I know it works by holding home button, but I can't get it working by saying Ok Google. It keeps asking to retrain my voice

The above method is for keeping Samsung Themes with assistant not a fix for OK GOOGLE

Hey @asad510 I would love to write an article about this! Can you provide some HQ images of this working on the S7 Edge with Nougat? Or a video how-to? I'd publish it on my site to send some attention to this post.
Let me know your thoughts.
Also the Google Play link above doesn't direct to the actual app. I think this is it.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=choplabalagun.blogspot.com.chopassistant
And the Telegram Group doesn't exist either.

This doesn't work without magisk. You should let people know that!

It change the Build.prop device name to Pixel XL. In Samsung devices its a mess because you cannot open the Samsaung galaxy app anymore, it dont recognize the device. I believe its enough to change the name on the build.prop. what is the original name from the S7 edge that appears on the original build.prop?

Hi Guys, This works fine however the magisk module breaks android pay, anyone gotten around this ? try adding a card after installing the Google Assistant Enabler Magisk module (I have version 2.0.0)
Cheers.

Change it back to SM-G935F i found out that after editing that file and adding ro.opa.eligible_device=true you can switch model back to SM-G935F and assistant still works

OK, I'm guessing the YouTube video I've just watched is a hoax, as it promises a way of "installing Assistant to any android phone in less than 1 minute" withouty xPosed, Magisk or root. Just by sideloading a replacement Google.apk. But just in case it's real, could someone who knows how to unpack apks have a look at this and let me know........?
NB please, if you're a novice user, don't install this to your phone until it's been tested by clever people at XDA. It's probably click-bait for a virus installer.

[SOLVED] How to enable Google Now on Android 5.0 Lollipop Nexus 5

***PLEASE CHECK OUT UPDATE METHOD AT THE END!***
For those of you who cannot get Google now to work because you live in “Other countries", here's a fix that works for the Nexus 5 running the official Android 5.0 Lollipop released yesterday (Thursday 13th).
Here are the possible problems you ran into:
1. In Google Search's setting, you are unable to "flick on" Google Now with text "Google Now requires location services which are not available."
2. You signed out of the Google account, cleared Google Search app, uninstalled updates from Google Play Services, and signed in again. But after you click "Yes, I'm in" in you get a simple message saying "This account is not eligible for Google Now"
Be sure that your device's language is in English (United States)
Fix:
1. Download and install Market Unlocker (I am apparently a new member and not allowed to post links)
2. If your country blocks Google Play (eg. China), download SpeedVPN
3. If you are logged into Google: Settings-->Accounts-->Google-->*Click on your email*-->Three button on top right-->Remove Account
4. Go into Settings-->Apps -->Clear data for both Google Play Services and Google Search
5. Now open Market Unlocker --> Enable Unlocker (Default should be Verizon United States, if not, swipe right and choose that)
6. Turn of the phone.
7. Important: remove SIM card
8. Turn on the phone, connect to wifi, and open SpeedVPN -->Choose "United States"
9. Long press on homescreen -->Settings--> turn on Google Now
10. Log in and you should get your Google Now working.
11. Put back your SIM card
Hope it helps guys. Let me know if you run into any problems during this process.
UPDATE!
HERE'S A NEW METHOD THAT WORKS FOR LOLLIPOP ON NEXUS 5 as of February 1st 2015
This method has also been tested on Nexus 4 running Lollipop 5.0 as well. Here are the steps
1. Make sure you are rooted and have a working VPN
2. Download and install "location report enabler"
3. Run it and grant root access
4. Restart phone, turn on airplane mode with Wi-Fi on
5. Set VPN to country like America or England
6. Clear data for Google Launcher, Play services, Play store
7. Settings--> Location--> Google ----> enable location
8. Sign out of Google account
9. Back to home screen, use Google search to "remind me to buy milk"
10. Go through sign in steps
11. Back to home screen and swipe left. Voila!
Again if you have any questions please comment!

When it says account not eligible and goes back to google search just make it remind something (eg - remind me to sleep in 10 minutes) before doing anything else and it should automatically enable google now and take you to google now. Worked for me and hope this helps yall

Interestingly I didn't even get to try it out.
Google Now worked after following the steps mentioned by dollarside. However, it was probably the 5th I've tried.
Might be related to Market Unlocker that didn't seem to work at first. I used the guide from here (including proxy settings) and downloaded the latest version (3.5.1). After rebooting I made sure that the app actually said Market successfully changed (I had failed before after the reboot).
Another reason could be that I used Astrill VPN before (with different US servers). The last and successful attempt was with SpeedVPN.
In the end I cannot say what helped. Being persistent turned out to be successful. This time.
it's work for me in second try without rooting or using market unlocker.

Hi, can you explain what you did?

Yay the new update (Google App 4.1.24.1672412.arm) works with the old trick I used.
The old trick if anyone needs it (Needs root) -
Install Titanium Backup. Install a File Manager and a Launcher. I used ES File Explorer and Nova Launcher.
Find and download com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox-2.6.7.721924.arm version of Google Search and copy it to your phone. (Won't post the link because it's not allowed. You can find it in Androidfilehost)
Open Titanium Backup and tap on "Backup/restore". Scroll down to Google Search and tap on it. Do a backup by tapping "Backup!!" (Just in case) Then tap on "Un-Install!" (Make sure you have a different launcher installed before doing this!!")
Restart your phone.
Open the file manager, navigate to the folder where you copied the Google Search 2.6.7.721924 apk and install it. Open it and it will ask to Opt in to Google Now. Tap on "Yes I'm in".
Download and install the latest update from APKMirror Google App 4.1.24.1672412.arm.
And you are done! Feel free to remove the other launcher and file manager.

[7.0-7.1] How to achieve Pixel Features and Look on any Rooted Android Device

Hi! Guys Today I will share a guide on How to achieve Pixel features and look on almost any android device running android Nougat.
What you need?:- A rooted Nougat device, Root file manager(I recommened ES), Brain
Lets start:-
Go into root of your device using your fav. file manager and search for build.prop. Usually it lies in system folder but if not found search it. Open it with any text editor and add this two lines at it's end.
ro.product.model=Pixel XL
ro.opa.eligible_device=true
Now reboot your device.
After your device turns on Clear Google App data.(Clear whole data and not cache only).
Now long press on your device to launch Google assistant:laugh::laugh: .
Now another step.
Open playstore and install pixel launcher and wallpapers by google.
Now you need Link2SD.(Install if not already Installed)
Now open Link2SD find & convert Pixel launcher and wallpapers into system apps and reboot again. (This step enables Google Now on swipe).
Now Download the boot animation app by Jrummy from playstore and install the boot animation zip i provided or manually push it into your system where your boot animation is stored.(Normally it's stored in system>media)
Copy audio files and replace it with your default files in system>media>audio.
Now if you want more follow:- (Not recommened for CM users but i hadn't encountered any problem on my CM though )
Download substratum from Playstore and Pixel Ui which is similar theme for this app and apply it via the substratum. Reboot
Cm users can skip many steps and use any pixel theme and icon pack from Playstore and apply it via Themes app natively installed.:fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:
It's Done. Now enjoy all features and look of Pixel on your device.
While i encountered that google assistant doesn't recognize your voice I can't do anything for it now. I will keep looking to make it work but it will take time.Sorry.
You can also just download the launcher and wallpaper and install it. It still works that way. Also you can manually push them into system if required. But i suggest you to use bootanimation via substratum only as i pulled the zip file from PixelUi.
Here is a thread on Pixel experince you may want to take a look here too if you want to avoid so much work and go for flashing zips:-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/and...xel-experience-launcher-dialer-t3478907/page1
Tips:- Signup for google beta tester on playstore and update your google app to latest beta version for seamless google assistant work.
You may add those two build.prop at the end and don't change your default model number. It will still work.
Boot animation have a huge chances to work normally as the just conatin minimal animations and cover center of screen. So try it out and tell me.
This is my first guide. Please PM me or quote if you have any doubts before rating my guide bad.
Thank me if you liked my guide and my assistance.

installing google dialer on honor 8

i couldn't install the google dialer apk on my honor 8 phone (FRD-L04). Tried sideloading various versions of it downloaded from apk mirror, nothing get installed.
Could somebody help out if you have managed to install the same

Google store says my phone isn't compatible.
Are you rooted?
Is your phone rooted? It's the only way this will work.
Take this apk, use a root file explorer (I like solid explorer) and copy it to root/system/priv-app. Then edit the read/write permissions ( I usually enable everything).
You can also use link2sd to make the apk a system app.
Then just reboot your phone and you should be good to go.
You'll have to go to apps, settings, pick defaults, and choose it as the dialer.
Also, if you are rooted, you can then delete the stock dialer, but be careful, you might delete the wrong thing and then no phone for you. (I had that issue, but a kind forum member was able to get me the missing apk)
If somehow it DOES get messed up, you'll have to reflash via dload, or get the correct apks and place them on priv-app (again, if you're rooted)
thanks for the reply.. i don't want to root my phone though..

I was looking for a higher version number of Google Dialer that could be compatible with the Honor 8.
To the best of my knowledge, this is the only version compatible: http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...71529-nonnexus-android-apk-download/download/
I've used this very same version on my Moto X Pure.

This is best compatible with AOSP ROMs.
Wasn't the first question about installing Google Dialer on an Honor 8? It was even stated that they tried to sideload multiple different versions as well... from APK Mirror... the same place I shared the link from. I merely wanted to state that the version I linked to is the last version that I know personally works on phones that aren't Nexus/Pixel. All you can do is try it or not. It works. Just download, install normally, set it to default app.
The dialer installs just fine on the honor 8. I'm running it right now. There's a few threads about how to do it correctly here on XDA. First rule, search before asking.

This isn't a new thread - it's months old. Someone just resurrected it by adding a new comment. And yes, the app can be side loaded onto the Honor 8, but it will only be the dialer and contact list UI. The in call UI will remain stock and caller id will not work.
Results with rooted devices may vary though.

5. I scrolled down to google
6. I tapped it and then I went on assistant
7. I tapped show icon
8. I went on assistant in the app drawer
9. And wait a few seconds
10. Go through setting up Google assistant
11. Done, and every time you want something just long press the home button!
Google assistant disappeared and now I have screen search back again which I don't want

Visual Voicemail is broken on the Google dialer, at least on T-Mobile. Both magisk and non-magisk version for me.
Have to use default OnePlus dialer for now. At least it has an option for swipe up to answer now.

Voicemail is the only thing not working for me. New voicemails don't even show in the tab within the dialer for some reason.
When I tried the magisk module I had no dialer screen, I mean no interface when calling or receiving a call. Any ideas?
Does anyone know why exactly the Google Dialer won't just install normally on our device? Originally I thought it was because the existing dialer was the same package name but that actually doesn't seem to be the case. I'd be interested to know what the actual reason is.

Mostly the reason behind this is our phone is not having Android one and it doesn't belong to Google.
any google phone does not work properly on my oneplus6 with oos5.1.8,
substratum cannot apply black theme !!
but the same substratum theme can easily applied on my nexus6 with AOSP 8.1.
I miss features of the Google Dialer but the default theme for it is so very opposite to the system theme that is just... It was so easy to set the system profile to a certain colour palette, the clash in style just makes the Google Dialer unusable for me!

Thanks man

That would be the Magisk module

No, seems magisk module isn't compatible with official play version
But try this: uninstall magisk dialer module, install google framework (if you haven't done this), delete playstore data, cache, reboot device. Open playstore, and now dialer is there

Actually I did this and ever since, apps are not showing up in the installed apps list. They are installed, but I have to find them manually. If they have an update, it won't show in the update tab in play store, but they can be update, and they will show in the installed apps after the update.
Guys I found this working method, now I can update google dialer via play store and no bugs yet.
