Neither. You need to go to the CIBC website and sign up and then you'll receive a link or just install the apk. It's only available a select number of CIBC credit cards for now.

Hopefully someone can assist. I had the stock FW for my G935F with Rogers in Canada. I tried using the early access, but it says that Pay isn't available in the Galaxy apps. So I sideloaded and it only accepted a ZIP code.
Now I'm on the 7.0 UK beta, and it just gives me the UK coming soon screen.
So how can I use Pay, in Canada, with CIBC, and without voiding warranty/tripping Knox? I tried the Rogers 60 CSC (G935W8OYA2APJ4) and it wouldn't let me flash.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Well i tried the correct way of registering on the CIBC website and they are suppose to send you a link to download. but the link they gave won't let you download for some reason. I am not sure if it is because i have beta 1. It seems to be they have taken it down.

Samsung pay won't work if knox is tripped. Otherwise, the fact that you're in the UK might also be an issue.

cant wait to get my hands on it!

Just a quick update to my post. I gave a call to their support.
As I suspected, Samsung are locking Samsung Pay to the device model.
As such, Samsung Pay in Canada will ONLY work on a SM-G935W8.
They said this is a "hardware limitation" which is obviously a crock.
What this also means is anyone who, say, bought the S7 (Edge) in the UK or elsewhere in the world and moved to Canada will not be able to use Samsung Pay unless they buy a new device (according to the Samsung rep I talked to). Honestly don't know how that can even be legal...

What they told you is not true. I have a Galaxy S7 Edge from AT&T running SM-G935U software (not even AT&T's), knox NOT tripped, and I have both my Wells Fargo and CIBC cards registered on Samsung Pay on Rogers in Canada. This is a US phone on a Canadian network so they don't know what they are talking about.

It didn't care what I put in. I put in the same ZIP as my Wells Fargo. Try 90210. The app doesn't seem to check with your bank but you will get a verification email from CIBC before you can add the card.

If it functions as a cellphone without having to be paired to one, you should be able to push the issue through legal means very easily because it is in fact a cellphone and the providers have no choice but to comply. That they do not have the means to unlock it is immaterial - they'll have to work with Samsung to make it happen by un-gimping the carrier-specific releases.

G935T Unlocked and Running ATT

I was able to unlock my G935T, Galaxy S7Edge today so I can use it on my ATT Account. I had to call TMO customer service because the Unlock Ap that came with the phone would not authorize the unlock when I first tried it.
Over the last few days, in the process of getting unlocked I learned a few things:
1) Phone has to be on TMOBILE for about 5 to 7 days before their system can recognize the device. it might happen sooner - took five days for their systems to see that I had the S7 Edge active on the account.
2) until we are rooted, you have to be able to meet Tmobile Requirements to unlock a device:
A) Be a Tmobile customer for a minimum of 1 year
B) Phone is active on TMOBILE Account for a minimum of 40 days
C) Phone is active on a PRE-PAY account. and Pre Pay account has a minimum balance of $100
From what I understand, You only need to meet one of the three requirements, A or B or C.
My experience in working with Customer Support was mixed. Most were very helpful (I have been trying to get customer support to authorize my unlock since day 2 of owning the phone) One guy was a jerk and refused to accept that I met the requirements. He kept saying something that was not mentioned in the rules at all - sort of making things up to meet his understanding - but when he transferred me to a higher level of support, they understood and actually helped me.
The good news is, there is a guy in Tmobile Note 5 Forums that can help you unlock devices (once you are rooted) My understanding is that he is offering his services free of charge but will accept donations to anyone grateful enough to donate something if the want to. Once we havr root, head over here to get more information) Sim Unlock - US and International
Finally, there is one other way you may be able to unlock your TMobile S7 Edge but you will have to wait until Sammobile has Firmware posted for our devices. Specifically you will need firmware for Metro PC G935T1 (versus G935T) They use the exact same firmware that is used by TMOBILE (at least they did on the Note 5 and S6) Metro PCS does not use the Unlock ap to unlock the sim card, you will just need an unlock code. Flashing their firmware in odin on the S6 and Note 5 would then allow you to put a sim card from another carrier and unlock the sim with an Unlock code. YOU CANNOT use unlock codes on TMOBILE Firmware because of their "Unlock AP" it somehow disables the ability to unlock with a code - but because METRO PC doesn't have the unlock app, it is a non issue.
Hope this is helpful...
Good to know!
So does everything work perfectly on the AT&T network.... Mainly LTE?

I'd like to get information if anyone can inbox me on how I can purchase a T-Mobile S7 Edge to use on ATT. So far, in my local area, T-Mobile won't sell me the device unless I have an account attached to it. I was willing to just buy the device out right.

955U at Tmobile store.

So I went to a Tmobile store and looked at the Galaxy s8+ and noticed the model was 955U not 955T
It was of course their demo unit which was strapped (tethered) to the desk which makes it impossible to feel properly in the hand... But whatever.
Curious if only the demo model was a U variant or what? I never payed attention to other models before now?
The U variant of other Samsung models, do they have Locked bootloaders? Is it only the F variant that is unlocked (bootloader)
Sent from my Rooted Galaxy S7 EDGE on Android 7.0 Nougat, here's the instructions how to do it!
The SM-G955U is suppose to be the Unlock variant of the S8+, which make it super interesting, Hope this comes with unlock bootloader

That's really interesting. So I purchased a T-mobile model directly from Samsung.com (paid in full), will I possibly be able to use it on At&t?

From what I read I'm not sure how long it will take to have T-Mobile officially unlock it. They have an app for that but they have several different criteria as far as being a current customer or a prepaid versus postpaid customer. Ive never unlocked a T-mobile phone with the app or a third party unlocking service so maybe someone with examples could chime in. It does seem AT&T has an easier online unlocking method for current and non customers to simply fill out a form.
And the U models are slow with updates

S8 Model G950U...

So I received my preorder S8 through AT&T today. From the information I've been able to gather, the model number is supposed to be SM-G950A. I was looking through the phones info and realized the phone I received is a SM-G950U model. Did I just get very lucky and receive an unlocked S8 from AT&T?? I know there's not too much info out there, but is the unlocked model carrier unlocked only, or will I be able to unlock the bootloader as well? Carrier unlock is no big deal to me considering I work as a cell technician and have a reseller account, but if it will be possible to unlock my bootloader that would really excite me. Thanks for any info!!!

Rumor is, they all get locked the moment you insert a SIM. So... like... don't insert AT&T SIM into a phone you will use with T-Mobile.

I wouldn't doubt that one bit. I had a few S7 930 U's, when you would put a different sim in them they would reboot and load the new carriers sim settings. Wonder if you factory reset right from the get go maybe it would stay unlocked.

Nope. Would kind of defeat the purpose of SIM lock. Basically, as long as you are willing to blow up your data, you can use your phone with any carrier. Then just SmartSwitch restore.

That's not what I've been reading and hearing. All the US models are the same hardware and phone. Only thing that makes it carrier specific is that carriers firmware.
There's no branding on the phones either, no Verizon or att symbol on the back of the devices.

Because you have to meet certain cryteria's for them to unlock it. I've also heard all kinds of horror stories of the phones re-locking after software updates ect. It's much easier to insert a foreign sim and buy a unlock code for 20 dollars and know the phone will be unlocked for good forever.

When I got my T-Mobile phone, the first thing I did was boot using a verizon sim. Never connected to the network or internet. Upon booting I got a notification stating that the phone is indeed carrier locked and to use the app to unlock, so its safe to say at least for the T-Mobile version that it is locked from factory.

I'm seeking the best and a official way to Network/Service unlock my (T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S8+ SM-G955U) ??? I know it's a new device and I've already used up my 2 request for the year, so calling T-Mobile to Request the Unlock isn't gonna happen for those two reasons alone..
I'm inquiring about any other real working methods?
I got my S8+ from Samsung (T-Mo version) and when I opened the T-Mo unlock app, it said it was already permanently unlocked. I was really surprised.

Odd, my wife got hers from Samsung as well (she got an S8) and it is locked as well. When I look at the unlock history, it shows the unlock history of my old V20. Is it possible my phone isn't unlocked and it still sees my unlocked V20? I used a new sim card that came with the S8+.
Are they all unlocked maybe? 955U?

The g950u and g955u are unlocked. I have the 955u and my wife the 950u... I love it

Did she use Samsung finance, Credit card, or PayPal?

My wife paid with the same credit card I paid for mine with. Very strange.
I also would like to know if there's a solution to this. I bought the S8+ from T-Mobile but i also just used my last unlock available for the year so i'd like to know if there another way to unlock it.
My Samsung.com S8+ is also locked.

Keep us posted on how the unlocking process goes
This is crazy. I called tmobile and first the rep told me there's a balace on the phone. I bought it at Samsung.com and paid in full. Then she told me the phone is not a t-mobile phone.

Wow, thats sad. How did you pay for it on samsung.com?
I had to call TMO and request an unlock for the Device Unlock app. I got the approval within 10 min. Now I have a fully unlocked Samsung S8+
There's plenty of unlocking services online, u just have to pay the price, but if your phone is truly a g955u it should be unlocked already, do you have tmo bloat on your phone? Most likey you bought a tmo phone on the Samsung site vs buying the g955u model which comes unlocked
Called Samsung and they said to call t-mobile. Oh well, this is going to be fun.
It's an U but it's t-mobile branded bought from Samsung.com. I paid full price for it. No way in hell I'm gonna pay to unlock it.
I've been on here long enough. What make you think I don't know which phone I have?

Just saying don't get offended, but I'm pretty sure u bought the SM-G955UZKATMB which isn't an unlocked phone. The unlocked model is yet to be released. But they said it's coming out in may

If unlocking is that important for you without paying, maybe you should return for now and wait until they sell the real "unlocked" model or better yet buy the f model! If I had tmo I wouldve in a heart beat but not so compatible with att volte
Well, we all see how they treated the S7 edge US unlocked version. It still hasn't got Nougat yet.
The international F version doesn't have wifi calling for t-mobile. Wifi calling is great feature to have foe international traveller. Also, warranty will be an issue as well.
