Does anyone have any suggestions on how to increase the volume on the pixel phone? I have it at max and it's still too low. I would like to be able to change this without rooting my phone if possible, maybe a play store app that will do this?

is there a way to increase the headphone volume? I got to the audio service menu but I don't know which settings to change. I just got a new pair of Bose ae2 and they are extremely quiet. I tried another pair with the same issue. Maybe I'm deaf?
Thanks in advance!

I assume you mean beyond what's possible with the volume rocker, yes (I hope)?
Haha yes, that's correct.

PERFECT! Thanks a bunch!
I want to DECREASE the volume. When I listen to music and set it to the lowest setting, it's still too loud. Is there a way to do that?

THANKS! This is just what I needed to break in my new noise cancelling headphones!
I can't seem to find audioboost in the market?
I'm running congnition 2.3b8, does this have something to do with this issue?
There is an app called audio boost that works great. Its a paid app but almost doubled my sound output on my captivate. Well worth it, don't remember how much but worth the price. Your phone must be rooted on froyo or stock rooted or unrooted on 2.1

I can't find Audio in the Market either. What other options do I have to increase captivate volume.
My volume was much higher with Phoenix Rising ROM but not with Andromeda.
Strange nobody's talking about the voodoo control app.....u do need a voodoo or speedmod kernel for it.......voodoo has the option of increasing or decreasing the headphone gain....works like a charm!
I have problems with the sound when set on tv out mode. its gets quietier. Anyone know how to increase volume on the tv out mode?
You could click the thread in my signature and use the galaxy tuner app to adjust it louder or quieter, problem solved. It is also in the market for download. This works for the headphones and the phone speaker. This works with any kernel also.
So I installed PowerAMP on the Nexus 5. When I played a song stored on the phone, the volume was too low. I was able to hear it clearly only after maxing my phone volume.
I opened GooglePlay Music app and played the same song again. The difference is tremendous. Even with mid volume settings, I can hear the song clearly.
Is it just me or I am using PowerAMP in a wrong way?
Go into the EQ and disable "Equ, Tone & limit". Then you should have full sound again.
I'm on the nexus 4 at the minute but the behavior is exactly the same. As soon as you enable any of the 3 options the Max volume decreases hugely.

I disabled all three. Yes, there was a mild improvement, still nothing close to Google play.
Thanks any ways. Any other tips appreciated.
I am exactly facing the same issue due to which I m preferring google play music instead of poweramp. Is this due to how play music directly uses DSP rather than a software from poweramp? Can anyone enlighten please?

Try sliding the preamp slider up.

Thank god, I felt i was the only one having the problem.
I forgot the other options sorry.
Goto menu-settings-audio-advanced tweaks.
Disable direct audio control
Enable music fx
Now go back to the eq page and click the tone \ vol tab at the bottom.
Click music fx so that it's highlighted.
Hopefully that will solve your issue

Thanks these changes increased the volume loudness from speaker. I will check the tonality and quality from earphones and report.

By enabling the music fx it should be using the android DSP exactly the same as play music

Iv been having this same problem with poweramp forever... Spotify volume is twice as much.
I tried your above instructions but for some reason it didn't help :-/
Seeing as how my moto x Dev edition just broke... (Microphone just failed)
I'm thinking about the nexus 5 again.
Only if... However they've fixed that garbage quality speaker.
Can someone shed some light?

No. Same erratic build, no new 'version'.

There was a software update for the speaker. Fixed the volume being unusually low in certain apps.
If you root the phone there are many options to increase volume and audio quality. Unrooted you can use equalizers for a small boost.
I find it loud enough to hear my ringtone in a noisy environment and clear enough to enjoy videos and music with.

I never thought the N5 speaker was garbage... better than the S3s I had in every single way.

If you are rooted then install ViPer4Android. It so dynamically changes the sound quality you will wonder what all the *****ing is about. Check for the ViPer4Android thread in the Nexus 5 themes and apps section for how to install it. In that thread is a flash file that makes things a little easier. In my opinion Google should buy ViPer4Android and make it standard. I use it on all my Android devices.

My girlfriend's HTC One Mini has much better speakers than my N5. But my screen, processor, RAM, etc. are all much better. Depends what's most important to you. You could always use headphones
Google will push new speakers through an update soon BTW read the suggestions above.
Tested audio quality with earphones and without using Google music+equalizer and I can say that audio quality is GREAT.
Honestly after reading some users complains about audio quality I excepted it worse, but like for me,a music lover,it's great. :good:
So is it possible that I got a gimped one from the first order? Way back on release week.

Some nexus 5's had really low volume on the speaker. That's why people started drilling holes in it.

Does anyone know if there is a volume app or anything like it to increase the volume. My last phone was a g3 and someone had created an actual app, just wondering if anything like that has been created yet? Thanks

Hello everyone, does anyone know how to increase the sound on the pixel xl? It is still soft even with the volume on max. Is there possibly a app out there that would do this automatically?
Also in regards to screen rotation, i can't get the screen to rotate 180, where the charge plug is at the top, this would make it beneficial to using when plugged in. It rotates in either landscape position but not, the other way in portrait position. I am not rooted or anything like that, i usually do root my phone's but would like to keep this just the way it is. This phone is awesome, only 2 caveats i have about this phone. Thanks in advance.
