Say you get into a bad flash situation/hanging boot screen that just resets upon reboot and cant get to recovery. A battery pull in the past a has allowed subsequent access to recovery. What do you do in the case of a non-removable battery phone? Never had one and have used the batt pull method a lot.
Thanks.

Holding power and volume up until screen goes off and phone vibrates will restart device. Power and volume down will boot into recovery. Try both to become familiar.
Power + Vol Down & Up apparently cuts the power to the battery? Either way if the "cuts power to battery" part is wrong it still cuts it off.

only power + vol up cuts power on the M8, actually.
but yeah, battery pull on the M8 is simply holding power + vol up. Have had to do it dozens of times while hanging at start screens, works fine.
I plugged my charger in my S7 and after ~30 min when i tried to use it,the screen won't turn on.The red LED is on but the phone is...dead.I tried every hard reset/restart possible but nothing happens...no safe mode,my pc doesn't detect it,it's not charging...nothing.The phone acts like it's dead but the red LED is on.... Remove charger and let the phone battery die, might take a long time depending on how much it was charged
Try connecting the white MicroUSB > USB adapter that came with the phone to something power hungry to drain it quicker
Power off you device and then wait 10 seconds. After waiting press and hold the Volume Up, Home, and Power buttons at the same time
After the phone vibrates, let go of the Power button, while still holding the other two buttons until Android System Recovery screen appears.
Using the "Volume Down" button, highlight "wipe cache partition" and press the Power button to select it.
After the cache partition is cleared, the Galaxy S7 will reboot automatically. This worked for me ans I hope this will help

Run the battery out, once the phone is off it might get out of whatever loop it is stuck in
Then connect charger and power on
Any background info? ROMs flashed? Shady apps newly installed? Rooted?

Red LED should not show when charger is not connected though
Press power button plus volume up and down hold for 5 to 10 sec it will restart ur phone same thing happen with on s6 but not on s7.
I once had to press vol up and down, power and home (that's all buttons) at the same time for ten seconds for the S7 to reboot as it was stuck and seemingly dead. No led on at the time though. But I have disabled the leds in the settings anyway.
UPDATE!
The battery discharged completely(red led was off),first i tried to put it in download mode and IT WORKED!!! But the phone wouldn't turn on because the battery was 0%.I charged it and now it works fine :| I hope this was something software related and not hardware and i hope this will never happen again.Thx for the help guys!

Great
Sounded like it just got stuck, and because you can't take the battery out you have to wait for discharge :good:

Yup ?
Same problem
I have the same issue... Tried to charge my phone with 15% battery and after a few hours it was 8%. Tried to reboot, charge with the phone turned off but nothing was happening ( not charging, not booting up. tried buttons combinations as well ). The led is not showing up on mine because i disabled it from the settings so i'm not sure if it's charging or not. Took the phone to an authorized service on friday so next week i'll be getting a response from them. By the way, the phone is only one week old :crying:
Google Pixe 2 - brick!
Hi. Can you help to solve the problem please.
I have Pixel 2, bought in Canada, used in Belarus. Android 8.0, stock. After almost a month of use, there were no problems.
Yesterday put phone on the charge for the night, cable the cube out of the box. In the morning he noticed that he had not been charged all this time. After a few drones, the cable was also not charged. 10% of the battery is left. I decided to turn pixel off and on. After the shutdown was no longer included - turned into a brick. The pressed power button + volume does not work. Others charges do not work. When you connect to the computer - does not respond.
What could have affected, but I don`t think so:
- on the same day for the first time I connected a flash drive on OTG (not factory, but third-party)
- to charge used the adapter from the Chinese charging (it seems to fit and the earlier oneplusone worked properly)
Help me pliz!

yes, of course
nothing happens
We switched many of the employees where I work over to a Pixel 2 or iPhone8 last week, and one of my users came int this morning with this exact issue. The Recover Mode won't allow you to do anything other than view the barcodes, everything else just brings you back to the menu, won't even attempt to boot.
Talked with Google, and their steps to troubleshoot this was not helpful as you can't get to the menu to wipe the cache or factory reset. Have an RMA with VZW as it was bought from them for it. To me, this looks like a hardware issue.
Did you try to charge the phone with another power supply?
Yes
What does it mean after a few drones ?
I have the same problem. I charged it the whole night, but I got only 4%. Now, the battery is getting less and less whether the is charging or not.
I won't even charge when it's off.
Any ideas?
Hey guys,
Something odd happened this morning and now I am sitting around with a $700 paperweight. Woke up and took the phone off of charge like I usually do and started to read the news. about 10 minutes in the screen and touch buttons froze so I decided to reboot the phone, To my surprise the phone never came back on.
I've tried VOL Down + Power for 30 seconds even longer out of desperation along with just the power button and VOL Up + power to no avail, The phone is dead, Simply dead. I just wanted to reach out to the community to see if I am just one of the lucky ones or if anyone else has had this happen to them?

I don't know which variant you have but look for the MSM download tool thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-7-pro/how-to/msm-tool-guac-t3934691
Have you tried volume up and volume down while you press the power button? Release only the power button when you feel a vibration. I got mine stuck with a black screen while I was tinkering. I know it's a different situation, but it's worth a shot. If it works, you'll end up in bootloader mode. Just use the volume keys to select reboot, and tap the power button to select it.
EDIT: THE PHONE IS DEAD. THANKS ONEPLUS.
I have one plus 7 pro 5g (sprint ). The phone worked perfectly on my commute home and I placed it down on my bed with ~80% battery left. After 4/5 hours later I pick it back up and it does nothing. It just completely dead. It does nothing.
The screen won't turn on, there are no signs of life at all. I then tried to hold the power button for 10 seconds. Nothing. 20 seconds. Still nothing. A full minute, nothing at all.
Connect to charger = nothing
Power + volume down = nothing (I wasn't holding this combination long enough!)
Power + volume up = nothing
Power + up + down = nothing
Power button for 20 seconds x 5 = nothing
This is pretty troubling. Is there something I may have missed? It seems odd that the phone would just suddenly die like this.

Try holding it longer, or try all buttons vol+ & - & pwr. Should get you into fastboot. You can reboot from there.
nothing happens . try all of that.

Same issue happened to me, tried everything by flashing ROM. Not worked. Even service center guys not able to flash software. Now they took my piece for seven days to inpect on hardware damages. Why need to go for this brand if it will loss its own internally.
