain category merchants etc.). The only major problem is that it only takes Chase, Amex, and Cap1. but that isn't such a problem for me because I pretty much only use Chase and Amex cards.
I've got it installed, but it will not let me set it up. I live in Pittsburgh, so it may not be a test area. It's strange that it kicks me out of the app though.

Do you have a NFC SIM? you'll need one for it to work and Verizon will send you one free.
I live in New York and I haven't had an issue setting it up.

Update: I successfully used ISIS to pay at a Brooklyn, NY RiteAid store. I had it set to use a Amex card and I checked straight away and there was a pending charge that appeared normal (unlike Google Wallet transactions which would show up as GOOGNFC*name-of-merchant). When I tried to pay, nothing was happening, so I took off the slim case I have on the back of my phone (GW never had any problems working through this case) and then tried again. Even then nothing happened, I was about to give up and began to pull out my wallet to get a real card, when the terminal came to life and said "Processing Contacless Payment". I'm not sure if it managed to read through my case or if it only read after I removed the case, but if it's the latter, that might be due to the fact that ISIS doesn't utilize the built in NFC chip rather it uses the one embedded into the SIM which is obviously much smaller (the built in one relies on an antenna as big as the battery) and therefore has a much shorter range.
The bottom line is so far I still like it better than GW, my only concern is that it mentioned that if it detects unusual root access in the OS, it will not operate. I don't plan on staying stock unrooted for too much longer!

Your Chat
Hello, my name is Kat. I’m happy to assist you with your question regarding your device.
How can I help you today?
kelliepito: Hi my name is Juan I have the galaxy S6 and would like to know if its going support Samsung Pay?
Kat: Hi great question. I can surely check for you. Allow me one moment please to see if there is any information regarding that feature.
Kat: Thank you so much for your patience.
Kat: Samsung
kelliepito: ok
Kat: Here is what I have found according to Samsung site. the s6 is one that does show that it has the nfc detection area on the device. we actually have a special sim card that inserts into that phone to allow the nfc to work
kelliepito: so will Verizon support it?
Kat: I've checked the system on my end, I'm not getting anything about this showing that our device does not support it. We do have all of the requirements for the NFC currently enabled in the device. I'm checking a co-worker phone right now to see if this is something that shows can be downloaded in the play store as I do not see it on the phone
kelliepito: ok thanks
Kat: You are welcome. allow me just another few moments please
Kat: Thank you so much for all of your patience. seems that this is not something that we will support at launch. I've checked the play store to see if there was an application for it and i'm not finding either as well.
Kat: according to the Samsung site right now, ATT, Sprint, Tmobile, and US Cellular are supporting this at launch
kelliepito: NOT GOOD
Kat: The device does have currently the technology inside of it to allow the important piece of the program to work. I would wait to check back on Samsung site as it nears the date to be sure that our phone will support it in full
Kat: Samsung Pay
kelliepito: WHY ONLY VERIZON NOT SUPPORTING IT?
Kat: I really wish that it was something that I could truly tell you. As of right now not every one supports this. It could be some type of incompatibility issue with the network. I'm not all that sure since the program has not yet launched. in my system there are not any information on the samsung pay. You are more than welcome to contact Samsung to see if they have more information on it. but its not to say that we will not support it, as of right now, we do not support it
IIRC, Verizon never got around to supporting Google Wallet and other payment methods for a good long time. Don't they have a proprietary "wallet" app? If it smells like a fish...

they (verizon) have soft card
Android Pay is upcoming with Marshmallow but then again its VZW. SoftCard was bought by Google.
It could be technically the Radios/Modems in the VZW variant that has some incompatibilities but that is doubtful since Sprint uses the same chipset.
my 2 cents
I talked with Verizon again and they really don't have a clue. I've got my rooted S6 on swappa and Samsung Pay was a pretty big selling point for me so I'm kinda happy I lowered the price this am

Your phone is rooted so Samsung Pay won't work on it. Regardless of the carrier. That is one of Samsung's rule on using Samsung Pay. It checks to see if your device is rooted.
Losing root was always a possible side effect of using Samsung Pay. The whole point is now we might have it delayed or not have it all together.

That would require you to make a couple of edits and/or bypass the root validation. If you modified the apk you likely compromised a very important security function as they are tied together. I'm not going into detail as I don't want to be responsible for someone leaked financial information. Don't do it unless you know what you are doing

If I Odin back to stock, I am no longer rooted. I could then take the OTAs to get to OG5. Once Samsung Pay is released I would be good to go. Shouldn't need to modify any apks.

Ok, you've officially lost me. What are you talking about? If I searched out a phone I knew I would be able to root, I sure as heck wouldn't have gotten the S6 on launch day. Just so happened a root method became available shortly after. If Samsung Pay becomes available on the Verizon S6 (assuming I haven't sold the phone) I will unroot it in order to use Samsung Pay.

I did not purchase a rooted phone. Maybe you misread my post. I purchased it on launch day. I then rooted it with ping pong root which does not trip knox. Returning to completely stock is as easy as flashing a tar file in Odin...at that point you are no longer rooted. From there you can take OTAs and when Samsung Pay hits, you'd be able to use it without any problems. Does that clear it up for you?
I never once said anything about being rooted AND using Samsung Pay. I DID say it was easy to unroot so you could use Samsung Pay.
I've found the link to be able to download the Samsung Pay Beta .apk file but I haven't figured out how to get it to install. Does someone else want to try? I'm stuck on a Samsung S6 Edge running 5.0.2. I wonder if you have to have 5.1.1 to run it.

You're correct about it requiring 5.1.1. I don't know if it also checks the version of Knox associated with the latest firmware version but it does check the Android version at least. Until we get root on 5.1.1 for Verizon there will be no way to cloak root for apps that check it.

Samsung Pay after Root

Hello everyone,
I've been hopping around, trying to do some research on this but decided to make a post to confirm and also in hopes of informing others.
Is it true that once rooting the Note 5, we permanently lose Samsung Pay abilities due to tripping the KNOX meter?
Thanks!
Yes, the way Samsung designed Samsung pay is to make it as secure as possible, and unfortunately that includes blocking access on modded devices. Is there a way around this? I belive it would have to involve tricking Knox and I don't think it will be easy.
With that said, the galaxy s6 had a root that didn't trip knox. Even still, had to be extremely careful after that with flashing roms and such but it was b possible.
It's really the only thing that's going to make me think twice about rooting.
Sent from my SM-N920T using XDA Free mobile app
Indeed. I know there are alternatives like PayPal but what about Android Pay? Will we still be able to use that as an alternative, after root?
I dug around the Korean Samsung pay apk that's floating around and I found where it's doing that check, it's just a matter of disabling it and seeing it it works. Also, the string says something to the effect of "this application won't work on rooted devices for security, please unroot your device to use Samsung pay". Notice it says unroot. We'll see what the reality is when we get our hands on the final US apk.
Sent from my SM-N920T using Tapatalk
This is my only concern at this point. While I don't know for sure how much if at all I'll be using Samsung Pay, I don't want to root and trip Knox quite yet so I can at least try it when it's released.
You guys are exactly in my situation. I want root but i think samsung pay might be a nice feature.. speacially sonce it works anywhere eith a card reader, not just tap and go.. only if they swipe only. Some how samsung pay still works... thats awesome

What about if we used root cloak and or Xprivacy on xposed to hide detection of root or somthing? Maybe somone needs to create an app like root cloak that his the detection of it checking if you tripped Knox? Also why is everyone so worried about Samsung Pay Google Wallet allows you to use the app on rooted debices and it does the NFC paying and they send you a physical debit card. You can even send money to people through the app too.
Does Samsung Pay have some extra cool feature that Google Wallet Doesn't? I'm just asking cause I haven't looked into Samsung Pay. In my opinion if a pay system app can't be used on r root I'm not sure if I trust the app because they might think it will be hacked but they need to make it secure on all aspects.
I've been accepted into Samsung Pay beta testing and unfortunately since I've tripped knox this is what happens. I have the apk files for both the app and framework.

I agree 1,000%. Google Wallet is accepted at a lot of places and works well while rooted. If I have to part with Samsung Pay to 1) Turn the camera shutter sound off on my phone via Root Explorer...2) Disable a bunch of Samsung bloat I don't use...3) Have the ability to back up my apps and data as well as restore them...4)Customize my phone using XPosed and Wanam on a deodexed stock rom...etc, then it's not even a close trade off. I'm going with root 3 times out of 4.

Yes, Samsung Pay uses MST (magnetic secure transmission), aka the tech they acquired from LoopPay. This allows you to use your phone to pay at terminals, even if they don't have NFC. It'll emulate the magnetic field created when you physically swipe your card. So, basically it'll work in most places that Google Wallet (or Apple Pay) won't.
Sure, you can just use the Google Wallet card, but if you have it connected to multiple accounts, it's not always easy to remember which one is set as default or to change on the fly the one you want to use. At least with Samsung Pay & the Wallet app, I can choose my card on the fly.
I'm in the beta and raring to go. Sadly my BoA debit card was compromised earlier in the week and so I have to wait for the new one to arrive before I can test.

Sure, you can just use the Google Wallet card, but if you have it connected to multiple accounts, it's not always easy to remember which one is set as default or to change on the fly the one you want to use. At least with Samsung Pay & the Wallet app, I can choose my card on the fly.

So I too have been accepted to the beta for Samsung pay. The only issue is I don't have any qualifying debit or credit cards to add because they don't have that many the day except at this time which is kind of dumb. But you spoke of LoopPay and I had also read that Samsung had acquired that or something like that so I checked in Google Play and sure enough LoopPay is still there so I thought hey if they have this cool feature where you can just use existing card readers and phone acts as a magnetic strip and seeing how the new Samsung phones have a feature built in and that it's possible that it works if you're rooted or if it doesn't it probably just checks for root and in theory you could just use root cloak to hide your route for the app so I thought why not download LoopPay.
So I downloaded Lupe installed it I'm verified my information but then when I go to add cards it says you currently don't have a connecting device to add a card because with LoopPay it requires you to buy a fob that plugs in to where the 3.5 mm or you can also use a card reader in the 3.5 mm which costs around 40 or 50 bucks. If the LoopPay hardware is built into our devices why does it ask me to have these add ons hooked into the 3.5 mm? Why would they do this? that seems pretty stupid if you ask me.
Maybe they can update LoopPay to not have to have the additional hardware that you need to buy. As far as what I've been saying about the app there's no information in Google Play saying that they are emerging over the Samsung pay for that the apps closing but I could be or they just haven't released anything yet. But it would be kind of a stupid move to murder / to Samsung pay for everyone because not everybody has a Samsung device and won't be able to use samsung pay so maybe that's why is not changing or merging.

Just wanted to give you a heads up that you can disable the camera shutter sound even if your bone stock or rooted just by going into the camera settings scrolling to the bottom and tapping the disable shutter sound button. Atleast Its def been in my camera app since the day I purchased my phone. Any who just wanted to point that out. Thanks

Oh that makes sense, bring your Sprint device into a T-Mobile thread and complain
On a serious note, it seems like Sprint takes out quite a few features, kinda sucks. A simple feature for muting the shutter sound? Why remove?

Actually I was just speaking in general as far as people justifying why they root. Its pretty universal as far as what you can and can't do. ?
I actually haven't owned a Samsung device where you could turn the shutter sound off for Sprint. The last one I could was the HTC EVO LTE. Its an easy fix once rooted though. My Gear 2 had no shutter sound option either. I had to root it in order to turn it off. Its something about privacy or something like that. I can easily turn the volume on my Ringer to silent and it will remedy that problem.

[Q] Android Pay: How to bypass/workaround root check on S7?

Hi,
Does anybody know hoe to get Android Pay working on the S7?
It seems on other devices you can simply disable SuperSU to add cards/use app but doesnt seem to work on S7.
Has anybody found a solution for our device?
TIA

Well, I don't use android pay myself, but there is an xposed module called "XTouchwiz" where you can fake the system status and set it to official. It might work, so go and give it a try.

RBS doesn't either, how frustrating! I only have an RBS Visa debit and an Amex, looks like Android Pay isn't meant to be for me.

Samsung pay seems to use different cards, might be listed there

In UK we can switch banks/debits etc very quickly now. All balances/debit agreements are transferred automatically. I'll be moving banks on Monday.
Natwest still have not made announcement on date of adding Android Pay. It's utter incompetence in my opinion not to support it at launch yet they're proudly saying they're the first to support fingerprint.

You can not use Samsung Pay once Knox has been tripped. There is no fix/solution to bypassing Knox check as far as I am aware.

I decided to move to Nationwide, better ISA interest rates, contactless debit card and Android Pay. Makes sense. Anyway, that was off topic.
I can't help but wonder which UK banks will support Samsung Pay when it eventually launches.

Gear Pay, "stay connected to phone" error

After adding a second bank card and calling to have it verified it shows up in gear manager, however when I go to access it on the watch, the card has an error message pop up saying "stay connected to phone" I have no idea what's causing this. My other card works fine, and the watch is otherwise functioning normal. I have tried restarting both watch and phone, deleting/re-adding card, and uninstalling/installing gear manager and samsung pay. But every time I get the same error message. Can someone please help.
Still looking for a solution to this issue, called Samsung Pay, but they weren't much help.

I don't have a solution, but you're not alone. Happened to one of my cards. There's a Reddit thread about this (sounds like you or similar), but no solutions there either.
Yea the Reddit thread is the only other person I have found that has had a similar problem, I'm hoping Samsung does indeed "investigate" this issue as they told me they would but if not it looks like I may be going back to Best buy to swap out the watch.

I too had one of my two cards on the watch do this. Thought it was just me since that card was hard to setup in the first place. Anyway, I had to remove the card in the Gear app on my phone and go through the process of adding it again which is a pain since that card needed to call my bank to be verified. Anyway, I never lost any connection to the phone while using Gear Pay, so they obviously have a hiccup in their system.

So after removing the card through Gear manager did that work for you? Or did it just go back to saying "stay connected to phone"

Just an update, I went back to Best Buy and exchanged the watch thinking maybe there was something defective with the watch, not the case at all, I'm having the exact same problem with new watch.

Yes it did. The card has now been working fine since I re-activate it again.

Yea I finally got mine working, I didn't do anything different from the other 10+ times of resetting the watch/Pay, but whatever it works now lol.

Well, same card happened again. I'll bet it's just with certain banks, or maybe cards.
Let me guess - you're all using American Express cards. Am I right?

Anyone have a fix yet?
I tried adding my Wells Fargo card to my gear s3 frontier and everything went fine until it was all set up I got the same message "stay connected to phone" I attempted to call samsung pay customer service and got absolutely nothing, as soon as I described the problem the rep said they would call me back in an hour and that was 5 hours ago. Does anyone know how to fix this?
:crying:
I just encountered this with my wells fargo card on my gear s3... called Samsung and had to reset the watch go under apps on phone and delete Samsung pay gear add on and the gear app.
Then pair it back redo it all added my card called the bank to verify it on my watch again and restart the watch...it was fine after that.
(Thought I'd also add this all started after Verizon pushed out the 3.0 update to my s3 classic)
This is a known bug that happens on S2 and S3 on an Amex card when you have at least two cards installed. A new update was available to the gear plugin today, but they'll only tell us "minor bug fixes". I keep hoping they finally fix this very irritating bug.
I thought I was free of this bug with my new Galaxy Watch. But the bug just happened. It took three months but it happened. A reboot of both phone and watch got rid of it, for now... Just absolutely ridiculous that this is still a thing.
If anyone stumbles across this...
1. Open the Samsung pay watch plug in:
(You can search it in the app store and open it that way, it won't be in the app drawer)
2. Options -> Settings -> Reset app
3. Select your watch in the list and reset it.
4. Accept and go add you cards back in.
