Long story short: I messed up with flashing a custom rom. But gladly, I got my phone fixed. Now, I wanna root again but I'm scared of rom flashing. I just wanna do the basic benefits of rooting like deleting stock aps and other things.
So what other 'rooting benefits' can I obtain without rom flashing? Or without having the risk of bricking my phone? The rooting process is kinda simple for me since I can use the z4root app.
Help? Anyone?

You can obtain lot of goodies, like install applications not coming from the market, i guess, edit system files, remove non needed system applications, do a lot of things, be sure when you flash a rom to have a fully charged battery, its really hard to brick it.

depending what phone you have?? Rooting is safe enough, you can "unroot" just as easy! I definitely recommend z4root If you flash another ROM be sure to do lots of research next time!!! If you experience any problems, dont forget google can be your best friend! You can count on the fact you wont be the only one having the same problem
I have LG p500. Basically, I'm now scared of anything that involves CMD. I can install non market apps like the ones from here. So yeah, after Z4root. what now?
These phones are great for bricking, because a lot of times they're easy to fix. Try out themes, custom roms, custom kernels, it's all available to you now.

To familiarize myself with the platform I wrote a simple utility for managing the bloat that came pre-installed on my phone. I thought there might be other people who would get some use out of this so I am posting it here. You will need to be rooted and have busybox installed to use this application. If you used z4root to root your phone then you should have everything you need.
The application is pretty simple. When you start it you are presented with a list of the Bloat that the application recognizes. Each item in the list has a checkbox that indicates whether it is enabled or not. To disable bloat you just uncheck the boxes next to what you don't want and then press the Apply button that appears at the bottom of the screen. You can save what you have disabled as a profile by pressing the options button and then choosing Save Profile. This is convenient because you are going to need to turn all of this bloat back on if you want to receive updates. If you have saved a profile and a new update becomes available you can launch Bloat Manager, press the options button, choose Enable All and then click Apply to get your phone ready for the update. After the update installs you can launch Bloat Manager, press the options button, choose Load Profile and then click Apply to turn the bloat back off.

When you disable an application using Bloat Manager it simply renames it to .bak. When you re-enable an application it is renamed back to .apk.
Bloat Manager remounts your /system partition as writable in order to make changes to applications. I came up with this list based on what other people have had success with removing, but I have not personally turned off everything on the list. Changing things in your system partition is always dangerous so please be careful.

Iinstead of asking and waiting for responses, search on the forum or read a sticky or something to expand your knowledge if you aren't comfortable with cmd you probably shouldn't be messing with root privileges. And bricked phones are dead phones, you can only recover from a brick by replacing hardware

Wow. Since you put it that way.
But there's just too much. You cant blame me for being like this. I bricked my phone and they replaced the mother board (for free) and I am worried to do this again. I tried learning, I failed. And I don't like to be a wannabe developer of some sort, I just want to maximize my phone to it's potential and do what most people do.
You can say that I haven't exerted too much effort. In that case, maybe you're not the person I should me asking help from. Sorry, I was hurt.

CMD (command shell in windows,mac or linux) is only used when you change ROMs or unlock the bootloader (the program that loads the ROM) apps and themes have nothing to do with it, you will read ADB a lot which is basically a way to access the whole device remotely, most of this you do on the handset itself. Root is a term the same as apples jailbreak, which gives you complete access to everything (most is protected bloatware (apps) that network providers don't want you to delete, there is also a percentage of protection stopping you messing up bits that bricking your phone! Bricking doesn't mean screen wont work, force closes or not booting...it means DEAD! If see something cool that you fancy doing, research a little first and if you don't know what it is or means...DONT DO IT! Its that simple root is what you make it, it opens a lot of options but there's no rush to get to the end, the you learn doing little bits, the quicker you'll be confident flashing ROMs and maybe even developing your own customisations

If you want to maximize your phone's full potential you have to deal with thoses things, e.g.: joy 845 comes with the stock rom, which is slow and contains many things not needed, thus you have to flash another rom, better, faster etc...so yeah you have to be a wannabe in the end if you want to do what you want.
Check out Youtube how-to vids on rooting. Some are invaluable, especially the longer ones. Most of these guys take you step by step in detail.

I have an Evo 3d, and been reading up on it avidly. I have it rooted, and currently have synergy rom.
My problem is I have it flashed to cricket ( metro ) Talk and text work, and my 3g comes up briefly when the phone is started, but then the automatic hands free activation comes up, and kills the interent. I was told to download a custom rom and this should fix the problem, i have tried 3., and still cant get rid of this message.
I have searched this site high and low for a fix, but cant find it, if anyone could help me out. that would be GREATLY appreciated. I have been running iwthout internet for 4 days now :/

If its an app you should be able to remove it on your PC. Also try removing it with root explorer or the terminal emulator.
I was just wondering, why if you delete certain stock apps (Or Bloatware for that matter), they cause FCs or instability in general? Are they tied into the OS somehow?

Bloatware can be removed when you root your device through the explorer. But you can download custom roms with an unlocked bootloader which usually have no bloatware those are two ways of getting rid of the carrier crap. Your choice.
It's also dependent on your device & what type of rom you're running. There should be a list of safe to remove apps for your device/rom.
If you're iffy of something, try freezing it first with Titanium Backup. If all goes well then you can uninstall it.

EDIT: Figured it was worth mentioning that I don't own an Android device yet (But it'll either be the Epic 4G or the Sidekick 4G [I lurk in the latter's forum]), so I'm trying soak up as much info as I can receive.

I recently bought a Pixel off ebay and the guy that sold it to me bought it off Gumtree. The original seller left all his stuff on it and the guy i bought it off couldn't even access the phone because it had a passcode lock on it. He tried contacting the owner but he never responded (yayyy).
Then there's me, because I'm smart and was like I CAN JUST FACTORY RESET IT, which kicked in the FRP. Unfortunately Google has had fun developing this phone to be super secure and although I no longer have a passcode to worry about, I can't bypass the FRP and I don't know the original owner's account details.
Here's some details:
USB Debugging is OFF
Only option I have on ADB is sideload
Bootloader is LOCKED
Phone is NOT ROOTED
Currently running 7.1.1
Phone is CARRIER unlocked (I can receive calls and use my data when trying to log into my gmail, which doesnt work because I have to use original account).

If I understand your situation correctly, you have e a rough road ahead of you. The Google kill switch can only be disabled by the legitimate Google account holder, before the phone was reset.
If this was easily unlocked, it wouldn't be an option worthwhile. Basically, if you get it unlocked then Google has wasted their time on developing that feature.
I don't think you'll be getting into that phone and honestly, I hope you don't because then that means mine is less likely to be stolen since it is worthless without my credentials
For years, we've all learned to disable Find My iPhone before we sell an IOS device. Similarly, we have to deactivate Google's kill switch prior to factory reset a Marshmallow or Nougat device. It's really a good anti-theft implementation by Google. It's too bad that many sellers, for whatever reason, don't do it before selling.
I can enter the full OS, but can not enable ADB nor add a new account. Any insight?

I came up with a way to remove FRP for this device. I currently have the only video up on youtube so it should be easy to find. I cant post links yet so just search google or youtube for "google pixel frp bypass" and it will come up. It involves the use of a USB-C OTG adapter and the dirtycow exploit. It actually works for a truly universal frp bypass for every device vulnerable to the device. The entire process is done on a bootloader locked, usb debugging off, no internet connection and no other device (besides the usb). Enjoy, it took me weeks to figure it out lol.

I posted this in the dirtycow forums section but I figure it has relevance here as well. Sorry if this is considered double posting.
This method wont help you to root the device, just to bypass FRP. Since dirtycow doesn't persist after a reboot (I think) it wont help as far as gaining root. However it will help you to modify files on the device. I also realized that it only has the power to overwrite files that the current user has read access to, despite whether the filesystem is mounted read-only. With this in mind I was looking over my Nexus 6P and checking to see which files had read access as user and realized that GoogleLoginService.apk and GoogleLoginService.odex both fall under this category. The files are located at /system/priv-app/GoogleLoginService and associate with Google Account Manager when installed as a system app. When the data is corrupted you can install Google Account Manager as a user app, which changes the location and file names to /data/app/com.google.gsf.login-1/base.apk and base.odex. If you corrupt these files at this point then try to disable and uninstall and select replace with the factory version it wont have anything to "replace with the factory version" and tell you that uninstall failed. Once this happens you can reinstall GoogleAccountManager.apk which will again install as a user app, which will then let you perform a full successful uninstall of Google Account Manager. At this point you have full control to be able to downgrade to a previous version of Google Account Manager without it telling you that "data is corrupted" and from there perform the web sign in activity. I've tested on multiple devices and multiple versions and this works on every single device on every version of Android including the latest 7.1.1 as long as it is not on the most recent December 5 2016 security patch since dirtycow was removed with those updates.

oh hey whats up! nice to see you here as well im still trying to fix my pixel since it bricked when trying to update it haha. Been a little distracted though this morning since phonlab hase stolen my method and now he and rootjunky are passing it off as if they found it first without giving me credit for it and charging to teach the method. serious backstabbing right there. but once i get this pixel up and running again i'll find a method and host it from my website so no copycats rip me off.

can be reseted with XTC2CLIP if u have unlocked bootloader i tested on my device.

@warrior26ro I stated clearly the bootloader was locked. XTC2CLIP is also for HTCs. Please don't post unless you've read the question properly.
Technically the Google Pixel is an HTC device since they are the manufacturers of them. Not that that helps the situation any more or less to know just figured I'd mention it lol. You can even issue some proprietary HTC fastboot commands on Pixel devices, but I haven't gotten them to do anything special from using them. Commands such as fastboot oem rebootRUU makes the phone reboot but not into anything special that I've noticed, just reboots the phone. I'm sure there are others but that one in particular is definitely HTC only lol.
On a side note I'm still diligently working on a method for the newer devices every day. It's only a matter of time before I get it lol. While on the subject at least here's a couple thoughts if anybody has any insight...
I've been looking at other binary commands to gain a foothold of, sort of like the whole idea behind run-as that the dirtycow peeps use. After installing Nethunter on my 6P I noticed that there is another command with potential privilege abuse called "procmem". It doesn't need superuser privileges to use nor does it only respond to ROOT or SHELL users, so its basically universally allowed from "untrusted app" users (i.e. termux, terminal emulator, material terminal, etc.). The only thing is that I'm pretty sure that command is only installed with a proper busybox installation, and further it only has the proper setuid bit needed + standard user permissions (that I've seen) when installed into /system/xbin. So basically my idea is to leverage a modified procmem binary to gain (insert something here) that might lead to (insert something else here) lol. Not really a whole plan but I figure if I can find a way to get procmem into /system/xbin on a non-rooted device then at least I have something to work with lol. Otherwise I've also been looking into a way to become SHELL user without using "adb shell". I know that with the Moto 360 there was some fancy adb command to enable native adb support but I can't seem to remember how to go about it. So yeah, thats all I've got so far lol.

About 10 years ago, I left the smartphone world.
Recently, with the retirement of everyone's CDMA equipment, I've been all but forced to start using a smartphone again (and I'm glad I did). I can see things have become a great deal more complicated than what they used to be...
I had unlocked my HTC Touch Pro and was able to get into and change anything there, because I had found an abundance of resources on this site for editing registry entries to change icons, sounds, and all sorts of other things I wanted to customize. That was a WIndows phone, of course, which appears to be nothing like Android's system.
But now I'm using an A71 5G (A716U), and though I've been able to find a lot of guidance in making the phone my own (much of it from here), I've not found any fruitful information about how to change those annoying system sounds outside of rooting or bootloader unlocking, neither of which I'll be doing. Screen taps, charge-start notifier, default notifications....don't like any of'em.
So, with all that, this is my question: Is there any way that some genius here might know of to customize any and every internal system audio file without rooting or using the bootloader unlock? I've spent a good deal of time over the last 4 weeks trying to find a method to make this happen, but every resource eventually comes down to having to root the phone.
...Along the same lines, I would also (of course) absolutely love to replace the entirety of the startup and shutdown splashes and sounds....
