Hello everyone! Has anyone found or developing a custom recovery or rom for this poor thing? thanks for the work or find on the root..
There is now TWRP for this. Do a search and it can be rooted without ADB.
This worked for me on QLink ZTE N817 Wellington Android 4.4.4 MSM8610, thanks leetree2001 and fcknstar.

Negative. These steps, just like all others found online will NOT root a zte n817. It is actually impossible to root an N817. Tired of the lies!
Dude!download 360root and rooting will happen.Sean

Did you follow @leetree2001 post?
Using kingoroot? With adb?
Now others are saying TWRP is available.
I search with no luck.
I am also on Qlink ZTE N817 Wellington Android 4.4.4
SW = N817V1.0.0B10
Yes LeeTree's guide worked for me.

Yes, I followed @leetree2001's post, this worked for me. But then I tried flashing the latest TWRP with TWRP Manager and I broke my phone. After flashing I did factory data reset, and the phone then restarted to go to recovery, and now my recovery is a blank white screen. I can get into QDLoader Mode, FTM Mode, Download Mode, Sahara Download Mode, and EDL Mode, but no recovery. So basically I have a Soft Bricked device now. I have found the stock Firmware file, but it is missing the prog_emmc_firehose_8610.mbn file needed for QPST. If anyone has any help regarding this problem, I would be greatly appreciated. Also to note, I have another one of the same phone, that the ROOT mentioned above worked on, but then I factory reset. Now the phone is in a half rooted state, it had the Kingo SuperUser apk in the system/apps folder. It would stay in my notifications all of the time, and I could not get rid of it. Now the KingoRoot, nor any other rooting app will work, because superuser has taken control. So it is in a half rooted mode, I cannot unroot using KingoRoot either, because no root apps detect it as being rooted.
Removing Files
I have rooted this device and than made sure to see if it was actually rooted by going to another rooting apk to see the status of root.. When I had done that by accident from fast fingers lol I had re rooted the phone when it was already rooted and it un rooted by accidentally re rooting.. Ever since than I have not been able to get it rooted again... I'm not that pro into rooting knowledge so "I have a question to ask"... After that has been done, is there any files/folders that it had left that is preventing me from a successful root? If so what is the files/folders and their destination so I can get rid of them.. I just dont want to delete something that didnt need to be deleted.. Thanks for any help.

Are you rooted stock or did you flash a Rom? You could have root if you flash The Hammerhead Rom. Otherwise you must make sure you have Superuser and proper su binaries as well as the proper busybox version installed.
There's a free app called Root Check that can tell you if you have those files installed and if not, you can dl them.
I had rooted my xoom at 1st using the 1 click method which soft bricked. So I had to unlock it thru fastboot & I reflashed my xoom with the original image it came with then after rebooting I got the notifications of upgrades & I downloaded them & it brought me back to 3.2 then I followed the guide I posted above.Of course I skipped the unlock process because I left my xoom unlocked when I flashed the original stock image to it.Should I redo the root & just follow all of the steps.Maybe do a factory reset & start over?

That is a good guide, and if you follow the steps again that should ensure that you have the files you need. You don't have to wipe anything, because according to what you are saying, you booted correctly into HC3.2 but the only issue is that you are missing one or all of Superuser, su binaries, and/or busybox. Or you could just flash the Hammerhead Rom which will give you the correct files. Have you flashed the CWM recovery v3.2.0.0 R4c? If you have that installed, you can flash Hammerhead Rom. You will need a micro sdcard in your Xoom, for that. (Don't ever try to flash the Rom zip file thru ADB, though...or you will be in big trouble.)
If the superuser icon is in your app tray launch it once. If not you messed up. That quide is spot on as mentioned.
All i have in my Superuser & binary .rar is a su file & a superuser apk.
Did i get i bad download on that because i no binary? And also i never knew i had to have busybox on my computer too for the root.It didn't say it in that guide but where do i get the proper version of that?
Not talking on your computer. Is superuser icon in your system tray on the xoom?
Yea i downloaded it from the market
I just put clockwork on my xoom too..
Update:i got rooted & just installed Hammerhead on it !!!! Thanks buddies !!
You don't download it from the market....
If you followed the guide properly you would already have superuser in your app drawer as a system app....
yep it's in there now..thank you for chiming in albundy2010...you're quite the character

Whew! Well, you finally did it! Take this opportunity to do a backup of your new system with CWM in the recovery menu so that if you get things messed up you can boot into recovery and restore from your backup.
Since you are adventurous and persistent, do yourself a favor and really learn some of the tricks people have posted about how to recover from soft bricks and things not to do. You will have more fun with your Xoom if you feel confidence about being able to recover from problems.
Hi,
I have a C10 SBK2 Transformer and I`m rooted it using UNLOCKROOT via usb.
I installed the ROM Manager and CWM in order to install the Android Revolution HD ROM, but everytime I reboot into recovery mode the tablet loads the ICS system and doesn`t load the CWM.
Does anybody know why it isn`t booting into recovery?
Thanks in advance
Not sure but if you have a terminal app try using reboot -r or whatever switch tells it to reboot to recovery.
Alternatively until you figure it out use rom toolbox app. There is a function to boot to recovery.
To me it sounds like you don't have permissions somewhere. The root method you did might not have worked.

Dont use ROM Manager. Theres an app on these forums simply called "recoveryInstaller". Thats what you should be using.

Hi to all,
I have a similar problem.
I've use unlockroot to gain root permission on my tablet. I used root check basic to check if I have gained root access and it said yes.
So I've installed ROM Manager from Google Play and installed clockworkmod recovery (before "standard", after "touch"). When I try to boot into recovery mode, I found an android opened with a red exclamation point on it.
So I have tried RevcoveryInstaller.apk, but when I execute this app, it return this error: "You are not rooted".
Any suggestion?

Dear Goatshocker,
Thank you fot the suggestion, but I had the sample issue theH4mmer had.
Dear theH4mmer,
I had the same problem as you had, that's because unlockroot didn't root our phone. Please download the vipermod tool to properly unlock your phone and install the CWM.
Hello everybody.
First of all, I'm not sure whether this is the place to post this kind of questions. My apologies in advance. Here is my problem.
I rooted my nexus 5 nearly after a month of having bought it using the nexus root toolkit. Today I received the 4.4.3 OTA, and somewhere I read that it would fail most likely. I also read read that I should set survival mode in SuperSU (a pro option) in order to retain root access, which I couldn't. I tried to update via the OTA thinking it would fail, and it worked, only that I lost my root access.
Is there an easy way to regain root access? I don't want to wipe and re-install everything. There are only a few apps I use that need root access, however it would be nice to have them back, nevertheless.
Thanks in advance.
PS: Now I am able to record video hassle-free, no more static noise in the background :victory:

Thanks for your reply. I have already SuperSU on my phone, but when I press it it says there are some binaries missing. Busybox doesn't update the binaries since it has no root access and says the device might be improperly rooted. My recovery is TWRP, so I can actully flash root files or such.
Edit: I just tried to boot into recovery and it didn't work quite well. There is a fallen android guy with a red triangle. So I don't have recovery either it seems.

Is because with the update you loose bootloader commands ( fastboot)
So, you need to root, after root install Rashr from Google play, with Rashr you can flash twrp, with twrp you can flash aboot.img from 5.0.2 version with a flash zip then you recover bootloader commands like this.

What he's saying is that without fastboot the only way you can flash a ROM is through TWRP. You need to root and then install TWRP, and then install the ROM. Also, if you're doing any kind of reflashing; to do so without a custom recovery is risky at best.

Yes, the TWRP steps are described for Idol 4, but the process works perfectly fine for 6045. That thread is a compilation of steps from few other threads that are linked from there; some may not be specifically for our model, but they work. Just read carefully and make sure you understand. It's quite normal on XDA, when you find some info from another device's forum, and adapt it to your device. Like I said, I did this myself on 6045I at least 3-4 times, while fooling around with the phone after I got it.

You can't use Sahara & Firehose for flashing the ROM. It will only let you to flash the recovery (TWRP).
You have to understand that you need to go through several steps here...
1. Your goal is to downgrade to 5.x. You can't flash a 5.x official stock ROM, because the only way to flash stock is to use Mobile Upgrade Q, and you already got an update to 6.0 for your phone. Your only choice is to find a 5.x ROM that can be flashed from TWRP.
2. So, you need to install TWRP. I recommended using Sahara & Firehose, because this method works for me every time with no problems. I pointed you to the thread with ALL the information you need. If it doesn't work for you, I don't know why. Maybe you don't have the proper drivers installed? You need the drivers before you try doing anything with your phone from your PC. Maybe you have a bad USB cable or port? Maybe something else? I have no idea... I simply told you what works for me 100%.
3. There may be another way, if you somehow root you phone first, then flash TWRP using Rashr, for example. But I don't know how to root it. I only rooted it by flashing SuperSU, after I already had TWRP installed, so I can't help you with this...
Most importantly, you need to understand what you are doing, why you need to do specific steps, and the purpose of all the tools you use...

Hi guys, i was looking to make twrp for this device but couldn't do it because lack of knowledge. so i searched and found about CF-Auto-Root.
fortunately i was able to generate one for mia1. now we can root this device without any recovery.
Requirements -
1. unlocked boot loader. :cyclops:
2. this Zip
3.adb debugging should be enabled
How to -
1. put your phone in fastboot mode by volume down + power key.
2. connect to pc, ( make sure adb debugging is enabled)
2. extract above zip anywhere in your desktop and run root.bat file.
wait for some time, when it boots up you should have root access . although you won't see any su app. tried with solid explorer and was able to edit build.prop. without any issues. enjoy
so with this we get root access, a question about unlocked bootloader, does A1 already unlocked bootloader since begining or we have to request it from Xiaomi or Google to get that?
hope with this we can use substratum on stock Android

No, it doesn't come unlocked, but you can unlock by either ---
1. requesting xiaomi for unlock code.
or
2. By using command " fastboot oem unlock" in fastboot mode.
i used 2nd method to unlock, it's just like unlocking a nexus phone.
Screenshot proof please Kratus
Can u upload or attach few screenshots of the root access working... Root checker or anything
Screenshots?
Well done!
