Hello guys I have XT1033 and I flashed KitKat ROM (Asia Retail 4.4.2) on it..
I tried YT app (official, latest from Pay StorE) and all videos play at 720p resolution without asking or letting me control the quality. In short there's no "quality" option in drop down list of video's menu!!
I am on 41.1A bootloader.. pls help I even tried some older versions of YouTube app

1st of all i must say sorry if there is another post about this but, is there a way to improve youtube video quality on our XL?????
the best quality im getting on youtube is 360p... our phone can play 720p videos without problems or lags but youtube only gets up to 360p
my phone is full stock device and bootloader is locked
you need to have root access
2 ways to improve quality:
1- With a modded youtube app http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1529715
cons: old version of youtube
pro: have many extra options like playing in background etc etc
2 - fake resolution: you can use xposed with "app settings" ,module to set the youtube app working with a higher resolution with lower dpi, this will enable 720p in the app

Hello,
I think I found a strange bug on my nexus 5. I just recently installed the xposed framework and now inside the youtube app I can not use the 1080p option anymore. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a solution to this?
Thank you very much!
Occasionally it even works but only for one video and the next video then only has the 720p mode option.
(All the videos that I have tested are HD videos that I know and which do normally have a 1080p option)
I have the lg g3 (at&t) i recently updated my youtube app to the latest 5.14.5 update and the highest quality i can watch videos is stuck at 1080p , even while watching a 4k video !!!! Can anyone please help with this issue ??

Sign out of YouTube. Clear YouTube cache in settings-apps. Sign in to YouTube. Load a 4k video. How is your DL speed on wifi? 4G speed?
I am currently running stock unrooted ROM 32.1.A.1.185 with unlocked bootloader. The video is currently to record in Full HD at 30 fps. When I inspect the details it says 1920x1080 but the file size does not look right. A 7 second video is around 15 MB or so. When I upload the video to Facebook and YouTube it's not recognised as HD. YouTube reports the size as 360p!
Has anyone else had this issue? I have trawled around as well as I could and found nothing reported. Do I just have a faulty phone?
Thanks,
D.
Further findings:
If I upload a video by recording it through the FB app then the HD option is available when viewing. If I record the video outside FB, then share it through the FB app, the HD option is not available when viewing! Go figure...
thats very odd and I dont know any solution aside to reflash the stock firmware of your device
I havent tried with youtube but anywhere where ive uploaded a video recorded from my phone it shows as 1080p
Very strange indeed. It seems to be weirdly network connection dependent. If I watch the same YouTube video on my desktop, on wired network, the 1080p option is available. If I watch it on the same network, but WiFi, it's only showing 480p!
Very odd im not sure what could be causing this but i know of some similar odd issues where youtube wouldent load on wifi for me some time ago, this was with my xperia z2 and a reflash and reset of the device solved this.
How can I install Netflix because it is not present in the play store in the Chinese ROM? (I still have to wait a week to install the ROM.EU in that instead the play store is complete?) And once installed will it already be compatible with HD and HDR?
You can sideload Netflix while you're on CN Rom. I'm on EU rom and HDR is still not supported.
Is there a way to put HDR?
I'm on eu rom. HDR is not working in netflix. It works in youtube but only on small screen, when i put video on full screen colors are washed out.
