[q]LG H636 Stylo - Rooting after KDZ flash?

Hey all Stylo users,
I think my bootloader is locked or something because I can't root after flashing a KDZ for Fido on my phone. I flashed the KDZ, then in an attempt to regain root, restored from the LG PC Bridge program. But still can't root with LG One Click Root or Kingroot. Kingroot worked 100% before flashing the KDZ. Im just not clear on why after flashing it, root isn't possible. The KDZ thread states that there was no root method available for 5.1.1. or something. My current version is 5.0.2, and I have no OTA's pending. I guess Fido hasn't upgraded this phone to 5.1.1. yet. Can someone fill me in if they have any info? Thank you !
Flashing a kdz for the stylo locks the bootloader, and root will not be available anymore, thats why using a kdz should be used as a last resort.
Thank's for the info friend, and that's too bad for me I guess.

LG G Stylo [MS631] (Metro PCS variant) Questions

Ok so I am cotemplating rooting my lg g stylo and from what I can tell it is obviously possible, however there are some concerns that I have found in the guides for rooting that I am unsure about.
1. To root I will use this method is that OK for my variant and are the drivers compatible for my phone? http://androidcreations.weebly.com/lg-g-stylo.html
2. When installing TWRP as specified by Gametheory's website he lists two TWRP recoveries version 10i and 10j which should I use? http://androidcreations.weebly.com/lg-g-stylo-twrp.html
3. When it comes to installing xposed I understand the game has changed from jellybean and we need to flash a zip on top of using the apk will using this method work or do I have to go through a special process like the boost lg g stylo
4. Has anybody actually rooted and gotten xposed running on this variant? Because I have been looking around and I can't seem to find anyone who explicitly states that.
5. I have heard that the T- Mobile variant will be getting marshmallow I was looking arund and found this thread discussing the subject matter my question is will rooting not allow me to recieve the update if it becomes available in the future?
Hopefully someone can answer my questions thanks in advance if you take the time to read this thread.
1. Yes that works.
2. You can find out whether your device shipped with 10i or 10j and flash the correct recovery or you do trial and error, if the 10i gives you a half screen and is unresponsive then you have a 10j stylo and use the 10j recovery.
3. You don't have a boost stylo why would you use the boost procedure? Xposed on the metro stylo is as easy as flashing the arm-sdk22 zip from the xposed for lollipop thread and installing the xposed installer apk. You could also flash Katana rom from GameTheory which already comes with xposed.
4. Dozens upon dozens of us have, I have a metro stylo myself.
5. Don't hold your breath for marshmallow, it might come tomorrow, it might never come. If/when it does you kdz back to stock and take the update or install it via a flashable zip someone is bound to make of it.

So the marshmallow update came out this morning for metropcs. I am curious to know what will happen if I upgrade. Will I lose my root? Will my phone go into a unnavoidable bootloop? Will ut brick? Should I just not update? Im running a stock rom rooted. Twrp is installed all on a metropcs lg g stylo (ms631). Thank you in advance for your help.

LS996, unlocking for Ringplus

Hi. I'm trying to get a smartphone for the first time.
I got an used and locked G Flex 2 LS996 to use at Ringplus out of my ignorance. I didn't know they have to be unlocked even if it's a Sprint phone for Sprint MVNO. I used this guide to root zv9. Following this sim-unlock guide seems to require downgrading to zv6, so now I'm at this guide.
But when I use LGUP, it says the version is 'LS996ZV4' even though what's installed is zv9, and trying to upgrade using linked file, LS991ZV6_12_ARB02.tot, results in error, 'Error: TOT file is invalid[1]'.
Any suggestions? Thank you.
I'm thinking of trying unroot zv9 -> downgrade to zv6 -> root zv6 -> unlock. Will it be safe? And I couldn't find unroot guide for zv9. Is it the same as zv6-8?
I made the back to stock guide its in general. You didnt look enough for it. You shouldnt downgrade to any version it will brick your device. ZV9 is unlockable just replace the files. I used the ones of G4 LS991. :good:

I saw your post for stock image files http://forum.xda-developers.com/g-flex2/general/return-to-stock-ls996-stock-img-t3217089, but I don't know how to do it. I tried LGUP, but it says I have zv4 when I have zv9. Upgrading to zv6 fails, as well. Did you mean another post?

By the way, if I get this phone unlocked following these guides, will I be able to use it on Ringplus? Will checking its MEID show clean financial check?
My guide explicitly says "USE EACH VERSION WITH ITSELF DO NOT DOWNGRADE OR YOU WILL BRICK".
If you followed rooting guide. Its the same process to go back to stock flashing just the system image with dd command. Dont follow all the lg g4 unlock guide all you need is to download the files and replace them. Use root explorer if you do it with the normal file explorer you wont find anything. And last im not in US territory so I dont know if it will work for ringplus.
Ok. Since two guides say different things about downgrading, I thought going from root to unroot has to be same version but downgrading from stock to stock was fine. Perhaps I got misinformation leading me to believe LG version of Android for its latest phones are the same.
Thank you for your input. I'll try later again and see what happens.

LS991 Sprint G4 could ve downgraded from ZV6 to ZV5. But not sprint LS996 Flex2.
Actually they root just like us with full system images. I had the G4 and I rooted it the same way we do.
Hello all,
I also have the ZV4 firmware for a sprint phone, what should i do to get the phone unlocked and on 5.1.1 ?

[DOWNGRADE] LG G3 D850 from [OFFICIAL MARSHMALLOW OTA] to Kit Kat.

Yesterday I got an LG G3 D850 (AT&T Model), and the first thig I verify was the software version to begin with the rooting, recovery flashing, moding, you know all the cool stuff we found on XDA.
But for my surprise this phone had official Marshmallow (OTA updated) and without root acces or a custom recovery on it, so I said @&%#$ this @&%$# because I knew this wasnt good news.
So after calming down I started looking for a root method but Oneclick Root fail, kingo root fail, King root actually root the phone but after a restart the root acces was gone, I keep looking for a permanent root method but found none, Instead I found some tutorials showing how to make the Kingroot acces permanent but they used their custom recovery to flash an img that do this AAAAND I didnt had nothing.
Then I found this tutorial http://www.xda-developers.com/lg-g3-locked-bootloader-bump-xdatv/ it shows how to flash the TWRP recovery, using flashify and a custom TWRP img for each LG G3 models, the only requirement was HAVE ROOT ACCES.
I had root acces but temporarily and the tutorial didnt mention anything about Marshmallow, sooooo at my own risk I flashed the recovery img with flashify, the app ask me to reboot, I cross my fingers and VUALA! I got a beutiful error message saying "BOOT VERIFICATION FAILED" spiced with blue and red ligths blinking, I grabbed a cigarrete and went outside and thik how to use my new paperweight.
Buut! I took the battery out and turn the phone on and it still boots, but the recovery was ruined, I kept trying flashing the recovery without succes. I was losing hoppe at that moment and as a last resort I thought in downgrading the phone but everywhere I looked at was a warning message saying "Only for D855" "Only for D855" Do not try to downgrade from MM on other models, I saw others used Lollipop AUTOREC on Marshmallow and briked the phone.
I was a horrible view, but after hours looking for the solution I took the risk of downgrading using Lg Flash tool and an old kit kat TOT for the D850 I had. And now I will explain what I did step by step.
First of all you will need:
LG flash tool 1.8.6.527: http://download833.mediafire.com/vyey6xwovvpg/dp93tvcbf4kqvup/LGFlashTool_1.8.6.527.rar
LG D850 STOCK KIT KAT: http://storagecow.eu/index.php?dir=Xda%2FLG+G3%2FStock%2FAT%26T+D850%2F
LGUP8974.DLL: (Say thank you to him)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63266194&postcount=84
Now fallow this tutorial using the DLL and TOT we downloaded : http://www.androidrootz.com/2014/07/how-to-unroot-lg-g3-all-variants.html
Now you have Kit Kat, and from here you can use kingroot to root the phone and now we can finally intall TWRP using the bump tutorial, this time will work perfectly:

And you don't need to install kingroot either to install twrp on the d850
So to clarify, can LGUP be used to downgrade the AT&T LG G3 (D850) from marshmallow even though in that original post it says for the D855 only?
Because I tried the other method with no success. I also tried a suggestion someone else has given elsewhere about using kingroot to root, then using a paid playstore app called supersume to overwrite kinguser. It failed because as stated root doesn't survive reboot and the process was dependent on rebooting.
Thanks for all the info guys.

LGUP is the only way you can downgrade or flash firmwares once your MM. I've stated this in my threads tons of times. I really do need to edit that part to take D855 only out lol.
It only said D855 only as the D850 couldn't be detected at that time.

The same way.. But there is no firmware file due to it being tot only. Only way sadly is to OTA update with an AT&T prepaid or H2O sim card in the device.
