Unroot Mexican Samsung Galaxy J7 (2015) - Samsung Galaxy J7 Questions & Answers

Im from Mexico (i use Telcel) and i just bought this J7 (2015) last friday and it came already rooted (I don't know from which, is there a way to check? I only used "Root Checker" to know) and i would like to know how to unroot it since i want to update it to Marshmallow.

Hi. You only need to unroot if you want to upgrade via OTA.
But you can also upgrade via Odin - no unroot needed.
Some hints here .....

Flashing MM via Odin will unroot you automatically.
You can root again if you want.

The thing is i really want to update through OTA and i didn't find firmware for my phone in those links

Then you have 2 choices
Flash original lollipop via Odin. Then update OTA.
Or Use SmartSwitch. You need to be sure that an MM update exists for your region. This will wipe your fon, so back up.

Another problem. I can't find any firmware for my country/carrier.

You need to find out if your rom is multi region (multi CSC).
Install this app and select the CSC tab.

Is that important?

Exact same model that I have ?

My original CSC was AFR, but I installed XSG (UAE) with no problem.

Do firmware for the SM-J700M model work for SM-J700F model?
Found firmware of my carrier for that model.

Don't think so.

Will that firmware work for me?

Do you have TWRP? If yes you can do a backup of your current setup and then start testing some roms.

I don't have TWRP

New software with root

I have a G2 rooted running R380XXU0BND8 software , my gear manager won't let me install the new update because the device is rooted. Any ideas on how to update and keep root? Or update and root again?
Download the newer version of the ROM for your device from SamFirmware and flash with Odin. You would then need to re-root.

Then you tried to downgrade from 5.1.1 to 5.0?? This could have tripped knox but flashing an official firmware which has at least the same builtnumber will definitly be safe!
No i did not. .i had base rom..and try to root.it it stuck at bootlogo. I flashed 5.1.1 and try to install Knox. .it fails

Samsung Galaxy s6 Not registered on network

Okay. so here is what happened. The new marshmallow update for the galaxy s6 came and i downloaded the update and started to install it. it failed at around 30% and rebooted my phone. I decided to try again and i downloaded the update and stll the same, but that's not the issue. after the second update attempt. i rebooted the phone that night and it was fine. but the next morning when i turned on the phone and tries to use my data connection it says not registered on network. My sim card is showing, i tried two different sim cards but the problem is still there. Im within the range of mobile service provider.
So what i did was i cleared the cache partition, the problem is still there.
i Factory reset my phone, the problem is still there.
So, Did anyone else face this problem?
If so, can you tell me how you solved it?
Can anyone help me with this issue.
I thank you in advance

The Csc doesn't have to match.
After flashing the stock ROM check if you have network service, that's how i fixed my problem.
After you flash the ROM just flash the TWRP like you normally do when you have a brand new phone.

I would recommend to use always ODIN if you are in 5.1.1 just be sure to flash the Marshmallow Modem and Bootloader firsts, then flash the ROM.

"Failed", that means the firmware which you tried flashing using odin isn't compatible with your device, best solution would be getting the right firmware from sammobile.

Updating using MM OTA from rooted stock LP ROM

I'm running rooted LP stock with TWRP recovery. My phone downloaded the MM system update. Is it safe to use the automated MM install? I'm not worried about retaining root or custom recovery capabilities.
Thanks
It won't install with the custom recovery. You may as well just install the very latest ROM KDZ with LG UP, and then you'll be all up to date. I believe it's posted in one of the update threads
Sent from my LG-H901 using XDA-Developers mobile app
You will lose root if you use the latest kdz right?
Sent from my LG-H901 using XDA-Developers mobile app
You do lose root and will be completely stock. I haven't read enough of the other threads to know if the latest is actually rootable yet or not.... I've seen conflicting reports. It does appear that you will. hard brick if you try to roll back tho! It's a one way road

(Help) Indian firmware on T mobile n915t failing

My unlocked & rooted 915t is running on custom 6.0.1 based on T moble ROM. All fine, but VoLTE does not support Reliance Jio India 4G network (Already enabled in call settings). I have to use an extra app that works well but phone lags. So, I just want to flash indian firmware or atleast a firmware that supports Reliance 4G VoLTE.Tried N915GXXU1DPE3_N915GODD1DPE2_N915GDDU1DPB6_HOME.tar .md5 thru ODIN and flash failed. Kindly help. Thanks in advance.
dont mix firmwares
u shouldnt have flashed a indian fw on a t mobile device.
download the stock t mobile fw from samsung and then see if it supports voLTE.
