Has anyone else dismantled one of these? - HTC ChaCha

Recently dismantled one of these to repair a damaged USB Port.
The build quality is shocking to say the least. Hope HTC are better than this nowadays.

Your best bet would probably be eBay and get one of those HTC 7 Pro/HTC Arrives that are being sold with bad ESNs as "parts only" (should be cheaper than the other auctions/buy-it-nows).
Thank your for you input but I'm afraid that is not an option as there are rarely any faulty 7 pro for sale.
I'm looking for an usb port like this one only reversed.
edit:
its called Reverse Mount Micro USB Charging Port Connector and it appears to be the same as desire z / g2
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Reverse-Mou...ccessories&hash=item5d311e92db#ht_2434wt_1163
ordered 3 of these and received 4 of them. used one as replacement, works perfectly.
if anyone needs one contact me

[HELP] Sensation XE, how to swap broken screen...?

Hi guys, my son dropped his sensation XE and cracked the screen.
The phone still works, inside LCD isn't damaged and touchscreen still works perfectly.
But it's got this huge crack running diagonally across the whole phone. Sooner or later its going to stop working. Strangely the phone casing doesnt show any other damage.
I can buy individual digitizer screens from ebay for £25, also some sell the complete digitizer+LCD in one piece ready to attach to phone for approx. £50.
Apparently the whole LCD+digitizer have to be replaced together, so I would have to buy the complete LCD+digitizer for £50. I phoned a repair shop in London but they charge £90 with postage including the new LCD + digitizer.
I can find lots of help changing a normal senasation screen on the net and youtube but nothing showing the senastion XE taken apart.
Anybody done this before and have any tips on how to do it?
my old sensation had a broken digitizer, I got a replacement off ebay and took it to the local phone repair shop, it cost me £20 for the part and £20 for fitting.
You could do it yourself if you feel confident...
The digitizer and LCD do not have to be replaced together...
Once you remove the void sticker from the back your warranty will be gone...
*cough* you can buy the void stickers of ebay and stick it back on *cough*

Ok, that's your normal sensation. The senastion XE is different. I asked at 3 repair shops and they all said the senastion XE has to have the LCD+digitizer replaced together.
They said the normal sensation doesnt need the LCD swaped.
HENCE my question, how to fix the XE screen?
the sensation and sensation XE are exactly the same phone, except the sensation XE has beats audio software.
There is no physical hardware difference at all
HTC Underclocked The CPU and removed beats audio so they could bring out the XE Version which was a 'NEW' Phone, This way they can sell more and maximise profits.
Then why have three different repair shops told me otherwise? They actually told me if it was a normal senation they would exchange the digitizer quickly and cheaply.
But the XE has to have both LCD+digitizer replaced together, even though the LCD is still ok!
Could the LCD+digitizer swap be due to the digitizer compatibility and lag issue you posted above?

Its possible, But i suspect that the phone repair man is taking you for a ride, Trying to bull**** you with jargon making it out like he knows best because 'he has done this hundreds of times'
Then he can charge you for 2 parts + labour when in fact the phone only needed 1 part.
If where you live is anything like where i live, These bastards will screw you over for whatever they can get away with.
EDIT: The lag issue can be fixed by updating software / kernel according to that thread.

+1 - Exactly the same physical hardware
If it is exactly the same hardware then there are enough sensation tear down videos floating around on youtube.
I'm pretty good repairing electrical stuff, should I trust myself and buy a senastion XE digitizer from ebay for £25 and try the swap myself...or better send it to a repair shop for the complete LCD+digitizer swap?

I did just that for my Desire after I dropped it onto a concrete step.
The the thing was so NEW I couldn't even pick up a case or screen protector for it
Worked fine by the way , so give it a go.
Hi guys, I successfully changed the broken digitizer with a new one
I tested it and it works!
BUT
Before I could screw the phone together, while I was fumbling around with it the digitizer cable came out of it's tiny socket and the tiny white plastic clamp on the socket sprung out and now I can't fix the clamp back into the socket!
I tried putting the cable into the socket without the white clamp but after a reboot the digitizer wouldn't work! Screen came on but touchscreen was not working, obviously the cable isn't sitting correctly in the tiny socket without the clamp.
Here is a picture of the socket without the clamp.
Can anybody suggest how I can securely fix the cable into the socket with a clean contact?
I searched google but because I don't know the proper names of the socket and tiny clamp, I didnt find anything.
I'm sure this is a regular problem as the socket and clamp are so flimsy and they're used in the millions, there must be solutions to find on the net...

Changing micro-usb port in our phone

recently the micro usb port in my sensation broke due to unfortunate accident
I just ordered a new one from ebay and i was hoping someone here can confirm that i can change it myself with my basic electronic knowledge
It is not so easy and quick repair. My advice is to go to the repair shop.

Good place to buy USB charging port flex cable?

My USB port is slowly dying. It only charges when the cable is in a certain position and when I move it , it stops charging.
Anyone know of a good place to get a new flex cable? I looked at etradesupply, but the shipping is too expensive. The port is 17.99, but the shipping to Canada is 31.99.
I bought 2 off amazon, but when I install it, everything works except the loud speaker. At first I thought it was a defective cable, so I tried the second one I bought as the spare.......still no sound.
At this point I thought I messed up my phone, but when I put the original one back, everything works again except the charging port.
Anyone have any experience with this? Know of a place the sells one that works?
Thanks
Where are you located? Ebay?
Since the N5 has built-in wireless charging, you could just buy a cheap qi charging pad to charge the phone wirelessly.
I'm in Canada.
I did think about eBay, but I'm worried it will be the same as the amazon one. I was hoping someone had ordered one from somewhere and can confirm it worked.
Are you in Toronto? Maybe post an ad on a buy sell trade forum for the part? Any local repair shops gave the part?
Sorry, I should have been more specific. I'm in Vancouver.
I have contacted several reputable businesses in Vancouver, but they want to charge to install the part. I understand their point though since the profit is in the labour.
I'm hoping I don't have to go that route since its substantially more expensive. The cheapest I have been qouted is $60.
I have opened up the phone and am comfortable installing it, so I'm hoping I can save some money doing it myself.
Is this the piece you need? A wireless charger could charge the phone if the USB port is able to transfer data.

Yup!
That's what I need. Have you bought from a place that you can confirm works?
The one I have works for sure because it actually came from an LG phone. I purchased two phones: 1 with a smashed glass, the other with a damaged emmc. I took the motherboard from the phone with a smashed glass and put it into the phone with a defective motherboard.
I have never purchased replacement parts from a third party except for non-oem pre-assembled LCD/digitizer/glass/frame from Aliexpress.
The USB replacments from Amazon look exactly like the original with the same number of contacts, etc.?

The amazon one I got, looks exactly like the one in the phone right now.....thats why I'm confused as to why it didn't work. I tried 2 and both the loudspeaker didn't work. Everything else works......however .
I'm not sure which vendor sold the part but were there any negative reviews or buyers mentioning this problem? Could it be something unique about your phone's speaker? I doubt it because the speaker for the d820 and d821 have the same part number.

There were only 2 reviews.....one said they had the sound problem and the other said it was fine.....I guess its hit or miss with third party parts.
It was the cheapest I found, so that may have something to do with it not working.
Amazon. Never buy cheap
OP purchased them from Amazon but I'm not sure of the price.
Any particular place you recommend?
Did you clean the original? 99%of the time its lint in it
I believe the OP has solved the problem.

Yup! Problem solved!
I kind XDAer ( I won't mention who, unless they want me to say) sent me the original flex cable from their broken nexus 5.
I did try to clean the port, but it was still no good.
I did buy from Amazon, however I have to admit it was the cheapest one they had for sale. I guess you do get what you pay for.

Hi guys

I recently started learning how to repair smart devices about half a year ago and I love tinkering around with different issues. Sometimes I would buy or auction devices off eBay and tinker with it. But sometimes I have come across a water damaged device and I was wondering does other components such as camera, flex cables, and other components other than the motherboard still work? Does using a multimeter continuity help finding out if it still work? Because right now I am building a website where I want to try to sell parts and components at a discount price. Someone please help answer! Much appreciated.!
